I have not had a hysterectomy but am on Tamoxifen. I am just wondering if those feeling exhausted have had your Vitamin D levels checked. Mine were way low and I had 8 weeks of high dosages and now on 2000 mg per day. I was really tired before and now am doing so much better. Just a thought.

Good thought Goofycat. I tend to be low on vit Dand am on 2000mg/day. Maybe need to get checked to see if it’s enough..

    Kechla:

I was on 2000 maybe and Vit D level better but not high enough. Went to 5000 and that did the trick. I think that much is not harmful -- but have it checked and see what they say. (In the event it's really low or something.)

We still have to have QOL. So much is restricted or we feel guilty doing.

    ENJOY your weekend!

@TaRenee, I have not gotten rip roaring but close enough the night after Thanksgiving. I think once in a while is not a bad thing. I explained it to myself that it was my night to not have to worry and feel like everyone else. So I had quite a few. Paid for it the next day but doubled up on the water drinking and advil. I say enjoy....

TaRenee: LOL!  I don't drink, but now I even skip the Communion wine . -- due to the fact that I have about 5 doctors / oncology researchers right behind me in choir!

Have mercy, I have my 3 mo follow up with my MO scheduled for Dec 29. Have had it set for 3 months. Made holiday plans around that date. You know the drill. Then yesterday they call and want to reschedule for Jan 1 or 2. I asked if we were doing blood work and the girl said “it’s your 3 month check. Yes blood work will certainly be a part of that appointment” I told her that no, he doesn’t want to see me New Years Day for blood work. Nope not changing that one. These two parties are the only two I’m giving myself permission to cut loose at. No way am I going to the doctor the next day! lol. I also explained I had arranged all my travel plans months ago around that appointment so I really couldn’t change it unless we push it to the end of Jan. No, that’s okay. Keep it that day and we will set it for earlier in the day. Ok. That’s fine. But really? 3 months ago you knew the schedule just like I did.

Tarenee-I do it about once every 6 months or so. Things just get out of hand sometimes.

Tonight was a big night for me. I went to my old school and was the MC for their Christmas Music Program. To explain what a big deal this was... I taught at that elementary school for 14 years. I found out at the end of the school year that I was being moved up to middle school. So I haven’t seen these kids since June. When I got there I got mobbed! It was one giant group hug. So before the program started whenever they went to line up, I went to see the kids in the program so that’s the first time they saw me wouldn’t be on stage. Good plan. They were so excited to see me. It made me feel so good. I really do love where I am now, but’s I sure do miss MY kids. (I had them from preK through 5th grade... they will always be mine!) 250 kids IN the program. And 1 girl who Cameron NOT to be in the program, but to see me. Made her mom bring her because she knew I would be there.

    What a great night

Have any of you ladies had sleepless nights since starting tamoxifen? I take mine in the morning and i still can't sleep very good at night. Any suggestions? I'm tired😴

    Thanks

Funny you should mention sleep issues with Tamox just now. I woke up a little while ago and remarked, to myself, how much my sleep has improved over the past month or so. I did notice that I had some sleep issues on Tamox initially. I could get to sleep but I couldn't stay asleep for enough hours.

However, I was never really sure that the Tamox was the real issue. Toward the end of chemo, I started having sleep issues too. I only had a month between the end of chemo and start of Tamox. Also, my estrogen levels dropped significantly during/after chemo. So, that could cause sleep issues too! So, I really don't know the cause of the sleep issues.

However, I am not almost three months on Tamox, and my sleep started improving, consistently, about 6 weeks ago. It might have been the chemo still in my system, while I started the Tamox. It might be my body adjusting to lower estrogen. Who knows. I thought about trying Melatonin, which my MO approved for temporary sleep disturbances, but I really wanted to try to let things work out on their own---since I had not started working at that time.

Thank goodness my sleep has gone back to normal...I started work about 3 weeks ago. I will keep Melatonin around for temporary use, however.

Hope things get better for you. I know how frustrating sleep issues can be!

Yesterday, I took a 20mg dose, as opposed to 2 x 10mgs spread apart by several hours. I did notice an intensification of side effects. I plan to take an 8pm dose and a 12pm dose. That seems to work the best for me, with minimal side effects.

I have been on Tamoxifen for 2 years now. It seems like I have turned a corner. My hot flashes have definitely decreased. My sleep is way better and some of the aches and pains I had have gone away. I don't know if it is due to the fact that my body has adjusted to it or if its due to all the chemo crap finally being out of my body. I was using CBD oil and Medical Marijuana to help with my pain as well as for sleep. I have stopped taking both of those now and am doing good.

Hang in there, it does get better.

My main issues have been headache between the eyes, increase in tinnitus, stuffy nose and general feeling of being off balance and bit dizzy. All around the 5hour mark after taking it. Finally switched to taking it at about 5:15pm instead of 8am. Big difference for me. I sleep off the peak effects of the pill. Key point is also that I have no problem sleeping either times I took it.

Not only have I not been able to sleep at night, I get really tired in the afternoon. It almost feels like the same tiredness I had during rads (which continued for a month and a half or so after rads ended). It almost feels like a fog on my brain. Anyway, I just stopped the tamo a few days ago-- have been sleeping thru the night, and not so tired in the afternoon. Also, unrelated but the joints in my hands would get really stiff and sore overnight. I thought maybe it was arthritis, but that is going away now too.
