MinusTwo, I think that he pending legislation has good and bad points. I still vape occasionally and don't plan to stop. My hubby does it daily and it is the reason he is able to stay quit. I want them safe, but they have been around for over 10 years and the adverse events page on the CDC site has very few complaints,  none of which can be proven. (I think there were less than 10 in all these years and most dealt with defective batteries blowing up) I think they are safer than most things if you ask me but we shall see.

Lisamarie, you are amazing! Keep on truckin girlfriend!

Judi, when we all turn 80, we will smoke a cigarette and have a drink and smile. Then when we fall down from being dizzy and break our hip, we will still be smiling...LOL!

OK, gotta get ready for work! xoxo

    Good Morning Ladies,

Today is the day .. I took my chantix this morning so I am on my way... praying this is the last time ... lol .. I just love you guys so much. I also feel like judi, that I am a part of all your lives . I would like to wish one day that we can all meet up in some place and just give hugs and hang out and laugh.. wouldn't that be a hoot ...anyway I am working my 12 hour shift.. haha then off again for 3 days ... more time for the garden and concentration on my life and getting healthy ... maybe I will ride the bike too this week.

Have a Happy Tuesday everyone ...

    Big Hugs

LisaMarie - wishing you the greatest of luck.  We're all rooting for you.

Meeting up sounds fun.  OK - since most of you are in the east, I guess I'll have to come that way for our 80 year reunion.  And since I'm the oldest, does that mean you all get to smoke when I'm 80?  Or do I have to wait until the youngest of you turns 80?

Oh what the hell MinusTwo .... I'll jump in when you are 80 and have a smoke.  So, I'm 59 in November so it would be 21 years before I could have a smoke according to my 80 factor.  Don't know how old you are ..... just tell me and I'll be there.  April, I don't mind falling .... but that smoke will have been worth it!

OK Guys - I'll be 70 in August so you don't have too long to wait!!!  And hopefully I'll be feeling ready to travel by 2024.  Wow - can't even get my mind around the way that date looks.  Actually I had to turn & check on my calculator to make sure I wasn't crazy.  2024.

Sounds like we should wait until all of you are closer to 80.  Sigh!!  Well at least we have 10 years to make a decision.  Nothing like rushing into these things.

I just turned 59 so close to Judi in age...LisaMarie is the youngest (I think) and I believe she is in her 40's? Right Lisamarie? So, you must live long enough until the youngest on the board can turn 80...lol

Well we are all young at heart ..... 60, 70,80 .... doesn't matter when I have it.  I just want to make sure I'm around for it.  MinusTwo don't make us wait .... 2024 really .... I'm with you, can't wrap my head around it .... how old will I be .... lets see - hey my calculator says I'll only be 69 .... really!  I remember when I first starting working and got my first pension report .... said I could retire at the age of 55 in 2010 .... I was 19 and that seem like the Jetson's era.  Oh girls, let's just get together one day!

Judi - I looked up Mansfield to see sort of where you are.  The Mansfield Outdoor Center sounds fantastic.  Is that close to you?  Looks gorgeous.  How are the mosquitoes?  So you're maybe an hour north of Toronto?  I've seen some of Western Canada but have never been to Eastern Canada - except for a trip for dinner to Windsor when I was in Detroit one time which of course doesn't count.

Maybe West and East.  Just checked and VJ is in Southern California.  I believe Beckers was going between So. Cal & Oklahoma.  Who knows - by the time we meet we may have convinced Bosum & Red to join us.l

MinusTwo .... your google search is absolutely right ..... one hour north of Toronto ..... cottage territory.  I don't have mosquitoes where I live cause there is wind but my dh was fishing way up north .... where the water starts to flow towards the arctic .... mosquitoes were so bad.  Ugggh, not my type of comfort .... I'm a hotel girl.  So, the Mansfield Centre is about 10 minutes from where I love.  So, who knows where we will end up .... never been to California or many other U.S. cities/states other then Florida, Texas.  But, I'm so excited going to New York at the end of the month ..... I can't wait - never been so really looking forward to this.  Now remind me ..... who is Bosum???  Canadian or American????

Bosum - sending good vibes.  Can't remember - are you using any aids?  Patches? Chantix?   Per above - where do you live?

Red - hope you're still lurking.  Another can't remember (can I just plead chemo brain?) - have you made the Tuscany trip yet?  Hope you'll give us a travel review.

Judi - hope you have a wonderful time in NYC.  Are you just going to hang out or do you have specific plans?  I haven't been there since 1988.  I had a week's trip planned the spring of 2013 including 3 Broadways shows when I got the recurrence diagnosis.  Bummer to cancel that trip & also a cruise to Alaska.

YAY Lisamarie! Glad you started the chantix again. My dear friend died Wed. so have not been in the mood to do much...I hate BREAST CANCER and all cancer. She was 56! Small Stage 2 cancer, low oncotype so no chemo. Mets two years later. Now deceased after mets to bones, liver and brain.

Love to all. Keep the faith xoxox

April - so sorry about your friend.  Way too young.  My BFF had pancreatic cancer and went through the horrible Whipple surgery.  They told her if she lasted 5 years she could consider herself OK.  It came back at 4-1/2 years.  It's been 8 years since she died and I miss her.  Yup - hate cancer!!

LisaMarie - hang in there.  Do your kids smoke?  I hope not so you won't have to be tempted.  Either way - we're rooting for you.

I remember speaking with someone years ago. The way he quit smoking was to tell himself that he wasn't quitting for good--that he would start again when he retired. He said he was getting nervous that he might start again since he was close to 65. I told him he didn't have to start again. He said that he had been telling himself this for so long, he almost felt like he HAD to start up again. Funny how our mind plays tricks on us.

@g disease ... god I hate it.  I can't believe that you can beat it for so long and then it comes back .... drug companies are  you listening ..... do you feel good about making all that money from people hurting/dying.  Ladies, let's keep going .... we'll show them companies a thing or two!

Bosum .... didn't it happen in Toronto, Canada?  Your right, it wasn't just BC patients ..... what a bunch of stupid f@@## morons.  I couldn't image it ..... I think I be doing chemo again!  How are you now?  Smoking is just a big game .... one that is so hard to beat but you will do it!  We are all here for you!

thanks to all for the lovely Hello.

I've made it through not smoking since Jan 2012!  Trust me, there are still times I want to and then it goes away.  The woman helping to take care of me after this most recent surgery smokes.  I make her spray with Febreze before coming inside and then hand sanitizer.  It's a miracle what that can do about the smell.

Folks, you CAN do this.  Remember that mantra we were using, can't remember who brought it to the table - "just for today I will not smoke".

GalSal - nice to see you.  Way to go 2-1/2 years.  I love the Febreeze idea.

LisaMarie - maybe you should carry around a spray can & "shoot" your BF after he smokes.  (oops. sorry if that's too rude)

Bosum - you're exactly right.  Just keep trying.  How about the Little Engine That Could - I think I can, I think I can.  Smoke free days are a fair start.

LisaMarie - woo hoo indeed!!!  Great news.  Oh - you changed your avatar.  Are these the cute grandaughters?  Glad you're having a fun visit w/them.

Happy Holiday to everyone.  Yes, you can celebrate our holidays in Canada & we'll celebrate yours so we'll all get double the fun.  Too bad our jobs probably won't understand.
