our internet is weak and infrequent at best, we are in the Netherlands
on a river somewhere...we just went through a couple of locks..at any rate
wanted to say congrats to Marl..at first I felt like a trapeze artist without a net
when I finished up the five years of hormone therapy, but it OK...for me it is
now five years after that and I am happy you are finished as well. We have
met a gal eating with us who is a 20 year survivor...

I don't see anything in your profile about how long ago you were diagnosed or what other treatment you had. I see you joined in 12/10 but I know that might be long after you were dx'd etc. Barbara that picture is ridiculous!!! This is the third time I've seen it and I still cannot believe it. Lisa, if you're reading this, I am in awe of your skills. These pictures are simply breathtaking and beautiful and calming and just overall wonderful.

I, too have internet.
Just had THE most amazing serendipitous 'thing' happen. We have arrived rather 'accidently' in Verona, Italy. (Somehow yesterday, we realized we didn't have a hotel booked for tonight -- Easter Saturday, and DH scrambled around to find a room available that we could afford at this last minute's notice.)
Anyhow, we somehow landed in Verona.
We were mucking about downtown, me maxing out my camera memory card again..... when we finally figured out our way to the ancient Roman Colloseum. We decided to go ahead and pay to enter and climb the interior walls.
We get to the top of the vista below -- of the town square -- and I'm just beginning to take some pictures -- when we hear a muffled Italian announcement over speakers in the square below. Up rolls the first of many, many, many US WWII ARMY vehicles: of every sort & description. Led by a couple of relic tanks, then jeeps, trucks, motorcycles -- many with sidecars, amphibious trucks, half-ton, Red Cross evacuation vehicles.
Anyhow. It would seem that we have stumbled into the annual day of celebration & re-enactment of the United States 'liberation' of Verona during WWII.
I took another 100 pictures of the unfolding, unbelievable 'parade'...... as the vehicles passed us below, they then began 'massing at the corner of the square.'
Ultimately we went down and mingled. Found an Italian woman who could speak English and she spoke long and eloquantly of the day and what it 'still' means to them. They were old. Her husband was dressed in US military uniform. Actually it seemed that ALL of those dressed as US soldiers were actually Italians.
The US flag was flying from the vast majority of the trucks and jeeps and motorcycles.
I shake my head in amazement -- that I am in Italy on contract with the US Army and we literally stumble into this day, completely unaware that it was about to unfold.

I hope every single one of us had an Easter Sunday, or just a Sunday if Easter isn't your thing, that made you happy. Neither of our kids were able to come over, so we worked around the house! Not what I might have scripted, but a good feeling at the end of the day to see what we'd accomplished. No time to cook a big dinner, so defrosted a couple frozen lobster tails and made do with that

Marlegal. I know I meant to congratulate you on completion of your 5 years of meds!!! I read that in some country when we had limited connection..... Well done! We are all so proud of your example and leading us into the future.
This has indeed been the trip of a lifetime. Yesterday we were able to worship and light a candle in the Milan Cathedral on East Sunday. I have an amazing shot of the meters and meters of candles lit. Said a prayer for all of us. Said a prayer asking for a cure.
Thanks for all of your support. This really has been the adventure of a lifetime. Only got truly and utterly lost on two occasions where we came near to melt'down. Some time I will write a book! LOL

Deb, I got goosebumps as I went through your pictres. I was in Greece and Turkey back in 1998 and the pictures I took could almost be super- imposed on to yours!! We both go for the architectural, repitition type of shots. Or colour. Truly freaked me out!!
