Thanks, Jane! It gets discouraging at times - the length of time recovery is taking. The 1st mx took me 9 months after mx and chemo, thought this time it should be so much quicker with mx and recon only. Was I wrong! Can't wait to get back to a new normal! The great thing is, I'm now rid of my STEEL metal bra (tissue expanders). ((Hugs back to you!))

(So grateful for a place to vent!)

Well you can't pull a sheet over your head and escape the world (like we all would from this dreaded disease), but you can sleep and heal. And we are all so lucky to have this wonderful place to vent. When I talk to someone who is newly diagnosed, I always send them to BCO.

Sometimes I do indeed want to pull the covers over my head and hide from everyone! But I am going to emerge today to go to my support group meeting (had to miss last week because of the stupid cold), and tomorrow I have a dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned. They really need it, because my previous appointment was during chemo so they were only lightly cleaned. Then the next day eye doctor and get my port flushed.

Hi! You gals have been bizzy! Got home late last night, brought back more weight (from all the casino food and drinks), but less moola. Oh well. Jane, I wear my fitflops even when its super cold. It was funny in China in Nov, as the Chinese would point at my feet and laugh, so I would hold them up higher for them to see. Even to a busload of them. LOL, it was in the 30's. Wore them in Ireland last month too, while it was snowing! But with the probs I have had with our long trips, my feet do better when not in real shoes. Curve, I have another dental appt this wk, too, been doing the bleaching, but one toothhas been very sensitive, even with using their desensitizer and the pro-enamel sensitive toothpaste. Good luck with your cleaning!

OOPS I was going to use "tooth" then realized it is TWO letters different, will think of something.....

Hmmm.....how about it is nice to get home to my own bed and own sheet after being in hotels for a few days. (I know it should be "sheets" but had to use 5 letters!)

Haha, that's a funny picture of you in your FitFlops in the snow and in China.  I immediately wondered if you got any of those socks that have one big toe and then the four little toes together like the Chinese wear with their wooden flip flops?  How does this thread always turn to flipflops??

Yes, originally the fitflops were supposed to get your legs toned. But I just like how comfy they are, with good arches. And I DID recently get those knee hi hose that are made to show your bare toes....I have some comfy sandals that have a strap that goes across the bottom of your toes, so these knee hi's are great....has thin fabric that goes around your big toe, then its open below the other toes. I did have those other Japanese footie things when growing up....they are called "tabis". OK, away from fitflops and flipflops.......how about talking about a stove? lol

OK, I will talk about a stove, because I'm thinking of remodeling the kitchen in the house I bought to live in when I retire. It's funny--the house has a gas fireplace in the living room, and a gas water heater in the garage, but an electric stove in the kitchen, which is between the LR and garage! I wonder why they didn't put the gas in the kitchen while they were at it. I bet I'm not the only one who just loves cooking with gas. A gas burner doesn't have that delayed reaction like an electric range--when you turn it on, it's on, and when you turn it off, it's off. I had a gas stove in my townhouse and now I'm spoiled forever!

Never had a gas stove, but I agree with you, because others who have it really like it! If I were remodeling and could put the above-the-stove-microwave somewhere else, I would love one of those large canopy type vents with a long slope, above the stove. (That didn't sound right, but I think you know what I mean).

Our house had an electric stove when we moved in, too.  We also had gas heat and hot water. What are people thinking?  We got a new gas stove a few years back. A Viking with flat curved grates on the range. Love it. If I ever burn myself in the kitchen, I have some aloes on hand. I just slice a piece of a plant open and lay it on my burn. It really is a wonder!

WOW, your Viking Gas Stove sounds really nice, Jane! Probably not the brand that is in the sales flyers very often.

They were giving good deals when we bought it. And I didn't really want all the bells and whistles..timers and such. It's just a basic model.

I bet you cook some awesome meals with that stove!

Oh my! I was so out of it today, just rested and slept. This thread went so fast, almost can't keep up. After seeing descriptions of your kitchens, you are all LEAPS and bounds ahead of me!

Aren't Vikings those professional-grade ranges with all the bells and whistles? If they're the ones I'm thinking of they're way over my budget, but I want at least to get a down-draft range so I don't need a vent hood over the stove. I never have liked those, they're noisy and don't work all that well.

Oh, funny! before I hit preview, I was trying to make a new word from sales. Then I looked and there have been three plays since then, and the new word is leaps. Fortunately, my word works from either of those. heheehehee

I wanted a down-draft here too when we upgraded, but it ended up to be a big job. So then we bought the microwave with the vent that was really strong, but had to be vented to the outside, and that didn't work either. My prev home had an amazing downdraft cooktop that had a HUGE motor, and big contraption under the cooktop, as well as a big contraption outside. BUT boy was it powerful! I can't even think of the name right now, but the prev owner paid beaucoup bucks for it! Since I don't fry too much anymore, as long as it takes the steam out, I am happy!

Curveball, so funny! That's happened to me. Glad it worked either way.

All this talk about kitchen and cooking! Hope it brings back my appetite. I know that home-cooked meals BEATS the heck out of fast food!

Maddy, I should smack myself right now, as I have already had dinner, but STILL craving a steak????

Wahine... I actually didn't have dinner. Was very tired today, juiced some veggies for breakfast, had a SNACK after I woke up. Had a burst of energy even though not 100%, started dinner. DH came home 2 hours early (wondered why dinner not done. Really? Still recovering from surgery and you're early by hours?). So busy running around with dinner, I wasn't hungry and didn't eat. So a steak would have been a great dinner.

Well, 2TA, if you wake up hungry in the middle of the night, you can sneak to the kitchen and grab something to eat out of the fridge.

Good idea for Maddy, Curveball! AND if you are hungry, just speak up and let someone else bring it to you......

Curveball and Wahine... good ideas but not in my house! Hubby still doesn't get I'm recovering (after all, I don't look sick!) and 2 cats, are well, cats and useless on the helping part. Am still feeling pain - PEAKS and valleys - will call dr today to try to find some relief. Have my days and nights mixed up: sleep better during the day and can't see to fall asleep at night. Can't wait to feel well enough to cook (and bake).

Have a wonderful Wednesday, all!  Smile

Hope you can get some good meds, Maddy! But be careful if you do, they might make you feel SO good, you might try to skate around the house. I am so glad those days are but a distant memory, but recovery can really be horrid, I do remember that. Every day gets better, though.

No skating in the house!! I have a cat too, and they do think just sitting there looking cute and purring is all they need to do. As far as helping with household tasks is concerned, they are perfectly useless!

I know, its funny to see a cat sitting in a window, and observing him while he basks in the warmth of the sunlight streaming in.

Hi all, just checking in. Got better meds so slept most of the day away. Feeling better, not up to being crazy around the house yet, no skating or dancing. Not too sunny today, cats not fighting over the window to bask. The 2 girls used to get along, now I hear that horrible cat fight screech at times. Have to separate them, move to separate rooms so they can calm down, chillax, and let SCABS heal.

2TA, I hope the cats are only making scabs on each other, and not leaving scars on you! I may end up taking my mom's cat to my house and I anticipate hearing that screech myself if I do. My cat is such a wimp! He is twice her size and half her age, but probably she would walk all over him.

Curveball.. The girls both hiss and fight over me! I often wake up to one sleeping on my legs and one sleeping on my chest. Your cat is such s gentleman! Maybe if you have them together, they can get acquainted over a SCRAP of chicken or other meat?
