Rebecca:  Tell me how your gallbladder thing was....really....they are pushing me to get mine out before it is an "issue".  They keep asking why I'm so attached to it.  I think I'm more attached to NO MORE SURGERY right now..and I'm a big baby.  You can PM me if you want since it isn't a "BC" topic.  I would like to know though about recovery and pain and what they did.

    Bigapple, thinking of you today.

good luck with the new nips Deborah! oh i picked the right pair on that link you put up! lol

I just read what you put about Mentors anatomicals being softer than Allergens? i am now wondering if that what they use here cus my PS said there are 3 different types of 'firmness' and they use the mid range one.Top one is too firm and lower one too soft and doesn't keep its shape very well.

Off to look at implants in few mins and to see some photo's of women who had the teardrop cohesives so i can looki at end result. Will find out all i can from the nurse.

Deborah:  Thanks for the link on the nipples/areolae sizes.  I think that the larger the areolae, the more they will detract from incisions.  On the other hand, the smaller your areolae, the larger your breasts will appear.  I have been trying to "draw" my areolae on my turtle shells, and they do look much better than just shells with lines across from them.  I used to think I would look like Kermit the frog once the areolae were in place, but I am presently no longer of that opinion.  Somewhere down the road, the incisions will be white lines that nobody will notice.  For me, that will take years, but that's okay with me.

I just know you will like your results, Deborah!

Thanks everybody for the bra suggestions!!

Alot of you have talked about the PS doing pocket work during the exchange.  Do they cut the muscle again?  Won't that hurt?

    Deborah: I can't wait either.

Dawn-Hope  Yes I cancelled an appt for a week.  Sometimes you just need a longer break.  You'll make it though.

Hope4:  It's worth it.  Even though I am having problems, and had to go back for a LD flap, it is so worth it. i can already see the end will be great.

To everyone else, stay calm, stay directed, and stay as beautiful as you are.  Though I'd drop in to say hello..JUDY

Welcome Dawn-Hope...yes...it is ok to put off a fill if you are experiencing discomfort.  My ps didn't blink and eye if I changed my appointment...just talk to him about a slight delay :)

Kat, sorry your concerned about your new boobs..hope you ps puts all your worries to rest...looking forward to hearing from you....your pics look beautiful but I know pics don't always show the complete story.

Deborah, I know you've researched nips to death! I bet you'll have a gorgeous outcome :) Hope your home and healing happily before you know it :) Thanks for the great nip link!  I'm hoping to use my photo from pre bc as a model for my ps.

I have placed my 4wk post exchange pics on the forum with the fake nips as promised.  The company makes many sizes and colors.....they stick on very smoothly...may be a nice embellishment for ladies that want something in between procedures or for those that don't want nipples via surgery or tattoo. I was lucky to get them for free, I think they will be useful to demonstrate nipple placement to the ps ;)  or tatoo artist....

Best to everyone that will be having surgeries, nips, etc. this week :)

    Healing and strength,

bcincolorado - I had my gallbladder out in Dec 2006 and it took about a year (!) before my body returned to normal and I stopped cursing them for taking the darn thing out. It was an emergency situation, so I didn't have much time to research alternatives. One choice is to have gallstones removed (can't remember what they do), but it was not recommended because they almost always come back. My personal opinion was that I got them as an added bonus from two pregnancies and that since I was done having kids they wouldn't have come back, but you never know. There are also dietary things that supposedly help.

Anyway, I had huge amounts of bloating gas and fairly frequent diarrhea in the beginning, but somewhere along the line things worked themselves out and now I don't have much trouble unless I eat too much of something I shouldn't be eating anyway, like bacon.

Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.

Tory that is so funny. I know if you eat anything high in fat it will/can give you diarrhea.

I posted some new pics I don't really see any difference but I am ok since I know nothing is final. In the pics you will see I just got out of bed and the red line around the IMF is from the bra I sleep in it does not usually leave the mark but I am still swollen from my surgery. I am feeling much better today though. I will get the staples out tomorrow.

I am thinking that I could have lost weight if I would have waited for the surgery since I did not eat for 6 days  LOL  good diet plan maybe hehe.

Well i still dont know the brand of implant my PS uses as the breast nurse doesn't know. She did do her best to find out but they PS's were in another part of the hospital and busy. I did get to hold one though! =D It was alot more quishy than i imagined. It was an anatomical cohesive gel one. It said on the back 'MM 360gram' so was thiking moderate height/moderate projection?? It also said 'McQuan' on the back but i don't know it that is a brand or what.

I told the nurse that the PS and I seemed to have conflicting ideas about finished size etc and she said i MUST speak up and talk to my PS~however busy she seems as its MY body and ME that has to live with it. But she also said my particular PS is a perfectionist! woop woop! Thats encouraging to know.

She showed me some prosthetic nipples. WOW!!! They looked so real!! Quite freaky actually cus they looked like they'd been sliced off someones boob and put in a bag!Surprised My PS is also the one that does the nip recon and i saw some photo's of the work she'd done. BRILLIANT is all i can say! we currently have to travel to get the tattoos but after seeing photo's of what you got?? I am gonna wait til they do them at our hospital as they were awful and the nurse said it first!  They are currently training up the people who make the prosthetic nips and if they're half as realistic as those, that'll do me.

The nurse even said i could be entitled to a one-off grant! i had no idea! you can apply and they can send you up to £200 in shopping vouchers for food etc! With being on sick pay(very low) since i've been off,she says i could get it so every little helps. Will help with all the car parking fees eveytime i have to go to the hospital and for my post mx bras.

so anyway,i still have to wait to speak to my PS herself to ask my questions, and the nurse is going to try and set that up at a time when i'm not getting a fill,as she is always running behind then and i feel guilty for making her run even later. Bit happier now though,as the nurse is on my side about getting what i want....if i can.

If anyone can comment I noticed today in my pics the fat grafting did not take. I also think it is worse than before. I am wondering if I have CC or maybe my muscle is just attacking the implant on my left side I will take a pic with more detail and post so you all can comment for me.

Kate33 ~ It's nice to talk to someone who seems to be almost the same size.  I don't want to be huge either...just being expanded to 465 makes me feel like a freak, I'm ust to being barely an A cup.  I do hope he is able to space them in a bit more, it would look more natural.  He is a great surgeon and I trust him completely.  He also has his own website and his work is amazing...and he really seems to be excited about what the outcome will be.  I know I'm excited just have my boobs lowered down a bit....no more chin rest!

geneskirt & wippetmom ~ Thank you for your imput.  I think I am going to mention to him to shoot for the 375's.....He is going to try all of them to see what looks best.  His concern is that since I had a NSM he wants to make sure my nipples are centered properly.  He thinks that the 375's might put my nipples to low on the breast.  I'm hoping they work out thought...we shall see :0)  I will check out your pics on the forum when I get access.  I've only been on here for a few days now so it might be a little bit yet....

m-star:  Great PS nurse! She's absolutely right that it's your body and your life and you're the one that has to live with the results!   I'll add that its super easy to get focused mostly about how you want to look because that's the most obvious part of all this, so I'll remind you to think about the other aspects of your choice too - how you want to feel & function, what you want the implants to feel like (in your body and to your hand), and how important an implant's properties and issues profile are to you  given your lifestyle & activities (I think you do karate, right?, which means a lot of punching, and incl getting punched & kicked in the chest...might those suggest a limit on size, cohesiveness, other? I don't know, but your doc might).  There may be give and take because one implant and procedure can't fit everything you want, but at least you & your doc can work to meet your highest priorities.  Regarding the implant that had "McQuan" on the back, are you sure it didn't say "McGhan"?  If the latter, that almost certainly is the Allergan/Inamed 410: it was originally made by McGhan, which was bought by Inamed Corp, which was bought by Allergan.  Even if that's so, don't freak - in the UK I believe they use the Mentor ones too, and the nurse may have just handed you any anatomical that was around not thinking much about which was which.  So follow up on next visit.

Deborah - may you get perfect tattoos today - woohoo for crossing the finish line!!

Dawne-Hope - Definitely ok to postpone a fill.  I postponed one , and my doc did another because of schedule.  It's not a race!

BCincolo-I keep forgetting to say "hang in there" on the lopsidedness.  We uni's have to stick together!  Surprised  I think I look pretty even now w/o surg on my good side because I was so small-breasted to begin with so gravity hasn't taken its toll like on larger breasts (never had kids either).  10 yrs from now I may be singing a different toon but perhaps there'll be some amazing breakthrough where we can grow new breasts from real tissue by then, or at least with less invasive procedures than todays flaps, and we can all get these plastic things out of our chests... I can dream!

I'm a uni too and from the other direction (had to reduce my remaining breast).  ATM the healthy breast is swollen and healing from some very large, nasty bruises; the exchange side, on the other hand, looks perfect!  The reduction breast is also larger, but PS has said it will reduce in size by 30% once the swelling goes down. I am waiting patiently :)  So far I think I see some reduction but left (reduction) breast is still larger... still tender too and somewhat hard to the touch along side and underside (which is odd) but I assume that's to do with the swelling and the removal of tissue (scar tissue forming?) as well.

My only other big SE since my exchange is consistently low red blood count.  My count was 11 prior to surgery and 8 after (about a week after).  Will see my ONC again on Thursday for another blood test and hoping it is on the rise (am feeling less tired and head-achey, so hoping that is a sign of improvement).

Lilah, Thanks always for posting about your experience, as I've followed you closely too.  I do hope your swelling goes down just the right amount.  Patience!  :)  I hope that your RBC count rises to normal as you heal too.  Rest, rest, rest, eat well, and don't worry too much.

Jerusha, perhaps the following is the web page on the "CPG's" that Deborah mentioned that you were looking for?  http://www.mentorcorp.com/global/breast-augmentation/contour-profile-gel.htm (CPG=contour profile gel)

CS~~ AHA! it could have said McGhan!! it was funny style of lettering so couldn't quite tell what it said for sure.was just taking a wild guess. The implant is one thats kept in a bag which the nurses use to show patients si it could quite well be an old implant from a fews yrs ago even.

I looked thru the Allergen catalogue that Deborah put a link to, and i have picked out the ones i'd LIKE, but not sure if i could have them lol. Would be easier if they ARE Allergen that we use, seeing as i've picked them! =) I know what to ask for now. Then she can just tell me if its possible or not.

id like the 410 MX or FX with a MINIMUM 365grams. But im either being expanded to 390ml or 450ml. Not sure which my PS will go for but me and my breast nurse are rooting for the 450! ha ha. Like i've said before,i'm not sure how the ml's relate to the amount in grams. as they have to go smaller with my implant than the TE.

I feel so much better now i have some idea that the implant might be the Allergen~thank you. She won't use the very firm one  so thats a relief.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and was wondering how I go about getting  clearance for the pictures section. Reading through these posts, I can see it has something to do with TinTam, but what do I have to do, and how do I contact her? I'm scheduled for my exchange in July, and really freaking out about having to decide on a size and shape! Pictures would really help. I'll happily share mine when the time comes. Thanks!

    ps

i do tae kwondo but i already decided i wasn't going to fight anymore. I wont even do any sparring. I wont risk getting hit or kicked in th chest after all i been through. My instructors all know my decision and there are still other parts of TKD that i can do. I can still compete but it will just be Patterns and board breaking~no sparring. suits me! never did like getting hit! LOL

This is still something i will raise with my PS though as my training schedule is quite hefty~especially leading up to tournaments~so i need to know the implant wont shift about and distort my shape. If she cannot guarantee that i amy have to go for rounds.  There is no way i am giving up my training. I already hold the English gold title for veteran ladies Patterns and i'm hoping to compete internationally once i get my fitness back up in a year or 2.

how do you add a picture on here?? i dont get how i find the URL of the pic to add it??

    Hi Dawne-Hope

I postponed an expansion once due to pain. My ps had no problem with it, he just said that the final expansion should be done at least 4 weeks before surgery. I'm actually considering having some fluid removed from my expanders. My last expansion was 3 weeks ago and I still feel like I've gone beyond what my muscles will accomodate.  I feel like my TE's are ruining my posture.

    Hello all-

Only two nights (one full day) until my exchange on Wed morn.  Yeah!!!

Thanks to all who posted kind words on the picture forum.  I am not unhappy with the TE's - excepting if you count that they fr*&%$ng hurt.  Oh well, as I have had them in since Jan 12th - two more days will fly by I am sure.

Lee - the picture forum is a different site.  In order to protect privacy of ladies who post and bare all there - it is an informal "directive" that you should have been a member on this site first - and that you post and share somewhat regularly.  It makes sense really.  The goal is to keep the site for its intended purpose - that is to support and encourage one another.  Once you have been around a while - you can gain access by contacting TimTam.

Mandi - I see that you are in Bradenton?  I am in Longboat Key and Facecrafter is in Sarasota.  I used a breast surgeon, plastic surgeon and oncologist here in Sarasota.  Facecrafter went to Tampa to Moffitt.  How about you?  You can reply privately by clicking on the private message tab.

Good luck to all other sisters having surgery, revisions, tats, etc. this week!

Thanks Jaclyn. I understand, and you're right...it makes sense. I must say though...where I was once relatively modest about my body , I will now let women I barely know see and feel my "breasts" !! They don't feel much like a part of me anymore.  Maybe I'll feel differently after my exchange!

Happy Monday evening, ladies!  I'm checking in for the first time since Thursday, as my sweet baby graduated from high school yesterday, so we had a weekend full of family, celebrations, and yes...tears.  I'd already used up the last of my waterproof mascara at my older son's college graduation two weeks earlier!   Boy, do I feel old....
