I thought I would join this thread. I just had my exchange surgery today and so far so good.

It's no where near the horrific pain I as in when they put in the tissue expanders in! What a relief.

    Hugs to all.

I'm scheduled for implant exchange surgery next week. Yesterday I had an appt with my PS and she says she makes a new incision underneath the breast to put the implant in. I thought she would go in through the original incision. Has anyone heard of this?

    Leslie

Mine used same incision. Why make a second set of scars?? One is bad enough!

shoppygirl - welcome to the squishy side!!! Glad all went well. Now just sit back n let your body heal.

Leslienva - I had four surgeries and all thru the same incision so that's news to me. I hope someone will come along soon n have more info for u. Did u ask your surgeon why?? I certainly wouldn't want another scar unless there was a medical reason for it so certainly don't b afraid to question your surgeon.

Shoppygirl, love your name and welcome!

Leslie, my ps also went through the mastectomy scar. You should get a second opinion. You don't want that many scars! I had 3 surgeries on my left, and 2 surgeries on my right. I know you had trouble with infection, but I have never heard of that.

Leslienva: Had my exchange surgery 4 weeks ago and my PS also inserted through new incisions under the breasts. My mastectomies were skin-sparing and I have vertical incisions so maybe that's why? At this point I think I am experiencing the "drop & fluff" I've read about in this forum and you cannot see the scars underneath at all as they are hidden in the infra-mammary fold. I am very happy with my exchange outcome. When the vertical scars fade, the new girls will look even better. Have a 2nd post-op appointment next month to discuss NAC rebuild. Not sure whether I'm up for another surgery or will opt for Vinnie's, but in the meantime I ordered prostheses from pink-perfect which look amazing.

Wishing you a successful exchange!! Such a joyful day!

Welcome shoppygirl! I agree. Implant surgery was easy.

Kingster, My BMX scar is under my breasts and my PS used the same one.

Leslienva:  My plastic surgeon made new incisions under the breasts to put in the implants.  That was on October 6.  I had no pain from them.  You can't see anything at all!  For me, this was great as my mastectomy scars have healed nicely.

Yeah Suze and Shoppygirl. . .welcome to the squishy side.

Leslie. . .I would ask PS. Mine used the same incision for exchange and I'm nicely healed 3 months out. At least if you ask your PS will explain.

Cheddiecat will have to look into pink perfect and I'm going the Vinnie route as well.

    Leslienva:

I agree with Queen Celeste. My plastic surgeon also made new incisions under the breasts to put in the implants. I had very little pain from them. You can't see the exchange surgery scars and my mastectomy scars have healed well. They are very pale.

Leslie, my foobs don't droop like a natural breast, so if I had scars under, I would see them. Maybe I will droop eventually, but I look totally 100% fake. I am 8 months post ex. But, maybe your skin is more compromised in the center because of your infection. I had no infection issues, thank God. Wish you would have known about this plan sooner, because it would have given you more time to ask questions and such. Next week is almost here. I know that I didn't want to keep my TE not one more second than I had to.

Does anyone know a solution for a scar that pulls inward? My left side does that.

My PS said she would also give me a pain pump, but is that really needed with an implant exchange? I really don't want a lot of tubes

I also have nipple prosthetics from Pink Perfect. Really love the look but the glue doesn't survive a shower. Are you finding that as well? I was in touch with the company about it and they said I may need a stronger glue as some women don't have success with the glue they send. Its pricey so I just re-do each morning. kind of annoying but I love the look! Does the glue work for you

Leslie, I had pain pump for BMX but not EX! Pain controlled by OTC Extra Strength Tylenol! I even had some pocket work done and still tolerable.

Welcome home Suzy and to the squishy side. Exchange surgery is a wonderful thing! Never thought I would have said that about any surgery but think the others have been so bad that exchange was a relief! Happy weekend all!

Thank you all for the well wishes. That fat grafting is no joke!! My breasts feel awesome, but, my donor sites (inner thighs and abdomen) are black and sore. I was warned this would be the case, but, whew it's painful, lol...still so very grateful to be on the squishy side and on the mend! Happy weekend peeps!

Suzy, is it common to do FG at same time as EX? I thought they usually do that after the EX to see where improvement is needed. I don't have to worry about this, jusy curious.

Leslie, You will certainly not need a pain pump! I did not even take one Tylenol after my exchange!

    Robin,

I'm not sure if it's common or not, but, it was planned all along to provide extra coverage and smooth out the implants. I suppose more could be done later if needed?

Yeah, one more thing to have hanging from me! I'm going to tell her I don't want the pain pump.
