Jo: Sending Hugs
Agree w/all that I don't care for new format. I too liked seeing everyone on the screen. On the otherhand - I don't usually like new things & have be be dragged forward kicking & screaming.
My3Sunz - amazing that you shredded a whole pack. That should make you feel powerful. Hang in there.

Just for yesterday, I did not smoke. For today, I will strive to do so again!
It appears so far that i'm a candidate for a Diep and we'll move forward with the pre pre-op tests to confirm that. Can't say yet when it will be overall but at least am moving forward!
Felt some movement in my pockets...teehee

Galsal, that's all of us getting ready to go with you, so glad things are moving forward. Add one more day to your list of just for today, I will not smoke

Galsal ... I'm using your words ... "just for today I will not smoke" ... I will make it through the rough times! I will find something else to do ... I will knit, I will hoola hoop ... anything, but just for today, I will not smoke! Also, congrats on the Diep - that's fantastic!!

For the "not so well" ladies, I hope your pain subsides. Sucks being in pain! Gaisal, congrats on your upcoming procedure (excuse my ignorance but I don't know what it is but I can give you lots of congrats!). Also, congrats to all of us one day more smoke free. I can tell you it sure felt good when I was at the hospital yesterday and ticked off the box "don't smoke". I actually was looking for it .... I felt so proud!
P.S. I dont like this new format either .... I find it more difficult to move around it. Maybe they will get the hint and change it back!

Jo, congrats on being "cancer free" for 1 year ... I'm right behind you but I must be counting wrong. I've had my mammo last October, 2011, and was cancer free and this year would be two. Aren't you two years?

Raffomimi is posting on other threads, last seen on May 8. She posted having a 8cm ovarian cyst and was waiting for decision of doctors on what comes next. I was amazed how far I had to go back to find a posting, we certainly are a chatty bunch, which is great for all of us, so much support and pure caring!!!

So far, so good, Day 4 and no smoking :-) Love the saying you guys use ... "Just for Today, I will NOT smoke!" I'm starting to feel more in control of the 'urges', but I doubt I'll ever not 'want' to smoke. Cheers!

my3sunz, day 4, way to go girl, the cravings will lesson, you are in the most difficult time period right now - so to feel some control is great. Eventually the cravings will lesson and your "firsts" will have less intensity. We are all so proud of you for your commitment, keep on keeping on, remember to mark your quit date on a calender, eventually you will be counting in weeks, but Just For Today, I Will Not Smoke!!!!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi! Feeling like crap. Still have one drain and I already know it is not coming out tomorrow. Still too much fluid. I am beginning to think I will have this for some time. Can't sleep in bed, wake up every two hours, can't wear a dressing - tape is irritating my skin. Oh! I could go on and make this whine a good one but I won't. Haven't been feeling like posting much but wanted to let all you wonderful ladies know I am hanging in there. (((HUGS)))

Bummer (((Jo)))! The drains were the hardest for me...I really hope that your drainage will decrease throughout the day and by tomorrow you will be able to get that last drain out.

Awww Jo, how I hate to
Awww Jo, how I hate to "see"" you in pain and so exhausted too!!!! Sending lots of gentle hugs {{{{{{{{{{Jo}}}}}}}}}} Karen

Michelle, Unfortunately, I did not see a decrease in fluid when I emptied it a few minutes ago. In fact, it went up a bit. The fluid is holding steady at 50 ccs in a 24 hour period. Does not seem like it is going to get down to that magic number of 30ccs.
Karen - Thanks girlfriend!!

ugh, I was hoping for good news...sending gentle hugs and prayers for rapid healing.

I guess this is what I get for not posting for a few days - they change the format on me. I'm so confused ... anyway, hope everybody is doing ok. I'm good.
Seaside: I'm actually a little disappointed in my tatts, one of them has places in it where it doesn't look like the color took in some places. I have polka dot nipples! I see my PS Monday, so I'll ask him if I can get a touch up.
Jo: I feel your pain sister. I kept one drain for 6 weeks. Near the end, it was hurting so bad where it was connecting, that I called the nurse in tears and said "you've got to do something." They were able to tape it up someway that it didn't move and it got much better, more comfortable. Also, tape makes me itch too, so I made them use paper tape. They had to use more of it, but it doesn't itch. Tell them tomorrow that the dxxn things hurts! They should be able to fix it.
Karen: My new avatar is for you (just to be mean); my beautiful geranium blooming in all its Southern sunshine glory

Ladies, I just read your thread and thought "what about flash tape". This tape is a body/clothing tape. Fashionistas use it to keep clothes to keep from gaping and to keep your "breasts" from drooping. It is a body/clothing tape. I purchased mine at our Shoppers Drug Mart which would be the same as your big chain drug store. Maybe it will work Jo to keep your drain from moving!

I'm sorry if I'm jumping in on a thread that has changed topic just a bit, and I'm VERY interested in that tape that JudiH talks about up there, but I quit smoking 2 weeks after being diagnosed. I never wanted to quit. I still want to smoke. I want to smoke every day.
It would be amazing if someone would tell me that the desire will leave soon. My husband quit 3 years ago, and still sometimes craves a smoke. I would have gone down to buy a pack (just for ONE little smoke) today if I could drive, but PS won't let me because of the drain. LOL I am (deep down) thankful for that.

Dear Bama, it was sunny here too!! with a temp of 62, goes down to 40's at night. I just hate giving you more information for salt. One day I am going to post that it is sunny and 80, it will probably be the only day like that during the season! I love you and Jo for pouring salt, thank you for the beautiful avatar. Jo, maybe that tape JudiH suggested will be just the ticket, if it was still would it be less painful? Let them know you need releif from the pain, it is just so debilitating day after day. Our poor Jo. hugs, Karen

Fierro6,
Please don't be sorry for posting here.... and Welcome!
The desire to smoke will lessen tremendously until, most days, you just don't think about it (in stark contrast where in the beginning that's all you think about)... As your DH can tell you, after time goes by there will still be times that you just kind of want to smoke but rather than a holy crap craving it's more like when you're sorta hungry and check out the fridge and find there's nothing there that appeals to you... Kind of an oh well feeling...0 -
Thanks. I think that's why this stupid drain stayed in so long...so I couldn't drive down to the store for a smoke.
I appreciate the support system found here.

Fierro, you are more than welcome to hang with us for support and encouragement, the cravings do lessen, till you don't think of that cigarette every day, you are doing so well. It is so unbelieveable to me what control that little white cylinder has over us, try using lisamarie's mantra, Just for today I will not smoke, or the just as powerful in the face of a craving Stay Strong. lisamarie, what part of N.Y. are you in? Karen
