    Geena,

I have Allergan HP 425cc, I am similar in size about 30 inch rib cage and 117 lbs.  Deborah has the knowledge and I am so glad I listened to her.  I am a B cup and with the right projection I wanted.

    Lilah,

Sorry about the non filling.  But better to err on the side of caution.

I had genetic testing.  My BS recommended as I had DCIS when 37 and then LCIS when 54.  Since 2 different types and I was young for the DCIS.  But BRAC was negative.  The genetic counselor said insurance would pay as long as BC was found before age 39.  My BS was very suprised my test came back negative.

    Hi,

I went to the PS today.Got another fill. No pain at all. Just a fullness. Quite tolerable.  He said I need one more fill. So I must wait two more weeks. My breast is so big now( all relative though). He said he tends to overfill as the size of my lifted breast is not just the projection part but also the width. He said he uses a moderate projection implant..silicone and not an anatomical shape. He said he has had luck with this. I will ask more questions at my next visit.

I had the little tag from my first TE but that was almost a year ago. I am now on number three. No card with this guy.

Whippetmom- Thanks for all your info. You are invaluable to all here.

    Hugs,

    Francine

    Lilah,

I too hope your infection goes away.

    Antibiotics can work wonders.

    Good luck,

    Hugs,

    Liliah:

What antibiotic did they give you?I just finished Zyvox, there were some weird diet restrictions, but it was much easier than the course of vanco that came before it. I hope that its nothing.

    Jean:

Still keeping your mom in our prayers

    Francine:

They did the AJ blood test on me first, nothing, there is no BC at all on the AJ side of my family, like its not weird enough being an Irish Jew, the gene in my case is on the Irish side and its a specific rare BRCA1 mutation found in Irish families, only I could have such luck.

I agree (as does my girl) that by the time she is in her 30(s) they should have some gene therapy to correct the mutation.

Jean - Thanks for your thoughts on genetics... I'm thinking insurance will be the deciding factor for me since it doesn't run in my family at all. And I am adding your mom to my prayer list - and your worried mind, too.

Lilah - Sorry to hear about your unavoidable antibiotic delay. Just get that cleared up! Heal, gerl!

MusicLoverMom - You're too funny! I know that feeling of when the pain meds kick in. Such relief. I'm a baby when it comes to pain. I hope my docs don't give me a hard time. I go from 2 to 8 in a blink! And then me (and sometimes everyone around me) is miserable...

OMG Wendy is that the luck of the Irish?

I am taking Cefadroxil, a rather large pill, twice a day for 10 days.  At least it doesn't smell like rotten eggs, which is what the Cephalexin (I think that is how it was spelled) smelled like that I had to take 4x a day WITH food for 15 days after I was released from the hospital.  This one has no restrictions or dietary instructions; just take it twice a day.  I can do that! :)

Jean- so sorry about your mom.  She's in my prayers.

Deb- I think you should call it, "implant sizing advice"  - I think it would be a very valuable service for those who don't happen upon this website right away.  Good Luck with getting it all together.

    Liliah:

The vyvox diet has been brutal and I have to stay on it for two weeks after I am done. The holidays do not go well with the zyvox diet, no aged meat or cheese, no wine no beer, nothing pickled, no sauerkraut and G-d help me no soy, sushi just is not the same without a little soy sauce, and I swear, soy seems to be in everything. My cousin brought over corn dogs as a joke and we read the ingredients, soy, in a corn dog. Though I was relieved to have a reason not to eat the corn dog.

So now that I've decided on my implant size I really NEED a distraction.  I'm thinking a good book, I like Historical Fiction, also recently read The secret life of bees.  Anybody have any good suggestions?

Deborah, Maybe a title like.   "Basics in getting started with Recon" or "For all new comers: Getting started with reconstruction".

Geena, after going through tons (is it humanly possible to go through all) of the pictures, you might also look at val61 and tina337.  Tina's not happy with hers but I think it looks very natural and Val has an athletic build.

Musiclovermom, woo hoo on the last fill and drugs!

TNLady, I had the BRCA 1 then the BART (I guess it's the same as the BRCA2).  Insurance paid for the first but not the second.  But if you choose to do it and insurance won't pay for it the lab will call you and ask if you still want them to analyze your blood sample.  The second test was $650 and they put me on an interest free payment plan for $27/month for 2 years (I'll pay it off sooner but the low amount sure makes it reasonable).  All I did was sent them an email and asked if they had a payment plan available and this is what they gave me.

Mykidsmom (obviously also yourmomsdaughter), life can be so unkind.  Hang in there!

Deborah ~ Saw Dr. P today and got some information on the Integra TE's.  Let me know where you want me to send it.  Probably not exactly what you were looking for but it has contact information and a website address that could be helpful.

Am looking at nipples in March.  WooHoo!!

Also going with the girls (6 of us) to Maui the last week of January to celebrate a 50th birthday.  Cannot wait!!!!!  We celebrated my 50th in Maui 10/08 and that is when I got the call to come back in for another mammogram.  I don't care who feels me up at the airport or what they do to my bags~I am going to Maui!!!

Judy,  Thanks for the great sentiments.

Francine,  Have a great vacation, I think many of us went through the anniversary of our mx's.  It is a weird thing that we will never forget the date.  Good for you for doing something for yourself and make new and better memories for that date.

Welcome TNlady and anyone else who is new here

Jean,  I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, keep us posted and I am saying a prayer for her.

Laura, Great name for a new forum.

    CyndiS ~

Check with your surgeons if they use a pain pump post operatively.  It is a contnuous pump that delivers medication (usually a local anesthetic) 24/7 in small increments through a tube  that is attached to your surgical site.  It lasts up to 5 days.  It is not a common practice with every doctor  or situation but others would agree it is a life saver when it comes to dealing with the initial pain.  I think it is called a "On-Q Painbuster".  Some of us had it after the MX & others did not.
    Jean ~

Continual prayers to your family!  When it rains it pours...ugh!  Sending hugs your way!

Laura -- that IS a great name for the thread!

Wendy -- OMG so funny about an excuse not to eat the corn dog :)  I am hoping my current treatment ends here (with the 10 days of antibiotics which, so far, seem to not make me sick :)

Julie -- Have you ever read A PASSAGE TO INDIA by E.M. Forster?  It's got a historical fiction quality (set in India in the 50s, I believe) and also a SECRET LIFE OF BEES quality :)

    Cheers,

    Lilah

Can we all go to Maui with you??? What a ball we would have.

The name of the pain pump for post Mx is On-Que. It is a life saver. You certainly should ask for it.

Best wishes for all of you going for surgery!

I am off to see my Mom. Thanks so much for your prayers. I will tell her that you all are thinking of her!

    Love you all - Jean

Deborah, Laura, Janet and Julie - Thank you for all the feedback about implant size.

Deborah - Hmmm.  I have a lot to think about.  I'm going to study it and take it into my PS on Friday.  I also think I may cut out some circles of the varying diameters and see what they may look like on my body.  I realize this is in no way exact and with my wacky expanders it may be hard to get a decent visual, but what the hey -- I'm visual and it'll give me some idea.....  I also need to get a color printer cartridge and do a search on the web for some pics of the look I'm seeking....  I've got some homework this week!

Jean - Along with everyone else, my prayers are being sent for your mom....

    Peace,

    Geena

    Implant-Based Reconstruction 101

    Implant Sizing 101

    For Those Undergoing Implant-Based Reconstruction

    Implant-Based Reconstruction for Newbies

    Before You Have Implant-Based Reconstruction....

    Which sounds best?

I have to confess that I hesitate to start this thread because I am coming off as some type of EXPERT  in all of this and I am not an expert - I am just a research nerd.  Or like I am "teaching" - with the "101" header on the thread.  I am safe here on Exchange City with all of my girls - or on the pictures forum....but there might be others out there on the big-wide-world of bc.org who think I am full of myself.  Anyway....I'll do it .....and I DO think Laura's "101" idea is great because it really says "START HERE" or "BEGIN HERE."  I need reassurance....

Jean ~ All our prayers for your Mom!  And yes, you are all welcome to come to Maui with me.  Just think how hot all of us will look in our bikini tops!!!

Got fitted for a bra today at Nordstrom and she told me 34DD or 36D.  They just don't seem that big to me.  Guess that means the PS sized them right and I won't be looking like a stripper.  Drat!!

Deborah ~ As long as the new thread doesn't take you totally away from us!!  It is almost part-time employment (your rewards are extra stars in your heavenly crown) and you are doing a fantastic job at taking care of us!!!!  Definitely think you should do it.  I vote for "Implant Sizing" because it is a little more specific, Reconstruction is too general.

    Take care!!  Colleen
