Cheri and Jan - funny story about the cold foob issue: It's been cold here - like lower 20's cold at night! (very cold for this part of TX). Since my 17 y-o's car still isn't fixed yet from his accident, we've had a lot of quality time in the car between school and swim practice. I commented about how cold my foobs were and said that they pretty much assume the ambient temperature. He said, "Now when someone asks you what the temp is, all you have to say is 'Wait - let me check my foob!"
Johnson - Welcome! Please don't be worried about your small size. Let me tell you, the ps's can do AMAZING things! Although I'm not petite, I was extrememly small - described by the bs in her operative notes as having "exceedingly small breasts." Honestly, they were essentially nipples on my ribcage. I couldn't even get my first fill for 9 weeks because I was still so tight from just placing the TEs, which were the smallest made. I was so very worried during the whole expansion process - I just couldn't imagine how everything would turn out - but it did. In fact, last week at my appt, my ps said that I was "the ultimate test" (of the low-height TE) because I had absolutely no extra tissue to work with. So, have faith!

Hi Ladies - Had my exchange surgery, bilateral silicone implants. Most everything looks wonderful but my breasts seem flat. I have heard a lot about "fluffing". Can someone tell me what that is and is it something that occurs soon after implants are in. Can I expect to become rounder over these first few days/weeks. I am finding I am resting and sleeping a lot, not really interested in doing too much and trying to keep from eating myself out of house and home. I have been trying to lose weight and sitting around on my hiney for 2 weeks is not going to help anything. I also noticed immediate weight gain of 3.5 lb after surgery which totally blew me away. Doesn't seem possible that silicone would weigh more than those gigantic tissue expanders, but maybe I was just filled with IV fluid as someone else mentioned.
So, tell me what you can about "fluffing".

Deborah, thanks so much, I'm going to ask the PS about this, as he told me he couldn't lift them much higher than they were at the lower scar. I just didn't want another surgery if he couldn't lift them quite a bit higher. I'll try to post some more pics soon. I think they have fallen more.
Good luck to the ladies having surgery this week.

Am alive and well!!!
Surgery went just fine and PS ended up using Allergan Style 20 700 cc's. NO DRAINS was the best news ever. Got to shower today and yes, totally understand the hamburger bun description that everyone uses. Am having some trouble with slight naseau so might stick with Advil for pain instead of Hydrocodone. Am having pains under the arms and along the outer sides. Go to PS on Tuesday for follow up. Not sure what his recommendations will be on bra vs. no bra, compression bra timeline etc. but will let you know.
Will post some updated pics in the next week or so. Am heading back to the comfy chair. My DH is the best male nurse I have EVER met!!!

Colleen, Great news! I am glad that you are home and that you are in good hands with your DH taking care of you.
Laura, Girlie, we are never going to grow up! I haven't earned enough Girl Scout merit badges to graduate into full adulthood. I am trying to be good so I can get into heaven, right now the vote isn't in! You never know when God will be reading this forum!

Oh where o where are some of you sistas?? Hope you all are doing well from your surgeries as well as those who are preparing to have surgeries! It is so hard to keep up with everyone! Jan1, you're good! I think I need to start writing down everyone's name & profiles so I don't miss anyone!
cnemeth ~ Nice not to have those drains...I agree!
As for me I am doing better except for some rashes I continue to get around my "port" in my augmented side. Will have to contact my PS tomorrow.
Take care ladies! Continuing to pray for all!

I'm new and am so lost and confused. I have TEs filled to about 300cc and am told they can hold up to 550. I'm 5'5" 130lbs used to be a 32C and am hoping for a 32D with projection. But looking at some of the posts here, I'm beginning to understand how little I understand. My ps is very vague when I ask questions so I need some help in figuring out what I'm talking about so that I can ask the right questions and be more proactive in getting what I want. Any help would be so appreciated!

Juliempw ~
Welcome Julie!!! You have come to the right place! We have all come here feeling lost & confused... but no longer.. because you have joined an awesome group of women in different stages of their BC journey.
There are many that can give you more insight on size...implant...etc. than me like Whippetmom...or Rockwell_girl. All have given me advice which has been useful throughout my journey. After joining the EC...never did I feel "lost" with each PS visit I had.
We are here to advice...comfort...vent...you name it!! We have all been there!
Welcome!

Jan thank you for the good wishes. I am apprehensive about the surgery on Wednesday... mainly worried about how much I will hurt and how badly I will feel the loss. I am a unilateral too so I am trying to be prepared for being uneven for awhile (which I'm not happy about, but the alternative -- losing both breasts -- is less appealing). My mom is coming to sit and wait for me on surgery day (I didn't see the point of having my boyfriend miss work when my mom was so eager to be there with me). I've spent the last few weeks doing all sorts of things to make it easier once I'm post-operative. I am very sad about it (Nedeza I so understand what you are feeling -- I can only hope that my end results are as good as yours).
Laura -- sending you good wishes and prayers for business to pick up and stay picked up!

Hi all, I have been around for awhile, but admit not frequently. It's after 2 in the morning and I can't sleep, so here I am. I have been reading the last few pages of posts and feel it really is what I needed. I had my exchange on Dec. 1st, and all seems to have gone well with the procedure. Unfortunately, there was a lot of emotional aggravation which didn't help, including being bumped and delayed for over 6 hours. It is too long a story, but I had three upsetting events all in the week surrounding surgery.
Today was a tough day emotionally, and from what I am reading, I am not alone. I just hate being tied into and at the mercy of the medical system. I was feeling good before surgery and I guess it's just a bummer being back with incisions, drains, etc. For this and other medical reasons, during the last 2 1/2 years so much time and thought is about health, tests and so on.
Sorry for whining, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate people's honesty. It helps me to know other people go through similar feelings. I try to remind myself that these feelings will pass.

Teresa..you will be JUST FINE with all of us praying for you and keeping you in our thougts!! I'm excited for you! You hang in there girl and just know that your TaTa sisters are with you all the way!!!
Patti...bless your heart! Trust me we all know your pain and are with you! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! My last surgery which was Sept 20...it was my 4th in a yr.....well I was glad my tubes were in for a long time because I developed cellulitis in my left breast (for the 3rd time!!!) my ps told me if he had taken the tubes out he would have had to put in a tube because of the infection! It was in there so long it actually came out on it's own...lol ok well it was almost out...all but 2 inches of it. Anyway I am so sorry for your other aggravational problems! URGH on them!!! Just stay here with us and we will help you through it all. It all sucks but we have each other and we will survive!!!
WE ARE THE TATA SISTERHOOD!!!
HUGS!!

MyKidsMom - will you remove me from the surgery list for nips on 12/29 but add me for new implants on 12/22 - going from 800cc silicone to 1200cc saline. Thanks.

Good luck to all of us having surgery this week!
Teresa -- by now you are probably already out of surgery -- hope it went smoothly and that you aren't too sore.
Thanks to all for your advice and encouragement (whether direct or indirect). I will be offline on Wednesday for surgery... not sure if I will be able to get back to boards until Thursday night (depends on whether there is wireless service at the hospital)... I will be staying overnight and hopefully out on thursday!
Cheers,
Lilah

My best thoughts and wishes to everyone who is having surgery this week!!
My contracture surgery was done last Wednesday and today the dressing and drain were removed. The best news is that the new foob is SOFT and looks pretty good, considering that it has only been 5 days since surgery. PS told me this morning that my contracture was "really bad" -- he put a few stitches in this time so the implant can't migrate under my arm like it did before. I am supposed to wear a sports bra and massage the implant several times a day. I'm really encouraged! Take care. --bonnie

Hi Tata Sisters.
I've been out of town for a while visiting DH's family. We drove home for 8 hours yesterday in a statewide snowstorm. Luckily the road crews did a fantastic job and the interstate was moving along pretty good.
I'm starting a new job tomorrow!! I've been unemployed since Aug of 08. I'll be the Director of an Alzheimer's building at a retirement community. Tomorrow I start at 8 am and then stay to lead the support group at 7 pm. Nothing like jumping into the fire. They are being incredibly understanding about having my nipple surgery on Thurs, the follow up appt on Tues and my onc appt on Wed. Then I guess I'll just have to go to work and behave myself for awhile.
Hope all went well today Teresa! My prayers are will all of you having surgery this week.
Love you all.

Jan,
Thanks for the best wishes for the upcoming surgery. Can't wait.
I'm getting nervous about the exchange. Guess it is the unknown and putting all my faith in the PS. We did discuss implant sizes but I'm still anxious. I was told my old rad side will need some extra work-what fun-hopefully no drain. I got call from the RN from the anesthesiology group who went over my history and meds. She said I will be at the center for a total of 6 hours (surgery to take 1 1/2 hours) then home. I hope to post that evening . Got my patch for nausea as I get sick from almost all pain meds.
To everyone else having surgery this week, best of luck. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Feeling much better on just Advil. Went to work long enough to check email, voice mail and go out to lunch. That wore me out, had to come home and watching cooking shows for a couple of hours. I am a sloth right now!!!
Not much pain except under the arms and only when I stretch a certain direction. Fortunately those motions have nothing to do with pouring or drinking a glass of wine. It is pouring rain here today.
Take care all!!! Colleen

There is so much to keep up with and I am slow at responding to it all but read it all and think of you all often and everyone's help and insight is really valued. We have a busy week of surgeries...good luck to you all and look forward to hear how everyone is doing.
I got a kick out of those who said there implants retain the cold...never would have thought I might have to deal with that problem...I get cold easily as it is. Will be interested to see if I notice this also.
I have exchange surgery on Friday (staying healthy, so far) but am scheduled to have Herceptin treatment on Monday. Does anyone think this will be a problem with just having had the exchange on left side and lift and small implant put in on the right side? I have a port on the right side and am starting to wonder whether having the surgery and being swollen, possibly in pain (?) and just not sure what to expect with having to get treatment. I know the onc. will not put off Herceptin treatment for more than a day, they like to stick with the schedule. Any thoughts?
So glad to hear that those who had their surgeries are doing well and pleased overall with the results. What a great feeling it must be to not have that hard turtle shell on your chest any more!!
Thanks to you all, your all great women!!

Does anyone one have suggestion for pain after a fill?
Had my 4th one today and I think I have finally gotten to the painful part.
I am up to 650 cc trying for 800
right now I am having a glass of wine since the tylenol hasn't done any good and wore off 2 hours ago.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Musiclovermom,
Wine is a good start.
I found that ibuprofen (400mg) with food helped. Also, warm showers. Once I used a cold pack at the inframmatory fold beneath the breast, at the ribs, and I swear that helped too. But be careful with both hot and cold - you have less sensation, so may not feel if it is TOO hot or TOO cold. Test on your wrist first.
Firni, congrats!
Bonnie, congrats!
