Oh.....tears came to my eyes with Laura's report about Teresa! Hallelujah!!!
Texas: I am grieving with you about needing to go back to surgery. You will come through this. It is never worth having the larger implants if they are going to be detrimental to healing or skin integrity. Hang in there....we are praying for you...

((((((((((((((((((((TEXAS))))))))))))))))))))
I am grieving with you too... STUPID RADS BOOBS! I HAVE ONE TOO... as so many of you know.
Even a smaller implant is better than implant failure with a rad boob. You are still going to look like a MILLION bucks sister... Perky and Purty! ((love))

Hi beautiful ladies!
I had exchange surgery on Monday, and wanted to post with updates but have been following along hoping and praying for good news for Teresa and Texas. Texas, so sorry to hear you're having trouble with your implants, I can't imagine how hard that must be after waiting for this surgery! Teresa that is such good news for you!
Ok so here's my report. Had surgery on Monday when many of you were burning cookies, I was almost tossing mine...lol! I had a little nausea on the way home but all was well. Monday night I had some bleeding (seeping) on the left side (unrad side), and doc said that was normal.... ? It has stopped. I have no drains, he said I was too thin and didn't need them. My implants are not very big, but I guess I knew that going into this I just couldn't take the fills, I'm about a small C....450 ccs he put in. I just took my first shower....MAN did that feel good! I really feel very good! I little swollen, which is to be expected, and to be honest my rad side (right) is a bit higher and smaller than left, but from everything I'm reading that's normal I guess. Does the unradiated side seem to get more swollen than the rad side?
I'm actually thinking of going to work tomorrow I feel that good! Just a little sore is all, but the pain from the TEs is gone!
Anyway you are all in my thoughts and prayers, and good luck to all who are having theirs coming up! Please report!
Diane

Hi all, I am two weeks out from my exchange (finished radiation in early June). I think the results are okay. Unfortunately, the non-radiated side is still a little lower (medi-port was in the way and I think I am a little smaller than I would have liked. My last two expansions were quite uncomfortable and I know we were pushing the time to start radiation, so I believe that is why I am this size. (Does anyone know what Mentor High Profile 500 ccs is in cup size?) I am not planning on doing any modeling (haha), so I am hoping a bra will give me better results. Anyway, I am curious how long people wore a bra 24/7 after the exchange? I have still been using the surgical bras but also have sports bras that the PS said would be fine. Thanks for the help.

I had my exchange in August and still feel best in my surgical vest which I wear at night! I do wear sports bras during the day....but have not found a good supporting fashion bra that feels comfortable for more than an hour...
Somebody told me yesterday that Nordstrom's has a big store wide sale every January....I thnik I will hold out buying anything more until then...i have spent quite a penny on uncomfortable bras already! POOH! This bra thingy is becoming a pet peeve of mine....
God Bless!

I was just going to ask when Nordstrom's has the bra sale. I just had exchange on Friday. The non rad side is a little lower but I'm hoping things will settle more evenly. It feels SO GREAT. Before the exchange the old rad side was very, very hard even with all the massaging. I'm in the sports bra for 2 weeks total (24 hours) then only during the day. Can't wait for the drop to occur. DH said I looked good in a sweater today. Except I noticed my new girls are very high.
For the girls with the rad breasts, when did you start massaging after the exchange? PS said of course no massaging yet. I go back in 2 weeks will get more info then.
I'm so very sorry for those having trouble. I say my prayers everyday for my fellow sisters.

Laura - a D cup, really? That's funny because my PS told me I would most likely not be a D cup (I had implants pre BC and was a full D or DD, depending on the bra). I got to see them today. So far everything looks good.

Hi EC Gals. I've been off the site for a while (needed a break) but I wanted to pop back in to say I had nip & areola recon surgery today (grafts) and feel great. The surgery took only about 90 minutes and I was sent home an hour later. I could probably be up doing everything completely normally, but am not going to waste an opportunity to spend a day (or two!) in bed.
I have no idea what they look like since they are covered up by massive bandages, but I will update on the picture site when I get the bandages off. I do have a bloody scar on my bikini line where the grafts were taken from, but I'm not in any pain and am thrilled to be DONE with reconstruction. I'm approaching my 1 year cancerversary, and really wanted to be done with everything by 2010, so say a little prayer for me that it's so.
Best of luck to Theresa, everyone who's having surgeries, and everyone else on this great thread. You are wonderful!

Samian40! Congratulations on completing your recon!! Prayers that it all be done and healed well!
God Bless!

Teresa: So glad things went well for you today!!
Texas: Thinking of you and so sorry that you have to go through this.
samian40: How excited you must be to be done with this whole process! Congratulations!
I had my drain removed today, yeah! PS said he thought my augmented side should go down a little from swelling and that I should start massaging the exchange side to help it to drop it into the pocket. He thought things looked fine. I can see such a difference in size and can only hope that they will match better with time. I was so discouraged about this all and am trying to say that I can never be the same as I was and that this will just be the new me. Can someone tell me if the size of implant determines cup size??? I was B cup (or so) and he put in a 480cc...does anyone know what that would translate in to?
Will be thinking of those going into surgery tomorrow! Keep us posted!

5 days and 7 pages later I am crying, laughing, and crying again. I feel as though I am living each of your experiences and can totally relate to so many of them. My heart goes out to each and every one!!!
Theresa and Texas ~ you cannot possibly have this many wonderful women praying for you and not have things work out.
My exchange went well and I am trying to decide if I like them or not. Husband and PS love them. They do feel a little awkward and if they get uncovered at night ~~ Brrr! Wearing a surgical bra at night and sports bra for the next 30 days.
Kind of flat so am looking forward to the drop and fluff part. Look great in a bra so I have decided that I am not even going to think about it for at least 3 months. (Okay not that I don't think about it every day while showering and dressing but I mean not going to worry and fret about it until March 30, 2010!!)
Am going to mosey on over to the pics and see everyone's updated photos. I will get mine updated on Saturday (hopefully ~ surgery and Christmas has set me back a bit on weekend catch-up) and let you know.
Love, hugs and prayers to all of you ~~ the most brave and strong women in the world!!!!

My PC's been on the blink so it has been hard getting on the EC. I cannot believe how many posting occur in such a short time. I have been trying to get caught up! Looking back on all the postings I realize each time what a wonderful group of women I share my "journey" with. I am soo proud to be a part of this "sisterhood"! It has lifted me up when I was down. It has given me hope when I felt sooo alone!
To all the ladies who I shared the "exchange" dates...I hope you all are recovering nicely. Today is the first day I can actually say I did not "think" about my implants...they felt "normal" for once. Hope your "girls" are doing fine too! LOL!
Prayers to all going through exchanges soon! It is night & day!
Theresa & Texas ~
We are all pulling for you both!!!
God bless you all!!!

Thanks for your comment on my pics. I would have to agree...I know my breasts probably were not exactly even then but now that it has become "all about the breasts"...wow!!! I don't think I ever paid this much attention to my "girls"!! LOL!!!

Kitty... Maybe a large C. What is your rib cage?? I was thinking that if your ribcage is smaller.. ( under 32) you could be a LARGE C or SMALL D... ???
Ladies finishing exchanges.. thanks for posting... hang tight...

I was just checking out the pic forum & watched the video on massaging the implants. When should this begin. I occasionally do this but not for 30 mins.! I was told by my PS that I can do the massaging on my aug. side but as far as the MX side...there is all ready scar tissue from the TE & massaging is not really necessary...something like that. Hmm. I think I've been in a whirlwind & really can't remember what she said now....Whippetmom...Estepp...Rockwell_girl...what is your take on this?

I didn't get home from surgery until 10:30 last night. This was surgery #8 for me since diagnosis, and the first one that REALLY kicked my butt. I'm sore and groggy.
I went from 400 cc implants down to 325, which is smaller than my natural breasts. (I'm 5'5" and 115 pounds.) But the good news is that I finally have relief from that tight feeling in my radiated breast. With the larger implant, it still was tight and slightly uncomfortable.
My PS gave me the option of going back to a TE, continue expanding the radiated side, and keeping the larger implants. But that would have prolonged the process, meant one more surgery and plenty more doctor appointments. I decided to just get used to the smaller size.
Thanks again for the hugs and prayers.

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all your prayers and good wishes. So heres what has happened. PS went in yesterday and he removed 250cc's of fluid, he said it didn't look to be infected. He did a quick gram stain which came back negative while I was under, if it had been positive out would of came the implant. He also sent the fluid off for cultures. Will have more info on that in a couple days.
He took out the implant and washed it and flushed inside the pocket with an antibiotic solution. He also gave a drain. I had another 100cc out put by midnight last night so I definitely need it.
He can not explain why my white count was/is so high. I will be having that checked again tomorrow and will hopefully be seeing a big decrease.
I can tell you that I feel so much better. No fever. No more pain...well except from the drain and being opened up again. But that awful pain from being so swollen is gone.
I will be seeing the infectious disease doctor on tuesday and then the PS. Hopefully at that time this will all be resolved.
You guys have been amazing, I dont know what I would have done without any of you.
Well back to sleep for me.
Teresa

I had my exchange surgery yesterday and feel okay other than a sore throat and some mild pain around the incisions. I also am sporting 2 lovely drains that will hopefully come out Monday. I took a peek at the implants and I can say I am not impressed, they look oddball shaped and are kinda flat, maybe due to the wrapping. I am going to get some Vicodin for pain since the Percoset make me itch like crazy. I sure hope they take better shape when the bandages come off, otherwise I will feel sad that I went through so much pain for nothing. Good luck and breast wishes to you all!
