LisaMarie - GREAT pict.  Thanks for posting.  I know you've been having such a wonderful time w/them.

My son is back in town for a couple of days to "ram-rod" the roofing of my house - which started at 6:30am this morning.  Everyone is rushing to get at least 1/2 completed & covered before the afternoon showers.  I just don't have the energy back yet to keep up.

One of the things I found in the attic room was a box of old reel to reel movies we made in the 70s.  And of course I just gave away the reel to reel movie projector to Salvation Army last Monday since my ex said there were no more movies left anywhere.  Guess i'll be going to Costco to get them put on DVD, but i would have liked to preview before I spent the money.

Hi back - Roof is done.  I took my son to the airport at 5am this morning so he could get back home.  Whew.  Wanted to go back to bed but have a doc appointment in the med center so...

One good thing - everything was so fast & furious I didn't even have time to want a smoke!!!

Red - saw some Italian pictures on another thread.  How was your trip?

    Bosum - how are you?

April - good to "see" you.  Hope you're having a nice summer.  Whoosh - and she's gone.  Faster than Samantha twitching her nose (if you're old enough to remember Bewitched).

Hi ladies .... LisaMarie, thanks for sharing the pics .... you have a beautiful family and you have a lot to be thankful for.  It's an exciting time for you .... a grandson.  Congrats!  MinusTwo, glad your roofing is done.  Must have been nice to have your son around, even for a short while.  I'm waiting for my sister and her young granddaughter to arrive .... can't wait to see them but after a day they will be driving me nuts.  I'm a neat freak and I can't stand chairs not put back, dishes in the sink .... you get the gist.  MinusTwo, I PM Beckers and she got back to me.  She said to say hi to you and all of the ladies .... missing everyone.  She is back with her hubby now (I can't spell Olkolama - see) and now has a new iPad.  She is hoping to get back to post but is busy at the time but wanted me to tell everyone that all is well - she just celebrated her 2 year smoke-free anniversary.  Good for her.  April, I missed your wave .... wave to me anytime ... I love ur sense of humour.

Good Morning LisaMarie, Judi and MinusTwo (and Beckers out in OK!!)

I have a few moments so thought I would "slow down" enough to actually write a sentence or two.

First MinusTwo, about remembering "Samantha and Bewitched" well, of course I do! I was a young girl when that show was on in the 1960's and I loved it! I especially loved Endora and the Uncle played by Paul Lynde as characters. Even though there were two Darrins, the show still held up well. That would not work today I suspect. Glad the roof is done and that you enjoyed your son's visit! And, of course glad you did not have time to "smoke" (but I know you wouldn't have as you are so far in now!)

LisaMarie, those kids are GORGEOUS! I cannot wait for my first grandbaby in October! It is a GIRL and I am so excited. They have not chosen a name yet, but have narrowed it down.  The baby shower is next month (she wanted a picnic type so we figured less chance of bad weather in August!) so we are planning all the food etc now and it will be in Wickham Park which is a beautiful place with lovely grounds. You can reserve the pavilion for a deposit (which is coverage in case of rain too) and if it is found clean and neat when they inspect, they send you back your money so you bet we will clean it really well after ward!

Judi, hope you enjoyed your time with your sister and her granddaughter! Thanks for letting us know about Beckers too. Glad she is doing well and has two years under her belt now. I can't believe it has been 15 months for me already!

Ok, now have to run and get ready for work. Enjoyed having my morning coffee with you and we will do it again soon. Can someone bring some blueberry muffins next time, hot off the flat top with lots of butter? Mmmmm, love the way some diners do that. They split them in half, lay them on the flat top grill after loading it up with butter and then serve it hot. OMG, I have not had that in YEARS! LOL.

    Bye for now ::::::::waving again:::::::::

April - thanks for the lovely long post.  The muffins sound wonderful.  I've never tried them that way.  But I was sure glad to see the Time Magazine article a few weeks ago that said YES, eat butter.  I never gave up butter so I'm back in fashion.

I still eat butter as well although try to limit it and mix it with olive oil for cooking adding just enough to flavor what I am sauteeing. But on bread or at breakfast or whatever else, butter is the ONLY spread. No margarine or "Can't believe it's not butter" (cause I sure believe it is not butter..tee hee) for me!

Enjoy your day ladies. Me, I am calling my hubby and reminding him to call his doctor about unexplained weight loss recently. I have to say, I am pretty worried. He has lost 20 lbs in just 3 months for no real reason...ugh, it is always something. Of course he is thrilled and thinks he looks great now but h e seems tired too. I am hoping it is thyroid or something easily treated but you know where my mind went right away...Shocked

LisaMarie - so sorry about your gyn issues.  I'd never heard of a Hystogram and had to look it up.  Doesn't sound too bad.  I was so grateful when I had my hysterectomy - years ago - and got rid of the horrible periods & almost constant pain from fibroid tumors.  I felt like a new woman and couldn't believe I'd put it off for so long.

April - fingers crossed that your DH's weight loss has an easy solution too.  Let us know.

Just lost a LONG post.  Sigh.  Bosum - lurk all you want.  We know it's not easy.

Wish I had a universal answer.  Some folks will tell you quitting all at once is the only way.  Not for me.  I quit smoking in two week stages until I got down to using only one chair on one porch.  After 2 more weeks of cutting back I started Chantix and a week after that I took my last puff.  Mind you, that was my last puff of the last try, since I'd quit before & it didn't take, like many of us have.  I think I remember seeing that it takes 2 weeks for the nicotine to cycle out of your system (??)  Someone else will chime in who knows that stat.  Then it's mind over urges.  I tricked my mind w/sunflower seeds, carrots, long walks, giving up drinking for at least 6 months, changing life patterns - whatever I could change I did.  There was still lots of crying & lots of tossing & turning at night & I was no doubt a royal pain in the a$$ to all my family & friends.  Thinking of you as you struggle through.

Bosom, no easy answer to your questions as it is different for everyone. I found that what helped me most besides nicotine replacement patch is the e-cig. I still use it occasionally when the urge arises. I know there is controversy surrounding these, but I don't use the huge "bong like" delivery systems that some use, I use a plain old e-cig that looks like a cigarette. I started with the highest amount of nicotine and then gradually went down to 0 in my cartridge (you can buy different nicotine amounts) and so now, I am nicotine free although my hubby still gets his cartridges with a small amount of nicotine in them. Have you tried e-cigs yet? Not all are created equal! I tried several until I found one that tasted and felt the most like a real cigarette. Here is the website. Since I smoked Marlboro Lights 100's, I went with the Red Label flavor as it is closest in taste to that.

    www.greensmoke.com

Not sure if it will help you, but I have not had a cigarette for more than 15 months! I smoked for45 years! Best to you!! I know it is VERY difficult to do this, but I am thrilled I finally did! xo

Haven't noticed better skin in my case but my skin was ok to begin with in terms of the smokers wrinkles around the mouth area. Never got any of those I am happy to say. But, my skin seems to be getting saggier now that I am on exemestane (aromasin) due to no more lovely estrogen in my body...sigh.

Rather than post, I took your question and made a blog post: "I just quit smoking, when will I feel better?" I hope this helps.  Read it here.
