Lilah - Thanks for the encouragement. I am really looking forward to getting the surgery done and over with. Then, I look forward to having a really positive attitude about it, much like Kimberly's. I will be Yippeee Squishyyyy!! Do I teach film??? Funny . At first, I thought where did she get that idea. Then I looked at my screen name. Got it! I was an educator, but I didn't teach film. Of course I can say that there were moments in my career when I wish I had those skills. Trust me,, if I had on film some of the adventures I experienced, no doubt in my mind, I would have a nomination for an Academy Award.
Take it easy everyone. Chris OMG - 3 more days. I can't believe it.

To the ladies with surgeries scheduled this week, best wishes and happy healing!
To the ladies who responded to my question about not feeling the foobs, I thank you profusely!!
Take care, all.

Deborah, Wow, that's a lot of information. Thank you so much for writing all that out. Now I'm more concerned because the inevitable droop that I will have from being over expanded adds to the fact that my breasts naturally sit lower on my chest wall. It worries me to have nipples done because if they end up needing revision after nipples are in place, where do they create an incision? Going a bit larger would not help this issue in the long run? I see my PS next week, I think I'm going to have to go in with some very good questions and a good idea of what I think I want to do. What are my options with this bit of extra skin and the fact that one side has more extra skin than the other?

Julie: I would not have nipples done until you are happy with your results. Absolutely not! There is no rush for nips. My feeling is that your PS could have used larger implants - even 50 ccs - which would be preferable to removing skin. It would be different if you could NOT handle larger implants...or if you would have been unhappy with larger implants. Not the case for you. Ask him about your extra skin - ask him why he did not use larger implants. Did he try different sizes on you in the OR? Ask the nurse to look at your chart and tell you how many sizers he took into the OR. It will be in the chart. There could be a valid reason....but you need to hear it...
BTW: It is really difficult for me to see in photos - in a one dimensional aspect - what is going on with your skin, unless it is a glaring excess. I see no glaring excess in your photos. Just wanted to add that....b/c you have a very nice result - you just might want some extra tweaking after things settle...as so many of us do....

I hope hope you are reading this Denise( mooretennis) and have nips done and feel good!!!!!!!!
Hi Ladies. woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot! Can you say it too.. for all of us BC girls.........

If I had my foobs on a Vegas billboard, not only would I get to see it everyday (since I live there), I also wouldn't need pasties - no nips yet!!! LOL!!!

BTW - I visited my onco today. He's going to call my OB to discuss my case. I asked him if I should get an opinion from an Onco GYN, but he said no ( or not yet), as my OB is very well respected. That made me feel good. He was very concerned about my sister, which kind of scared me!!!

Deborah -- I like the close up in your new pic (which I think is just your old pic, closer up on you) -- you are such a cutie! Also I think I remember Julie posting that she wanted the smaller size...
Me -- I had another fill yesterday -- now up to 720 cc's and it's definitely tight! One more is all I can take. Interestingly, I could feel the needle when they put it in -- and I definitely felt nothing when they first started. I'm happy about that (thought it did hurt!) because it's a sign of some feeling returning. I just am happy to have as much normal feeling skin as possible!
Reeltchr(Chris) -- lol yeah I guess I was being too literal about the "reel"

MooreTennis - Happy Nipple Day!
reeltchr - 2 more days until Yippee Squishy Day!
Lilah - I had 800 on each side... I know that you are feeling something right now! Keep getting those massages on your shoulder blade as often as possible!
All this talk of Vegas billboards makes me want to go too! I bet I could buy some red tassel pasties there.

LOL Kimberly on the red tassel pasties!

I got my red tassel pasties at Agent Provocateur in the Caesar's Palace shopping forum. Mine are shaped like hearts, and were a big hit on Valentine's Day!0

LOVE it Diane! I think the Ta Ta's MUST visit that place when we are in LV in the fall.

Julie, I'm on my third implant with the same 20 year old fipple, and it's still in the correct spot! I think that so many of us are expecting such perfect results, and it's okay not to be perfect. I hope in time the reconstruction is acceptable to those in doubt. I believe this 2nd guessing is a part of the trauma of bc. I know that I'm looking at it a little diferently than most of you, but I wouldn't consider another surgery to correct any minor issues. I'm sorry, I don't mean to cause any trouble here, just looking at it from a perspective of the reality that this initial implant will be changed in the future.
But on the lighter side, red valentine pasties!! Love it, sounds like a blast of a trip planned for Vegas!
And Kristen, thanks for the Aphrodite link! Looks like a beautiful book!

I thought some of you might need or know of someone that could use this info:
Any woman with cancer receiving Chemo treatments can get her house
cleaned monthly for 4 months while she is in treatment.
If you know any woman currently undergoing Chemo for ANY type of cancer,
please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that
provides FREE Housecleaning - 1 time per month for 4 months while she is in
treatment.
All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming
the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service
in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the
entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women. Log on to this website for more information: http://www.cleaningforareason.orgI don't post that often... but I read the blog's and enjoy reading all of your thoughts and comments. Much love, Andy

I have to remind myself sometimes that the reason I was clear from the start that I wanted reconstruction is that I wanted a breast where there had always been a breast ... for convenience and a feeling of "normalcy" more than to stare at myself in the mirror (as I've done countless times!)

{{Mooretennis, Reeltchr, Hannahbearsmom}} Sending excited wishes for your successful procedures this week!!
Lol on the red tassel pasties. I never had the nerve to try them before, but now..... How I wish I could join you all in Vegas!

I don't get it... Aren't pasties English meat pies? Why would you want to put them on your foobs for the billboard? Please explain.
Brenda

Oh, I did not see the word "tassels". Sorry, I was skimming and scanning.
How about beckoning fingers in place of nipples?

Brenda -- pasties is also a word used to describe a small item that covers the nipples on an otherwise topless woman

Val61 - Hi Sis! I just spoke to my ps about having a DIEP and he said I was not a candidate. He is removing the Allergan 410's and putting in Mentor medium profile with a wide base because of my chest wall size.
May I ask - what is "fluffing"????
My ps requires me to wear a snug sports bra for at least a month to keep the implants from moving laterally. He also wants me to sleep kinda sitting up - at least on my back. I have learned to sleep on my back because of it. 4 surgeries means 4 months of sleeping that way!
I sure do hope this time works. If not, I guess my plan B is to go flat.

OK, this kind of talk is exactly why my husband is not exactly thrilled about the Los Vegas trip...! On the other hand, a good friend of mine (married) just returned from a trip to LV with a bunch of girlfriends, and her Facebook status is "I'm back from Vegas. Don't ask cause I can't tell..."
English meat pies and foobs....too much.
Best wishes to the ladies undergoing surgery this week - you'll be so relieved when it is over!

Hi Kimberly,
I think I'm healing up pretty well. Once I got past the need for pain meds (allergic) things got a bit easier.
I got my first fill a few hours ago and it went really well My ps put 120cc in each breast...which I only learned after the fact.......I was expecting 60cc....I don't mind moving slowly to avoid pain I do trust him and he seems cautious and caring and asked me all along the way if I felt any discomfort...... I felt a little pressure at the end and he stopped immediately
I did take advil and tylenol before the procedure and it still hasn't worn off....I may not be feeling so pain free in an hour or so
The little picture in my avatar is of a jizo statue I made of a dog made with the influence of Jizo who is a buddhist figure that is a protector of women, children and travelers. I hope jizo looks over all the brave women who travel this road through cancer.
Strength and healing to all,
Laura

Hello Ladies - I am wondering if any of you have any tips or advice on getting a te to move over. My te on the left is too far over (more towards the armpit) and my ps has told me to keep trying to push it more into the center. I try every day, more than a few times a day, but it does not appear to be moving at all. The right side is fine, just the left is off. I don't know if it really matters much since it is not the final implant, but maybe it does matter.
Also, I am wondering if you know, or have read, if you should not wear underwire bras with implants. I looked a little online this morning, but there seems to be conflicting information.
Thanks in advance for your advice/knowledge.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Haven't posted in a few days - well, I go for my final fill (hopefully) tomorrow. Will be discussing implants - again. Each time I think I know what I am doing - I realize that I have more questions. For instance, if I go for the 800cc implant which is wider, does that mean that I will or won't have more projection than maybe a 750cc which is a little narrower?
Karen - my left side has always been under my armpit and about an inch higher than the right. I had asked PS if I could move it by pushing on it - he said that he would have to fix it at exchange, but told me I could try - I push on in every day and night - if anything, as it has filled, it seems to have gotten worse. PS is going to create a new pocket at exchange.
Kimberly - I noticed you have 800cc gel and am encouraged at your squishyness - do they project more than the TE's did? Absolutely love your enthusiam - you keep me uplifted.
NavyMom - I too have been consulting with PS on doing a tuck at the same time as exchange. Maybe this will help me with the difficult vision I have on projection on the implants.
Thanks to everyone for their posts of encouragement and wisdom.

Julie....just went back and looked at your pics. I do not see the extra skin...I see nothing slack about your skin over the implants.....the size looks fine...do both sides look equal in size to you?
0 -
Suzanne and Karen, one of my TE's was much higher than the other. At the exchange, pockets were adjusted and now are as even as can be!!! Soon you'll be off with the iron bras and into the squishies!!
Karen, I would ask your ps about underwire bras or not, seems everyone is told something different! I did like having strong tape that acted as an underwire to hold pockets in place for about 12 days after exchange.

Hello all,
First best wishes to everyone who has surgery soon or is recovering!!!!
And thanks to those of you who've had the exchange for explaining the change in sensation - besides the squish, I can't wait to just "not feel" this thing anymore!
Second, Deborah, thanks so much for your in depth write-up on the "overfilling" or "overexpansion" of TEs a couple of pages ago. I had been searching for that sort of info and hadn't managed to find the right sources, so I really appreciate your sharing. Now more questions for my PS...
Third, to Karen, about moving the TEs - mine is also imperfectly positioned (too high, mostly), and while I pushed and pushed it never really went anywhere. Nonetheless, I've seen some serial pics on the web showing some women's that did seem to drop over time, so movement seems to be possible for some. As all the PSs seem to say, "sometimes this happens; the pocket will be revised at the exchange". That said, I'll note that early on the lowest ~1 cm of my TE was not open at all because the tissue over it was really glued together - felt like duct tape - and through several months of gentle soft tissue massage by my PT 1x/wk and myself the other days we loosened all that up and that part's now open. But it's still too high and revision is needed at exchange. So, you might add gentle tissue massage on the edges where you want the TE to move to, to help loosening those areas up if they were surgically opened for the pocket but somehow got glue-y like mine, in addition to the pushing. That said, I know there are debates over massage of MX skin/tissue, and so I hesitate to suggest you do it w/o initial supervision. Perhaps you can get referred to a PT who does this (ins pays most/all) who can show you how to do it too, or at the least ask your PS if you're ok to gently massage. The blood supply is very limited in the flap skin esp in the first few weeks, and inappropriate manipulation could re-damage it, so go gently!! Also, there are a number of bras that have been discussed on this board in the last 25 pgs or so that people noted provided good side support, so perhaps wearing one of those could provide some continuous pushing for you.

Oh, I forgot this - regarding sleeping in an elevated position. For after my MX surgery, I got a wedge pillow made from memory foam that turned out to be really comfy. I just added a pillow for my head and put a skimpy one over the lower lip to ease the transition from it onto the bed and I used it for about a month. I got mine at Brookstone, and it cost more than I planned to pay ($100) but I couldn't find a different one locally that was decent. It feels quite firm as you first lay on it but the memory foam conforms to you after a few minutes and for me was quite comfy. Just a suggestion for people looking for elevated sleep setups.
