Posted also on another thread but looking for info.....Freaking out here tonight! I had my exchange surgery from TEs to silicone last Thursday. Tonight, leftie is red, a bit warm and firm to the touch, not soft at all like the right one. I will go in tomorrow to see another doc in office as mine is in surgery tomorrow. I've been so forunate with all of these procedures and healing up nicely. I am really scared tonight.

Carrol, good to hear they change as weeks go on.

Its almost 3 weeks since my exchange & they look pretty good but still kind of hard. PS said massage helps with this, but im a nervous wreck about feeling them. Did any of you do this and how often?

This is probably wierd, but at about 2 years post exchange, I noticed that one of my bras felt tight in the cups and didn't look as good. I ended up going up a cup size in that style (the larger cup originally had too much fabric at the nipple area) - went from D to DD and look and feel much better. I have saline 960cc Moderate Profile Plus. I think that over the two years, despite alloderm repairs and replacement right implant, that the pec muscles have relaxed enough and allowed greater projection. Does this make sense to anyone?

Hi there....it does get waaayyyy better.  The exchange is far better than the initial MX.  For most of us, you will find that it was not that bad of a recovery.  The foobs feels much better than the TE's and yes, they become normal in feel...in touch...unlike the hard TE's. So, be patient & keep your spirits high.  You're almost there!

    Hi Deliahbear!

I remember you...   I have to agree with you on that...the ever so slight changes for...the better.  My MX seems to fill in the void of my bras better.  Maybe it's my imagination but why not imagine!

halley12 i can move my foobs with my pec muscles independently it's kind of weird but strippers do it all the time lol

shore1 my PS told me to massage them 5x a day. he said that will improve how they look.

beachy I agree with everyone call someone right away. You don't want to risk anything  that could ahve been avoided with prompt treatment. Your doctor should have an emergency number or a docotr on call for him when he is not available.

Ladies for all waiting to get the exchange mine was way easier than my other two surgeries (bmx and dleayed TE placement) . I was up and was moving around right away when I woke up.  There was a delay to get to my room from recovery and I got hungry and had them bring me lunch there, which is a good sign. I had a little soreness for about a week tops then I felt fine, jsut a little tired for another week.

Hi  Today is 1  week from the TE exchange to silicone, and the breast reduction and lift on other boob.  It is MUCH more comfortable than the TE which kind of rubbed.  I still have a little post surgical  pain but generally just take Advil if I need to. I hope that will go away.  Process was much easier than the mastectomy, no drainage bottles to deal with  and very little pain.  I even drove yesterday and no problem although I would advise not taking any long trips right away.  I am tired though.    I had a 3 hour surgery cause of reduction but depending on the job I would think I could work in a few more days. I have tried to lift and that does not feel good.   My concern is taking my big  labrador dog for a walk?  Concerned that he will pull and that might not be good.  Ideas welcommed on that.  My dog is currently at another home with other dogs.  Has anyone gotten a nipple tatoo or had a fake nipple constucted?  Would welcome input on that too.  Good luck to all of you with upcoming surgeries.  I feel a whole lot better with this out of the way.

    Hi Ladies,

I did call the office last night and spoke with a dr. He called my dr. and she said to be at the office at 10:00 a.m. and someone would check me. My ps was in surgery all day today so I couldn't see her. They took a look and told me yes it was a little red but nothing that I should be alarmed about. There is more swelling on the left than the right, so it does appear bigger. Couldn't have received better news! I will go back tomorrow for my regularly scheduled post op appointment for the big nipple reveal! Can't wait to see what's under these cauliflower like things stiched on my skin...

Thank you so much for your responses and concern, truly a help in these times! Why do we always fear the worst...my mind just raced away with it.

    Love to you all!

Serinitywisdom.. I, too, am getting a lift/reduction on 1 side. My exchange is scheduled for 6/19 and I am sooo ready. It has been a year with the te. Do you think you are going to match well? I am a little nervous about the whole thing.

Carrol, 5 times a day how long? Seems like I am feeling myself up all day. Even did it at a red light the other day & was then hoping the little camera on the traffic light didn't catch it.

ajones120961 - I believe it is possible to have DIEP if you are unhappy with your implants.  That's a good question!

lol shore1 I jsut do it quick just a few sqeezes to push them up in the pocket and a few to push them together. You just want to keep it moving around. I can't really do it with my bra on. I do it when I get up, in the shower, and then every time I go to the bathroom.

Carrol2- do you have any pucking with your implants? I notice when I lean over after showering they are all puckered up..it grosses me out..lol! My PS said there is extra skin so he can make the nips and they will be tighter and less puckery after that..I dont know if I want nips though..

I can move my implants by contracting my pecs also..its very weird!

kelley no I dont think I have any puckering. It's been 7 months now since the exchange and mostly I have noticed that they dropped and got rounder. I had delayed reconstruction after a skin sparing bmx. After my bmx I was very puckered and kind of curled in. My PS and I worked to get as close to the size I had as possible, which was a 34DD, so now I gained 30 pounds and I am a 36D. So we stretched whatever skin I had as far as it would go. I am getting the skate flap surgery for my nipples still waiting for medicaid to approve it. All my skin looks pretty smoothe except under my non cancer side where he still has to remove some tissue to make them even. Plus I will be getting some lip on my sides.

Yeah I can make my impalnts dance too . . .

thanks Carrol- I am smaller than I was..about a 36 c my implants are about 533 cc's.  I notice on the right side it has dropped and settled and I can see the upper border of the implant..the left is tight as I am still doing radiation.. I guess I am being critical as everyone says they look great..but I dont like the puckering at all

    Kelley,

I am nearly 3 yrs out & I had puckering the first year.  Now..much better.  Yes, it does looks & feels strange when the pecs contract but that settles down too.

Those who are awaiting exchanges...you'll all do great!

kelleysgroi - When you say you have puckers do you mean ripples?  It's only when you get out of the shower?

TinaT..yes ripples I guess..when I bend over especially. Just looking in the mirror they are not visible, but when I am drying off after the shower bending over the implant looks all rippley and puckery..I wish I could think of something similar to compare it to..

kelleysgroi - Ripples, unfortunately, are quite common with implants.  They do tend to look worse when bending over.  They can be caused by the type of implant (saline ripples more than silicone), thin skin, etc.  Fat grafting, addition of Alloderm or other matrix material to thicken the skin, and even revision to adjust implant pockets or the implant size are some possible solutions that you can discuss with your PS.

You can check some other threads such as "Implant Sizing 101" or type "implant ripples" into the search box at the top of the screen.  There are also photos and many discussions about ripples on the picture forum, which is a totally separate and privately moderated site.  Contact Lilah, Dawne Hope, or firni to inquire about access.

    Sorry you have ripples Undecided
