That would be GREAT, except he is a country singer. Singing

@RedReading, I must have missed something....who is Gage and what is his prayer need?

I can only think of one word and it would be better on the bird-watching thread. The new word is egret.

Curve, this is Gage. He is my cousin's 6 year old grandson. He has MD and now Leukodystrophy. He is dying and they don't know how to help him.

He should be out climbing TREES not dying in a hospital. My poor cousin and her DIL.

@RedReading, I am sorry to hear Gage is so sick. I pray that even now the doctors will find some treatment that will help him, and that your cousin and Gage's parents will be given strength and comfort. I don't have any children, so I can't say I know what they are going through, but their stress level must be sky high.

For sure, I just hope it all sorts itself out soon. That they find something to help him.

Red, am sorry to hear that about Gage. Hoping your family can find some comfort at this time.

One, tow, three, it's almost Easter:

    Happy Easter to all!

Happy easter to you too Curve. I am sitting on the deck having coffee with my DH and trying to take pictures of birds. But it seems I can see them with my naked eyes but as soon as I put the camera to my eye, no matter how hard I STARE, I can't find them. Boo.

Curve, of course, no problem, not to worry. I mess up so often, glad to see I'm not the only one.

    HAPPY EASTER!

I am running out of steam as I was awake till 4 AM making a scarf for DD. Wish I had planned better, should have foregone sleep for a Sunrise Service. DH said he would make a BBQ chicken and steak dinner last night, that didn't happen (just through together something for me and DD), then DH said he would make us waffles for breakfast (rare treat for DD to be home on a Sunday as the Y is closed today, so no lessons for her), but one guess who made breakfast? And it wasn't the Easter Bunny!

Does your DH often volunteer to do household tasks and then not do them? How irritating that would be!

I'm very tired today too but that's because I've lost so much weight. I don't think I've said on this thread what the results of my last CT scan were....the doxil didn't work either and my liver is now enlarged, I assume because of the big mets in it. I think it is compressing my stomach and the result is I get full when I've eaten only a little bit and haven't been taking in enough calories to maintain my weight. I have an appointment with my oncologist tomorrow and plan to ask about having a feeding tube put in so I can get the food into my system past the constricted area, because if I don't find a way to get more nourishment I will continue to lose weight, and I can't afford to. I'm down to 110 lbs or less when I should weigh at least 120 or 125. I am trying tamoxifen for my next treatment but that's a "Hail Mary" pass.

I asked my oncologist at my last appointment if having so many treatments fail right away one after the other (which is what all of mine have done) means future treatments are less likely to work, and she said yes, and hormone treatments even less likely to work than another chemo. I just didn't think I could make it through another chemo without ending up in the hospital or permanently unable to live in my house. The doctor didn't even suggest antihormonal, I asked about it, she said it's unlikely to work but probably won't do any harm (unlike chemo). So that's what I'm doing.

Moo to yoo too! I am using a supplemental drink (not Ensure but same idea) and I stick a spoonful of protein powder in it to boost nutrition. I put the protein powder in some other foods too. The problem is quantities. If I only eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full, I physically can't take in enough to get sufficient nutrition, and if I eat more than that I feel like I went to the all-you-can-eat buffet and made a total pig of myself. If I have a coughing spell after that, it feels like I will get sick (sorry if that is TMI). So tomorrow is my day for feeding tube questions.

O {{{{{Curve}}}}} I'm sorry you are going through all of this. My grandma used say that chicken STOCK cures everything, but this might be beyond even that.

Have you been on the alternative sites? Maybe some of the food sources in them could increase appetite while helping the liver. Like lemon juice or asparagus or something. They are both supposed to help liver function while they give cancer a one, two punch. I don't know. But it might be worth a try.

O Moo, I got a chance to use your phrase over the weekend. Deja moo. Everyone laughed.

Maddy, I would be supremely pissed if my DH made promises he didn't keep. Grrr. Hope you're still smiling.

    Hi Ronny, how's it going?

I will have to get some more strength and energy to make much of my own food. Grocery shopping knocks me out completely. I'm going to see if I can order groceries online and have them delivered. I do need fat to go with the protein but don't know how to add it. I don't much like nuts in any form with only a few exceptions.

I have not been on any alternative sites. It just seems like too big a job separating the wheat from the chaff. But nobody has to convince me to eat lemon juice or asparagus. I like them both. I like chicken stock too, but there are hardly any calories, fat or protein in it.

This has definitely reached the point of "whatever works". I am hoping my oncologist can suggest something to reduce the size of the liver lesions even if the tamoxifen doesn't work (cyberknife or the like) because the swelling is getting uncomfortable.

If I have to pay for something out of pocket that will be OK. We had a benefit at my job before I retired that you get 35% of your unused sick leave tax free in a special health account, and I had over a thousand hours on the books when I retired, so I have bucks available to pay for things that might not be completely covered on my regular health plan. Now it's time for another teeny little meal.

Curveball...I'm on Navelbine (with herc/perj because of her2+), and it is a very tolerable chemo.  My onc says it's a drug that doesn't make you look or feel like a cancer patient.  I had 6-8 tumors, as large as 8 cm when diagnosed and they shrunk 80% in the first 5 months.  MAYBE it could be the one thing that will kill those buggers?????   I'm hoping your onc has some answers tomorrow...will be thinking of you!   Hi Red!!!
