Great Morning on the Beach All !

I've been up in Portland.  Family thing.

I hope everyone is doing OK and the Beach has sun and fun.

I was able to check on the board briefly to see about a dear friend struggling while I was away.

Spar you are an Angel the comfort you show on the Beach.  XOXO.

Julz.  You and your grandbaby look so happy!

I have company due here around noon today then a bbq at friends with the company tonight.

See you all soon OK.  This is a busy last few days and weekend.

Waving to All our shining shells. Everyone even tho' I didn't do each name.

I see I have a Valentine so better go read it.

Julz, you do know now that I am gonna have to make some shell candles.  Yea, another craft.  I need to go back to hobby lobby.

It is pouring down rain here.  We did take the granddaughter swimming at the bosa center which has an indoor pool.  It was fun, not crowded and friendly little kids. Now we are home and starving.  Will try to get back on later. Love and hugs from A - Z

    Hi everyone:

Because of this board, I got a ride to see Jacqueline.   Jacqueline is having a very long rest on the beach with her guardian angel nearby.  It was nice to surprise her and I gave her a big stuffed rabbit that is squishy in the middle (a hug) and an angel to watch over her.  It was a good day for her, made better by the company.  And now I have a new friend from the boards.  And although she drove down to meet me, it is because of Jacqueline that we met.  And now, Dreamwriter needs to spend some time digging in the hot sand for shells and other treasures.  My polka dot thongs are nearby as my toes like sand.  It is amazing how much support my sisters of the beach and off the beach have given me.

Saint is the carpet done?  Can you take a rest now?  Stop being a workhorse an sit with me.  I love talking to you.

Spar.... I love the thought of a fellow crafter... now I can share my craft ideas with someone..... I get a lot of them from girl guide meetings and come up with an original one or two of my own

Julz.... I would send you a card but I dont know where to mail it.... All cards are hand made and no design is repeated, no matter how successful it is.....

Celia.... you have such an eye for colour - have you ever thought of putting it all together for one of those coffee table books the muckity mucks like to buy? Call it One Shell of a Time!

SoCalLisa... my life will not be complete until you send me a daisy or two.  I love daisies..could almost put a happy face in the middle.

Beach bunnies -- one and all Z to A and back again...........

We are HOME safe and sound, by way of the babeez and WB's home. Too pooped to think straight. Just wanted you to know how happy I am to come and find new friends: welcome Earl and all of the old regulars frolicking with the muscle bound lads, amidst the shells.

Saint's B & B is truly royal treatment. We had an incredible salmon roast last night -- topped off with yummy ice cream cake, to celebrate everything spectacular...... then this a.m. saint whipped together an egg fritata that belonged on a cooking show!

I have some pics to share -- and will do so tomorrow, once I can find the cord to download them. Have to unpack the little truck tomorrow.

hugs, lemonade, shells, and a squeeze up and down the beach! be careful, those near the path of the storm. sleep well.

    Hi All,

With summer winding down so has my beach time.

Just wanted you all to know I have been thinking of you.

Spar - Have you moved into your new home and decided on a porch for it? We built a wood deck the full length of our hip roof/loft barn and just love having the extra seating area outside.

Julz - How is our night owl of the beach doing? What a cute grandbaby!

Sahalie - Enjoy your time with family and friends and travel safe back to the beach.

JaZ - I was in Hobby Lobby a couple of days ago and thought of you. I purchased a few things to decorate a float for our town's 175 Heritage parade.

Celia - Neat shell pics. I liked the Angel shell looks like it would be a fun project.

Faith - Your motorcycle pic was awesome. So neat to hear about all your new job endeavors. The DC children were just talking about your Pollywog song a few days ago.

Saint - Great glimpse of your daughter and her ballet dance. So touching she was able to dedicate the dance for you to enjoy.

Foots - Sorry to hear you are still having a rough time. And through it all you still manage to stay positive.

Lisa - Your pictures belong in a museum. Have you ever entered them in a photo contest?

Harley and Biker Jan - Waving the biker wave to my fellow bikers. Any fall bike trips planned? I love to ride when the fall colors appear.

Dreamwriter - So nice you got to spend time with your friend. I bet it brightened her day.

Margo - Welcome back hugs. Can't wait to see pics.

Hi to those I missed and to our newcomers.

Slumber party.  Too much noise and stuff tonight so am wired and can't sleep.

Therefore a little note to each.

Spar.  The pictures you posted on this page are beautiful.  I like the candle in the shell idea too.  It looks like it would be kinda easy for us to make don't you think.  Let's try. Just wait till I get back from our trip and the Holidays are on their way.  We can all go wild sharing craft finds.  Oh and the duck picture . . .  adorable.  How's your little quacker doing?

Julz.  I know what you mean about our babies growing up.  No grands for me yet but one day I hope.  I love the pictures you posted too.  The candle in the shell is a winner.

Jaz.  I know you are working and so busy but we sure miss you.  XOXO always.

Celia.  Wonderful art works and creations of steller works you share with us.  We have three shell angels we collected over the years on visits to Hawaii and we put them on our Christmas tree.  I love them.

Faith.  I'm so happy for you that your career is going great guns and you sound so happy.  I too loved the motorcycle picture.  So cute.  I know you told us but I must have missed it.  Do you guys go to the summer place each summer for several weeks?

Saint.  You have a B&B?  How exciting and fun.  Is there a website for it?

FootsbabeDeb.  I wish you every goodness each day.  You are a special friend.

Lisa.  Yeah.  Way to pick 'em.  I also loved the museum pieces you shared.

Harley.  I hope and pray all is going well for you in your journey of appts. and care.  Did you ever receive your complimentry flip flops?

Janny.  Hello to you and all friends we have in common.  Know what I'm saying'  XOXO.

Dreamwriter.  Welcome again and I am so happy to read you did get a ride to see your friend.  Made a new friend by way of the ride.  That is a wonderful shade of compassion on all sides.  I pray your friend is stable and out of pains way.

Margo.  Aloha Wahine.  It's ruff coming home from the tropics isn't it.  Weeks away for us.  I'm loving our cooler temps this week and weekend.

Wings.  How great to see your post.  Are you still varooming around in your hot wheels?

Life is just so amazing, isn't it? I'm just back from our church service, where today there was a guest 'preacher' of such depth and wisdom -- I sat in tears thru most of his message -- moved by his insight, capability, research and manner. What a gift to receive.

Just want to wave a quick wave @ the waves. A delighted sense of peace washes over me to come here this morning and see such "good vibrations" (somebody cue YouTube)

I'm going momentarily to get my hair cut (and restored to it's natural youthful appearance -- by coloring all of those gray hairs I've earned in this wild trip of mine. LOL)

See ya later -- maybe, much later tonight.........

hugs, lemonade, shells, craftie projects, art-ie reflections to each and all.........

    Happy Sunday, Beach Buds!

I've been busy, busy this weekend, which is a good thing.  We went to a party last night to celebrate friends renewing their wedding vows.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  Our crazy friend, Dan, officiated.  He is the minister who wears the crazy Hawiian shirts.

Celia, I don't know if any of my grandfather's work is in the Phila. Museum of Art.  I've been there also and don't remember anyone saying anything about it.

Julz, thanks for posting that pic of one of his paintings.  I have an original painting of his, that is very similar to the one you posted.

Wings, good to hear from you!  We do have a fall foliage ride planned for Oct.  I always love those.  Fall is so beautiful here.

Sahalie, you know I always pass along your greetings.  It is very much appreciated!

A quick hi to Spar, Faith, Footie, SoCal, Dreamwriter, Shrink, Saint, Jaz (where are you?), Margo and anyone else I missed.  Thanks to all who posted the beautiful pictures of the shells.  My favorites are the edible ones!

Lisa, that painting is so interesting to me and she looks like i should know her...familiar somehow!

    __________________________________________________________________________

Here are instructions that i found for the shell angel written by a woman on the following website

    http://www.freewebs.com/artsy-fartsy-family/howtoinstructions.htm

The shell angel is way down the page after instructions for how to make a couple of other angels (a hymnal angel and some variations).

    How to Create Seashell Angels

    Assemble all supplies

    • Scissors
    • Oval Head
    • Seashell
    • Raffia
    • Glue (not pictured - I use hot glue)
    • Polyurethane (not pictured - to spray wooden head, if desired)

Spray wooden head with polyurethane or clear coat so it can dry while assembling the body of the angel. Or, paint face on as desired. I prefer to leave mine without a face to keep a plain, natural look.

Fold raffia for wings (color of your choice) in a figure 8 pattern, then tie in center. Refer to photo below.

I then put a dab of glue on tie and trim raffia up to tie.

Glue raffia wings onto either the front or back of seashell even with the very top of the shell. This gives the head extra base to be glued to. See below for example of seashell using both the front and the back.

I usually decide which side by choosing the one that has the color I am looking for.

Glue the head onto the center of the shell and raffia wings.

I like to use the raffia for the halo. In one I used just a small piece of raffia glued in a circle to the back of the wooden head. On the other, I braided the halo, glued in a circle and then glued to the back of the wooden head.

Last step is to apply the tie. In the first one, I tied the loop around her neck and the folded up and tied in a loop for the hang tie. On the second one, I tied the loop and glued to the back of the head.

That's it! Very simple and super cute!

** Hindsight, I should have added extra length to the tie I used to tie the middle of the wings and used that for my hang tie instead of clipping it off.
