Wren...how odd, most of my dh's family turned gray really quite early.....a good start by mid-40's.  I never thought about it that much till I recalled one day that my Dad was well into his 70's before the little sides above the ears started turning a bit.  I recall thinking I hoped I'd be lucky like Dad --- who I don't think much cared either way and then as is my usual.....forgot all about it.  Thought of it again when I started talking about hair this morning.

I could see myself ( if and when I get gray enough ) coloring it either  a 'cool' shade of gray or even a not too bright 'white' color.  That would only take place though if I remember making this statement.  Guess I'll have to print this post out and save it forever.................or as I usually do with recall....just take my chances.

    Blessings

Sally, I improved my score by 17 strokes today.  It was cold, though not quite as windy as yesterday.  I think the high was in the low or mid 50's.  Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer but the possibility of showers has crept into the forecast.  I will definitely be "golfed out" by the end of tomorrow's round.

Jackie, I'm glad you like your new perm and cut.

Hope Globalgal is doing well after surgery and that Cami is feeling better.

Hi all, I'm still doing fine although I have some mighty fine bruises this time. The big Z shaped incision from the front of my shoulder down to the side of the left implant is pretty ugly because there are lots and lots of sutures and bruises almost down to my elbow. That's where the muscles were repaired so I guess there was a lot of bleeding during the procedure. The incision under my left "foob" is glued together again after pocket repairs and another new implant. Looks just fine. I've never had bruising there in any of my previous surgeries either. The original incision line is now pretty thick since it's been opened back up three more times, but Playboy is not knocking on my door, so who cares? Not me. On the right side, the PS did some liposuction to reduce the size of the "mudflap" (aka dog ear.) My goodness, the bruising is quite colorful there, below it, and around my side to my back.

In spite of all my new colors, there is no pain. Just a bit of discomfort which is to be expected at 5 days post-op.

Sandra....good to hear you are not so painful.  It also sounds like the areas that bruised the most may have been were there were maybe a lot of feeder capillaries to lose blood and though I hate to admit it......I think we gals who are well-seasoned just sometimes bruise a whole lot better than we once did.

Isn't it wonderful though to reach that point where YOU don't care that PLAYBOY doesn't want you.  I remember telling my Mom after we moved back home here that I was so relieved to be middle aged because I could now wear really comfortable shoes.  Of course, by that time they were making better looking ones than they use too, but it was a great benefit and joy to get there.

I hope today is good for all.

    Blessings

Wow Carole....17 strokes!  That's fantastic!  I hope you finish strong!

Cami....sure hope you are feeling better today!  Being sick is NO fun!

My medicare advantage insurance program offers the Silver Sneakers program.  It is a free exercise program for "seniors."  I can go to classes at the YMCA in town or join Curves.  I did the Curves program when it first started YEARS ago and liked it except for the machine where you were on your back and pressed the machine inward with your knees.  I finally quit the program because it bothered both my knees and my back.  Today I'm going into town to check out both programs and see exactly what they do offer.  I need to develop my core so that hopefully I can avoid future back problems and continue to be active with my golf and bowling.

Joan, we did not purchase a permanent home in Florida as we had anticipated.  We found the perfect home for us but the deal did not go through so we are once again renting next year for Jan, Feb, and March.  I'm not too disappointed as I think all things happen for a reason.

I hope everyone has a good Thursday!  It's dreary, overcast, and rainy here today but I have lots to do so hopefully the sun will decide to visit tomorrow!

Rita, I improved only 2 strokes today!  Alas, I did not win anything.  Two days of golf in a row are enough for me.  I was hardly "there" today!

Tomorrow I MUST get started painting the living room.

A question on a totally different subject. My RO is suggesting another mammogram at the six month mark. (Not surprised.) He says it will also be a good time to do a mammogram on the other breast, too. But my original mammogram that led to diagnosis was in December and he wants to schedule the mammogram for both breasts in September. This will be nine months and not a full year from the last one. I am old enough to be on medicare with supplemental insurance. Has anyone had trouble getting mammograms paid for when they are less than a year apart?

I will call the hospital as they may need to get it approved. But I'm curious about your experiences with this. I certainly don't want to pay out of pocket. Thanks for any experiences you have had.

My HMO is very careful to make them a year apart, so do check to make sure it will be covered. Your supplemental might cover it if medicare doesn't.

No info to offer on that matter, Mimi.  One reason I chose BMX was to eliminate all future mammograms.  I hated them.

We had thunderstorms last night and an inch and a half of rain.  It's still overcast and dark this morning.  We needed rain to knock the pine pollen out of the trees.  The little yellow pollen buds are all over the driveway.

I hope the weather has cleared by 1 pm when my mother has her hair apptment.

I have a free entrée at our club dining room for my birthday so dh and I are having dinner there tonight.  The menu offers an $18 filet with sides meal and also several fish selections for the same price so with one freebie, our bill will be very reasonable!  We don't eat out often because it's healthier and cheaper to eat at home and I like to cook and be in control of what I eat.

    Have a great Friday!

mimi...yes, be very careful on the dates on the mammo.  I would check with your medicare supplement insurance and see what they say.  Mine does not pay for more than one a year.  They are all different.

Ritajean - I was a Curves member for 2 years before I 'graduated' to Bally for 2 years.  Bally had an indoor walking track before LA Fitness bought our location & tore out that feature.  I was so healthy no one would believe it.  (Then I got cancer but that's beside the point)

I found at Curves I just skipped the machine that bothered my back too much.  No one seemed to mind if you jump out of rotation sequence.  I visited Curves in several different states to work out & met lots of interesting women.

    Joan,

I'm officially jealous! I grew up in St. Petersburg, FL so I was surrounded by baseball. Also my father played in the Minor Leagues until WWII put an end to his dreams, so he coached Little League and played in interstate leagues. My brother did too. I dated the guys who were in town for spring training. They had a curfew and none could have a car, so I would go pick my date up at night after bed check. He crawled out the window of the mom & pop motel where the guys stayed.

My daughter still lives in St. Petersburg and we will be going to visit in May. I try to get home at least once a year.

Sandra, that cartoon made me giggle ... thanks for sharing.

Joan, so you are warm and having an adventure ... you certainly deserve the treat as a reward for surviving the winter you have had.

Sandra, great story.  You are sounding good ... and hope you are feeling that way.

We are all flowers in the Great Spirit's garden.  We share a common root,
and the root is Mother Earth.  The garden is beautiful
because it has different colors in it, and those colors
represent different traditions and cultural backgrounds.

Yay for trips to Fla.  and even more so when you are a Yankee's fan.....or any of the ball clubs.  Living where I do it is the Cardinals for me.  Thankfully, we are in Spring here so it is not so hard to hear about a venture in Fla. or in any of the warmer states.  I am concerned a bit over what sort of Spring and Summer we will actually have, but whatever they are I plan to take it in stride and find enjoyment  in it.

Cam -- thinking of you and hoping you feel better soon.

    Blessings,

    Jackie

    Mimi -

Just had a 6 month mammo on my remaining breast. I, too, have a Medicare supplement.  As long as there's a medical reason, 6 months is no problem in my experience.  I'll have another one in another 6 months.

Probably different rules for screening mammos and diagnostic mammos.

    Have fun, Joan!  :-)

Wren...I imagine that you right about the different insurance rules for the different types of mammos.

Sandra...so glad to see you posting.  I hope that you continue to feel better every day!

Sending healing vibes to our friend, Cami.

Thanks minus for the Curves info.  I am going to check into them and see how they have changed.  In the meantime, I have signed up at the YMCA for their silver sneakers program.  They have regular "senior' classes three days a week and a yoga class on Tues.  I really need to do something proactive in my life!  I even went out and bought some new workout clothes.  If I find that I can't keep up with the others in the class....at least I will look decent.  :-)

    Hugs to all of you!

Yes, I used to get them every 6 months also!  But if it is a "diagnostic" mammogram, I think you have to pay a little extra....  I just got my annual diagnostic one, and had to pay a little...  It was on both breasts....  and all is okay!  Almost 5 years in October!

It's just nerve wracking, WAITING for the gal to come back with the results, but with the diagnostic one, they have the radiologist who reads it right there!    You don't have to go home and wait for the results.
