We have had sunshine and warm weather for the past 2 days and it will get into the 80's again today. Too early for weather to be this hot but I'll take the sun. Predicting heavy thunderstorms tonight so I will work on flower beds later today. I have raked out leaves and debris from the beds closest to the house on the side near the garage, back, front and patio. The Seal of Solomon are erupting so I had to watch because they are so delicate, if you break them they don't erupt. The hosta in the back are now starting to open and all the hyacinths are in fragrant bloom. Purchased small red flags to use in identifying daffodil clumps that need to be broken up for redistribution and marked some yesterday. I wrote which color they are on the flags (have yellow, white, pink, and yellow & white varieties) so I will be able to replant them elsewhere as a variety rather than all one color. I can recycle the flags or toss them since they were not that expensive and it beats stakes that seem to always disappear.

Today's plan is to do the beds near the driveway and part of the hill. The hill will be easier since it has a vinca vine ground cover and the leaves just sit on top. I've not been able to get such an early start on the beds before and hope to maybe get some mulching done in May. The Japanese maple outside the bay window is opening its leaves. I noted that the white bleeding heart on the far side of the house is in bloom and the pink ones are just now erupting in the backyard. I have left them to self seed and they nicely fill in bare spots. I do move them if they end up in the lawn but they are beautiful when they are in full bloom. I have several near the stream that get about 4 feet across and each is just one plant. Due to climate change, they no longer last all summer as they used to. Have windows open to let in fresh air and cats are loving it. They are indoor cats so they tend to cluster around the patio door screen and sometimes spat over who gets the best seat. Have a nice day.

Our "spring" was short lived. A blizzard went through 80% of ND, places in ND got 3 FEET of snow yesterday, I-94 is closed for 653 miles from Jamestown, ND to Billings, MT and hasn't reopened yet. This is calving season and the ranchers are struggling to save the newborns. Fargo is in the 20% the blizzard missed, we got 2" today.

Puffin, I'm sorry to hear you are back in winter and I sure hope it doesn't last long. We sometimes get a bit, but here it doesn't last long and generally isn't too extensive. I recall one yr. in the first week of Apr. we got 14 ins. of snow all in one day. The next day it was melting and fairly fast -- so ours here ( if they do come ) are short-lived and usually no damage done.

Partly sunny this morning -- but not sure what the day will bring. Happy to have a day with no Dr. appts. to keep. I had a stool sample test and now have become a candidate for colonoscopy. Oh joy !!! I'm not totally bummed. The major issue is I seem to be in an in-between area right now. It is possible no one will want to clear me at present doe the deeper anesthesia needed for removal of the bladder lesion as well as the colonoscopy. Sigh !!!
I'll know more when I go see the Cardio ( Dr. Rueben ) this coming week. I have the name of a Hematologist which my Dr. friends here think might be a good source of info for me. My Lymphocytes and Neutrophils are backwards of what they should be with falling Hemoglobin so it would be another possible step to fill in any needed info in order to make good assessments for what is going on. All this seemed to have 'sprung' up after the valve replacement -- so I think it can all be handled satisfactorily -- but just need to get the right assessments I think. Then again -- what do I know. Got a start on dealing with some of the overload that is in my bedroom. Hoping to get more done today. I had great success with sleeping in my bed overnight. Way better than I thought. I still mainly have to stay on my right side since my broken arm. That - the left side was way back when the favored side. I can -- if tired of the rt. enough, use the left in a somewhat abbreviated way to take pressure from the rt. for awhile. I did that last night. It felt good and I did have a much quieter night of things. Only up twice for the bathroom and I hope that continues as well. Hope you all have a really good day.

Did not get as much gardening done as planned yesterday due to intense heat. It got well into the 80's and I had to clean out the residual leaves from last year's irises. The secateurs I had were sticking and locking. So one clip and then I would have to stop to unlock them. It was a maddeningly slow process in the heat. Finally located secateurs that one of the reconstruction guys left behind and we were unable to locate the owner (one positive of this has been tools left behind that no one claims). A little DW-40 and they worked really well but by then I was tired. So I will go back at it today and finish that bed now that I have the better tool. What I did looks good and the new iris shoots are coming up.

These are Japanese irises so they are more delicate in appearance and they have seemed to naturalize as well. I got the originals from my then hairdresser of over 20 years ago. I was talking to my stylist when she mentioned how they were trying to give away these irises all day (my appointment was towards the end of the day) and no one seemed to want them. I told her I might be interested and she showed me them after she was done. They had a few small buckets so I told her I would take some. She then told me they were going in the trash if I did not take all, so I did. I have given away buckets of them myself over the past few years. These were white but I have since added yellow ones and they seem to be naturalizing as well. My DD and my PT/LT got some of the yellow ones last year.

Jackie, I hope they can get to the bottom of what's up with you soon. The anesthesia used for a colonoscopy is no big deal ~30 minutes max. Considering how many of them I have had over the past 2 years, I can attest to that. I have another one scheduled for the fall which will be #4 in a little over 2 years. Anesthesia for bowel surgery was much longer and serious (so anesthesia in fall will be #5). Hoping this provides answers for you and me both.

Today will be cooler after rain yesterday evening. Not the big storm they predicted but enough to cool it down thankfully. Have a good day.

Good chance of wet weather outside soon. I've heard some thunder and the wind is up. I played hooky from work in my bed room and went to Rural King with the family. I'm venturing out a bit more -- but I do wear a mask on. Got some pepper which they sell in a square see-through plastic container, as well as taco seasoning with very little salt. Also a jar of Triple Berry jelly. Good prices. That was a large part of the mid morning. We stopped at a yard sale on the way home. I don't do it too often -- usually don't find much because there is nothing I need. I did get three cookbooks for a $1.00. I'm notorious for keeping lots of cookbooks around, but I also have no issue about donating them when I'm done to Goodwill. I just have to stay out of that store until hopefully all my donations are gone --lest I buy some back.

Some people confuse acceptance with apathy, but there's all the difference in the world. Apathy fails to distinguish what can and cannot be helped; acceptance makes the distinction. Apathy paralyzes the will-to-action; acceptance frees it by relieving it of impossible burdens. -Arthur Gordon

Sun outside. That will make it a good Saturday for me for sure. Not a lot planned, but I've thought about ( with a mask, of course ) making a walk through of Goodwill. I can't recall for sure last time I was there but I'm almost certain it was some time before this past Nov. I've only just now started going out a bit more.

It is at a time when covid cases are turning up again, but so far noting much is going on here. Since that could change I will definitely use my mask still when I'm going in stores and places where a lot of people from different parts of our area can turn up. I'm petty certain our health dept. is keeping a watchful eye since they are still doing as much reporting as they always have.
Have to go to the bank as well today. It sure feels great to NOT dread going out from not feeling all that well. I'm still amazed at what seemed some minor changes in medications can do. Also sure the ability to be up on my feet and doing things help enhance the work of the medications too. Sure enjoying looking out and seeing all the new Spring time growth going on. Renews my energy to get things done whatever it is that needs attentions. Hope you all have a great Saturday.

Jackie: May you find many treasures at Goodwill. I love retail therapy and feel sometimes it does more good than going to your PCP. The side effects are usually pleasurable.

Got an early start today because it was cool this morning and the backyard is shady in the AM. I finished the flower bed I started yesterday and added the area under the Japanese maple so the beds closest to the house are done. They look good so I have a sense of accomplishment that I honestly do not get from housecleaning which is a brief moment of satisfaction before someone tracks something in, sheds or spills something.

I still have beds on the top of the hill that will just need some mild raking and then the beds down front close to the road are on my radar. There are quite a few of them to do (about 10) and then there is the fern bed on the far side of the house. It usually accumulates a lot of leaves which cover the flagstone walkway. I call it my hidden garden because it is not visible from the front of the house because it is in a declivity. Below that I have also created a garden that has a flagstone walkway and has perennials, a Crepe myrtle and some azaleas plus pachysandra for ground cover. I usually just need to rake and clear the walkway. So I probably have about 2 more weeks of gardening to get it all cleaned up weather permitting. This is my "gym" routine. The Japanese maple had just buds at the beginning of the week and now it is almost in full leaf. It has the lacy leaves so it is pretty and survived a direct tree hit about 18 years ago which reduced it to about 1/3 of its former size. It has now approached close to its former size and I am happy.

I am now tackling laundry and will treat myself to a Netflix movie in between loads. It is in the 70's but there is a little breeze so it is comfortable. I am doing Easter dinner for DH, DD and DSIL tomorrow. I use one of Martha Stewart's recipes for scalloped potatoes and it is a big family hit. I also have to make pineapple casserole which is an easy dish and well loved. Other side will be roasted asparagus.

I bought hyacinths at the local Giant (our grocery chain) which were reasonable considering each pot has 5 bulbs. I picked ones that were not yet in bloom so they would bloom by tomorrow and they are cooperating. Love the smell of hyacinths so I have them in the family room, kitchen and powder room. I will plant them outdoors when they are done blooming. They seem to be hardy and come up each year. Our "pet cemetery" is marked by pink hyacinths and it is in the woods on our property.

Happy holidays to all who celebrate at this time of year. Enjoy your family traditions and may the weather produce a nice day for all of us. We are to get storms tonight but hopefully they are gone tomorrow.

Glad everyone is doing mostly well. Sandy, you have had blood sugar problems in the past, haven't you?

I didn't go to church Thursday or Friday. I have problems standing for long periods of time, and even worse when it is sit, stand and kneel. I could go and not do those things, but-- I did watch our parish on TV though.

I got my package of saris. Very nice. Busy washing them-- sort of. My hands froze putting the first two out on the line. I might wait until Tuesday to finish them. I am planning on getting a nice number of skirts and tops, etc together for display and sale at crafts shows.

DH and I quite a bit done yesterday, working together. We cleaned the gutters on three sides of the house. He sprayed a cleaning solution, using the garden hose, and we both used brushes with long handles. We rolled down the storm shutters and cleaned the exterior surfaces. After that job was done, dh got out the power washer and cleaned the carport. It was really in need of cleaning.

Today we plan to pick up tree branches on the back of the property. In fact, he's already outside and I hear the mower running. He pulls a wagon with the mower.

I'm feeling somewhat "down in the dumps" because there is no Easter gathering with any family members, but there was nothing preventing me from planning a gathering and cooking a meal. Family dynamics aren't ideal. I won't go into the details but not everyone enjoys being around this one or that one.

I'd better get moving. Hope everyone has a good Easter Sunday, whether it's just a day on the calendar or a religious day.

Starting out cloudy this a.m. I think some sun later, or at least I'm hoping for some. Sure enjoying being in my bed at night and still surprised how easy it was. Only one drawback which I consider generally minor. I can only lay two different ways since I broke my arm --- and when I've been "in bed" long enough, I have to get up. Not being able to have more than two positions in bed makes for some discomfort after sleeping all night.

I usually can get any extra I need by using the recliner. I don't mean too -- but I come out, settle in and turn on the t.v. and often promptly fall asleep.

Concerned that I would have to make an appt. with the Ear Dr. I saw a couple of yrs. back since my new hearing aids seemed iffy on one side. I knew I had a build-up of wax in that ear. Seems maybe the new ear bud ( fits slightly different then the old ones ) maybe managed to jar loose the extra wax and it came out on its own yesterday. What a difference. One appt. I can now not have to make. Always good for me any time I can skip needing a Dr.

I hope you all Have a great Easter today.

I was driving down a familiar road one fall day when I almost drove off the road, the beauty was so intense. It looked as if God had sent in a team of the world's finest artists overnight—and I was privy to the opening day of his spectacle. As I slowly drove along this festive row, leaves danced in the air and brushed against my windshield. It seemed as if I had landed in Oz. I was strongly tempted to get out and clap at God's imagination. -Sheila Walsh

We are starting out gray, but hopefully later on some sun. It rained late yesterday afternoon and through the night but seems dry now. Not a lot planned but I did pretty much take yesterday off, so need to do catch-up things -- whatever rears up in front of me. Work is work and it is all good.

We need to consider ( since the meat counter I went to see was empty the other day ) another trip to Kroeger. We had one here yrs. ago and I sure wish we still did. Our old IGA closed quite awhile ago, but it is an old building. Doubt whether Kroeger would be interested. It would need major repairs and possibly is a bit small for a Kroeger. I can dream though.

It is about time to start thinking about cleaning the yard a bit. The worst is already done, but I think my SIL wants to put some border materials around some of our planted beds. We may have to use some new fill in plants there as well. The deer were in those beds and trampled around a bit. The periwinkle does spread itself and would be fine if we had a bit more out there.

Hope you all have a great Monday.

What you call periwinkle, I call vinca vine and they are the same. I like your name better. I love it as a ground cover because it permits bulbs and other perennials to push through whereas pachysandra can sometimes overwhelm them. I have a bed down front that used to have both hosta and periwinkle until the deer used it as a salad bar and ate all the hosta. I need to thin the periwinkle here and move it to some other beds. It is quite accommodating to thinning and filling in the gaps quickly. So when I transplant the daffodil bulbs elsewhere I'll take plugs of the periwinkle, too.

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny but cold Easter like the ones I remember as a child when my Easter outfit wasn't always warm enough. It was also breezy so the wind made it feel cooler. It rained last night and today is as gray as a flophouse sheet. It is also chilly with less breeze. I took my car to the dealer for a recall repair and it will be done by 3. Ran to the grocery store and to TJ Maxx for some retail therapy. I have not been in that store since Covid occurred. DH joked he was surprised they hadn't gone bankrupt without me shopping there. My DGD made out like a bandit because I found some cute outfits for her as a belated Easter present (I don't do candy for them). GS's will get cash to buy what they want. I got a headband, 2 dish drainer mats for my countertop, and some new containers of hand soap. Wow, how exciting.

Our dinner was pleasant with DH, DD and DSIL. my DSIL acted as sous chef yesterday. So I had him decorate the ham with pineapple slices and maraschino cherries. After I par cooked the potatoes for the scalloped potatoes he arranged them in the bowl, seasoned them and then I finished with adding the milk, heavy cream and grated swiss cheese. These are his favorite so I wanted him to see that they are not that difficult to make. I taught him how to make the pineapple casserole (we ended up with 2 which is okay because we ate one with the meal). Lastly, he got to drizzle the asparagus with olive oil so we could roast them. He hated asparagus until I made them this way. He tried them initially to please me and ended up loving them. He made a German chocolate cake for dessert and it was so moist. They made up platters to take home for a repeat meal later. All in all a great day with great company. They brought me a yellow calla lily which is a favorite flower. I will summer it outdoors and then try to winter it in the house. Have a good day and hope all had a pleasant holiday.

I so enjoyed your entry Betrayal. Chuckled about the flop house sheets for sure. I am sort of miserable in gray and rainy weather and it happens fairly fast for me. Today the sun is out early and hopefully will stay all day. I am working on laundry and making up a give-away bag of clothing. There is also a challenge of some kind going on here -- and I will be getting back to my room today as well.

I do love the " periwinkle " and keep trying to get it going to a degree where hopefully the deer can't overwhelm it. I don't see them eating it -- but must be something else in the beds -- or they are just traversing territory .

Later this week, Thursday I will go see the 'good' Cardiologist. I'm anxious for the visit. Not only because I think her prescription changes have done me a world of good, but also because -- I'm still waiting on the great digital scale. If you recall -- we brought on home but found to our dismay it was a lemon. Called the floor, and they said they'd mail one out. We are still awaiting that. I finally called them and rather than let me pick one up ( I had an appt. at Marion to keep and could have ) they insisted on having someone right then and there mail one out. I am still waiting for it. It is irritating -- as here I am going back a second time to Marion. I'd like to find SOMEONE to authorize my picking up another one while there. If by chance one FINALLY arrives by stagecoach or however mail is being delivered where scales are concerned, I would just return it to the V.A. Fortunately with the med changes -- I seem to be doing fine so the only suffering is not being sure of what I'm seeing with my old scale which I did learn was 10#s off.

I have my first cardio appt. today that takes place with the V.A. Nutritionist over the phone. It is a 12 week program, and one of the benefits is getting help with foods and recipes for a low-salt diet. I'm doing okay for now, but lots of repetitions going on. Not too bad since I'm generally easy to please food wise.

Some time back when I did the " South Beach Diet " I learned to do w/o salt and sugar -- so parts of what I do now work out fairly good for me. The no-salt was not a brand new discipline and I fell back in rather easily. Also, I now have a slight sugar aversion. That is not such a bad thing either. I usually only will take three small bites of anything I find too sweet. So, life with drawbacks is not a drag for me if sometimes boring from some repetition.

I hope you all have a beautiful day.

Illinoislady, I nap in the recliner, too. It is comfortable. I haven't been on for several days and seems much is going on.

betrayal, yum. My Easter dinner was a bit of a dud. I miss the old days with all the families together. We would blend the East with the West. The Vietnamese would cook outside and I would cook inside. Others brought food from home. Unfortunately, so many have died and the family shrunk. No one came to see us old people and my husband can't go very far from home. So we made the most of it. All he wanted was ham and green beans, so that is all we had.

I had my second booster shot yesterday and felt fine. I went to senior exercise class at the gym and also did some shopping at Sam's Club. So I was unprepared for a horrible night with chills and, I suspect, fever. I covered up with a blanket and a quilt and had awful dreams of being in the military.

I have a medical appointment at 11 am and am hoping to feel well enough to keep it.

Betrayal, you seem to be a good gardener. I used to love gardening and spent time out in the yard most days.

Our Easter dinner was from Honey Baked. We got the turkey and 3 sides with Kings Hawaiian rolls. Sides were green bean casserole, sweet potato soufflé and mac & cheese. I’d totally recommend it. We added whole cranberry sauce and regular mashed potatoes with gravy. Totally enjoyed it.

Our 2nd boosters were a few weeks back. Moderna for me, left my arm swollen at the shot site. Partners Pfizer didn’t seem to do anything to him. But neither of us had any adverse effects from them.

We went to a new beach today. It was very quiet and the water was warm and shallow. That’s until around 4 pm when the tide was changing. The wind picked up and so did the waves. But it was a very peaceful place and we’d all (niece & daughter, partner & I) go back there again.

Tomorrow is our pontoon boat rental for half the day. We pick it up at noon. I’m hoping for a great day. Lunches made, cooler will get packed, beach bags with towels all set, bathing suits out and ready. It will be my first time driving a boat. Wish me luck! I have to stay on the back bay, no gulf boating. My plan is to get to the end of Lovers Key and anchor. Eat lunch, swim or float around and head back to the marina.
I too nap in our recliner. Some days by the time the evening news is on, I’m beat. The action of being reclined invites my eyes to close.

Alarm is set to get up early to get to the marina on time. Ladies, enjoy the day. Hoping the weather where you are is decent and for Jackie - at least some sunshine!!

I'm hearing several reports of more SE's from the second booster. Ken got his today but I put mine off for a couple of weeks because the next two look pretty hectic. He got Pfizer and I get Moderna like the first three rounds. If we're not going to do well, probably better we aren't both under the weather at the same time, as Mutz won't wait until chills and fever subsides. I will continue to get them as often as they are offered though. I don't think he could manage even mild Covid as his congestive heart failure is getting much worse.

It's already way too hot although I enjoyed my golf game today. Getting rid of the Covid weight seems to be helping my game - and believe me, my game needs help!

I'm still feeling frustrated with the site. Takes forever to load, hard to sign in and no favorites. Are you hearing us, Mods?

Sorry for being remiss about checking in here, but have had to spend insane amounts of time purging my webmail box for my main e-mail account (apparently, deleting messages while in Mail for OSX doesn't delete them from the RCN server). I kept getting "quota warnings" which I basically ignored till my social media/PR consultant messaged me that her e-mails to my address were bouncing because my mailbox was full. It literally takes 2-3 hrs/day just to stay ahead ot it. Making progress slowly--by now I've reached late Feb. 2020's messages (they show up as "unread" on my webmail).

Weather is distressing--rain every other day (except snow yesterday). Our handyman sanded & prepped our deck for re-staining, which requires two dry days in a row. Forecast says that's not gonna happen till at least 4/28. We will hit 80 on Sat. (hopefully, dry) so that's a good brunch day--IF Bob and the kids are all off, not a sure thing given the time he took off for the wedding and Easter (the guy who covers for him is observing Ramadan so not eating till the evening iftar).

Have a few appts.& errands this week. Today was my Hooked on Fish pickup, trip to jeweler to drop off watches for battery change and to Fix Your Kicks to repair my favorite UGG boots yet again--then out to Costco in Niles to fill my tank (an every-3-wks. trip now that seems depressingly often, though at least 50 cents/gal. cheaper than w/in Chicago city limits. That's the part of touring I miss--buying cheaper gas in WI, IA and IN. (Bob goes to IN from his furthest south hospital--the savings aren't eaten up by the extra miles driven).

Going to the Subaru dealership in the a.m. for my 41K mi. checkup. Bought 4 new tires only a month ago but the TPMS light comes on with distressing regularity, every couple of weeks--the front tires run low (the mechanic around the corner could find no nails or sidewall cuts, and I assiduously avoid potholes as much as I can--and go through them slowly if unavoidable. Streets are becoming a perverse slalom course, the point of which IS "missing a gate"). Then Thurs. is my MO appt/labs. (My a1c is fine, Mary, and my PCP and cardio are not worried about fasting glucose being around 120--I do my labs in the morning before visits and there's a phenomenon called the "dawn effect," in which glucose is released into the blood just before arising to provide energy).

Jackie, I envy being able to have a "sweets aversion!" Passover makes me crave those dang jelly rings and marshmallow twists (not to mention chocolate-covered egg matzo). The rest of the year I can eat low-carb or keto-friendly bread, but when it comes to matzo keto-friendly does not exist. Doesn't help that both Bob & my HK adore and crave the matzo brei (like French toast) I make. Speaking of HK, her DH's biopsy finally came back: a tiny neuroendocrine stomach tumor; no treatment other than semiannual surveillance. They're trying to manage the pain with Butibel or Donnatol elixir. (Heavy-duty "sympathomimetic" antispasmodic/semi-sedatives).

Back to the MO visit. Been 6-1/3 yrs. on letrozole. Latest recommendation on endocrine therapy is no more than 7 yrs. I will ask point-blank whether 8 more months would confer any disease-free survival advantage over stopping now. I'm not due for another DEXA till next year (at least Medicare won't pay till then), but I lost a dear friend at 71 to the cascade of decline after a hip fx. Getting tired of the carb-cravings, LDL & glucose (interrelated--the AI raised my LDL and the statin is raising my sugar and pumping out insulin, promoting fat storage) and slow metabolism too.

Jackie, don't sweat the "twilight sleep" for the colonoscopy: propofol ("milk of amnesia") works so fast that as soon as you feel the I.V. push you're awake again (or so it seems). No gas, no succinylcholine.

First time in years we didn't do Seder--Bob & the kids were working late both nights. We had an abbreviated Easter brunch (they had Zoom work meetings at 3pm and the earliest res. we could get in their 'hood was 1:30). Bob finally got to meet Dot, who took an instant liking to her "grandpa."

We're looking to travel for Memorial Day weekend (I will wear my mask in transit, idiotic unqualified inexperienced 35-yr-old FL Fed. judge be damned--I had more legal experience at 30, heck, nearly as qualified as her at 25). Hybrid immunity--Omicron followed by a second booster--is not necessarily foolproof. Gonna refill my Paxlovid Rx just in case. Hoping HGV's SF property is available--we just saw my sis and the DC area's case rate is spiking as high as NY; the Bay Area's case rate is lower than Chi. I don't want to do a staycation, as Bob would just park himself in front of the TV watching sports & Amazon Prime whenever we're not dining out or at a concert, show or game. If we can't stay at an HGV property, we'll at least use HHonors points to pay for half the hotel room. And the flights on SW to & from NOLA have long-legged Bob reluctantly admitting he needs to fly at least business class. (Heck, the kids flew first class).

Oh, and the only SE I had from my second booster/fourth Moderna was a red spot at the injection site. Second and third Modernas gave me mild fever & aches, gone in under 24 hrs. Bob will be eligible for his second Pfizer booster on Friday--90 days post-sotrovimab infusion.

Your last line, Sandy, reminds me of my friend who we met 15 years ago on a Road Scholar trip to the Italian Lakes Region. Marilyn always said” If you don’t fly first class, your children will.” And so we always do. We sit in 1A, 1B, are the last to board, so not everybody is passing by us, maybe coughing. We used to be the first off, but my left leg muscles and tendons have been giving me trouble(Arimidex?) Have just made reservations to meet San Fransico cousins in Asheville in early June.

Have been going to PT for leg and during one of the home floor exercises when I turned from right to left gave me a terrifying, walloping case of vertigo, repeated a few days later when I quickly turned my head from right to left to talk to someone at dinner. The whole room spun like on a Tilt A Whirl. Monday I went to a vestibular therapist- who even knew these existed?- for the Epley maneuver. Today, I go for a followup. Sort of horrible to be tilted backwards on a table, head sharply turned right and left to get ear crystals( of all things) to fall back into the proper canals. I used to look down, for some stupid reason, on physical therapy. Now it is how I spend my days

Only one person in a thousand knows the trick of really living in the present. Most of us spend fifty-nine minutes an hour living in the past, with regret for lost joys or shame for things badly done (both utterly useless and weakening) or in a future which we either long for or dread. . . . There is only one minute in which you are alive, this minute, here and now. The only way to live is by accepting each minute as an unrepeatable miracle. Which is exactly what it is—a miracle and unrepeatable.
