What a beautiful BABY!!!!!!!  Geez, I remember giving my baby Grandson his first bath in the sink also!!!!!  You know, the Grandson that I nearly climbed the wire fence to save off that ice?   Well he just turned 24!!!!  My heart  is so filled with those precious memories of both "our boys!" I KNOW they are like adult men now, but they are STILL our guys....and my heart just laughs when I pick up the phone & it's THEM!!  They live in Orlando, but we bonded with them for about 17 years here, before they moved to Orlando.....So you gals with "babies".....I love seeing the pictures...brings back so many memories!

And yes, StillVerticle is doing a lot better.....she is coming through the chemo, a little at a time, but doesn't know what to expect with her continued treatment with a new oncology staff....She has to get over the terrible side effects before she can figure out what is next.....And, yes, she & her family DID rattle a lot of cages, because of what happened to her, And she finally DID get help, & treatment, after almost being taken out with just that one "Dose".....but you gals, I can't BELIEVE all of the problems you women have gone through taking Chemo!   I'm just sooooooo sorry....You women are AWSOME!

Yeah, it snowed here too...about 6 inches, but it's the COLD, that is so bad, Ha!  It's 8 degrees out there right now!    Till later girls! xoxoxo Jeannette

Loved the baby pictures.  Such a precious baby.

    Kelly:

Send me some WARM   and    DRY.    Fast !!!!!!!!

We're supposed to get pelted again.

Chevyboy~   I keep meaning to tell you for the longest time how much I love your saying at the bottom of your emails about being a friend.

SUSIE~  Come out come out wherever you are.

That was one brave cat in that picture.  And lots of them are that brave too.  LOL

Caroline ~ Your grandson is adorable! What a little sweetie pie! I also have pics of my kids in the sink. When my boys were in their teens I used to tease that I would bring the pics out when the girlfriends came over... LOL!

Jeanette ~ So glad StillVertical is doing better, I will continue to pray for her recovery and wisdom for her next step in treatment. Wow, that must have been a bunch of police dogs! Bonnie is right that is one brave kittie and some super well trained dogs.  My two would have gone nuts!

Harley ~ Yes it was hard to watch! He broke his collar bone at practice one time, I wasn't there and when I picked him up he said he had a "stinger".  I took one look at it and drove him across the road to the emergency room! I much preferred baseball season, with seeds, sun, and chatting to other moms. I made some good friendships then and still keep in touch with a few of the ladies even though our boys are grown! Smile

Bonnie ~ Keep warm and safe! I am mentally sending you warm and dry... come Spring come!! Cool

    Have a lovely day ladies!

    Kelly :)

Thanks for the pic!!  Yes, that cat sure IS brave!!  LOL

    Kelly

Maybe it's a good thing that I couldn't have kids.

Hope everyone has a great day!  It's fixin' to rain here again...  like my Southern accent??

SusieQ...  WHERE ARE YOU???   I hope you are doing ok, and just too busy to pop in here...

Hey - anyone cutting back their doseage of anything because T increases its efficacy?  I have cut back my Prevacid to 1/2

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Tamoxibeauties!  Let it snowwwwwwwwwwwwww LOL

How you doing Bonnie with all of it?  It is pretty, but, I have had enough now.  So, let it go away.  lol  The winds are supposed to bad tonight, but, I will not be driving it.  Let me say that again..I will NOT be driving in it.  lol  Hubby called and said the roads were awful already.  Told him to leave early, but, I doubt that he will.

I loved the superbowl!  My team won!  And, I loved the Who!  I don't know a lot about them, but, I liked their songs!  Had a great time..lots of people..lots of food...lots of fun!

Soooooooooo, someone needs a kitty pic fix?  Not yet!  lol

Have to continue my cleaning of this big old house!  Be on later.

Hi to everyone and hope you are all doing well and safe today!

Morning girls!  Catbird.....LOVE that saying, ha!  too funny!

And Susie....I just think the pictures you put on here are so cute!  And is that your "picture" or did you post some picture of a movie star?  Ha!  You are so pretty!

Harley 44....I almost started Femara..The Oncologist thought I should switch from Tamoxifen to Femare, & I could afford it, sort of, but I haven't had any side effects from the T pill, so I didn't want to start something new.....Let me know how you do!

And yes Kelly, StillVerticle is alright, just not good yet...But she ate a whole $15 box of chocolates....by herself!  Good for her...man, she deserves it!   If you go to the thread called  Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc? you will find her....and me....and if you go back several pages on there, you can kind of follow what she has gone through....We are older women, but we sure don't act like it sometimes...Wink  And we can say stuff on this forum, that, you know, we can't talk about at home, or with our family...And that's what friends are for....!

Okay girls....talk to you later!  xoxoxoxox

    Susie,

LOVE the kitty pic!!  So cute!  Good to see you are back...  We missed you!!

    Chevyboy,

Oh, I can understand not wanting to switch to Femara... If it ain't broke, don't try to 'fix' it...
I'm doing ok so far... having more HOT moments, especially at night, and that makes it kind of hard to sleep...

    Have a great day, ladies!

    Harley

P.S.   I've been having these AWFUL headaches!  But, I think they are weather related... it's been rainy and ugly... lots of 'fronts' moving in, and when the barometric pressure changes, that triggers these headaches...   today, it's windy, windy, winds day!   LOL

just a question, has anybody else been offered an Aromatase inhibitors? Such as Femara, Aromasin, or Arimidex.  My onc has given me the option to take these along with a 'LHRH" instead of Tamoxifen...was this ever an option for any of you?  I am leaning to the big T, but want to look at all my  options.  I have also been offered up Big T along with the "LHRH"...also cant seem to find to much about this mystery "LHRH".

Hey Harley!  You are having headaches?  Yikes!  I have been having them again, but, I am not for sure if it is tamox again or just the weather too.  We have had so many storms and fronts moving thru that can cause me to get a headache.  But, my excedrin still rids me of them.  Whew.  I ought to buy stock in that company!  lol

    Love, Susie

Morning Gals!  I've only been on Tamoxifen for 1 1/2 months...and no side effects, I don't think....WinkExcept little mysterious "parts' that hurt sometimes, but I can live with that!  My new Oncologist also wanted me to go on Femara, & gave me 3 months supply, but I got home, read all I could about that drug, a lot on THIS forum, & decided I don't WANT to change yet!   I'm going for a check-up with my Radiologist on the 2nd, & I'm going to whine, & tell her I want to stay on Tamoxifen...THEY said that's what I probably would take, both she & the Surgeon....So I hope they will let this old gal just stay on the T pill!  And it's better for your bones....I heard!    Okay, now I'll go look up LHRH!   Geez, my brain is getting full again, ha!  See you girls! xoxoxoxo

    Hi Tamoxitrainers....Beauties ALL,

It's still snowing away here.  Never seems to end.  KELLY ~~  I'm trying as hard as I can to feel the warm thoughts you're sending me.  I'm at least starting to get a tad ....  now if it will just please stop snowing and freezing.  LOL

SUSIEQ~~  Glad your Saints won.  I think God and/or lots of guardian angels had a hand in that victory.  It just felt right.   And thanks for the kitty pic/fix.

To all my buds there I wish an early SPRING.

    Take Care

Chevyboy, I've been taking Tamox for 2 weeks and 5 days.  No side effects yet either-  zero, nada, zilch! I really hope this continues!  Good luck with your doctor's appointments!

I haven't had any hot flashes yet.  If anything, I feel colder this winter than last year.  I have the heat cranked all the way up and I'm wearing two jackets and drinking hot coffee and I'm still cold.

I'm sorry about all of you that are dealing with too much snow!  You could always send some of it south-  I could use a snow day down here!

Micheleboots, it looks like they use LHRH to chemically induce menopause to allow pre-menopausal women to use AI's:

Medicines can be used to temporarily stop the ovaries from making estrogen. Two of the most common ovarian shutdown medicines are:

    • Zoladex (chemical name: goserelin)
    • Lupron (chemical name: leuprolide)

Zoladex and Lupron are both luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists. These medicines work by telling the brain to stop the ovaries from making estrogen. The medicines are given as injections once a month for several months or every few months. Once you stop taking the medicine, the ovaries begin functioning again. The time it takes for the ovaries to recover can vary from woman to woman.

Women who want to bear children after breast cancer treatment may prefer medical shutdown of the ovaries over surgical ovary removal.

Deciding to have your ovaries shut down with medicine or surgically removed requires a lot of careful thought and discussion with your doctor. Tell your doctor about any fertility concerns you may have. Together you can weight the benefits and the risks against each other and decide on the best option for you and your unique situation.

    Susie,

Yes, I have been getting lots of headaches, and I think it's weather-related.  We have had lots of fronts moving in, and lots of rain, too.  It is cold and windy here now, which also seems to trigger these headaches.  I did buy some Excedrin, so I'm going to see how well that works...   I have read that it's not good to take Acetaminophen (sp)  , especially if you are drinking any alcohol.  I don't drink alot, but tomorrow we are going out to my favorite restaurant for my dh's  birthday, and I will probably have a glass of champagne, to celebrate...

Well ladies, I jumped off the train today, called the onc. and told him I am done. I have been on tamox since May, and in Oct. the bone and joint pain started. At my onc. appt last month, he told me the pain was probably a side effect from chemo. Well, the pain was absolutely incredible. I decided to see if it was the tamox. And after skipping just 2 pills, I feel great!!! The bone and joint pain has subsided drastically! I can't believe it. He still says it shouldn't cause that much pain. Well it did. I see him again the 24th. I can't wait to hear what he says.

I hope everybody continues to have a smooth ride!!!!

Morning kjbell!  I don't blame you!  Sometimes we just gotta take matters into our own hands!  I'm just scared to tell my Oncologist that I WANT to stay on Tamoxifen...She gave me 3 months supply Femara, & after reading all the posts & side effects, I just don't want to start it!  I'm seeing my Radiologist in a couple weeks, so I'll whine to her about it!   I have been taking it about 1 1/2 months, with NO side effects, either, Sparrow & Harley44!   But I KNOW we are all different...But just stay with us kjbell....just hope you feel better now!

Okay Tbuddies....talk to you later! xoxoxoxoxo Jeannette

I just wrote two articles on the effects of antidepressants on tamoxifen. Here is the link to the most recent. Check the link near the end of the article. It will take you to a tamoxifen page that lists all drugs not recommended to be taken with tamoxifen because the render it useless. You stated you have been taking Prozac, which is listed as an inhibitor and so renders tamox useless. There are safe alternative antidepressants you can switch to (Effexor and Celexa). Good luck.
