Hey Sprtwareor.  Did you go to a C?  Cause I'm a bit worried about the under the boob stuff too.  I'm a golfer and not liking the feeling of this at all.

Mary it sounds like your PS had to do some pocket work so that might be why you have a little more discomfort than what you were expecting.  I hope soon it will get better for you.

Todays a good day for several gals so I'm very happy

Tomorrow I'm seeing my PS for a post opt visit of my nip @ 4:00

I'm meeting my friend Kim for lunch @ 12:30.  I'm so happy that her last scan came back well.

Tommorrow night @ 6:00 there is a BC meeting so I may just stay in Dubuque the whole day

Maybe it will be nice out and I could see if one of my biking friends would want to do a afternoon walk or just chat.  If not I guess I could always shop.

Oh Jax, my heart is hurting for you.  It is so unfair!! I know exactly how you feel finding a new opening.  Wishing I knew what to say other than hang in there...is just has to get better.  Mine took 4 months to the day to heal and I'm just praying hard that it finally has healed for good.  Praying for you girl friend!

Mary - Wishing things were better for you too!  It is still early so hopefully things will settle into place and feel more comfortable. (((((((((((((Mary))))))))))))

Oh Marilyn- One more girl on the path to softness!!!!  Soooooo happy for you!  Rest and recover and keep us posted!!!

Sandy - you are a true friend indeed!!  Selling quick peeks on the street!!! LOL!!! You are a nut!!  Love it!

GG - Congrats!  Drive through foobs is the way to go!  In and out...the less time you spend in the hospital the less chance you have of getting something else. (I'm a jaded hospital employee, lol)

    Sandy,

Thanks for the video.  I work for the federal goverment and tomorrow we will be walking over to the air strip to welcome another Marine killed in action home for burial.  It has only been a couple of weeks since we lined up to welcome another soldiers casket.

While at work today, we said our goodbyes to a co-worker that was leaving for Iraq tonight.    Saying thank you is such a simple act when they are giving up so much.  Saying it in sign is a great way to silently acknowledge gratitude. Thank you.

Thinking of all the surgery ladies today -- good luck and great results to all of you!

Sandy, I had a dream last night that I was in DBQ and I drove down to meet you and Linda in Maquoketa for some kind of run or walk. My sister, aunt and uncle were all at my mom's in DBQ for Easter, so I must have been thinking about that along with you two! Good luck with your PS appt today! Mine is today too. I need to ask him about protection for my nips. Although I'm on the other side of the fence from you -- I don't want them at attention all the time. :)

Hope everyone's surgeries go well today!! Happy Healing to those who had theirs yesterday ... I'm quite a ways off from mine, still have 3 fills to go and then my PS wants them to sit for 8 weeks before my exchage ... so I'll likely have surgery in July.  Ah well ... I've already had a dream about my exchange surgery!  Thought I'd share it since it was rather funny ... I dreamt that when I woke up, the first thing I did was wake up and feel my chest which was as hard as ever with the TEs still there!!!  Then I realized that I only had 4 front teeth on the top, and 4 front teeth on the bottom -- all the rest of my teeth had been pulled!!!  I was furious and started yelling at everybody - that they'd done the wrong surgery!!  Imagine my relief when I woke up  and realized I still had my teeth ...... where do those dreams come from?  :)

I keep bumping my chest into walls when I go in and out of doorways and turn the corner too tightly ... not used to the 500 CCs size yet in these expanders!  I'm still struggling with sleeping since my last fill - haven't had a good night's rest yet, even with pain pills and sleeping pills!   And I go in for another fill on Thursday ... guess it's all part of this wonderful recon process.
    Take care everyone!!

Sheila I think Sue got you beat on the weird dream.

I had a pix come in my mind that Sue used lip stick on her face with arrows pointing to her breast so they don't work on her mouth lol

Sue I hope the feeling gets better

Sheila if you just want a little protection on the pix forum I saw a gal use callus cushions stacked up to give a little protection

    She used 3

From her last pix it looks like they still almost went flat

Sort of sad to go through all of this and have that happen

I had a friend e-mail me that said she knew of someone that had the surgery 3 times and it didn't work.

    I hope everyone has a great day : - )

Thanks Rockwell, Yvonne.  Hey any advise on the nips side.  I'm hoping these implants settle down so I don't feel so full of em.

Hope anyone that is going through the first phases of this journey is reading this blog...it has helped me out sooooo much to know others have the same fears and concerns.

    God is Good!

I was wondering how everyone is being screened  for cancer after a bilateral mastectomy.  I go in every 3 months for a blood test called a 27/29.  Is this a common thing? Should I be doing anything else?  How else does do you girls get screened?

Hi everybody!  I've been gone for a few days, so it will take me awhile to catch up.  Can't wait to hear everyone's results from surgery today.  I've been holding my breath that I can still go through with mine tomorrow.  My throat has been very sore since Saturday, but I've been pumping the Zicam and taking my temp.  So far, so good.  They said as long as I'm not running a temperature, I can go ahead with surgery.

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!

Laura - I'm so glad you're done with rads! Yippee! Wish we could all throw a party for you!

All this week's girls, I hope your surgeries are easy and your new foobs are soft....

I just saw my PS yesterday, and he pronounced me ready for my third (hopefully final) surgery:  a fipple for the new girl, and a lift/exchange on the other side.  I've been anxiously awaiting this, but now that it's time to schedule, I'm afraid I'm getting cold feet! Why? Sure, Barbie has been a star for 50 years with no nipples, but her girls are the same, and mine are not.  I've always wished I could be the same on both sides (be careful what you wish for, you may get it?!), and here is my chance, and the insurance will pay for it, so I'm not sure why I'm hesitating. Is the lift and implant on the "good" side painful? (I have a 800cc implant on the cancer side, and PS says he'll use 400-450ccs in the OR for the "good" side, depending on what looks best). Those who have done either or both, are you happy? Any and all input is most welcome. Help! Embarassed

I'm 4 weeks out from an exchange on my left cancer side and lift/implant on my "good" side.  I agonized over the decision whether or not to touch the good side, but in the end, I just went for it.  I spent the whole tissue expansion phase hiding behind a scarf and big shirts to camoflouge the difference between my 2 breasts, and I didn't want to be so self-conscious for the rest of my life.

The lift was painful, but certainly not intolerably so, and I am very glad I did it.  My 2 sides match now, and the "good" side is no longer hanging where it used to.  I'm really having trouble adjusting to these new bigger breasts (I was a small A, now I'm a full C), but my husband is absolutely crazy about them.  Once I do get used to them, I'm sure I'll be happy.

    Best of luck.

    Cathee:

After hearing from other women who had bi lat tell me that they had no follow up, i was really surprised when my B/S told me that i would continue to be monitored for breast cancer as part of the high risk survivor program. In addition to the ovarian surveillance which I have, I will be seen every 6 months, I just had my bi lat 3/9/09 so I don't know what the exams will be, other than blood work and a physical breast exam, But I was very relieved to know there would be follow up, after listening to all the disclaimers that the doctors disclose and since I had skin/nip sparing.

Cathee it depends what type of cancer you have and the stage you have on what type of further test they choose are needed

For me early breat cancer the only thing I get some is the complete blood work test and physical exam

Since I still have 1 healthy breast they plan to do a MRI or mamo every 6 months I think

I've never had any type of scans done as some have had.

I've had the lift and small implant on my healthy side and glad I've done it.  The lift does give a little pain but it's way easier than the mastectomy.  If your nevous about getting them to match ask your PS if he could use the exbandable implant.  That's what I had.  They can add or take out saline.  Than when your sure your happy with the size they can just remove the port and the implant seals.  I just had my port removed last Thur when I got my nipple on my cancer side.
