Sweet--glad to hear that all went well and you are resting this weekend.  Enjoy the pizza & wings!

Sandra--I am still laughing even though I read your post a couple of hours ago.  I have my first colonoscopy scheduled in July and already told the nurse at the doc's office that there is no way I can drink three bottles of that "septic" stuff!  Now I know that I am not supposed to drink it but rather "choke it down"!  That sounds more like it.  Hoping your results are normal!

Thanks all - pizza and wings were oh, so good and it's wonderful to know so many friends are keeping me in their thoughts!

You know, my colonoscopy prep a year ago was not nearly as unbearable as many I read about here.  Four dulcolax tablets at 10am the day before.  Then at 5pm I had to start drinking 8-10 ounces every 15 minutes of powdered Miralax mixed with Gatorade (one bottle of powdered miralax with 64 ounces of Gatorade).  The first 'episode' from the dulcolax tablets occurred around 2-2:30pm.  THAT's the one that really cleaned out the pipes!  The Miralax part was really no more than a multi-stage rinse cycle.  There was no cramping from any of it but I did have to be close to the bathroom because their definitely WAS a sense of urgency.  Near the end (around 11pm if I remember correctly) it looked like nothing more than clear water!

Probably TMI but I find it interesting that there are nearly as many different methods used for colonoscopy prep as there are for Exchange recovery instructions and restrictions by each PS!

Sandra - while I didn't say it earlier (I was too busy chuckling about my previous percentage of poop calculation) I'm glad everything went well for you too!

Sweet so happy all went so well. That's great!

I finally scheduled my colonoscopy for October when I have 2 days off from work-1 for prep and 1 for the procedure. Last colonoscopy I flunked!!!  I told the dr that I didn't think the prep had worked and that I thought I might really be full of -hit. He said impossible - so they put me under and lo and behold I was still full of -hit and had to take a stronger prep. Of course this was a first for my Dr. This time around I better be close to a bathroom because he intends to give me the high test prep!!!!

    Wishing all a great weekend

What a crappy conversation !!!  LOL

Baby that's got to be embarrassing..... LOL

Nothing is TMI on here!  I was going to get my colonoscopy this summer. Instead I'm having my knee done. The doctor surprised me when he said now would be good. So put it off again.

Also my gastro issues have just now started to settle down since chemo. I really don't want to mess that up. My mag level was actually ok this time. Maybe I'll be able to finally get myself deportaled! LOL

Well i hope everything comes out fine Sandra..... LOL

Lori same Wish for you! LOL

S'S keep doing the mantras.  Both of them! LOL and I'm with AZ- wings and pizza sound great.

    Much love to all.

You guys are so funny! It's great to be able to share EVERYTHING with my friends here. When I had my first colonoscopy over 10 years ago, I had one 16 oz bottle of fizzy super lemon-lime yucky stuff to drink the night before followed by lots of water. This time it was a gallon plastic jug with powder in the bottom that you add water to. After a whole day of clear liquids, I had two Dulcolax tablets at 6 p.m. An hour later I had to start drinking 1/2 gallon of the Golightly stuff and had only 60 minutes to get it down. Bleah! At 1 a.m. I had to take the final two Dulcolax and at 2 a.m. had to finish the other 12 gallon within an hour. I failed...took me an extra hour to get it down.  Things settled down enough to sleep by 4 a.m. and I had to get up at 6:30 a.m. We were home by noon. So easy. The reports were good too.

Lost my own request here that I was typing, but I was calling all Poopers! Just kidding!  We have a new BC sister in Edmonton that is totally lost. She has her pathology report from radiology and that is all. Her last few days have been hell because of her crappy (couldn't help it Bawling) PCP. So, she's trying to figure out her stage, her grade, etc. Some of us have been cheering her on the last few days but she needs a team. It's been suggested she find "pathology reports" or Canadian women but I see so many of you on other sites that I thought if you have suggestions maybe you could jump on her forum. It's "feel like my world is crumbling under my feet" forum (might have a word missing) and it's only a few days old. Her name is goodnessme.  Hopefully, I'll see some of you on there!

Sandra, I hope there was a typo - 12 gallons at 2 am? Hoping it was 1/2 gallon, even that's a lot.

I am so glad the colonoscopy is over! Lesson learned: next time no all lime green liquids the prior day. Lime jello, lime powerade = everything leaving my body green! Kinda of like the UTI pills that make orange pee, first time I saw it, I just laughed. TMI? Compared to other threads, this is tame

Oh my!  What an interesting conversation.  I can't keep up with this thread! I am yet to have a colonoscopy and am putting that baby off as long as I can.  I eat a ton of fiber so hopefully that will help :)

On the exchange note, I get my new "girls" on Tuesday (04/29).  I am pumping myself up!  I hate surgery so I really try hard to flip my thinking and be positive as I really think it has an impact on how you heal.  Happy

hipz - Tuesday will be great and you'll come home on the 'squishy' side!!!  And, speaking as a mom, a sister, a daughter, a wife, a friend, and a sister-in-law to a man nearing end of life after a 9 year battle with what started as colon cancer.........don't put off the colonoscopy as long as you can!!  It's a screening test that needs to be done just like a mammogram.  Eating lots of fiber is no guarantee against colon cancer. Colon cancer is one of the most easily curable cancers when discovered early.  I wasn't at all interested in taking that step either but after the BC diagnosis and BMX/TE placement, I was much more willing.  I had mine about a year ago at age 51 and actually almost started bawling when my surgeon said 'see you in 10-12 years' I was so relieved that God didn't have another cancer surprise for me.  The prep really wasn't all that bad, just inconvenient.  I had more pain AFTER the procedure (gas)!!

Make that call after you get the exchange behind you!

Sermon over - still love me?

Mud-flap removal update:  Won't be able to check out results until surgical bra comes off at follow-up on Monday but that's OK.  Even then, I imagine there will be at least some level of swelling, so it's another opportunity to be patient and stay away from the mirror.

Have had very little post-surgical pain but did take my hydrocodone last night just in case.  Pharmacy packet said it shouldn't be taken with sleep aids so I didn't dare take the usual 10mg ambien and 6mg melatonin with it for fear I wouldn't wake up.  Needless to say I had a VERY restless night. If I tried to read or watch TV I couldn't keep my eyes open, but when I did nod off I'd wake up and not be able to sleep again unless I tried to read or watch TV so I couldn't keep my eyes open again.  Repeated that scenario over and over all night long.  Fitbit tells me I was awake 12x and restless 33x - blech!  I can tell things are a bit tender and am being careful about reaching, lifting and pushing off the sofa when I go from lying down to sitting/standing.  Just gonna be hanging out and will check in here occasionally.

    Hey, Everyone!

I had my exchange on Wednesday the 23rd.  Today is the 26th, and I just took off the Ace wrapping.  Meh...they look ok, I guess.  I'm glad to have read this thread so I know about "fluffing" because the right side definitely needs it!  I am VERY pleased with how soft they are!!

I also have a dog ear removed from the left side, and that has caused more pain than anything.  If it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't even be taking pain meds now.

    Best wishes to all,
    Artemis

Had my fourth colonoscopy about 2 weeks ago- took Prepopik. It was as good as it gets. A citrus flavor powder you mix with only 5 oz of water and drink. Then over the next few hours drink about 5 glasses of water. Repeat the next morning early.  It worked well, and who cant drink 5 oz of pretty good tasting anything? I was thrilled, and will never do the gallon stuff ever again.

Hopefully I won't ever have to have another colonoscopy (I'm 65 now) but if I do, I'm going to ask for the alternate methods you guys had. The gallon jug was so hard to get down...even 1/2 gallon at a time. (LOL, not 12 gal)

They did an endoscopy too which also turned out fine. But when the anesthetic spray wore off a few hours later, I was ready for Tylenol. I must have fought them about getting the tube down my throat. One spot on the roof of my mouth is swollen and raw. Oh well, it will heal. The mouth heals faster than anything else in or on our bodies. The other end is raw too from the bowel prep that went on and on and on. TMI, I know. Loopy Just goes to show we can share ANYTHING on BCO.

I'm doing great. Getting a few little things done around the house in between reading and tv watching and naps and catching up on bc.org.  Not much discomfort but am utilizing the Norco to keep even that to a minimum and help keep me feeling a bit tired so I don't over do things.

Thanks for the positive thoughts on my surgery Sweet&special!  I was only joking about the colonoscopy! My mother in law actually recently passed away and was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer right before her death because she kept putting off the colonoscopy.  She was in her late 70's and a lung cancer survivor so IMO should have had several of them done by that age!    I am only 42 so have not reached the age yet where the testing has been recommenced.  I know it is coming in the future though. For now I eat very healthy and have not had any concerns in that area thankfully!  Smile

Just got back from a quick follow-up visit with PS (after dog-ear removal on Friday). He took off the gauze and tape which was a huge relief!  DH thought the tape removal looked very painful but I told him later that for someone who's been doing her own bikini waxing for years, pulling a little surgical tape off bare skin is nuttin!  So, PS said everything looks good, I can shower (YAY!!!), and he wants to see me in a week an a half.  Still have steri-strips and haven't really checked it out too closely yet.  I can tell you the incisions do extend much further toward my back now (my BMX incisions were horizontal across the nipple line) but that doesn't worry me.  I know they'll be nearly invisible a year from now.

Looking at the schedule above and wishing Curlylx the best of luck with her exchange today!

Oh, yes, except for the usual sleep pattern problems I have every day anyway this surgery has been a piece of cake.  Even easier than the exchange because there are no muscles involved.  Really no pain, just a little tenderness to the touch and even that is disappearing quite rapidly, so I have to be conscious about not over-doing things.  The incisions now end about where the back of my arm is when my arms are relaxed at my sides.  Not bad at all, and they'll heal up quickly if my previous experiences are any indication.  Thanks for the thoughts!

went in for my PS to remove the dressing /onQ pump today.   I didn't spend too much time looking at them (didn't even ask for a mirror!), but my hubby and PS were both going on and on about how good the incisions looked and how little bruising there was!  :)

I did dribble a little water down my shirt a few minutes ago and had to do a little mopping up.  After sticking my fingers in there to wipe up the water, I feel like the little girl from Despicable Me when she hugs her fluffy unicorn, except I'm saying, "oh my!! They're so squishy!!!"

I quit taking Percocet Friday and asked my PS if I could just take Valium instead and I feel so much better!  Now, if I can just remember not to do things with my arms.  :)
