Yay for no pain! I am not numb anywhere except some at the bottom and lower sides. I think the contraction must pull on the incisions.

This is the first day I haven't gone anywhere since my exchange (Wed.), and I am going a bit stir crazy. I know I will be ready to go back to work before I am allowed.

Cheryl, at my 1 week post surgery he released me from any restrictions. Told me to wear some kind of bra for 2 weeks and after that I could do whatever I wanted. Bra, no bra and never specified underwire or not. That just goes to show everybody how each case is so different, even though we have the same PS. I did get an underwire because I felt like I needed the support but I usually take it off when I get home and around the house on the weekends.

My big day is almost here! Getting a new boob on the left and a refurbished one on the right! I'm excited and very nervous about how they are going to turn out. Two hour surgery, then recovery and home. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Thanks for all the information here. It's really helped me to remain optimistic!!

Di2012:  hahaha.....yes, we did see Orient Beach Tongue Out as part of an island tour and we did walk down and back, but we were fully clothed Laughing.  I wasn't the least bit embarassed but I think my hubby is going to need therapy Embarassed.  'Things' certainly do come in all shapes and sizes, huh?

I didn't have tan lines before we went because I go sans clothing to the tanning salon.  I thought I was pretty tan before we left but wow did I brown up.  My hubby took a really nice picture of me by the pool in my swimsuit that I think I'll use for my profile photo here (if I can figure out how).

Weather was gorgeous!  We shoveled a bit of snow early, early morning before we left so it was awesome to hit the tropics, but not so wonderful to come back to temps in the 20s Frown.

So, we soaked up lot of sun, we shopped, we kayaked, we hiked the 'mountain' at Loterie Farms - 3 hours - (wanted to zip line but didn't have the proper footwear), we ate, we drank, we spent an entire day on a catamaran cruise around the island with food, drink, swimming and snorkeling (my personal pick day).

And my husband surprised me poolside with a beautiful blue diamond ring on Friday morning!  Made me cry, dammit.  I started bawling as soon as he pulled the box out of his pocket and don't really even remember his little speech...lol!  Something about loving me and this being a token of appreciation for putting up with him for 30 years or something like that :).  I guess that better be my pick day and the catamaran day pick #2, huh?

Our friends Greg and Janiece were in on the plan all week.  Hubby shopped at the resort jewelry store and I was totally clueless.  I mean, good grief, it's right by the pool, how could I miss that!  Janiece very casually quizzed me all week without me realizing what she was up to.  Things like 'Does Avon have rings?' (in addition to my full-time job I've also been an 'Avon Lady' for nearly 30 years).  I even good-naturedly chewed her out because she apparently wasn't looking at the Avon brochures I give her every 2 weeks Laughingif she didn't know they have rings!

It was a lovely, lovely time and all the more appreciated because when I was diagnosed a few weeks after booking the trip I was certain we would need to cancel it because of BC.  Instead my BS told me we would 'absolutely NOT!' have to cancel the trip.  Instead of being miserable I felt great, looked great in a swimsuit (even with TE's), and even found out that apparently I CAN sleep in a normal bed without discomfort!  You really don't have much choice when you're in a hotel room.  So I guess my sofa-sleeping has just gotten to be a habit instead of the necessity I thought it was.  I can do side sleeping pretty well, but still no stomach stuff.

Enough about me.......I'm so excited for the exchange ladies from last week!  Cheryl_e, Brownlee, Hwranch.....hope all is going well and any/all discomfort has eased up.  I start over-filling this week Thursday and am still not sure when my exchange will be so I'm kinda jealous.  I'll just continue being patient and not dwelling on things.  Enjoy your new squishies!

    Love to all!

Lisa (aka sweetandspecial), what a wonderful story that brought tears to my eyes! So glad you got to take your trip. It represents so much more than just a good time away. You are well loved, and that was really sweet of your hubby. My hubby and I will also be married 30 years this December. Look forward to seeing your pic!

    Sweetandspecial,

Yes Orient beach give one a lot to look at!!!....most that were  undress (when I was there) NEEDED to be with the exception of a few ladies with lovely figures...da bong da bong da bong....just a lot of movement when they walked the beach, and quite a few men that lost their shortsSurprised

I was just telling my hubby I think my zip lining days are over, as most zip lining requires using my arms and hands above my head for braking....

That was too sweet what your hubby did for your anniversary....Happy Anniversary!!

We will be celebrating 45 years of marriage this August....we have put off our "special" vacation this spring, but maybe by fall I will be ready.

Cheryl, glad to hear you are finished. I added your size and style to my list. I thought your placement looked great beforehand compared to mine! Tell me how you feel about the size in a couple of weeks. I'm seeing new PS tomorrow. Happy for everyone who moved to the next step.

Cheryl E. Glad you are done with your exchange and are healing! I'm scheduled for my exchange May 2nd. I have been worried about having to take MORE time off from work for this second surgery, I was only planning on taking a week off, because it was my PS who reassured me that this surgery would be "SO" much easier! I don't buy it, I think you are more likely experiencing the normal and everyone who says it's a piece of cake is likely an exception to the rule! So I think I am going to ask for more time off, and hey, if I don't need it, then all the better!

hey guys.anyone have choice of sientra anatomicals vs round smooth allergan 45?  If yes, how did you choose; what helped with decision making process?  Did ps change during surgery?  Did your ps encourage one or the other or did he/she leave it up to you..these big decisions are making me nuts!

Is anyone getting the newly approved gummy bear transplants? My PS said it is still new and haven't had too much information from users yet. I might have my ex surgery in May or June. He said we can keep that as an option. Thanks

We're gonna have to agree to disagree on the whole tanning thing, I think.  It's definitely a personal choice and there are both pros and cons to it.  Just like any other cancer, some folks are gonna get skin cancer no matter what, even if they rarely are exposed to tanning, and some folks can tan and tan and tan and not get it.

I've googled many times and find articles that preach absolute abstention from any form of UW rays, and articles that preach the benefits of moderate exposure. In terms of the Vitamin D argument I recently found this one: http://gizmodo.com/5823058/tanning-can-cause-cancer-but-not-tanning-could-cause-a-lot-worse.

Anyway, love all of you bunches, no matter which side of the fence you're on with this topic.  For me, it feels right and my level of concern about skin cancer is minimal.

    Have a blessed day!

Well, I feel a bit better.  My oncologist said it was fine for me tan once a year in prep for a trip to the equator - I wish it was a once a year event, it has been 4 years!.  He said burning there would be worse than tanning for two weeks.  I am sure my dermatolgist would not agree, but he also is dying to inject me with botox!  I live in Colorado above 9000 ft, my radiation exposure is off the charts anyway.

I have a 30 year anniversary this September, looks like there are lots of us in the 30 year group this year.  We will be paying for daughters wedding in October and son Graduates high school in June and starts college in the fall.  We may have to save the big party/trip for next year, lol.  At least I will be all healed up by then!!!

Somebody asked about mentor memorygel, I have those.  They are firm but soft.

     DI-

I had BMX on Feb. 6th 2013, and I also have vertical incinsions. I have a scar under each TE and vertical from where my nipple used to be to underneath my TE's. I can't even see my scars unless I look in a mirror. I look down and all I can see are what looks like breasts with no nipples. Once I have my nipple surgery I was told most of my vertical scar and my "underneath" scars would be hard to see unless I look in the mirror and lift up my breasts. I guess that is if I get the fluff and drop everyone talks about!

Romey, you might be okay going back to work after a week. That would be tomorrow for me. If I had a desk job, I would be okay with that, but my job is very active with repetitive arm movements as a middle school librarian. (The students wear me out as it is, even without having had surgery, ha!). Speaking of students, one of my students I taught freshman English to 8 years ago was on The Voice last night! Jessica Kellner made it to Team Usher. So proud of her!

Bcs22- I will let you know what I think. As of now, they still seem pretty big to me. I need to post "after" pics in the forum now, but I will wait until the swelling and bruising subside. If they are too big for my small rib cage, it's my own fault. I told him right before surgery to err on the side of too big rather than too small.

TinaT- I married my high school sweetheart 7 months after we graduated high school (and not because we "had" to :), so that is how I have been married almost 30 years. Hwranch, congrats also to you on your upcoming 30th anniversary!

P.S.- InspiredbyDolce recommended Smooth Move tea after exchange, which I have used since surgery, and it works so well for regularity! I actually have had to drink only half a cup each day because it works so well!

Cheryl_e:  I, too, married my high school sweetheart but not until 3 years after graduation.  By the time we had our first baby we had actually been together 10 years (5 dating, 5 married).  I agree with TinaT though. You are a beautiful and youthful looking woman.

    Cheryl-

Went back to work this week after my "official" 6 weeks off from my BMX and am wondering if THAT was too soon! I will be 7 weeks post-op tomorrow and I am still having lots of pain in my sternum and ribcage. So I think I will prepare myself for at least a week and a half. How exciting for you and your student!! I don't watch The Voice, but I hope she makes it a long way, it will make it so much fun to watch! Congrats on upcoming 30 years, my husband and I will be 27 years this fall and we were also H.S. sweethearts (went to 2 Proms and everything)!

Had my one week follow up with ps today after exchange last week. She loves how everything looks. Says I am healing great. Says over time they will get rounder and a little more projection and more cleavage when the swelling all goes down. I just have to wear the compression band for three more weeks to make sure they stay in place! Lol. But no bra if I don't want to. I can walk and light exercise. Drive. Even lay on my side if comfortable. I have had absolutely no pain with the exchange. She said it was easy and it was at least for me.

Hope everyone else who had their exchange is doing great. Anyone coming up I hope you have as good experience as I did. I totally attribute that to my wonderful PS!! I love her!

    Thinking about you all

Romey and sweetandspecial, crazy how many of us on here married our high school sweethearts!!

Melissa, that is great you didn't have any pain! 2nd time around, you should be a lot more excited than nervous, and that is coming from me who did have some pain. Trust me, it is NOTHING compared to BMX, and I still think mine is from my pecs being so tight, having my nipples, being small before BMX, and because I went bigger than my TEs.

I went for my week checkup today, and he said all looked great. His main office nurse asked me If I had gone back to work yet, so now I am confused. The PS had told me 2 weeks, and another nurse had told me no less than 2 weeks and had written that on my medical leave forms for work. Oh, well, I get paid for every day I'm off through my short term disability plan and have the days, so I didnt even ask him.

Since I was at Dillard's today for my Clinique Bonus Time, I went into Nordstroms and got measured for a bra. I measured a 34 DD, but I am going back next week to try on the bras and buy. I could still be swollen. I was a B before, so this seems so much bigger to me than I'm sure I look to others. My hubby loves them, and I'm getting used to the size. They are so soft, and I have great cleavage for the first time in my life without a bra. Excited for those of you who have upcoming exchanges! :)

I'm tanning. I feel the risks of burning in Mexico in two weeks outweigh the risks of tanning. Unfortunately I burned badly in high school and have to prepare for Sun exposure. I do wonder though.....
