well, I had amazing willpower and passed on the bread bowls. Probably one of my favorite things in the world is sourdough bread. But, my desire to lose weight outweighs the need to eat it. (another bad pun, I know). All 6 of the others had it though. As for sightseeing, I did see a few winos sitting around the pier while I was there! Yesterday was Santa Cruz and today is Alcatraz...hope they don't incarcerate me!

zogo, I used to go to Santa Cruz sometimes when I lived in the Bay Area. Be sure to take a good warm jacket when you go to Alcatraz. I think the winds can be pretty chilly out there, even on a warm day. Have fun!

Thanks for the tip, Curve! It seems like layers are the key here.  It goes from sunny and warm to windy and chilly in a matter of minutes! But, those sunny moments are luxury after our LONG-COLD winter in wisconsin.

@zogo, yup, layers are the way to go. In the Bay Area you can probably get away with a windbreaker or at most a wool jacket, but I bet in Wisconsin you need a jacket or coat stuffed with fluffy, downy feathers to keep toasty warm outdoors in the winter, and a comforter or sleeping bag filled with the same to stay cozy at night.

And don't get blown off of Alcratraz Island (or the boat)....don't want anyone to drown.

It has been unseasonably cold in Indiana.  Spring has been a long time coming but it makes you appreciate these sunny 50 degree rowdy days.

And no matter how much we might worry about the weather, we can't change it!

Well, if it's nasty outside, we'd better stay in! I'd be really sorry if I convinced someone to go out in the cold, and they got sick, or fell on the ice.

We could stay in and read a good story! (and maybe have some hot chocolate to keep warm!)

Yummy! Let's sit by the fireplace, drink our chocolate, listen to an audiobook, and watch the storm outside. It was beautiful here last weekend but I think the prediction is rain for the next few days.

Curve, you are smart ! Such a great idea.  I'd much rather stay in during the storm.  Especially by a fireplace.

I love to roast marshmallows. I've got the graham crackers and some dark chocolate (brought it back from Ghirardelli Square!)Does anybody have some long sticks we could use?

So nice that you have that special dark chocolate (and that you will share!) and graham crackers! Now we don't even have to go to the store. I am sure we can cut some branches easily, for the sticks.....(I'm getting hungry now!)

OK, I will get a saucepan and heat up the milk for the hot chocolate on the stove. Who has the marshmallows?

    Thanks wahine.

Hey, look out the window! There is an otter playing in the stream alongside this cabin.

Awwww its so cute, curveball! I'll take a picture and print it out in sepia tones so it will have a retro look to it.

We could print it out as a postcard and send it to our friends. I wrote a caption.."We'd love to have you at our cabin in the woods, you otter come visit".

Yes, the directions are head North until you get to the stream. Follow it to the right until you see our cabin. Come on in and join the party.

See you all later, I'm going home. I was expecting a nice quiet weekend at a cabin in the woods and now it's turning into Party Central. It's tough being an introvert in an extravert's world. Silly me, I had to open my big mouth about the otter. He won't stick around long with that stereo going so loud

    >sigh<

I must agree, the thump of the bass is getting a bit loud at this party. I don't think we invited all these people. How did they get in? We should quiet things down a bit.

OK, its late, time to turn off the music. I'm motioning with my thumb to show them which way to go to drive back to town. So quiet now, I can hear the crickets.....

We could go outside and star gaze, but I hope one of those crickets doesn't hop in my mouth!

And if that happened, we might not be very couth.
