Suebee: My surgical bra was a mess by the time I could finally take it off! I imagine if you don't have drains and you are in a good support sports bra you should be fine to at least wash the other one.
shortlady: Congratulations on your exchange! It's difficult to remember but I couldn't even pick up a pitcher for about a month. No driving, no lifting, no pulling, no reaching. I surrounded myself with pillows and slept half sleeping up, too. Take care of yourself and heal up. I slept a lot during this time.

ok Ladies got my bra on!! Ha Ha I only wish i could breathe while wearing it !!!! I cannot take a full breath its so tight,i cut off the elastic on the bottom cause im s short wasted and it went about 2 inches below the stitches over my ribs. Thought that would help with the breathing but no still cannot get a breath.I guess i will get use to it,my skin is sooooo indented i look like one of those dogs with all the wrinkles
thanks for getting on me about the bra i always need a good talking to always been a rebel 0 -
Shortlady: Congrats on being on the other side of your exchange! Sorry to hear you had trouble with the anesthesia...I have been there. It's horrible! Geesh, when your PS says "pop" what does he mean? The incision busts open?

MBJ thanks for the vote! I do not have drains and they dont hurt when I shower unless I bend over.
Beacher I had the same thing...I even took my inhaler the second night because I thought I was having an asthma attack once fully reclined in the chair. Its much better after a few days...I think I am getting used to it.

Suebeebc, do you have any other surgical bra you can wear while washing the one you are wearing? I used the first one the PS used on me after my BMX.
Shortlady, congrats on your exchange! Take it easy...the first day I was painfree from the anesthesia and I was running around the house washing dishes, light cleaning, etc. The next morning I awoke to alot of pain and could barely lift myself out of bed. I am still taking it easy and it is now two weeks post exchange. I still feel tired.

beacher.... you and i seem to have all the same stuff going on with recovery. I have the bloat too, but its much better today. I have gotten it after each surgery and it always takes about 3-5 days to go away. Wonder if it has something to do with that breathing tube they stick down your throat during surgery? Whatever, it is uncomforatable, but temporary.
shortlady....congrats on your exchange and hope that nasty anethesia nausea has moved on. Good that you have the summer to heal up and rest up.
Suebee... I'd say wash the surgical bra and use a sports bra for awhile. I ended up with two (both black) since this was my second time around. But I have that zip front sports bra from Walmart that I am going to try using in a few more days.
I am feeling much better this evening. Really no pain Made it all day without a nap, but I am going to bed early.

Beacher I cant be much help. Im going on a 13 hour drive in less than two weeks so I am saving up!!! I have no plans to go anywhere until Wednesday when I get my hair done. I think that will be my first time driving too. My problem is that I have gotten used to my left side doing a lot because it was the unaffected side of MX...now I reach with it first in some cases! Yikes.
Slinky I didnt get a surgical bra the first time...girls on the loose! But I have a plethora of bras I wore since so I could fluff the good side (or mx side...depending on the stage of the TE)
Joan I wish I bought one of those zip front bras when Walmart.com had them...they are not in our local stores either. Grrr

I went to the grocery store today... by myself! But had my DH unload. I have definitely been going for daily walks. How's that? I think walking is fine, let's call it strolling. My DH is tall and long legged and has always had trouble walking at my speed. I hold his hand tight and slow him down.

Tina: I'm not a WalMart fan either, but have treked to 3 different stores in search of the zip front bras. While employees were helpful, there are none to be found in my part of Houston. I've settled for a cotton Fruit of the Loom with hooks & eyes in the front.

Yes i got a walmart bra too with hooks in front. Now i want to find a good spaghetti strap bra to wear with spaghetti strap tops and i want to get some long summer dresses to wear to hide the lbs i have put on in this last year.. all the dress have thin straps. Anyone know of a good one.

Suebee -- Yes wash the bra and wear the sports bra while you're washing the surgical bra. I did that. No harm in it.
Beacher -- ask your PS about massaging. I think it is probably too soon. I am sending you patience

Lilah, I just received your patience i intend on using it thanks

How long do you wear this surgical bra? I'm scheduled for exchange 7/18 and he didn't even metion it to me. What does it look lik? I hope you don't have to wear it too long it sounds uncomfortable!
0 -
Joan - whoa that was ambitious!!! How do you feel today?
Kerry - I have to wear it two weeks 24/7 and then can change to other bras. BUT after the first uncomfortable days I am really liking the snugness of it. Mine looks like a racerback sports bra but with velcro front and shoulder straps. Its fine but bulky
Tina, Beacher, Minustwo - do you think Danskin has stopped making them? You cant seem to get them anywhere except ebay. I had to get the fruit of the loom one too but I dont love it.
I was able to sleep in bed with two extra pillows last night. Not totally restful but progress! Im definitely washing the bra today!

My exchange is coming up on Tuesday. Starting to get very anxious about the potential pain, restrictions....it's all coming back again, flooding my brain...how am I going to take care of the kids, etc., etc. Maybe a long walk is in order.

I know this isn't the bra thread but since the topic came up I found a really nice zip front sports bra at JCPenney. It costs more than walmart but it is very good quality. I wore that after my TE surgery when I could get out of the surgical bra. I am still doing fills but I have almost full motion now so wearing the barely there sports bras that have thinner straps and come in pretty colors.

Kelly how old are your kids? Do you have a husband to help or neighborhood friends? I didnt ask for meal delivery this time but spent a day marinating meats and bagging them in dinner size portions for the freezer, making spaghetti sauce and then planning meals for 3 weeks that my DH could handle....there were a few hamburger helpers, tacos, breakfast for dinner, and take outs thrown in there too. I also stocked up on boost shakes, yogurt and fruit for quick grabs. Mentally I have to let the laundry and cleaning go but we will set up a professional cleaning soon so I dont have to think about it. After that, I would enlist all of your kids' friends' moms to help with playdates for at least the first week!

Hi Suebee just noticed you were on too ,i may hit jc pennys also . Glad you got a better night sleep i have been able to sleep alot better the last 2 nights even on my side !!! Iam a bit concerned about the size of my foobs now,on is ssssoooo much bigger than the other and its the non cancer side that had a lift and smaller implant put in, the ps took off my nipple?areola to raise the skin then sewed it back on. Weird to me i would have thought the nipple?areola would have just slid up with the skin? hmmm also the scar on the non cancer side is underneath the foob ,wich makes sense cause it could be hidden better where the stomach and foob meet ,but this scar is about3/4 inch up from there never can hide that, even if they eventually flopped a bit. So i see him tomorrow and unless he can explain the reason for this incision im going to ask for a revision in time ,but not this summer!

Beacher I JUST got out of the shower and I agree that my non-cancer side - the augmented side - is decidedly bigger than the other one. I am not passing judgement at all until they are dropped and fluffed. I am sure it is due to swelling and the fact that the right muscle and skin were already expanded before the exchange so the implant can lie more comfortably. Looking back a week ago, my the photo I took makes the cancer side look bigger than the non cancer side so I am sure this is the magical dance that they will go through as they morph into what will be.
Youre lucky you see your PS tomorrow. Id love a status update. My cancer side incision looks awesome to me. The other one looks good but not as good as the other. I would love a professional to tell me everything is OK! Im not moving now as my bra is spinning in the wash. My girls are missing how tight the surgical bra is already!

Sue and Beacher -- hopefully its just swelling on the non-cancer side. An augmentation means there is still plenty of breast tissue and all that cutting leads to swelling. With all that tissue still there (as opposed to the cancer side) there is going to be far more swelling in that native breast. I know with my reduction the non-cancer side was much bigger than the implant side for a few months.

I had my exchange March 30 and always loved my new boobs right from the beginning. But, one was really huge compared to the other (after surgery). I was a bit worried but my PS told me to relax (at my follow-up app. about 3 days after exchange) and that things were swollen and tissue inside was complaining about him being in there. He told me to wear a push-up bra but take out the padding on the smaller side and it would even me up while I waited for the swelling to go down. He said it could take months. Well, I did what he said and I always looked even and proportioned in tight clothes.
Fast forward to yesterday and saw my PS again. Things are looking good! One side has dropped and fluffed and is absolutely beautiful. The other--well, not as pretty. Still a bit hard and hasn't dropped as much. PS tells me not to worry, sometimes it takes time and that patience is my friend. He tells me to keep wearing the bras (to look even) and he'll see me again in 6 months. My husband says he can't tell the difference between the two breasts. I know I'm being the picky one but still, I absolutely love these new boobs! Even if they stay exactly how they are right now I will be happy.
Oh, went out bikini shopping (live in Southern California) and my jaw almost dropped when I saw myself in one! I bought a couple and modeled them for my husband and he said I couldn't go out of the house wearing those! He made me laugh and also made me feel good about myself. It's been a long time since I've felt sexy and attractive.
Went and had my blood work done and have my Onc appointment on Thursday. Hopefully cancer isn't back. I hate the Onc. visits...makes me edgy and stressed until I hear results. But in the meantime--I HAVE GREAT LOOKING BOOBS!
