Karen - Thanks so much for the information - I will check out the website.  DH is still at a pack a day and I truly don't think he is motiviated to quit right now.  He will have to decide when he is ready and do the research himself.  I already suggested the ecig - if for nothing else - in the house.  I am tired of smelling the smoke when I come in from the outside.  I also told him it would be good this winter and he would not have to go outside while we are working.  Just trying to use some psychology on him - if I can get him to use the ecig - maybe, just maybe, I can get him to quit over time.

I asked DH and he has been using Envoy?  He says there are so many out there.  He's down to 3 mg but you can also get the drops without nicotine in them.  Like I said, I'm really not sure how it works and I think it would be a good idea for you DH to research it.  Maybe he can go talk to someone at the place they sell them?  They are pretty informative from what I hear.

    Best of luck!!

We weathered the storm wonderfully...now I hope all my friends and family in NJ and NY do as well.

    Take care

Jan - So glad you weathered the storm and you are safe.  Thanks for the info.  DH is on his computer doing his own research.  I already told him it is not up to me - I don't want to make a decision for him.  He is not use the first program I bought for us - maybe he thought I was trying to put pressure on him?? So, I will let me buy whichever one he thinks will be the best for him.

I am soooo excited - I couldn't wait to get on here and share my news.  DH and I went to our mall today and we left with an electronic cig kit for him - he is actually gonna give it a try.  He did research on the internet for about 2 days - I kept telling him he would have to choose the one he wanted - if that is what he wanted to do.  He actually found a store we could go to and see the product and talk to someone who has used  it for 2 years.  The sales guy even  gave us all kinds of discounts on some of the accessories.  Maybe, just maybe he will use the e-cig in the house.  I know he will have to wean himself of the real cigs but at least there is hope.  Heck, I don't care if he stays on the e-cigs - he can eventually get the liquid drops with no nicotine.

That is wonderful news.  My DH was a big smoker and went from regular cigarettes to e-cig without weaning off regular cigs.  Congratulations!  You just keep giving him encouragement and he will be fine.

    Whoo Hoo!!!!

Karen - There is still some smoke in the house - he has had on reg cig since 1:00 this afternoon - it is now 6:30pm.  I am just going to be patient with him now.  This is something he is going to have to get used to.  He is not always up for change.

Jan - Is your DH still using the e-cigs?  If so, how long has been been on them?  Just curious.

Oh Jo!! I am so excited and happy FOR you!! That is such great news on your husband!

These guys can be so funny in that, if WE say they should do something, oh how they dig in their heals BUT... if they believe the idea is THEIRS, well, nothing can stop them!! In light of your success he may have been scared to try and not succeed and feels a bit more prepared with the e-cig!

Gentle encouragement and TONS of support to help him see that he CAN do it is t he way to go now! He has taken, in my mind, the hardest step... Deciding to try!

You should be very proud in that, by your example, others are following! Seems you've started a bit of a revolution! Bravo!

SeaSide - I kinda put the idea in his head but he was the one who found a store locally that he could go see the product and try it out first. Like I said before, I don't expect him to get rid of the reg cigs overnight.  I know it will take him some time to make the adjustment.  At least the has made a start.

My assistant manager is pretty much smoke free.  In the last 3 days, she has had a 1/2 cig each morning with her coffee and that has been it for the rest of the day.  I ordered her some of the same spray that I use and gave that to her today.  Won't see her until tomorrow morning.

Thanks gals for all your support and encouragement.

    Jan,

Glad to hear southern NC was spared!

We here in South-central NY had tons of rain and a lot of wind, but it passed relatively quickly, so other than some fascia that tore off of our eaves and some minor flooding in town, we made it through fairly unscathed!

Other areas in upstate NY were not so lucky! My sister lives near Albany, NY and they have no power... she said it looks like a war zone! Lots of flooding and tons of downed trees... The national guard has been called in to help with the clean-up..... Looks like Connecticut anf Vermont, as well as New Jersey just got clobbered!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of our sisters there!

Michelle - I had to make it sound like this was his idea.  If that is what it takes, go be it.  I do remember I started out with baby steps and it worked for me.

DH left his reg cigs at home this morning when we came to work - he did bring his e-cig.  This is a step in the right direction.

I do need to add that I also have an e-cig but with NO nicotine.  I had to agree to do this with him.  Nothing like a little bribery - but hey, if it works it works.  I don't puff on mine too much.

LadyinBama - Oh! I am going to stick with it.  It seems since we both have the e-cigs now - he is smoking less and less of the reg cigs which is a good thing.  Maybe he needed to feel like we were doing this together.  He is aware that mine has no nicotine and he can gradually get off the e-cig.  Heck, even if he doesn't it is much safer than what he was doing.

My DH started using the e-cig last Dec 1st and has not had a cig since.  Very proud of him but now I wish he didn't use the e-cig either.

Oh well, better than a cig - your DH will be just fine. Give him time....It's wonderful you are sharing all this together.  Very proud of you!

Jan - If my DH gets down to just using the e-cig with no nicotine I will not complain at all.  The guy that sold us ours has not smoked for over 8 months but still has his e-cig with no nic.  At least there is not bodily harm being done.

Wow a lot happened while I've been bailing out my basement!  We got nailed from dear Irene but, we're all here and we're all fine, that's what counts.

Jo, congrats on DH, Asst Mgr and your cancerversary!!  And forgiveme, someone else had a quitaversary too, I think, I'm afraid to go back to search and lose my post...

    Congratul...

Welcome to robo47!  I kinda cheated with my quitting.  I stopped the night before my BMX, it was my jumpstart.  The one thing that has kept me going is; according to the battery of tests that I've endured in the last year, my lungs and heart are clear.  After 40+ years of smoking that was a huge gift that I can't screw up.  I guess I'm now the last one with a DH that smokes and hasn't given a try at quitting.  It is so very hard with him still smoking but I can't give up.

Off to a ladies night out dinner, I'll check back in soon...aren't we due for a party soon?

Kal - Sorry you got hit by dear old Irene - at least she is gone and everyone is safe and sound.

DH is still smoking but not near as much as before.  He did admit he had too many reg cigs today but I am not saying anything - he has to do this at his own pace.

Did someone say Party time???  Well, let's party.

Jan - Mine is using 4 mg and I have one with zero- it makes him think we are doing this together.  I have to give him credit - he is really trying this and I am letting him know I am fully supporting him.

Dear Jo, you are doing all the right things as DH begins his journey, you have been instrumental in two people taking the plunge, that is so great.  You have been a fountain of courage and sticktooitifness from the beginning.  I don't know if that is a word or not, I know you'll get the jist of it.  Bravo to you, Karen

Karen - I think this is one of those things that someone had to go first - if you know what I mean. It has been almost 7 weeks for me and looking back, I still think it was harder dealing with BC than quiting.  I do have to give it to DH, he not smoking near as many reg cigs as he did and is using his e-cig more and more in the house which is making me happy.  Also, we can takke my car more places now that he has the e-cig.  I have a small car and he has a big truck.  Like I have said before, if he stays on the e-cig for some time and even lowers the mgs of nicotine it will still be a step in the right direction.

BarbaraA - Thanks sweetie - It has been a very tough year and today I am feeling like a million dollars.

Thanks LadyinBama!!!  Still can't believe it has been a year.

I am 7 weeks smoke free today and everyday have been kicking myself in the butt for not doing this a long time ago.  Oh well!  I did it now.  My assistant manager continues to be smoke free and DH is still working on it.  He is using his e-cig more - still not completely off the reg cigs but it is still a step in the right direction.

Been a REALLY busy couple of weeks.... Friday was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and this past weekend was the celebration! Since I am the only child who lives here in the same town as my parents, the planning and implementation of the party fell to me! It was a ton of work but, I think everything turned out well!!

We did a catered party at my house on Saturday and then we did a family brunch out at a restaurant on Sunday.... My parents really enjoyed it all but, I think, as we all are, a bit worn out!

Jo.... Hope you and you husband are still doing well! Going to go with the 'no news is good news' philosophy!

Hopefully, things here have settled out and I will have a bit more time.....

Thinking of you all, even when I can't be here to post!
