I haven't been on the beach  since the last storm so I can't say I've seen this one but it is typical of some of the driftwood logs that we get on our beaches regularly.  We are right on a major shipping lane for logs and every so often some get lost at sea and can float around a long time before coming back to land.

3jays - especially since that racoon loves to snack on baby ducklings!

edited to add, I've seen racoon taking out ducklings in my own front yard.

Wow!! I didn`t realize racoons ate live things!!! Boy, you learn someting new every day. And I thought they were vegans, too. Except for eggs. We used to leave some out for the raccon at the cottage and watch him break it open and eat it. So deliate with their hands...I just can`t imagine them killing another live animal...Cry

barbe, hate to disillusion you but they also like cats and small dogs.  Watched one chase a cat up a tree, luckily the cat was small enough that it could climb much higher and got away.

A friend of my step-mom's poodle was drowned in a swimming pool by a racoon.  The people came home & saw it, but it was too late for the dog.

And that the friend's dog not a dog friend of my step-mom's poodle (she doesn't have one) Ahhhh punctuation -failed again.
