Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I went to church today, for the first time in the last 5 months of my service as "super granny."
I'm HOME at MY house. My DH will return here in the next hour!! My SIL is home at their house, everyone has air conditioning in their respective houses, no one has the creeping crawling poison crud.... all's right with the world.
Tomorrow starts the rest of my life.
hugs to each and all at the beach...... deborye good to see you back again. now where'd summer go? Margo got some great entries into the big search and find!! Looks like Spar's the big winner this time.....
Actually I think Sahalie's the biggest winner for concocting such fun for our weekend diversion.
Thanks to you......
and the fact that you lured celia into the fray -- just shows how good you were.
Wings is gonna be so sore that she missed the whole thing.
smiling, smiling, smiling.
How long will it take to "un-do" the five months of piles, debris, clutter, nonsense & dodads?
Jasmine will you come by when you're done at your place and help crack the whip?

Hello Beach Angels. Sorry I haven't posted today but woke up a bit under the weather and have been sleeping it off. I'm feeling much better now. Must have been something I ate yesterday.
Faith -- that is absolutely wonderful about SIL's return. I'm guessing that your daughter is very happy too and is ready to start the rest of her life now. There is just something like time suspended when a loved one is gone and you have to wait for their return. But all is right with the world now.
Sahalie -- thank you for such a fun game. I can't wait for our next adventure.
Spar -- you are quite the explorer yourself and did very well on the scavenger hunt. I went to Michaels yesterday and looked at the glass art kits but wasn't sure it those were the right ones. They were very pretty though and I had intended to go back and get one today. Maybe next weekend.
Hello to eveyrone else. Sorry but I'm not up to naming eveyrone right now but I will do better tomorrow.
Going to go lay down again...talk to you later.

OH NO ALways, sure hope you are up to your normal self tomorrow. That darn bar is driving me crazy, I won't be able to sleep until I know what it is. I am fixing to go work on my hummingbird plexiglass to stain.
Faith, you are so busy and am so happy for you to have all your family together again.
I have been happy today because every Sunday we visit a different church in town, have been doing it for a year now and never felt at home. Well, today I think we found us a church home, and it feels so good. Soon as we walked out me and dh looked at each other and both said I like it. Saw people I know there also, like the lady that works in my dr. office. They actually preached a good sermon from the bible.
Sahalie, it was a fun game and I have missed you today and envy you being where it is cool.
Everyone have a wonderful beachy evening.

Happy late lunch flyby. Am attempting to begin to re-enter my own life.
In a true murphy's tribute, yesterday I was carrying WB upstairs to his nap and he began to struggle and somehow I've hurt my back. Geeee WHIZ!
Hurts to do anything today: sit, stand, or laydown.
Hoping that it gets better without trotting the babeez about all day.
It truly always is something, isn't it? I guess that's why it's called life.
Jasmine, so glad that you're better......
Spar, love the picture above.
hugs to each an allllllll resting in your own cabanas.

Happy Day Beachie Keens.
Jaz. I'm so glad you feel better. What got grab hold of you?
Spar. YOu are the contest Queen with Faith right along side of you.
Your driftwood with the rocks in it is beautiful. What great finds you share.
I'm so happy for you and the family that you have found just the right church.
That is a very warm and fuzzy feeling. I know.
SoCalLisa. You found some really beautiful answers.
We stayed an extra day. What can I say. We had such a grand time and it's just
too beautiful up there.
We got up with the crickets and drove home by light of the silvery moon.
All settled in now but colds are all around. I'm convinced it's all the nasty lingering
smoke over head holding the nasty germs at nostril level so some of us are wheezing
and not feeling so swell.
Foots. Thanks for the note and information.
Faith. Reading back I see you have had wonderful non stop festivities since SIL
is home but you hurt your back.
After all your globe trotting and now to be home in your own comfort zone and your back
gets hurt.
You need the warmth of the sand on the beach and some gentle hands and warm stones
to relieve those back muscles.
Take your mind back to Aruba when ever you can for R&R.
Thank you for what you said on the previous page.

It's cooler here thank goodnessie bless it. Lisa, is San Diego cooler this week?

the sand dunes?
We are missing YOU.
And Faith. Wings. Foots. Lisa of SoCal. Margaret. Deborye. Celia. Summer.

Spar. I enjoyed reading your summer reading answers.
Ah yes. Nancy Drew. The Chronicles of Narnia. Ursula LeGuin. Gary Paulsen.
I love books.
I couldn't put down Jurassic Park. Did you read that? I read it before the movie came out.
It has enough in the book for three or four movies. They switched the girl and boy roles
around and the math scientist dies differently in the book.
What a edge of the seat read.
And Gary Paulson. What a writer and most of his stories are true from his childhood.
One famous one is "Hatchet" my brothers loved. I liked his "My Life In Dog Years"
It will make you laff. Cry and love it. I recommend it.
He even made his own bow and arrows one summer while living in the woods as a boy.
He didn't believe in hunting with a gun or rifle. Thought it was too easy. I don't like hunting
in any form but his stories are spell binding.
I also like Bill Bryson's books. Anne Lamott. Jean Auel series. Anything by Michener.
And Stephen Ambrose' "Undaunted Courage" Amazing book. I loved it.

Something to ponder while I make my way to the Beach. Laters. XOXO

"We wake up each morning to a world we did not make. How did it get here? How did we get here? We open our eyes and see that 'old bowling ball the sun' careen over the horizon. We wiggle our toes. A mockingbird takes off and improvises on themes set down by robins, vireos, and wrens, and we marvel at the intricacies.... There is so much here--around, above, below, inside, outside. Even with the help of poets and scientists we can account for very little of it. We notice this, then that.... Before long we are looking out through telescopes and down into microscopes, curious, fascinated by this endless proliferation of sheer Is-ness--color and shape and texture and sound.
After awhile we get used to it and quit noticing. We get narrowed down into something small and constricting. Somewhere along the way this exponential expansion of awareness, this wide-eyed looking around, this sheer untaught delight in what is here, reverses itself: the world contracts; we are reduced to a life of routine through which we sleepwalk. But not for long. Something always shows up to jar us awake."

They all sound like good reads. I did read one of Lance Armstrongs books and could not put it down. I love anything by Nicholas Sparks such as the notebook, note in a bottle. He is amazing. I usually go to the library and check out about 6 books every 3 weeks but the library here is so small compared to Norman that I find it disappointing at time. Norman always had the brand new books soon as they came out but Pauls Valley still doesn't even have the new Stephanie Plum book yet. When I ask where their new book were they showed me this one little shelf that had maybe 3 books on it. Now, sometimes I buy books instead of waiting. Anyway, hopefully everyone will come along soon. Going to go have some supper.

Spar and Sahalie.......... you've had such a nice day keeping each other company. What a nice welcome home greeting to those of us awol from the waving waves and the flipping floppers.
I spent about 3 hours this morning putting together a HUGE piece of documentation for a state proposal, had it all saved, but somehow it was vaporized anyhow. Between that and my aching back I really cried crocodile tears of frustration..... took my laptop over to DH's office and started over under his helpful tutorial eye. Got it all rewritten and sent. Also managed to get all of my other paperwork and invoices up to date and we went out to dinner to celebrate.
I have such little tolerance for the 'frustrations' of everyday life.
Just LOVED coming here and seeing all of the gorgous images from the two of you. Really brightened my sagging spirits.
I just have to realize it's gonna take a while to clear away all of this dross, before I get to work on any of the "fun" stuff.

Good evening Beach Angels. Work was busy with meetings today so couldn't play.
Sahalie, I love love love your questions. Here goes:
1) Do you think of summer as a particularly good season for reading? Why or why not?
Summer is a good season, especially now that I'm much older and less able to enjoy active activities. It gives me something to do at the lake with my friends. They accept that who I am and that I most enjoy sitting and doing needlework or reading. I actually think winter is the best season for reading though. When its too cold to do much outside, I love to start a fire in the fireplace, get a nice cup of cocoa coffee (coffee poured over a package of hot chocolate), and rread or do needlework.
2) Have you ever fallen asleep reading on the beach?
Nope, being landlocked I can't say I've ever fallen asleep ever at the beach. Plus, I'm not that crazy about the beach. I love to visit it and see the emenseness of God's handiwork but its sticky and gritty.
3) Can you recall a favorite childhood book read in the summertime.
One summer our school had a book fair and I bought a book called The Four Story Mistake. It was a charming story and I've never been able to find the book since. I also enjoyed reading Jane Eyre. I loved anything Charles Dickens when I was growing up and have read most of his stories, even those lesser known.
4) Do you have a favorite genre for light or relaxing reading?Right now, I can only read mysteries like the Alex Cross series or the Stephanie Plum books. I can't handle anything sad or depressing right now. The same goes for movies. I don't want anything with even a hint of sadness.
5) What is the next book on your reading list?I have been working to declutter my home and one area is the vast collection of books that I have. I never finished a series that I started so I've finally gotten the last book but its been so long since I read the first one that I've decided to reread the entire series and then donate the books. The series is the Left Behind series. A great read and very thought provoking.
I have also been searching for something to make all my sisters for Christmas and think I have finally found the perfect thing.
Has anyone heard from Wings lately?

Oh Faith, so sorry about the lost work. If you use MS Word you can set the program up to automatically save and backup your work every 10 or 15 minutes. That's a real shame.
Spar, I can't figure the club thing out either. Its a real stumper.
