    mahometmom62,

I think some of us feel an emotional let down after the implants.  Looks like the DIEP girls also go thru this.  We plan, worry, prepare and have very high expectations.  (I remember feeling sad after Christmas when I was a kid and it was all over, all the excitement and planning, gone in a day).  Hopefully your swelling will improve, they say it takes time.  I must say I am happier at 2 months than I was immediately after exchange.  I am having lipo, fat grafting and nips at the end of the month, happy my PS is willing to go for the best results possible.  I am a bilateral and maybe this makes it easier for symmetry.  Hope this helps.

    Christine,

I also had 6 pounder DD's and I was so glad to get rid of them.  I look like a C but don't have to wear bras anymore.  I'm also doing nipple's in Oct or Nov.  My PS has a new procedure where he does liposuction for the nipples.  He also said it would be a slight elevation of nips that would not be showing through my tops.  I was going to do 3D tattoos until he told me that I won't need to go under anesthesia again for this process.

Not upset with the Barbie look, but it would look a bit more natural with nipples.  Good Luck to all with finishing touches.

    Lindsey update:

She has been to the plastic surgeon, viewed and wrapped back up again.  She is still having lots of pain and nausea.  Had a killer migraine for a couple of days due to tension in upper back and neck muscles - almost ended up in hospital. 3 drains and she is wrapped up like a mummy.

Her DH is supervising her 15 pills a day and she is up to finding herself allergic to 10 different medications.

Time is spent dozing on and off in bed with kitty at her side and DH always near.

I think the roughest thing for her is this feels for her just like what she went through when she had the DMX with filler implants placed, so right now she isn't feeling like she has gained anything.

I know she would appreciate all of your positive energy, prayers, thoughts and candles lit for her.

DH is feeling each ache and pain with her.

Justagirl. I read your story it reminds me alot of myself I am healing from implants and having a low day. Tears with my husband this am he says he does not mind helping me take a shower or helping with the house the cancer is gone and soon you will be recovered from implant surgery. And we keep moving forward. I hope he is right. And like you say how much can he take. ;). I have a 12 year old and 13 year old boys who I love with every breath. I dont want them to know how sad I can feel. Thanks for listening. I don't know Lindsay or her story but good juju her way.

Lindsey needs all the good juju she can get about now!

I always try to remember when I have a low, low, low day that there will be tomorrow, and I can start fresh and just try for a better one.

I know my husband would do anything he could for me, either before BC or now.  When I get mad and mis-behave and then I tell him I'm sorry for acting like such a bitchy-witch he says Love means never having to say you're sorry.  Hmmm, he is not a soppy or sentimental guy but he really meant this.  He came out with that one the night I sat in the dark in the corner of the kitchen on the cold tile floor with the dishwasher banging away next to me.  Tears pouring down my face and my dog - Jaki sitting close and licking my tears as they fell.

With my 17 year old son, I don't want him to see this, but he has, and maybe it's not so bad as it lets him know it's okay to cry and you can come out of it.  It's okay to be sad.

I think a lot of my emotional stuff come from taking the anti-hormone drug Femara too.

    Take care mahometmom62......

ibcmets:  Do you mean your PS puts fat under the areola for projection?

I think after exchange we all have a bit of sadness due to anesthesia and also due to the fact that this is it for most of us.  Maybe our surgeries are all done but we have been so busy with dr appointments and treatment and surgeries that we really haven't taken the time to process our emotions.  I think this is when the real healing starts and it takes time!  Big hugs to all of you going through this stage and know that it does get easier with time.

You all are the best!! I don't know who I would go to talk to people who get it. I got a call fromPS to come in and check swelling. So I went everything is good and they took the drain out!!!! Yay the mx side is still sore due to pocket work and scar tissue being removed. But aaahh it feels so much better. And a better surgical bra too. I thank you all and wish us all the best By the way I wanted to change avatar and I deleted mine. But it won't let me add a new one. Any ideas?

Had my exchange surgery today.  Everthing went well, except I forgot they could not put an IV in my hand or my arm due to them taking out lymph nodes.  The nurse was going to put it in my foot but she was having trouble spotting a vein.  Just then my anesthesiologist comes and says he wants to put it in my neck because it would be alot less painful for me.  A doctor has to be the one to do that so he started ordering everyone around to get him the right equipment and a portable US machine to check my veins.  I have to say it wasn't too bad.  It pinched a little but from what I hear it was way better than having it put in my foot.  Someone was watching over me.  Even the nurse said what incredible timing that was.  I had to stay in recovery a little longer just so they could watch over me when they pulled it out but everything has been fine.  I  have been taking my pain meds and it has been manageable.  The only real problem is when I shift position or get up.  That is when the wave of pain hits but it settles down.  I hope my surgery buddy Minus Two is doing well.  Good health to all of you!!

CorinneM1 - Yay!  Sounds like things went smoothly and so far you're pleased.  You're already going for a bra fitting?  You must not have very much swelling!  I have another post-exchange appointment at 5 weeks post-op and was told to hold off on bra shopping until at least then...

KY_Vickie - You sound very happy as well.  I hope it continues to be smooth sailing for you!!!

    Good Morning Ladies,

My name is Lisa. I am new to this thread.  I had my right affrecyed breast removed last Novenbember 4 with a start of reconstruction with TE. I then went throgh 16 weeks, 8 rounds of chemo.  My last round of chemo was 3//11. Since I am triple negative and BRACCA 2 positive I decided to have my left breast removed and replaced with TE.  I aso had a hysterctomy a the same time.  I then finally had my tissue exchange surgery on Aug,1. I had silicone implants placed.  I just went in to see my PS yesterday for a check up and to schedule my nipple grafting and he notced as did I, that my right silicone breast was hanging lower than my left   He said "I'm a perfectionist", I would like to replace that .  So now I need yet another surgery!!!!  He can't schedule me until Nov. 7. I was so upset.  This all happened yesterday...the same day I found out all of my blood work came back normal after my three month follow up with my onc. I know I should be happy about being NED but having to wait until Nov. to fix my implant is somewhat disappointing.

I guess I just want all of this to be over with!!!  Thanks for listening to me rant:)

    Take Care,

    Lisa

Exchange yesterday went very well!!! I checked in to outpatient surgery @ 0630 and was discharged before 1130!!! I'm tightly wrapped and am trying to muster up the courage to get a shower. Last night I slept OK with the help of percocet..I can definitely tell a difference in the softness of the implants. I had Natrelle implants put in...500cc on the left side (cancer side) and 550cc on the right. I was quite excited because my PS said he wouln't be able to make me any bigger than what I was expanded out to, but he did!! I was a small "B" before and I am hopefully looking at a size "C" now!!

Did anyone have nipples done?? I want them, and my PS said there's enough skin to do them but I have to wait 8 more weeks I think?

Congrats to everyone on their exchanges!! drdolittle: I am so happy that everything is going as you want it!!

Lisa:  So sorry you have to have a re-do, but be glad your PS is a perfectionist-so many will just leave you like that.  I am now two years out and just had my tattoo for my nipple & grafted areola.  Can't wait to see what it's going to look like after it heals.

    soccermom & mom2one:  Congratulations!!!

TinaT, I know my PS sounds loosey-goosey... but I think he is just really good or my body is just adjusting well.  Not a lot of swelling, they don't hurt at all. I little brusing around the incisions, but that is about it.  He told me bra, no bra whatever. Up to me.  I could continue to go without as I am used to just wearing camis now since my BMX in June, but I think I would like to have at least a couple pretty bras in my drawer.

Anyone who had exchange I have question. 6 days out I am more sore on mx side than good side. Back is stiff too. It hurts under my inframamory fold both sides. One has the incision and the mx he had to lower it. Driving was a bit difficult. Does this sound on course?

Mahomet -- 6 days is not very long out of surgery and it sounds like your PS did a lot of pocket work.  I myself tried to drive after a week post-surgery and almost passed out it was so exhausting.  I say give yourself another week.  It takes longer than that to really heal of course but you should be less sore by then.

Lisa -- sorry about the revision but sounds like a great PS and, really, Nov 7 will be here before you know it!  Long term you will be glad he addressed the issue now.  Also -- what does "affrecyed" mean?  (Or is that just some weird auto-correct typo?)

I still have my attention on that massage video.  Now squishy to me is when you push down on something and it goes down then comes back out.  That video looks like you push and the whole boob kind of runs away.  Does that mean when DH get's frisky that he is going to have to chase the boobs around my chest to try to get a good grope?  I mean can you grope the foobs and when you do, do they kind of pop back from where they came?  Other wise I think I may be laughing too hard and for some reason my DH seems to get a bit upset if I laugh too much while being romanced.

Very excited for everyone who had their exchanges, I hope all heal well and have lot's of satisfaction with their new foobs.

I will be having my exchange this Friday and I have been nervous for weeks but now I just can't wait.  I can't wait.  I can't wait.  I can't wait.

    MBJ:

Yes, I believe if I understood correctly that my PS will be doing lipo for the areola area, not fat grafting.  Not sure if this includes nips but I know I wont' have to go under anesthesia.  will post more when I get this done in Nov.

Well it's 3 weeks now post exchange and my right breast is still swollen and very, very tender under the breast where it meets the front ribs. The small bump in the bottom of the breast is also still there and it "crinkles" when i touch it. When I don't have a bra on the breast feels heavy and the pulling down causes it to hurt more. A sports bra helps but only for a short time then I feel like I have to rip it off fast. Ice still continues to be my friend. I see my PS next week. He's mentioned fat grafting later on  but I've had it with surgery.I can't wait to just walk away from all these doctors.I actually have appointments on Monday,Wednesday, and Friday next week. How am I ever going to fit in my tennis schedule???
