Missy_111, I will be looking into extensions as soon as my hair gets a bit longer. It's still only one inch at the most and I think would need to be longer for extensions. I will definitely keep everyone informed of what I find out.

Marjie I think less hair made my eyes look bigger… but so far no MD has wanted to check my thyroid so I guess not too big.

Marjie - I KNEW there was a reason my butt looked bigger!!!! Thank you for clarifying that one, because here I was thinking it was the weight I'd gained during chemo making it look bigger, but now I know it's just because I have short hair!
I'm sure that also holds true for my jeans not fitting anymore, either, right?

Lago, I think my eyes are looking bigger, too! There was a woman at the store last week who told me I have BEAUTIFUL eyes... Now, in 48 years, no one has EVER told me I have beautiful eyes, so there has GOT to be something about short hair--or in my case, almost NO hair!
Thanks, ladies, for clearing these things up!

Maybe once we all get our hair back, we should try to restart the "80's big hair" trend...I know my butt looked smaller when I had big hair 25 years ago! AND, I KNOW I looked younger then with long hair, too!

lago, i have almost exactly the victoria beckham length and style!

Kymn, you look awesome! Thanks for sharing the pics!
How do you gals deal with the awkward grow out stages? My hair is about 4-5 inches long and is getting harder to do. It is very thick and curly. I blow it out, use a couple good products. Some days I have good hair, others not so much.

kittykat i am rapidly approaching awkward stages now. I wish there was a guide for growing hair out somewhere. Mine is very curly if I don't blow it out i look like a poodle.0

JeanneR, dont's you just hate that peach fuzz. Excited to see it but it looks weirder to me than being completely bald. I feel all the hair follicle on my head just waiting to pop through, very strange. I did have to shave my legs first.
marjie, I think you look adorable in short hair, very young and sexy. I haven't had short hair since I was a kid so this will be new for me to. Course at this point, any hair will be new to me.
I actually wouldn't mind my butt looking bigger, lost a whole lot of muscle tone during chemo, I know I'm odd man out.

If I straighten my hair, I look like a china doll (not a good look on me). Leaving it curly, it looks like an 80's hair style gone seriously wrong! So, I blow it out and try to make it bouncy. Some days it looks ok.

Kitty cat if that is your hair in your avatar then I think it looks great!!!

For all you Nioxin users (me included), this article scared the crap out of me. It says that methylparabens can block Tamoxifen and make healthy breast cells behave like cancer cells. Eeek!

I just googled methylparaben and it says BLUEBERRIES have this... huh?

and my PS is always telling me to eat blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries for antioxidants. Good thing I don't like blueberries

I wonder if it's the pesticide they use. As long as you wash your stuff off maybe it's OK.

thanks for sharing the article sweetbean- it is scary! i am trying to learn more about what products have these chemicals in them. if anyone else has more info- would love to hear it.
on the hair update- i am thankful to have most of the head covered. (I am almost 15 wks PFC- tomorrow is 15 wks). I can almost part the hair- if I don't I have the Eddie Munster look (I am showing my age w/ that reference!) Just glad it's there- it's more gray than I like!

I was just wondering what are most people doing with their wigs and hats? I am 3 months PFC and do want to donate them to someone who will be able to use them but I do not have the ,confidence that I will not need them again..I am struggling between getting rid of them and trying to move on and holding onto them and the fear that I will need them again sometime soon..just thought I'd ask what most people have done ..wasn't sure where to post this but since there are quite a few posting on this thread that are close to my treatment date, thought I would try hear

marial,
I am going to toss the wig as soon as I can (maybe 3 more weeks to work). I can always buy a new one. The hats I purchased are regular ball hats, and I will keep those and a few expensive pretied scarves I bought. I have the same reluctance to part with them as you do. Maybe in a few months that will improve??

I am keeping my wigs.. They are awesome and if I ever had an big event, I would consider wearing it if I was having a bad hair day... no day too soon though, and it would have to be a winter event as I would get hot...And I reserve the right to change my mind... I got so many compliments on the wigs, I just can't part with them... and yet I just can't wear them.

marial I gave one wig I never wore and some of my head coverings to another gal I met on here (she's local). I kept my more expensive wig and some of the scarves I actually like. I purposely bought some that I could use again for other purposes.
I figure the wig was only worn twice. If I had been working I might have to wear it when there were clients… so just in case I'm keeping it for a bit. Maybe when I get my port removed in 2 years I'll give my wig to someone.

Lago,
why are you keeping your port in for 2 years?
0 -
I have the same question. 2 years?
0 -
Are they thinking you need more chemo?
0 -
lago, I was wondering the same thing. I just met with my surgeon and she wanted to know when I wanted to have my port removed. Dec 1 will be a year since my surgery, and I was thinking about having it out after my one year all clear mammo (crosses fingers) I have such an awful time with IVs, and don't mind keeping the port in for the foreseeable future.

About ports... Mine was fine and then it got infected and was stuck at the clavicle and they had to cut me at the clavicle to get it out.... It also caused a blood clot... Glad it is out, clot is under control and never blocked any veins, but boy do I have scar tissue.

I can understand keeping it if you have nasty veins but man oh man I can not wait to get mine removed. I haven't had any problems with it, but because I'm so thin it sticks out alot and it honestly grosses me out. I think to, for me, it's a symbol of something I'd just as soon put in my past. Mine comes our Oct 3rd and it can't get here soon enough.

Finished chemo on July 5th and just this past weekend, I can see dark hair poking through my scalp! Also my eyebrows are getting thicker.

Cyborg, good for you, feels great doesn't it.
Still have alot of fuzz myself, but it's something.
It's funny, most of our lives as women we are fighting hair, fixing it, removing it from places we don't want it. Now hair growth or rather seeing hair growth is like x-mas for adults.

Cyborg! How exciting! I remember when you were just getting ready to start chemo...
I'm 13 weeks PFC - my scalp is completely covered. My hair is thicker than it was before, I think. I'm seriously considering going topless soon.
You'll be surprised at how quickly it comes back.
