You know we like to keep track of our little chickadees, just check in to let us know how you are doing and if that pain is gone, so hate to hear you are suffering.

Hi ladies im here and pain is managable now. my drains are coming out tomorrow at 9:!5am i see PS. my mom helped me get a nice bath today and wash my hair . she was supposed to go home today but is staying xtra time till friday .:) thank god cause I still cant do too much myself . I am 6 days post op today . Hope everyone is well . Ty for thinking of me . I have not smoked . to all the newbies, hope u are getting some good information here and support , these ladies are my rocks and they are the best .. Luv and Hugs to u all xoxoxoxox

lisamarie - So good to hear your drains are coming out tomorrow. It will be such relief I'm sure.
I need some prayer that mine can finally come out Friday. They are literally a pain in my side and I would love to sleep in my bed again.

Lisamarie, so glad mom could stay for extra days and that the pain is now manageable. Hurray for getting the drains out tomorrow, DOUBLE HURRAY for not smoking, you are going to start counting in months soon!!!! Jo, hoping with you that drains are coming out on Friday, are you feeling well, no pain? Jo, you are such a trooper, don't know what we would do without you, you are a one woman cheering section!!!! Galsal, you too, your's and Jo's military training shows - when you set your mind to it, you make it happen, thank you both for your service to our country. My MO is putting me on Ibuprofen, we tried Aleve, it didn't touch the knee pain. I go up and down stairs one step at a time, the wonderful SE of Arimidex. Will try Ibuprofen for 2 weeks, then he will look at possibility of switching AI's.

Karen - Other than the drains being a literal pain in my side, I am feeling great. So loving the new boob. My PS is an amazing person. As for the military service, you are so very welcome and it was my priviledge to serve my country.

Good news...drum roll, please.
Saw the new shrink today. She's got NO problem with not leaving me out in left field without any meds whatsoever. Have the Xanax for if I need it, which isn't often. It's important for me to calm the anxiety, or I'll want to smoke. For me, the two go hand in hand.

Galsal -Anxiety and stress were my biggest triggers. We gotta do what we gotta do to stay smoke free.

yep. VA shrink was like, oh no can't be on anxiety med...might get addicted or sell them. puhleez...told her same thing as him. can count that there is still 1/3 of the initial rx left, that' show much I "abuse" them. sheesh! this gal today took it seriously about waht is needed.

Galsal, so glad you got a empathetic psychiatrist, anxiety and stress were also my biggest triggers. Sometimes just to know you have a Xanax is enough.

Jo , I hope u get drains out too . I dont know what I am feeeling ium numb in some places then it feels like something is sitting on my chest .. then i realized im taking 2 percocet every 3 hours .. omg thats 16 in 24 hours and bottle says no more thab 6 per day // shit . I hope I am gonna live .. i cannot deal with the pain .. im a baby , I wanna shave under my arms. see ps in am cannot wait for it to get here so I cam see if I am gonna be okay

lisamarie - Of course you are going to be fine. I would jump in your pocket and go with you but with these damn drains I need to be so careful so I don't pull them out. Just know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Good luck all who have appts today, drains taken out, etc...I have been up for the past 2 hours in anticipation of my upcoming appt with BS today to get path results from my LX & SNB 7 days ago. Hoping for clean margins and no node involvement. If I hear otherwise, well, then I will just have to take it one step/procedure at a time. You ladies are such an inspiration. I have cut waaaaaaaaay back on smoking, but have not yet quit entirely. I know that I need to make a resolve for it to happen. I still love them as a stress reliever.

Dear Just, cutting waaaaaay back is the first step and you have done it, see how strong you are!!!!! Now decide what nicotine replacement aid you are going to use so you have it, should the moment arrive when you announce your quit date, it is determined by no one but you, when you are ready! No pressure from us at all, just support for you and our encouragement. It is not easy but it is certainly doable. Hope all the news from your BS is positive, please let us know. I still can't sleep when I have an appointment like that and in August I will be 3 years out. Scanxiety is the worst, try to do it with 1 less cigarette, if you can that's great, if not that's OK too. On appt. days I chew gum constantly - look like a cow chewing it's cud, and I have no idea what a cud is. Hang in there girl, you are already laying the foundation.

Good News yesterday!! I was walking on Sunshine all day...Clear margins, and 2 sentinel nodes clear as well as another node completely clear! Next week I meet with Oncologis & Radiologist to discuss treatment options. My doc said that I might want to still consider chemo due to my "young age" (I am 53...NOT young in my book...but I'll take it)..but, honestly, I am not thrilled about chemo..but want to remain open minded. This has me nervous again.

Morning my friends .. I have my post op with BS today .. wonder if i am gonna hear my pathology report today ho hum dont know ..yes galsal drains are out and that makes it a bit better .. still tight and in pain .. but I am managing .. tried to sleep on my side last night and no way .. had to go back on back .. saw my scars for first time yesterday , wanted tosmoke but that wouldnt change a thing . so I didnt I am 9 weeks and just shy of 3 days smoke free .. Hope u ladies have a great Hump Day and "Just For Today I will Not Smoke "

Good evening ladies! Another day without smokes. Jo, you are right about anxiety and stress. How did we associate manage these before smoking? I'm been feelings these 2 triggers and said I needed a smoke to a lady who just had one. She offered me one and "surprisingly" I turned it down, I couldn't stand the smell of smoke on her .... go figure!

Question for you JustBeatIt? We have almost similar diagnosis yet I didn't have chemo ... MO said I didn't need it. Also said I didn't need rads - almost 99% sure the meds (Letrozole) would prevent a reoccurrence. However, the rads were up to me and I said "bring it on". I was 56 a year ago and nothing was mentioned to me about "age". I'm wondering if treatment is different in Canada or is it because my tumor was <1 cm?

Judi - My tumor was also <1 cm and my MO told me I did not need chemo. A lot will depend on your OncoDX Test which I also did not have. MO did not think I needed it to determine whether or not I needed chemo. I was 55 at the time of diagnosis. I did have rads - that was not an option. I was ER+/PR+ - both 100%. I think the only difference I have seen in treatment is the shorter time for rads you have in Canada - 16 treatments. I had 25 treatments and 5 boosts. I could not take the AIs. MO put me on Tamoxifen. It just goes to show you how different each doctor is.

JudiH, that's so great that you resisted the tempation to take that cigarette, even when it was offered to you. It's been so long ago that I started smoking I really can't tell what I used for stress and anxiety before, probably my brain to sort things out. Definitely biting my nails, now, I grab a stick of gum. Definitely a more acceptable and less dangerous way than grabbing that cigarette.

Just...wonderful news! Well, if you're young then I'm younger. Results of my Oncotype though were squarely in the low zone at 12 so it wouldn't benefit me enough to put my body through chemo. Here's hoping the same for you. Other than ILC our dx looks almost the same.
