True MC, but I'm thinking of the days that don't hold humidity and I think would help her be more comfortable, I worry that she sits too much. Got her to get up and do a few things and some of her foot, ankle and leg swelling went down. She also said she felt more limber than she had in awhile. If she were a bit more comfy I would hope she would do a bit more for herself to help her own body respond better. I don't mind doing the work, and in fact it generally helps keep me going -- and I would not stop going no matter, but she could enhance her own health a bit.

Yes. Totally agreed. I am just wondering whether the improvement would be worth the money. given a small window ac might cost just as much. She certainly does need to get more active to reduce that swelling.

Thanks for yours and others warm welcome here @ChiSandy. 🙏🏻

I live on the west coast of FL, just below Tampa and north of Naples so I get the upset posts with high temps + humidity. Here, it is running in the low 90s with heat indices at 105+. Am grateful that my A/C is working so far. I seem to be sweating more this year than previous years. We were in drought conditions up until mid July and though at least 12 inches have fallen here, we are still in a deficit for the year, maybe 5 years.

Today I did an over the phone screening with a nurse at the bc center at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. When she asked if this were a second opinion, I said no the first opinion locally hasn't responded a week after my biopsy. 😒 From my experience as well as a multitude of friend's at Moffitt, I have every confidence that I am making the correct choice. I'll know August 31st - luck of the draw is putting me together with the head of BC surgeons. So, I maybe a bit quiet here until then. Know that I am probably just lurking.

Val, The agony of waiting!! I think the waiting to find out what would happen was the hardest part of the whole process. Hugs. Feel free to lurk or chime in, whichever feels right at the time.

IllinoisLady, I’m stuck in the leg brace for 4-6 weeks. I don’t see the surgeon until 8/25 for follow up. Until then I just do nothing. I called the surgeons secretary today because the wound is weeping, light pink tinge, out the side of the Saran type covering. No fever, and she confirmed it was normal. I’m sitting on a dog peepee pad. What next! I can shower on Saturday, so that’s my focus to be clean in a few days.

I think it was 91 here today and felt like 100. I go from AC window unit in bedroom to the portable AC in living room. Bed to reclining couch.

Petite1 I’m hoping Fred misses any direct hits to FL. Stay safe.

It need not discourage us if we are full of doubts. Healthy questions keep faith dynamic. In fact, unless we start with doubts we cannot have a deep-rooted faith. One who believes lightly and unthinkingly has not much of a belief. One who has a faith which is not to be shaken has won it through blood and tears--has worked his or her way from doubt to truth as one who reaches a clearing through a thicket of brambles and thorns. -Helen Keller

Same rather negative weather report for today. Well, that is getting a bit more done in our house. Did have to go out yesterday to make a couple of purchases and check with the garage about bearings for my car. Dh came home and ordered them and he and our sil will put them in when they get here. Hoping that cuts down on my "noises" that are being a rather constant companion in my car with me lately. Otherwise we stayed in. Had to take Bill to the groomer for a trim up and will take him later on for his full buzz cut. It is just so hot here for him.

If this is the result of yrs. of not taking care of our climate issues then I'm really concerned for people who are compromised since it now seems as though this is going to remain with us. I'm wondering what the winter may be like -- but I have to say we had bad predictions for a few yrs. in a row and it never materialized.

Wishing a good day to all.

ValSRQ, I am in Fla. about 11/2 - 2 hours North of Tampa. I went with Florida Cancer Center, only because I didn't want to drive to Tampa. Waiting is not good. I think TS Fred will be a rain maker, not that we need that. We had 11 inches in one day last week.

Val, hoping Moffitt gives you an opinion that will best let you formulate a plan going forward. Fingers crossed, and "in your pocket."

    Cute pants, Petite!

Great news that your surgery went well, Cindy. The pool-noodle toilet-seat hack was a stroke of genius. Hope those 4-6 weeks fly by and you come up with workarounds to get you through. (I remember that when I found a sling-seat and cupholder/tray for my non-wheeled walker back when I was non-weightbearing for 10 weeks after tibial plateau repair, it was a game-changer--it enabled me to cook and bring my meals & drinks to the table. My brace was as long as yours, except it was a hinged plaster cast).

Betrayal, I can hear Happy puking even when I'm wearing earplugs. We go through a LOT of Nature's Miracle and paper towels. With IBD (kitty Crohn's) it comes with the territory, especially at his age (14). Amazing how lethargic and clingy he is--except when it's feeding time. Then he jumps up on counters & tables, and climbs the kitchen cabinets until I put his wet-food dish on his placemat (He dances on his hind legs like the chihuahua in the Farmer's Dog commercials). If I don't watch him like a hawk (and Heidi, too, while she's eating), he will eat everything Heidi leaves in her dish too, plus her kibble.

Jackie, it's been miserably hot & sticky up here all week--until tonight, when it's merely warm-ish & sticky. For three nights in a row we've been huddling, terrified, around the weather radar maps on the TV (and computer, when the torrential rain & winds knock out the satellite AND the cable signal), prepared to go cower in the basement during tornado warnings...unless it floods. Then we're screwed, as we have no "secure interior room" without windows on our first floor (7 stairs up from the street). We were lucky in our 'hood, as we didn't lose any trees (not even any tomatoes off my plants on the deck)--a couple miles north in Evanston and northwest in West Rogers Park, trees were ripped out of the sidewalk (taking concrete slabs with them), landing on houses & cars. Miracle nobody got hurt. Lots of small tornadoes Mon. & Tues. night in the far west & s.w. exurbs (Kane, DeKalb, Grundy, southern Will, Kankakee counties). Was happy to sit on Cellars' patio tonight and "schvitz" while we ate our dinner. Four nights in a row (started raining Sun. night as soon as I took the skillet off the gas grill), we ate in our dining room, shooing Happy off the table--even had to put him in the den & bathroom a couple of times, listening to him howl as if we'd abandoned him.

Did Centralia get hit with those mid-state Noah's Ark-caliber downpours this morning? One town got almost a foot of rain in a few hours.

Just learned that the FDA has approved third mRNA doses for the seriously-immunocompromised (on chemo, biologics, immunotherapies, and immunosuppressants for solid organ transplant and autoimmune disorder patients). They are advising patients' own doctors administer them, because of access to their health history records. (I can see line-jumpers getting antibody-titer blood tests and running to their doctors if the results are low). The U.S. is sending 800,000 Pfizer doses to poor Caribbean countries.

It's very cool here in north MN this morning. We had two very windy days in a row. My container flowers on the deck got whipped about and we didn't do much sitting on the deck.

Because my neighbors Mary and Lyman are exposed to the wind, we relocated last night's fish fry to the site of other neighbors who are more protected. We had a delightful meal with fried fish (bass) and side dishes. I provided a pasta salad. Glad some was left over since I made a large bowl. There was home-made dessert, a peach crisp with vanilla ice cream.

Today I will probably do laundry. The campground has a small laundry room with one washer and one dryer so I will get some exercise walking back and forth.

    Happy Friday.

Wishing wellness for all. We got a big thunderstorm last night -- just booming away for the longest time and one of our cats ( Gordie ) didn't make it to the house in time so had to stay out for hrs. till the rain diminished enough that he could get up to the deck and inside. Luckily for him Dh was getting ready to go to bed when he chose to check one last time.

Fortunately we will be cooler today ( though the humidity will hang around til tomorrow ) and start a cooling trend. That will though put possible rain in our forecast for likely the next week. As long as the humidity backs off I think I'll just be happy. Glad to hear ( Sandy ) your area missed the tornadoes. This is such absolutely crazy weather everywhere that I imagine my fingers will stay crossed til' we get through winter this yr. I worry what it will be like. Hope I'm not 'greying' my hair prematurely on this.

Nothing too much planned today since I work, but I will hopefully get back on the ball over the week-end. My car is starting to need a real wash at the car wash I believe after all the crazy 'water' weather. It had spots on it that I had to work on yesterday -- though not all that hard, but I think the time has come to really see how it will go with a 'real' wash job.

Carole, glad your weather is being mainly suitable now. The fish fry sounded great. I am a fan of fish and my ears perk up any time I hear someone else is enjoying it.

    Have a great Friday everyone.

For some reason I can’t seem to figure out, I’m unable to see my past postings. Have checked, rechecked settings. So I hope I’m not just repeating myself. I’ve have ITP- low platelet count- for years and had a splenectomy for it in1999. I was recently on a webinar with specialist hematologists. Several said when asked that they did not have data, but did not believe an asplenic person would mount an antibody response to the vaccine. I messaged my hematologist- who I haven’t seen in 8 years about this- and she wrote back that many conditions result in suboptimal antibodies and asked me if I wanted the antibody test. I do have antibodies of 355, which is probably low, since, in others, they can range well into the thousands. It is not known what the minimum response needs to be for the vaccine to be effective. I would certainly go for a third shot, or booster when/ if available.

Val SRQ & Petite - I am live in the same area as Petite. I also went to Florida Cancer Specialist & Research. My uncle originally went to Moffit but had his treatments done through Florida Cancer Center. I hope that you get your answers and get the help you need. Moffit is suppose to be one of the best.

Going to be a fairly good day here as I thought. Humidity and temp. down. I think no real rain anywhere near either. The men are going to be putting in my wheel bearings. I'm told it is called hub bearings now as bearings ALONE are never put in -- not in later model Chevy's apparently. Well, things change and hopefully that means better most of the time. I believe that but sometimes -- I really don't like that so many things are on a computerized level in cars now. I remember my old Volvo. If you opened the hood and looked down you could see all sorts of ground underneath. I think it was a '68 or maybe a mite older. I just know I loved it. Wish we could have cars now that weren't so stuffed under the hood it is hard to work on them. I think I'm lucky my SIL is here because between my hubby ( former factory trained Mercedes mechanic ) and he, my car will I think be a lot cheaper to fix since they can do it together.

Hope you are well and will have a great Saturday.

Masked, sitting on this beautiful night in the Ravinia open air pavilion listening to the wondrous Willie Nelson. Trying to put Covid out of my mibd, but wary of anyone unmasked who cones close. Asplenia is on CDC list for immunocrompromized , eligible for third shot. Will find out more next week.

Fantastic day here. A bit warmer than I like but no humidity so it really is ok. My car a/c decided to start working better. It was either bogged down my the humidity or I needed to hit a bump just right. Told Dh I hated to turn the motor off since we went thru some harsh days wit it barely keeping us okay inside.

SIL is moving ajuga plants today. Then I brought home a bunch of starts from my cousin's this afternoon because they got too thick and they will go into one of the new ground cover beds he is making. We have vinca gr. cover in one bed. It will be so nice out there soon. Ron is excellent at lawn work and design so I think this overlarge yard will start looking like it belongs to a house rather than the 'nothing' able to survive the hubby's lawn tractor nemesis that has gone on for yrs. here.

Hard to believe that we will start seeing the signs of Fall soon. As always I feel some dread and don't feel at all ready though if it brings coolness I'd likely get on board pretty quick.

Tomorrow I go early for my special urology test at the hospital. They keep it here but also sent a part of it to Utah somewhere for testing which would show high grade tumor cells if they were there. So far ( crossing everything wildly ) everything found has been very low grade. I'm hoping for nothing found but I will have to go back to sleep in a couple of weeks and have another scope no matter what this test I'm doing tomorrow says.

Hope you all had a fantastic Sunday.

More problems with my DH. After I went to bed, he was turning everything off, bent over and passed out. He was on the floor for a couple of hours. I woke up and went looking for him and found him on the floor. I had trouble waking him up. He would say "Where am I?" and go back out. I called 911. They were able to get him up and he would not go to the hospital. They got him in the bed. I had a melt down. He did get up for breakfast and back to sleep. I am drained, but much to do. He has an appointment Tuesday. I guess I should get in the shower and get dressed.

The people who are unhappy when they are poor would be unhappy if they were rich, and they who are happy in a palace in Paris would be happy in a dug-out on the frontier of Dakota. There are as many unhappy rich people as there are unhappy poor people. Every heart knows its own bitterness and its own joy. Not that wealth and what it brings is not desirable—books, travel, leisure, comfort, the best food and clothing, agreeable companionship—but all these do not necessarily bring happiness and may coexist with the deepest wretchedness, while adversity and penury, exile and privation are not incompatible with the loftiest exaltation of the soul. -John J. How scary petite !! I suppose if he knows he is awake you hubby doesn't see any need to visit the hospital. I wonder what difference could be made if the significant others could see what we see and hear what we do when these things happen. I sure hope he has nothing further and is able to figure out something in his upcoming Dr.'s appt.

Going to have another no humidity day. Looking forward to that. I need to work with some zucchini I got and get it grated and in the freezer.

Hope you all have a really good day.
