Thanks dear beachies.
I'm so grateful to have your continued support.

Today was my sit-in-delirium recovery day of idle smiling.
Can't I even particularly follow or connect two thoughts in a row. Yesterday was 19.5 hours of blasting outta the canon, running from terminal to terminal at the airport hyper activity.
Today is savor and s-l-o-w.
Thank goodness I can have this to follow that...............
edited to add a picture at the top of the page, this is sundown over the Utah mountains in Zion National Park:
I see that we're creeping up on a page 650 party.
That should unfold right about the time Barbara returns from her cruise & KK gets her pictures downloaded. I smell real seasalts in our future!!!

My sister had pictures of her first child's birth (yep, everything) and had them hanging in a grocery bag on the bedroom door of her hotel suite. Yep, the maid threw them out!!! They were Polaroids. No one else was taking pictures! hehehehehehe Great idea though 3jays, and nice how it worked out for you! One of the best shots of my first wedding (which I don't have now) was from someone who took me and my Dad going up the aisle, head shots against the stained glass. I was impressed. Wish I could see it now.....32 years ago...sigh.

When DH and I got married, his mother said her friend was a professional photographer, and I trusted her. I wrote a list of all the pictures I wanted, but MIL and the photog. had other ideas and took all pictures of that side of the family and then as time was short before the ceremony, her camera broke. One camera. Does any pro only bring one camera? So she borrow a cheapie camera. I have one pic of DH and I from the side, and a few of the family. I have some pics that my brother and uncle took. BIL wouldn't give us the pictures took on his camera, just excuse after excuse. I tell everyone prepping for a wedding, that the photos are nothing to skimp on.

When we got married we were on a very tight budget. Family and friends did almost everything. I bought the fabric, a friend of the family copied my designer dream dress. The parents of the groom did the invitations, cake and flowers for free. I went along to the wholesaler to pick out flowers and got to help wrap the stems for the bouquets. Even both preachers were long time family friends and the organist a relative and all refused remuneration. My only splurge was to hire a photographer, but I never purchased a singly picture from her. The friend who introduced us is an amateur photographer. He followed the pro around and used her set ups. In every case his shot was better than hers because he knew us and was able to anticipate that perfect moment when our expressions would be "just right". He even photographed the events prior to the wedding. The bachelor party, rehearsal and dinner, etc. on The Day he caught the groom getting out of the shower, all of the beauty and barber shop appointments even! We have the slides from 10 rolls of 36 exposure film. We were very lucky.

I have taken alot of shots at weddings, etc and sent them to the persons involved.
One of the gals was the father of the groom and she said the hired photographer
never thought to take some of the shots of the groom..so she was very happy I
had taken them

My husband was invited to weddings along with his camera. For the cost of the film, which he handed over to the groom, that was our wedding gift. Dave was great at getting those special moments and made sure he covered everyone present before they got drunk and did stupid things.

Everyone needs a friend like that. I am sure the couple truly appreciated that gift!

Okay, it's one of those times where I find I want to comment on a lot of posts, but I never seem to do it well by grouping, so there will be several posts from me!! Wedding shots - hub and I had a quickie wedding (read into that if you like!!) with a nice party after at my brother's house. No photographer. Went to hub's sister's house a few weeks later and here my b-i-l had taken great pics and put them in a very professional looking album. Shots that I didn't even remember posing for, like family groupings and wedding party (6 of us), were all in there. What an unexpected treasure. Jumping ahead 33 yrs ... dd's wedding in Key West this year ...she had professional but asked everyone to send her their shots via link or whatever too. She made up an awesome book for me by using Shutterfly and incorporating pics from everyone - some professional, some not - and including the 5 days we were there. She gave it to me for Christmas and I've looked at about 50 times already, I jsut love it Aren't pictures awesome?

barbe, your comment about that unusual picture at your wedding reminded me of this pic from dd's wedding. an uncle of the groom took it and it's the one I printed and framed and put in my office, there's just something about it that I love. I know dd and her dad had no idea it was being taken, so to see their natural smiles just makes me warm all over

Lisa, when I go places and see that I got good pics, I burn onto CD and mail to the bride or groom or birthday person or whoever! I've gotten such nice notes back thanking me because sometimes you just get that perfect shot without even trying. that's a good feeling0

Faith, o m g ... those pics! there's something about that first one with the snaking land mass that really gets to me. I see a screen background in that one Of course, I'd still rather that he was home, taking pictures of the kids. God speed to him.0

Yep-I stole that land snake amidst the blue for my home desktop picture! Beautimus!

Gorgeous pics, Faith and Mum. So amazing to look at. Marlegal, Shutterfly rocks! I send pics of my son in a hardcover book to both his grandmas at Christmas, and they both absolutely love it. It's easy to use, too.
