Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

I have a family hx of high cholesterol and have been on Lipitor and then its generic equivalent for years. It and Lansoprazole (Prevacid) are probably the only 2 that do not cause any side effects. In fact, until I started taking the AI's I had no side effects from the only 2 meds I was taking. Since then I have had to add all sorts of supplements and other presecription meds to counteract the effects of the AI's. So having BC has been costly in more ways than one. I am on a relatively low dose of Lipitor and my cholesterol readings are good except for the HDL which has run low for several years. PCP not concerned though.
Tile guy finally showed up today later than he had said but he finished the edging for the tile at the closet doors so the basement is done and I can finish decorating down there. I was concerned about how much dust he would generate so did not return the cowhide rug and other features. The "saddle" for the master bath doorway is still undone because he did not have a wet saw with him. He will return on Monday though he did offer to come tomorrow. My DS and GS will come tomorrow to haul donations to Habitat for us. They have an SUV and we had a lot to haul there that would never have fit in DH's car and mine is even smaller. So it will be good to see all those boxes leave the basement as well. There is also flooring and wood in the garage that needs to go and probably 2 boxes of breakables in the living room. My DD and DSIl took some of what I had to use at their house such as a desk top fan, etc. that I used to have in my work office. What is left in the living room is either stuff that will be moved to the basement or temporarily stored in the dining room because it belongs in the living room once it is restored. I cannot believe how much stuff we have donated (or tossed) and how nice it is to have less junk in the attic, in our closets, the basement and other rooms.
It is nice to be organized but organization of items not used regularly is just a waste of time and space. Once the house is done and the weather is warmer, the garage is next. DH will never be done organizing his "stuff" even though I keep after him. The deadline I gave him for some stuff worked because it is gone or going on ebay. It has to be out of here by 4/1 or it is trash. Garage plans include insulating the exterior wall and then sorting/tossing/donating or keeping what's there. Another major project but one that will make the garage storage more efficient. Have a good weekend.

My total cholesterol and LDL are high, but my HDL is very high. At one point I got switched from 5mg to 10mg Crestor, still a low dose. No diabetes meds--my standalone blood glucose is at prediabetic levels (>110) but my a1c is still (last we checked) 5.4. So no metformin necessary. However, my midsection has been expanding out of proportion to the amount of dietary cheating and "sedentariness" (thank you, sore back & neck and painful L toe callus that keep me from any exercise requiring socks or closed shoes); so at my weigh-in on Wed. I will ask to have my thyroid levels tested. My hair continues to thin and I'm always chilled, even upstairs in my house where the radiators are warmer. Next month, after the wedding, is my annual breast MO appointment, at which we will seriously discuss stopping the AI. My glucose & cholesterol were fine before I started it 6-1/2 years ago. I'm also due for my biennial DEXAScan--it's been >2 yrs. since my last Prolia shot, so we'll see how bad my bones have gotten. I stopped taking calcium last year because of high blood levels, and also had to stop D3 (except the 1000 IU in my One-a-Day multivite) because my levels of that were approaching borderline-toxic.
A week after my weigh-in is my semiannual abdominal MRI & low-dose chest X-ray the day before I see my melanoma MO. Scanxiety, anyone?
My HK was going bald until a fellow church member told her that Vicks Vapo-Rub could grow hair on the scalp. I'm skeptical, but she's been able to go without her wigs for the first time in years. The hair growing in is thin, but her bald spot has filled in. Of course, Black hair is prone to traction-alopecia from braiding, extensions and straightening manipulations, so that remedy may not work on my scalp.
My back (mostly my groin/thigh--the IT band & iliopsoas muscle that plagued me a few decades ago) and neck have been bothering me lately. Bob says I overdid it when I resumed treadmill walking--I should have used a lower incline and speed--which could account for the sore quads, but the other stuff is unilateral. My neck pain extends to my shoulder; and sometimes I get a brief "stab" in my TMJ. I can treadmill-walk or recumbent-cycle only when wearing UGG slippers or boots. Maybe I can go early to the "hobble-in" ortho clinic before my weigh in late next Wed. afternoon. Tylenol doesn't work sufficiently, Aleve flares up my GERD, but Celebrex seems to help considerably--less pain & greater neck ROM since I began taking 200mg a day,

Until you are committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back,
ineffectiveness. It is true: the moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves. All sorts of things begin to happen to help you
that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events
issues from that decision, raising in your favor all manner of unforeseen
incidents, meetings and material assistance, which you couldn't
have dreamt would come your way.

Sandy, you have good command it sounds like over all your issues. The Vicks Vapo rub sounds interesting o say the least. I have a couple of thin areas that for now are not that bad. I do worry though it could get worse.
It's raining again today so I'll likely stay in. I need a couple of things from Walmart and for the first time since I came home in Dec. I may have to go in. Not sure I trust Dh to find what I need from the hair care area -- so Chi Satin after hair wash conditioner that just pats on with your hands and some Big Sexy Hair Mousse. Dh has done fairly well at most of my directions --- and I have saved the bottles so he could see them, but I do wonder. The hair care section in Walmart is easy ( not too far inside the store ) to get to and usually not crowded but I really shouldn't get my freshly permed hair wet just yet -- so may rely on Dh.
Decided on the longer permed hair again so can just let the curls air-dry with the conditioner and mousse on them. I have my Revlon dryer/brush for when it begins to grow out too much to scrunch.
Hope you all are going to have a good day, some warmth and good success whatever tasks or fun activities you may have planned.

Sunny and in the 70's today after a nice day yesterday that eventually got into the high 60's. My DS came to haul away the donations for Habitat and a few items he can post on Facebook free market for cats. I had two cat posts with shelves and they seem to prefer the one over the other, so we kept the one they liked and are offering the other to someone who might use it. He also took away some old Disney videos that he might list on ebay.
There were also 2 cabinets that had been the base for my DD's Ikea desk many moons ago. I used them to store sewing materials but was able to consolidate them in a large cabinet I used for work materials storage. Now that I am retired, I was able to repurpose the larger cabinet and give the other 2 away. So nice to see so much go out the door today to become "treasures" for others. Now I can clean the floor in the basement and finish redecorating. I have a table and lamp to go by the large storage closet, the rug to lay, pictures to hang in the stairwell and some items to move into the large storage closet. Then I might be able to do a check for the basement being finished. Yeah!

Congratulations on your new basement, betrayal.
I have been busy sewing for my client. I also had to do the accounting for my sewing. That was a headache and a half, I had to have a free (she is one of my best friends) consultation with an accountant whose specialty is crafts. She approved of my system (I did take a college course in accounting 50 years ago) and gave me some other helpful advice.
I hope everyone comes back. It has been a long time, relatively speaking.

We're testing. So stay tuned.

Hi Mary: Nice to see you and hear that you have a business plan for your sewing. It must be difficult to determine what you should earn/charge for the specialized work you are doing for your client. I have always admired handmade crafts, did not quibble about cost if they were what I loved and wanted and loved them as gifts, too. I can imagine that getting a client to see this as acceptable can be a challenge due to the fact that they only see the finished project and not the effort and talent that it took to create it. One should never sell themselves short.
So glad to see the site is making a comeback even if it is by baby steps. It is raining today, it is gray and damp. We just had a contractor take a walkabout to determine what to do with our front sidewalk (original to house and very skinny) which becomes overgrown by my hydrangeas during the summer. I want them to be able to flourish so I do not like cutting them back. I also have a very bushy lilac that has outgrown its stone wall. It produces the most fragant blossoms in the spring so I do not want to constrict it or trim it either. Let it be exuberant because it smells divine. The front steps which we had replaced are not to code and are too steep with a 9" rise on 2 of the 3 steps when it should be about 7". I want them gone but do not want to have to have a railing installed. Our flagstone patio needs some specialized TLC as well. It was installed 20 years ago and just needs some adjustments to go back to its former glory. This company could address all these issues and has promised to send the estimates for 2 types of sidewalk separately and the work on the patio as a separate charge as well. Then we can decide what gets done and when. I have tentative plans for the garden here once it is all done. I need to transplant a hydrangea that is too close to the driveway and what will be the new sidewalk. It can go in the same area it currently is but just moved maybe 4 feet. This area is covered by pachysandra so it just means digging up some of that and moving it to another area. The hydrangea then could get as big as it wants and not obstruct anything. I like plant beds that require minimal upkeep so I will plant transplanted daffodil bulbs (I let them naturalize and they need to be thinned), plant new hyacinth bulbs and I will buy or transplant some irises. So these can pop through the pachysanda and require minimal care.
I saw an Eastern bluebird at the feeder the other day and it is the first I have ever seen. Another bird scared it so it was a brief glimpse but it was so pretty. I hope it stays in the area. March is such an iffy month weatherwise. It teases you with hopes of gardening and then the temps drop and it snows. So I am wanting to uncover the flower beds but know that it is still too early. I'll just enjoy the erupting daffodils and regular and grape hyacinths for now. I bought some TeteTete daffodils that will go in the front garden but are being enjoyed indoors for now. Have a good day.

A friend helped me dig up my parsnips, and I am hoping to keep them in the crisper until they are gone or going rotten. Too few good ones to be worthwhile taking them to the food pantry. I am planning on making a donation to them later. She came across something that was not parsnips and asked me to identify them. The woman who had that part of the garden before me had put in some daffodils from their old house. I think that clump of daffodils had been there for ten years. I had only seen two flowers in the four years I have lived here. I dug them up and planted them nearly all the way around the edge of the garden.
Yeah, I have been charging them flat rate for each part of a job, determined by the experience of others. I am going to switch to using my stopwatch function on my phone, but that requires some self-discipline. I am sure that I am undercharging her, but she has promised to pay me well, and I can call the rest a gift, or tip. I have done a search of her name, and it appears that she would be able to follow through on that.
I have told Tippy that something special is coming for him in the mail. It is a retractable leash, so he can range wider on our walks, and run for short distances. He is very frustrated because I walk so slow. He was whiney for the first hour, but now he has gone to sleep. Last night he would yip just as I was going to sleep, for three or four times. It seemed to be the "where are you?" yip, so I pulled him up to have physical contact with me, and we both slept much better.

Beautiful to open my mail and find that the forums are hopefully back -- even if further work on them still needs refinements. Here's hoping we don't lose each other anymore. Betrayal and all of you -- it seemed like a painfully long absence since we have been un-able to access the blogs. Here's hoping.
Actually not much has changed since I was last on. Still waiting for needed tests ( thinking scope for bladder and kidney here ) but otherwise I'm doing okay. Mainly I'm not active enough I think. Finally got my hair done. That was a relief. It really had gotten way too long . I got a curly perm his time and so I can do a wash and wear pretty much. I use big Sexy Hair Mousse to hold the curls and Chi Silk Infusion for right after I wash my hair.
Will be looking forward to leaving a quote tomorrow.

I tried the CHI styling products but I can't stand the scent. (I do love the scent of the Drybar stuff). CHI does make great curling & flat irons, though.

Good morning. I missed everyone.
Betrayal, sounds like basement is coming along. Good to hear it!
IllinoisLady, I gave up on my hair and have a pixie cut,
MC, Flat rate sounds easier, but by the hour is probably the most accurate to charge for your time.
Sandy, Let us know if the any of the hair products work. I would love to have thick hair or at least normal hair.

Every morning when we wake up we've been given a wonderful gift—another day of life—so let's make the most of it. No one can do it for us. . . . Genuine happiness can only be realized once we commit to making it a personal priority in our lives. This may be a new behavior for some of us and a bit intimidating. Be gentle with yourself. It will all unfold. Like any new behavior, happiness can be learned. -Sarah Ban Breathnach

We have blue birds and it's such a pleasure to see the flashes of blue as they fly. They are bug eaters and forage in the lawn. One year dh made a number of blue bird houses but the squirrels destroyed most of them. Wasps made a home in one. So it wasn't a successful effort.
I was surprised and pleased to be able to access bc.org this morning. Yesterday I received an email telling me what I already knew, that the discussion forums were "down."
Lately I am developing some lower back soreness and discomfort. I printed out some exercises from the Mayo website and have been doing some of the floor exercises.
I hope none of our regulars have been discouraged enough to abandon this forum.
Happy Friday.

I am so with you Carole, in the hopes that people we have come to enjoy interacting with so much will continue to come here. My understanding ( not that my understanding is always correct ) per what I felt I read was that the Mods wanted to give us back the ability to communicate with each other and handle the other deeper issues as warranted.
All have issues -- mine was I didn't do well with Zoom as despite a lot of help from people here -- I just couldn't make it work for me. So -- even though ZOOM was going to happen it still would have not done me any good. I suspect there are plenty enough like me too. Anyway, I think it is fortuitous that it was given back to us -- just hope everyone becomes highly aware that it IS back and it would seem to me ( or at least in my case ) it is working as well as it did for the first few days when I was able to finally get on after the big change-over.
Petite -- likely these are all things you might and likely already do but I'll mention just in case. If you have a perm or color in your hair this will automatically instill some volume to your hair. I also use a good volumizer shampoo and conditioner. Aveeno or Paul Michell. Sometimes Chi when I have extra money I can feel free to use on my hair care. My hair is so thin and fine -- and chemo and age hasn't done much at all to help that. I've always needed some extra HELP. So I got what you might call a long afro - and I have tons of body right now.
Hi to all.

I hung the last of the pictures in the basement stairwell and above the small table next to the storage closet yesterday. So my decorating in the basement is finished, finally. I will dust, run the vacuum and consider it done. I have a few items that need to be donated so I will box them up for Purple Heart. DH announced that he was going to start sorting and purging in the furnace area (in which he has multiple small parts cabinets full of "junk") today so visualize me doing my happy dance! I don't think he even knows what he has and I know for a fact that he has purchased items that we already had because he doesn't know what he has in inventory. So we have a rule that he has to look first before he heads to Home Depot for any item and no on the whim purchases. He has a bag of items he actually has to return to Home Depot for this reason.
He used to migrate on to my tall sewing table which I used for cutting out items and work that was back breaking. We now have boundaries established because he has a desk for his everyday "work" and a workbench/ham radio station whose "stuff" would end up invading my work table. He has more than adequate space so there is no need to spread out as he does. I could seldom use my table due to his mess so now it is off limits. We'll see how that goes.
We need new front steps because the ones we had installed many moons ago are too steep and not to code and the connecting sidewalk is original and too skinny. So we have had contractors come to give us estimates on better and more attractive replacements. Now that the outside of the house has been spruced up after the tree damage, time to address the outside. The flagstone patio we had installed in 2000 is in need of some TLC as well. The base has eroded over the years with the flagstones shifting and sinking and the one wall is leaning at the top. So yesterday's contractor will submit estimates for the steps and 2 different versions of sidewalk as well as repairs to the patio. This will help us decide which will be the final product for the steps and sidewalk. The patio is beyond what we can do ourselves so it does require some professional help. I can handle the landscaping and will need to move one hydrangea that is close to the driveway and where the sidewalk begins. This area is covered with pachysandra and there is ample room for me to move it within this area. The centerpiece is a large Crepe myrtle that will be uneffected by any move I make since it is centered. It was a gift from my mother's neighbor who had a very green thumb and it was a mere stick when I planted it. It is now over 15 feet tall and lovely when it blooms in late July to August. So I am drawing up a landscaping plot for later use when all the work is done. We need to get a decision amde because we were told if we wait beyond April to make a decision we are looking at the fall or later for the job to even begin. So we are looking at making a decision by mid-April so we can get work done starting in June-July.
It is sunny and will be in the 50's today so I am happy after yesterday's dreary rain and dampness. Have a good day and it is noce to see other posters gradually trickling in.

I felt lost not being able to see y’all comments for the day. Who is doing what, and I just plain missed you.
I can’t remember what I posted last! The naproxen I used for my sore toe/foot worked. No longer in pain. I did get into a massage therapist Wednesday. That felt heavenly and I’m booked again for 4/13 for 90 minutes. We’re back attending spring training games. Sitting in the sun is much hotter than I recalled- it’s been since early March 2020 that we’ve been at a game. Guests are arriving tomorrow evening after a day of golf, them not us. They’re making their way down the coast visiting various friends & family. We’ll take in another game this Sunday with them.
Weather today was spectacular! Bike ride at 11 AM in 74 degrees. Cool to the FL residents, heaven to me.
Mary - set your timer, it’s easy to cheat yourself $ when you enjoy what you’re doing. Betrayal - finally you’re getting the house to where you want it. Yea! IllinoisLady, I need a hair cut badly. The last one he styled it more than cut length off. So I text him last night to see if anything is available on 3 different dates. I’ve yet to hear back and I hope I haven’t lost another stylist! I won’t be back in NY for another 50+ days and hate to think I’d wait that long. It is in a clip more than it’s down, but still. I bay have to try another person.
I hope the site stays up and working. It was disappointing to open it and see the famous “down for maintenance message. Take care ladies!

Cindy, you sound busy and happy. I, too, hope more people "trickle in." It was surprising how cheated I felt not to be able to log in.
Yesterday was a beautiful day here in south Louisiana. I passed on golf and did more yard work. I had ordered 20 bales of pine straw for mulching. I finished the front border flowerbeds and did three of the ten crepe myrtle trees. Now I'm down to 3 bales of straw, which may not be quite enough.
The bending over doesn't seem to make my lower back discomfort worse. I was hesitant about whether the twisting motion of a golf swing would be wise.
My visit to the dermatologist resulted in some "frozen" places on my face but the growth on my lower leg that I had diagnosed as carcinoma was frozen, too, not cut out. She didn't think it looked like cancer. So we'll see if it heals. That's the key.
So good to be here sharing!

Forgot to say that your house inside and out sounds so attractive, Betrayal.

Thanks, Carole. Now that I am retired and the restoration process has an end in sight, I can get to the household jobs I had in planning. They have been on hold for nearly 3 years and they are now at the stage where they are "have to be done" instead of "want to be done". Like the patio furniture repainting that was to be done in fall 2019 but I canceled when the house was damaged because I could only deal with one major project at a time. I have been in touch with the company that does the painting and it is on schedule for the fall. They have been overwhelmed with demand and have had an employee issue so that's part of the delay. I love my house and my DD has told me that she would like to live here when we are gone which is a compliment because she was about 7 when we first moved here.
The interior jobs include refinishing the kitchen cabinets and the floors in the eat in area and the family room. Since this will involve "stinky" solvents or finishes, it needs to be done when we can open the windows to dissipate the odors. So I am trying to line up contractors for these as well. One odd benefit of the Pandemic is that we have been able to spend less on entertainment and travel (a negative to miss this for us) so were able to save for these projects. While it does seem like a lot to be doing now, it has been on hold for 3 years and I am impatient to cross them off my "to-do" list which has been in limbo for what seems forever. Plus you have probably experienced the feeling that when you spruce up one room, it makes you look askew at another room to decide if it is up to par.
I do like to keep busy and try to have at least a small (or sometimes larger) project to do each day and then have some downtime where I can goof off and indulge in Netflix or a good book.
It's gray again today so I will work on a project that I have been postponing in the spare bedroom. It needs to be done and the outcome will be worth it because it will transform the room. Just a quick cleaning and then replacing all the bedding with new items that I had purchased awhile ago. Voile, a new room at minimal cost. Have a good day.

Time is . . . Too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too long for those who grieve,
Too short for those who rejoice;
But for those who love. . . Time is Eternity!0 -
So nice today to read everyone's posts. We went off-line so abruptly and w/o warning pretty much that it felt like a deep, deep loss. Also, not knowing how long we would ultimately have to wait to have visits with each other again made time go in a tedious somewhat in a way un-fulfilled manner.
I concur with Carole and others -- your house just sounds so inviting -- and indeed as you say, inviting enough that your daughter hopes to be the mistress of the house someday. You are right Betrayal -- that is a very splendid compliment and one to treasure for sure. In my mind's eye it is also the amt. of love and care displayed through the years -- the memories stored inside. It's all important.
Well, I'm in a dither. I just sent Dh and my son-in-law ( and boy were they eager for this chore -- if I didn't know better I'd say someone really loves to spend ) to Walmart to look at tv.'s. My Samsung ( living room ) is going to bite the dust. There is a somewhat wide black area from top to bottom showing up in the tv. with space on either side. I find it to be greatly annoying. I had hoped not to have to charge anything else on my card, but I guess I will and just double up on my paymts -- although I never send just the minimum anyway.
Thank goodness we have sun today. More wind than I like so the temps don't seem as warm as they otherwise might. I'm just thrilled that I'm not looking out and seeing gray. It will be a bit for another really warm day -- but Spring has definitely sprung so it is just a question now of having some patience.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Jackie, I love the quote about time. Also, enjoy your new tv. You deserve it.
We had a pleasant outing today. The wives were invited to the woodworkers guild meeting. It was held at a member's new home. We women visited in the living room while the guys had their meeting out in the garage. Afterwards we ordered sandwiches and had our lunch together. I ordered a muffaletta, which is a sandwich well known in the New Orleans area. It has Italian luncheon meats and cheese and an olive dressing. It normally comes on a special round Italian bun but this one was on a baguette type loaf bread which was delicious. Jackie, much too salty for you and for me but I thoroughly enjoyed the indulgence. I haven't eaten a muffaletta in several years. Another salty sandwich I really enjoy but don't have often is the Rueben.
Sandy, Central Grocery in the French Quarter is "THE" muffaletta sandwich place but it is currently closed. I don't know why. It's located across the street from Cafe du Monde at Jackson Square.
The new house was like one of those hg tv beautiful homes. It was fairly traditional but with all the modern conveniences. Open living plan. Nicely furnished but homey. It's a two story, but the upstairs is unfinished because the mature couple don't need the space.
I came home and ended up shopping on line at Appleseed's. I like their knit shorts and capris for every day summer wear and they usually have a promotion with free shipping and a discount.

Betrayal, your house sounds wonderful! Ours (stucco over frame, built 1908) looks fine from outside (albeit exterior wood trim badly needs painting) but there are so many urgent interior projects: shore up or even replace some dangerously creaking staircase risers; repair peeling plaster ceilings; replace several windows (one cracked pane, several drafty frames); re-caulk some drywall cracks in the front room (a converted porch) that let drafts in; replace cracked loosening floor tiles in first floor bathroom (hope it's not the subflooring at fault); replace the pipes in that bathroom so we can get the tub & shower workig again; replace some of the wooden/laminate lintels that Happy has used as scratching posts for >14 years; and re-paint nearly every room. Never mind all the obsolete stuff we've accumulated.
While we're away at the wedding, we'll have the deck re-stained (assuming the weather is dry enough, a rash assumption given Chicago's Bipolar Vortex weather patterns). And despite having had to replace the subterranean power line out to the garage only 2 yrs. ago, the garage itself is badly outdated--we could use reinforcements at its eaves & gutters. Sometimes I just wonder about whether to move into an "active senior" community (condos or townhomes) and hand the keys over to Gordy & Leslie--but given rising property taxes they may be better off renting indefinitely. I grew up in rented apts., and Bob & I didn't buy a home (this one, in fact) till Gordy was almost 3--and we'd been married 16 years. We're on only 1/4 acre--so the land is worth less than the house (the opposite of the trendier 'hoods or larger suburban lots where teardowns have been common).
I'm also in a foul mood because the dress for the wedding is getting snug and will definitely require the minimizer bra, Spanx camisole & high-waist control panty (and the backup dresses I ordered in Feb. STILL haven't arrived--Holy Clothing promised to expedite them but that was two weeks ago and they haven't shipped from India; they used to ship within a week of ordering). I'm gonna swallow my pride and call David's Bridal in the morning and hope that the local branch has it in stock one size up. If not, I will have to call Nordstrom or Dillard's to see if they can ship it expedited (Dillard's will ship expedited for $20 extra. Nordstrom these days keeps next-to-nothing in stock so I can't go pick it up, and their site says "should arrive Mar. 31-Apr. 5." We leave on the 7th). Oh, and the matching shoes I ordered from David's nearly a month ago? They haven't shipped either. I have several pair of cute gold sandals that fit the prescribed accessories color palette, but the embellished matching navy wedge slides would have been so perfect. I hate to use my last resort of that old (2015) size XL Holy Clothing burgundy Ophelia Mini, but I might have to. My pie-in-the-sky hope is to go absolute "Atkins Induction" (eating nothing but dead animals & leaves) from this moment on until we get on the plane, but that's next to impossible and probably will cause weight loss in places that won't affect how my clothes fit. If I have to buy the larger dress from Dillard's or Nordstrom and David's won't take this one back, I'm gonna have to put it up on eBay. (Never mind the backup ones I ordered from Holy Clothing, which almost certainly won't arrive in time).

Carole, bummer about Central Grocery, which was my go-to for muffalettas when in the Quarter. In fact, one year when our local rock station WXRT held a "Rock & Blues Excursion" to Jazzfest, my last stop before boarding the motorcoach back to the airport was Central--I bought a dozen. Had them cut into wedges and handed them out on the charter plane home, as Continental didn't serve so much as a salted peanut in flight; Bob took the rest to his office the next day. We went all three years the station ran the trip--we stayed in the Maison Dupuy, which had a 100-yr-old parrot in the lobby that some of our fellow tour members taught to say "Cubs rule, Sox suck." One morning on the shuttle to the Fairgrounds, the blues DJ chaperoning us led us in a rousing rendition of Monty Python's "The Lumberjack Song." What the driver must have been thinking we'll never know, but we can guess.

What a panic of anxiety for you, Sandy. You do have some alternatives which sound stylish enough. Perhaps you want to put on a fashion show for us?

Sun is shining this morning, but it is coolish. Going to have a few days like that. Didn't sleep great last night so I'll likely get in a nap today. Some little chores to do.
Hope you all have a good day.
I'm all in for the fashion show.

Yes, we would love to see some wedding pictures as well as photos of the MOG. It is so exciting to have a family wedding and to actually enjoy the day after all the time spent in planning.
Sad that Central Market is closed. I love their muffulettas and actually ordered their olive salad online, my DD located a round loaf of Italian bread (no seeds sadly) at a local Italian restaurant/store combo. We bought the meats (used CM's list of meats) and hollowed the bread to stuff it with all that goodness. It wasn't quite the same because NO adds something to the taste but it was quite good. My DSIL didn't even notice that Swiss cheese is part of the sandwich. I also had a King Cake from Gambino's that I ordered online. It was delicious, came undecorated so DSIL and I decorated it. I found the baby so I get stuck buying one again next year. The best ones we had came from the open market in NO and we made several trips back there to buy more. I prefer the ones with the cream cheese filling. We used to go there for spring break when we worked. Now I am having a craving for beignets at the small store in the mall where we could sit outside on the deck and watch the ships enjoying both the weather and the view.
