Throughout this whole breast cancer business, people have said some really stupid things to me, I'm sure to you all too. I usually ignore it and move on. There is one statement that keeps coming up. Especially after my exchange.... I am struggling with not coming up with a snotty comeback. Here it is..... "well at least you got some nice new boobs out of this"

Any advice on how to handle this one.....or maybe some suggestions for snotty comebacks?

I'm sorry, Jodi.  Folks say things.  They don't always think about the effect their words have on the person they're speaking to, and generally I don't think they're out to hurt you.

I've been very open about what's going on for me, and have heard similar things.  I've still got TEs so people tend to say stuff as I'm getting bigger.  "How big does your husband want you to go?"  "Are you going to look like a stripper at the end of this?"  I just take it with a grain of salt and laugh.  If someone told me I had some nice boobs, I guess I'd just say thank you with a smile and leave an uncomfortable silence behind.

Jodi I joke with a couple of friends about the new girls, but they get it. They understand that it wasn't anything I would have chosen.

For other people I would give them a snotty comeback...something like, "trust me it wasn't worth it".

I think the rudest thing someone has said to me was if I was going to get new ones I would have gotten them much bigger.  Gee I went from a 32AA to a 32D, how big do I really need to be

how about.."would you like my diagnosis too???"  oddly enough, my middle sister (I am the oldest girl) said something similar to me and it truly irked me.  my little sister got implants a year ago of her choice..she was tiny A..or as she says she just had mosquito bites.  She looks great now.  So now through all of this I will have new boobs..and she made some comment about how we both got new boobs, and she has nothing..or something like that.. Boy I heated up in a minute and said i would love to not have to go through all this and be in this position; and I wouldn't wish it for any woman..so think about that before you open your mouth...!  Now i probably would not have said that to a stranger..but if I hear a comment, I would say that it came with the diagnosis and leave it like that.  I can say that since diagnosis I look at everyone a little bit differently and have much more compassion for what someone may be going through despite appearances.  A lot of women do have augmentation, but I will NEVER pre judge again...  :)

My TEs are pretty big now at 500cc and I appear large and am not wearing sweatshirt today..so, we'll see..I am self conscious about them, but mostly because they are WIDE.  On a lovely note..I just realized that my company is closed on Monday for Presidents Day!  Yay!!!

    Have a good day!

Hello Ladies - Any recent exchanges having any issues with their new foobs?  Everything was going along well and then this morning all kinds of pain and soreness and rightly looks like it is moving in the wrong direct into the divet in my armpit.  I fell like it somehow popped out of the pocket.  I haven't felt this kind of pain since the TEs got removed.

Called the PS - he is in surgery all day but his nurse who I trust thought that maybe I just over did it yesterday.  I can't imagine how; I work at a desk.  My boss sent home from work and am on heavy pain killers again.  Nap time is just around the corner.  If anything changes for the worse I'm to call the PS on his cell...  Anyone have any similar issues?  A lot me hopes not - I want everyone who gets to this point to just be better.

So bummed.  Felt like things were finally going forward.

Dulcigirl: Good to know (re: 'hard as rocks'). I've had a couple of nights sleeping in bed with my hubby but mostly it's been the sofa.  I can be almost 100% on my side but it allows me to lean just a bit into the back to be comfortable.

I'm willing to do the 'hard as rocks' thing if that's what i have to do to get close to what I had before.  BC sucks but in all honesty I am ever so grateful for the reconstruction opportunity.  It's also a pain in the a** but, for me at least, having a nice looking set of girls is part of what will make me feel like 'me' again and that's more than worth it.

Congratulations to all those who crossed over to the Squishy Side this week!

Drop and Fluff for me took.... well, til now, really.

Had my Exchange in August 2012. In the pics we took right after surgery, I looked even worse than I did with TEs in - there was so much swelling and Lefty looked like a small animal crawling over my shoulder. Righty was o.k., but not a Baywatch Boob, if you get my drift...

And both boobs were really bizarrely shaped. Lefty was almost square, and Righty had a weird diagonal line to the IMF. I was disappointed, but I knew enough from reading on BCO that these things take time.

Unfortunately, I had a PS who just kept saying that - "give it time" - and not recommending anything else. Even the LE therapist at the hospital started treating me for LE, even though she didn't believe I had it. She just didn't have any other options that she could think of. Yell

But I can say that finally - almost six months later - my New Girls are perfectly placed, symmetrical, and very soft, yet still perky. (Thanks to my new Myofascial Therapist!!!)

I'm 5'5" tall, weigh 144 pounds, and my chest measurement is 32". I got Allergan Natrelle High Profile Smooth Saline implants #68HP-700s, filled exactly to 700 ccs. I think they're the perfect size for me.

Hang in there, Ladies!!! But remember, there's a fine line between being realistically patient, and when it's time, being realistically assertive in communicating your concerns to your doc.

Hi ladies was wondering how much swelling you all had and when it started to go down. I am 3 weeks out from my exchange, but I still have swelling in my IMF, or at least I hope. My PS did have to move my fold down some so I am hoping that it is just swelling and not my fold not holding. Any ideas? Thanks!

How do I know if it is post-surgical swelling...or if it's that extra 100cc's????

Did you all have swelling in the upper pole? (Please say yes.)

    Yay, Sherry!!!

And thanks Cindy. I didn't want a lot of upper pole and right now I have quite a bit. I will stop hovering and let time do its thing! (Ok. I will TRY not to hover...)

Oh please I study them daily! I have hovering down to an art form. I have a spot on lefty where I can feel the implant...maybe the size of a finger nail, the outer edge. That's new so I know they are starting to move and drop, ever so slightly.

Righty has more upper pole, than lefty. Lefty is better in that regard. But lefty is more swollen so right has better shape right now. I'm OBSESSED.

I don't want to sound like an idiot but once in a while an acronym is used that I haven't figured out......what does IMF stand for?

    Thanks!

Others have had it that way. Maybe they'll see this and chime in.

mrenee68 - I would say that most of my post-surgical swelling was gone in a month or so, except for that huge area in my upper left pole. That took almost six months, and some professional intervention.

CindyLooWho - Easy answer. I went the saline route, because my PS uses ONLY saline implants! Wink

Dulcigirl - probably a bit of both - post-surgical swelling and that extra oomph!

And yes, had LOTS of upper pole swelling!!! I think that's what made them look so distorted in the beginning.  Now I can see that the PS actually created a nice dissection of the pockets, both above and below the implants. I don't have a step-off, but you can definitely tell where my chest stops and my implants start. It's a smooth transition, though...

DULCIGIRL and CindyLooWho ....my upper poles stayed swollen for almost 3 weeks. At least I think it was swelling... I am 4 weeks out and they are just now dropping and settling in....and feel so much softer.

Hang in there girls. The hard part is behind you.

DULCIGIRL.....love your comeback. Another person said to me today "at least you'll have perky breasts." I've never had a comeback but I am storing yours for future comments. :)

Huge apology! Can I blame it on the drugs? When someone asked what my TE's were filled to I wrote the wrong numbers! I have no idea where I got those except that I knew they were 50 apart and even numbers make more sense to me.

My TE's were actually 610 on righty and 660 on lefty.

The rest of my numbers should be correct.

What can I say? English Major...you do the math!

I was in surgical bra. But she said I didn't need to wear anything if I was more comfortable without. Her only rule was no underwires.
