kal, can't say I am not tempted to drive carefully anyway, I was on my way to the pharmacy to pick up my meds and more Nicorette gum, so I will wait the hour and drive anyway, Murphy's Law I hope is not in play today. I will call and see if they will issue a temporary registration. Karen

kal, apparently there is no such animal as a temporary registration. Karen

Stress smoking is a common trigger --so a big CONGRATULATIONS for making through this--it's like tempering metal--it will just make you stronger!

karen I couldn't remember if NY had temps like NJ, mind you I lived on Long Island for the better part of my life (I have the mind of a steel trap- he he he). Sorry I couldn't help and you are right about Murphy's Law - you've driven for weeks and not to mention to the DMV. Actually, i seem to recall that if you went to the DMV in Westbury LI and left there without a license or registration they alerted the local authorities so that they could track you down like a dog.0

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Karen!!! DMV = Government = Inefficient = Morons!
Stay strong my friend!

Thanks Michele, they are morons, how can one person get things so screwed up and then I must wait till Albany figures it out. And they act like they are blameless, the woman came just short of accusing me of lying, I think my tone of voice and body posture made her think twice. I drove, needed my meds AND more nicorette, watched all the way for the police to pull me over. I am calling them back tomorrow, as this is their mistake and I am being made to pay for it. Have never had anything at the DMV go smoothly and they are nasty too boot. On the good side, my appettite is gone, and will have a glass of wine tonight. Karen

I'll have a glass of wine with you...maybe two0
-
Karen- What a bunch of morons. I can do virtual wine right now. The real thing is a trigger and I need to avoid those.
You probably have the real thing by now but thought I would try and be helpful.

Jo, my most favorite dessert, chocolate covered strawberries! And I may forego the wine and drink all those cooling drinks you posted. Now we need servers, anyone remember where the chocolate dipped server came from? I should be good and snoozled by the end of the evening.

Well, 2nd week of Stage 3 and only 6 cigs today. Making progress slow but sure - when I started this process, I was up to a pack a day.

Jo, doing wonderfully, yup - that's the chocolate dipped server, he is yummy. Karen

Karen - We can share - fortunately chocolate is not one of my triggers - LOL!!

Mine either. My triggers are more places. I guess that is a good thing.

geez, I left you girls for a few hours and you break out the food, drinks and chocolate covered servers....I'm so proud of you!!!
How about a chocolate martini?
You know, I also thought of another thing that helped me with living with DH smoking-he doesn't leave any cigs around. He keeps them in a pocket or with him at all times. We discussed it and I told him that I would be incredibly tempted if he even left a butt around (I don't know about you but I've been desperate enough in the past to pick up a butt when I couldn't find a whole cig). This is his contribution to my sucess.

Kal - Right now, my cigs are in on a window sill hidden behind the curtains - out of sight, out of mind. I try to keep DHs out of sight as well. Thank goodness I don't go in the kitchen that much.0

No cigarette for 13 hours! Alot harder than last time but my circumstances are different this time. Last time I felt I had to quit for radiation. This time I am doing it for the right reasons. My best friend is quitting too so it will be easier to be around her. Good luck everyone I know I am gonna need it.

I don't know if this makes any sense but I am finding that I don't crave cigs most of the time anymore but am reaching for the cigs more out of habit. I try to find a distraction and sometimes it helps sometimes it does not. My boss is coming for his summer visit tomorrow and it is a bit stressful today - have smoked one or two more than I have been. I hope I don't sound like a rambling idiot bt trying to sort this out and get back on track if I need to. Please help!!!!

akeefe, 14 hours now, you can do it. Don't forget to drink tons of water to flush the toxins out. You go girl. Karen

Jo, you can do it, just like yesterday was a strong trigger for me, today is your trigger, stay strong. Everytime you reach out of habit, have that phrase in the forefront of your mind. It is our "magic" phrase, given to us a while ago by a sweet, sweet girl. Karen

Jo, I found that when I had a bad craving, I would go outside and do a walk about briskly then head back into the A/C. Something about the heat that helped me.

akeefe keep it going, karen is so right drink that water (hey, if your spending more time in the bathroom peeing instead of smoking too-hah!)!
jo the habit of reaching for that cigarette was so bad for me too...move them further away...grab a straw, carrot stick, cinamon stick...something...anything else

Jo, kal is right, I cut a straw down to the size of my cigarette and sucked and chewed on that, I still have it,it was a lifesaver. Karen

Jo, keep posting, you can't smoke when you're posting. Drink that cyber chocolate martini for the vitamins in it, ha. And yes I will share the chocolate dipped server, he was the one I was thinking of. hugs, Karen

The easy part for me is I did not smoke at work. Once I get in the car will be the challenge. I too found myself before not craving just picking the pack up out of habit. Its a bad habit and I know I need to stop. Stressful times for me were always hard. I just finished planning my October wedding before I stopped smoking, cause I knew I couldn't handle the stress in the middle of everything. Good Luck Jo!
