LIFES A BEACH!

Lisa, I can understand your Mom. Before I retired I had to work 3 weeks in Virginia Beach. Our hotel was on the Beach so the day we came home I watched sunrise on the Atlantic. It was just sunset when I got back here and I insisted we drive right to the beach before going home so I could see sunset on the Pacific on the same day.

Here's a picture of my 'original PreBILAT surgery polka dot suit.'
This is about 6 weeks post surgery a year ago in Daytona.
FYI: I'm wearing the swim suit 'as is' meaning I hadn't used any stuffies or fluffies or augmentation. Just the suit on my chest.
Since then I have created some swimmies from those netting scrubbies, as per the recipe posted somewhere here at BCO.
So I suppose I could take a new picture with that "look."
Just imagine if I carry my new purse (made yesterday) to the pool:
When I like something, I REALLY like it:
black and white polka dots
daisies
the beach.........
not necessarily in that order.

Wow Faith, polkadots fits you well!
I had to throw away my old swimsuit cause I do have to wear my prosthesis "special for swimming" in a special bathing suit because my chest is now too concave on the M side. In fact I was able to modify one of them, so it is my second when one is wet. With IBC I will not have reconstruction and I don't really mind.
Do I understand that you have made your purse? It is very very nice, felicitation!

Love those polka dots, Faith
I use a swimsuit for mastectomies..the same one now for nine years...oops,
do you think I need an update?

I spent the afternoon working in my yard. Thought you might like a peak at a couple of my flowers. They're drought tolerant and I'm trying to become eco friendly

Thank you Shell, I did make the purse with a local quilt club. There's a 'quilting thread' (LOL get it? quilting thread? LOL I'm easily entertained) in this very same section of the boards.... with several pictures of it underway & inside -- I'm happiest about the pockets.
Now, beachie friends, I interrupt this beachie sunshine to ask for some group think.
We made our airline reservations today and will be flying in and out of Zurich, Switzerland for our two week adventure. We have never traveled internationally together. My hubby will be doing all of the driving & schlepping.
My question of you international travelers...... do you have favorite/trusted/insightful websites or other resources, to help us make the 'most' of these two short weeks?
We will have little chunks of time here and there to go off on little larks. I've begun googling, but it seems that I need somewhere to begin with the searching -- otherwise I get easily 'lost' in the gazillion sites.
OK. Anybody with suggestions please interject. Thanks, team.

Deb, whenever we've gone international, we've relied on a local to show us the "real" city. You will see things you will never get anywhere else! In Turkey, the harbour captain held us back from getting a cab to our hotel. He had his son come in his cab. He then spent the next 5 days showing us the real Turkey. He would go into a restaurant before us and right into the kitchen to check it out before he'd let us eat there!! We'd stop by the side of the road and get fruit right off the trees. He went into our hotel and made sure we were well taken care of. Worth the $100 or so in money that he told us to pay him at the END of his tour if we were happy!
It was pretty surreal, as at one point we were in a bazzaar and his phone rang which I thought was pretty weird. Then he said it was for me!! We'd been questioning the dates on when the ferry was going back to Rhodes so he got us an English speaking agent! The only downfall was that DH wanted a briar pipe, but our quide thought we were looking for a hookah!! and wouldn't show us one. We had to get the pipes back in Greece.

Thanks for sharing your swim suit photo. I just remembered it from last year, and knew it was still in fashion for our beach this year, as is your wonderful smile!!!

Hi all. Just got back from the mandatory meeting my company had at a nice beach resort in Sand Key, 10 miles north of where I live. Here's a pic of the beach (which is next to Sand Key State Park, consistently in the top ten US beaches list). samsue, Siesta Beach is the BOMB, though. Cool sand. Very white and beautiful. They had a tent on the beach and we had dinner and live music (all 300 of us). It was kinda cool to meet my team members I communicate with daily in the flesh. We have offices in LA, Vegas, Denver, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Ft Lauderdale, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston, NYC, Rochester, Pittsburgh, Philly, and Chicago. Whew. That's a lot. They spent LOTS of $$ to do this and it was good BUT NOT ON MY WEEKEND!!!

Beautiful, Carollynn! I got married on Kauai, and remember seeing that natural spray, Spouting Horn. The monk seal pic is very special. I once saw a Wyland painting tutorial on PBS, and he painted one of those with lightning speed. He must have studied them so well. Thanks so much for sharing. I love that island.

I'm a little late on this, but the site http://www.tripadvisor.com is great for honest reviews of hotels and activities. Some destinations have contributions from locals too -- good source of info.0
