Good morning,
Going to get into the 80's here today. Makes me a happy camper. Have plenty to do to stay busy. Things are pretty well though. Sure glad this quote turned up this morning. It is one of my favorites. It does help me remember things I should.....and that in turn helps me get through some of the un-pleasant things and things I don't understand. I don't say why me very often, but the thought has caught up with and overtaken me a couple of times.
Sure hope everyone is going to have a really great Sunday. Where is Joan....haven't herd from her in a bit.
See you all later.
Blessings

The weekend was fun. Lots of visiting with family. A fair amount of eating. Almost no activity as in movement.
Looking forward to my ww meeting tomorrow morning and getting back into the swing of doing some needed work out in the yard and inside the house.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

This thread has been busy since Saturday night. I'm tired tonight after being on the phone with four appointments with Applecare since my computer got very sick late last night. They had to reinstall the operating system so I lost anything that is not backed up.
And it's been way TOO LONG since I backed up stuff. Just shows there is lots of stuff we can do without once it's lost. But at least I'm back in the world of friends on-line. So sorry to hear the blood issues and how diagnosis have been overlooked. Sometimes it seems health is a circle that goes round and round. So true, the hip bone is connected..etc, etc. Thank you all for the remarks about missing my kids today. My daughter did call early in the morning to recant her suggestion I stay home because she was too busy. But in the end I couldn't go because of the computer phone call appointments. So Tuesday is baseball night with the six year old. I've got my camp chair ready. I gotta get some sleep. They want some of my blood tomorrow for follow-up with the MO. I'm trying it at the hospital lab this time since the nurse upstairs hasn't had much luck with my arm. Sorry not too many personal notes for you all.

This is my real secret to being a joyful person: I make my life easy.
I spend more time being grateful for what I have instead of focusing
on what isn't working. I no longer believe that people have to
do things my way and that I have to be perfect.

Mimi,
Boy can I relate to those computer issues. Mine did something similar a little over a week ago. Mine was tied into Outlook Express.....which I had tried to update since I try and do updates on all my software. Well, Microsoft was no longer going to carry updates..........so seems like in ( of course, you are not warned before you start ) attempting the update I just boogered huge problems into my system.
Called Microsoft ( after getting expensive estimates elsewhere ) and they had two possibilities. A patch that I would have to buy yearly ( boo ) and a one time set up with a whole lot less bells and whistles. Well, the lifetime patch/program ( Outlook Express ) was $117.00 total and that is what I took. Ssssh, when the lady found out some of the things I do with my computer ( like the quotes I leave and for whom ) she gave me a version of Microsoft Office and installed it for me. That I think is one of the bells and whistles I would have gotten if I'd done the yearly thing --- no thanks. Didn't see the point of paying yearly.......and knowing that if I forgot I was going to go back to having system failures.
Golly, it is going to be so nice today. It is a bit cool outside right now, but will warm nicely through the day. My car and the tables on the deck are beginning to take on that thick looking green patina from all the pollens floating around in the air. So far, I've been able to avoid my medications for it, as I don't want to start too soon. Will have to take extra for sure.......but I'm ready and one of these days.
Hope you are all going to have a fantastic day.
Blessings

Mimi we just want to hear what going on, u don't have to address anyone.
Computers are wonderful, until u have a problem then they are u'r worst enemy totally--Unless u are a computer whiz (which a lot of people are) u'r stuck with whatever they tell u and want to sell you and do to your computer. How do we know? It's awful tho cuz when it's not useable for some reason I get so upset and yet just a couple of years ago I never used one and didn't think I wanted one- Then the addiction started, Oh just use it for fun , have a little time to enjoy--yea right it's always a scare when something doesn't work.

Hi Ladies,
Traveled to Odessa yesterday, did some shoping and had dinner at the Cattle Baron, early BD present for me and my DH. Saw the ONC today blood work good, he said my platletts were a little low but nothing to be concerned about just yet. He said I must be eating well, because my weight has stayed the same. I am over weight, but he says there is no use trying to loose while on the Tamoxifen, just try and keep it steady. Had my yearly Mammo . They did not do an ultra sound this time, so will know something in a few days. I think it is OK. We stayed at the Hope House last night, it is so quiet and beautiful.
Hugs to all.

Morning ladies,
Dh and I been awake since 3:30AM! Hate those nights.
Our senior players group put on our skits for another senior group yesterday. We have a good time, don't have to memorize the scripts, kinda like an old time radio show. We do fun ones like Carol Burnette, Fibber Magee etc.
Had computer problems myself yesterday, been getting some emails , not directed to my address, saying the person had bought something! Not I, so spent time with tech and blocked them. I was worried someone was trying to hack my email acct. Add more time cuz the tech was probably in another country, difficult to understand! hopefully its fixed. Also had snail mail from another company to someone who I never heard of, stating their Master Card was not accepted or their $300. purchase, so had to check and see if someone had tried to use my credit card, didn't find a problem. Coincidence?
Have cardiologist today, routine, also need to call and see what kind of mammo to have before my next surgeon's appt.
Beautiful day yesterday. Love the trees in bloom!
Have a good day , everyone.

Four hours working in the yard yesterday. Finished pruning the overgrown azaleas. Backache last night when I changed positions or got up to go to the bathroom. This morning I'm dressed and ready to go to the gym with dh after we've had a couple of cups of coffee. Didn't make it to the gym last week.
Hope to get some more yard work done later. Those 20 bales of pine straw are calling me name! I'll start spreading the pine straw on flower beds for mulch. Don't know where all this motivation came from!
Received a reminder card to make an apptment with my bc dr. for annual checkup. Need to make that apptment a little later when the office is open.
Happy Tuesday to everyone.

monnarch, great news on your test results. That always brings a sigh of relief.
bonnets, at least you were not awake alone -- like that is consolation. I seldom wake before I want to, but the few occasions I have its the pits. I really can't do much because Dh is a light sleeper so I lay there --- staying awake as much from the irritation of the forced need to be very quiet as anything else.
Carole...lots of energy -- good thing, You must be eating well. I think it is your Nutribullet. Well, don't know, but Dh and I feel better we think, when we keep up with our liquid veggies. He is always complaining when I skip it due to not finding the time to replenish at the store --- hmmm, hint,hint...he could go but he doesn't think of that.

Beautiful warm day here. Rain later in the week, maybe....but for now it is Ah weather. Hope you all have a fantastic day.
Blessings, Jackie

Hi all. I am feeling grateful for a fun Sunday. DS2, his DGF, and her son took me with them to see one of his daughter's dance in "The Little Mermaid." Getting back into the social swing has been hard for me since my dx. Sunday felt like a break through. This morning I am going to a meditation lesson provided by my cancer center ... feeling a little anxious ... anxiety seems to be the norm these days when I am reaching out socially.
Sending good thoughts to all of you.

Hi everyone
Mommarch - glad your tests were good
Jackie- the computer whiz in our family is only 12, but he is especially good with devices. When his brother started pre-school at 2 1/2,in a class where everyone else was 3or4, within a week he was the "computer tech" in the class. He knew how to put disks in and get them out, and could "reboot" the computers as necessary. The other kids had no idea what reboot meant.
Sally- glad you enjoyed family this weekend- it is so much fun watching our grandchildren perform, isn't it? My 12 year old GS was a nervous wreck this fall about his first violin recital. I told him the only ones that would be watching him were us,, everyone else there would be watching their child. Seemed to work, he wasn't nervous at the one last week.
I talked to my RO yesterday about my travel plans and she is going to see if they can up each day's treatment just a teeny bit and get me done the Fri before Memorial Day. If she can, I will have company to fly home with- one of my closest friends will be in Ga that weekend, visiting her brother and me, so I will just book the same flight back her.

After nearly 2 weeks at home, we're off on our next adventure tomorrow morning. We are looking forward to a leisurely drive to Florida, stopping whenever we see something interesting. We've never been able to do this on previous trips because we were working and had limited time. Being retired has it's benefits.
Today I'll cut up veggies for the trip, cool down some beverages for the cooler, and throw a few things in the suitcase. We've never in our lives left home without knowing exactly when we'd be back but this time we've told our son to keep feeding the cats and watering the plants until further notice.
I'll be taking my laptop so I'll check in from time to time.

Sandra, Sounds like a relaxing trip.
Anne, Good for your RO. I bet you'll be happy to be back home.

Sally, keep thinking about the break-through part from Sunday. Life goes on and we might as well join it.
Anne, I would be up for trying to get things to work out so as to travel 'with' someone. What fun.
Sandra, that is just the height of something good -- getting to just get in the car and nearly be a will'o'the wisp. Dh and I did something similar when we moved home here to my home town ( born and raised here and lived here until age 18. We did not get a car until I was in the 7th. or 8th. grade and it was not used for "just driving". You had to have a destination -- like Dr.'s office or grocery store. So, when we moved home and Dh would ask me about many of the surrounding towns here I would have to admit that I knew very little about them as I'd never been there. So, once we got moved in well and things handled.....we would go get in the car every couple of afternoons and just pick a direction and just take off driving. That is how I found out where I really live. What a hoot to wait until you are in your early 50's to visit all the little towns around you.
It was fun....like taking a trip. We would visit antique stores and try out restaurants and just act like tourists which we nearly were since we knew nothing about these places.
So, I say good for you. I think it will turn out to be a delightful vacation time and I do hope your back by Fall.
Enjoy !! Enjoy !!
Blessings,
Jackie

Hi everyone! I have been hiding out this weekend in my yard and on the golf course. I think I am ready to make a flower "run" now to get all the plants for my pots. I really love this time of year.
For those who asked...Here is the fluffy peach salad recipe. It is SO good and SO easy. We had only a couple of spoonfuls left the other night.
Fluffy Peach Salad: 1 can peach pie filling.....1 can Eagle Brand milk...1 medium-sized can of crushed pineapple drained.....1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows......1 medium cool whip
Mix well and place in the refrigerator for at least four hours before serving! It makes a generous serving. We had 10 guests that night.
Sandra...enjoy your trip! I love trips that are not done on schedules but are flexible. You can find the neatest things to see!
Sally...so glad you're starting to get back into the social swing of things. It takes time to deal with everything and I had a hard time with social settings too at first. Everything improved so much, though, when I finally made myself get out and do what I could.
Carole, please send some of your motivation to Illinois! I seem to get started on something and then get side-tracked and get nothing completely accomplished! :-)
Well, I'm off to rake up a few more walnuts from the yard so I can move tomorrow afternoon.
Sure hope everyone had a great weekend and that you're all doing well!

Sandra, your trip sounds like fun. If you're driving anywhere close to Madisonville, LA, before June 18, maybe we can arrange to get together for lunch or coffee. I'll PM you my phone numbers.
Sally, it takes a while but eventually we bc survivors get back into the swing of things.
Jackie, I love your account of how you and your dh did sightseeing in your own general vicinity. We all need to do that.
I am pooped tonight. The combination of gym workout and 2 1/2 hours of yard work has tired me out. I went for my annual eye checkup this afternoon and am relieved to say everything was ok for my age.
Sending Rita some motivation!
Greetings to everyone.

Anne, glad your RO is willing to work with you on scheduling.
Sandra, have a great trip ... keep us posted on your interesting stops.
Hi Wren.
Jackie, your story about investigating around you was very interesting and sounded like a lot of fun.
ritajean, thanks for the peach recipe ... sounds yummy.
Wow Carole ... the gym and lots of yard work ... Wow!

Yum, that peach recipe sounds good and I'm thinking of trying it this weekend. DD and family are headed to the lake house with me to share the Mother's Day weekend. About the computer...you all know they had to completely wipe of all my "stuff" and give me a blank slate. It's sort of liberating to have all the old baggage removed from the computer and just start new. Many things may be lost, but I can't even remember what they are. And lot of things are stored other places in my emails etc. But imagine my surprise when I went to print and it said NO PRINTER software. But I am feeling proud that I figured out how to fix the problem and reinstall it. I'm getting geeky!
Jackie you quote about gratitude is so nice. I love the word. When the hospice chaplain came to visit 30 days after DH passed he asked me how I felt. The only word I could put forth was "gratitude". Meaning gratitude for a husband who loved and cared for me for 37 years until he could no more. We see so many women, my mom included, who did not have that luxury that I know how lucky it is. Of course there are other emotions, but that one tops my list every time. From that small exchange the chaplain deducted I would be fine. BTW my mom would be 97 today if she were celebrating her birthday.
Tonight I went to my first little league game in about 25 years. Now the six year old grandson is up at bat. It's so much fun when they don't keep score, everyone gets on base, every chlild bats in every inning and the adults pitch until every one gets a hit. My kind of baseball. And one more thing - I got to face paint 15 four year olds today to practice for my big event Thursday night. My goal was to do all 15 in 45 minutes. Met my goal and all the kids were delighted. Permission to hug the clown was granted by the teacher and the class picture has smiling lions, tigers and giraffes. Also two girls wanted snakes across their face and a little fellow selected a rainbow with a flock of birds across his forehead. Four years olds are awesome.

Mimi, painting the children's faces sounds like a lot of fun.
Another sunny day here but we're supposed to get some much-needed rain by Fri. Even if my Fri. golf gets rained out, I won't mind.
Happy Wed. to all.

Mimi, what fun for the kids. Are you going to post the picture? I would love to see it.

"Today
is a brand new day. A fresh start. Replace any negativity with positivity.
Think happy thoughts. Exercise. Drink lots of water. Fill your body with fuel.
Healthy is happy. Inspire yourself. Create. Laugh. Play. Love. Learn. Give
someone a compliment. Make a new friend. Do a random act of kindness. It
creates good karma. Take chances and finally start living life to its fullest.
But no matter what's thrown at you today, smile and remember, tomorrow's always
a fresh new start."--

Thank you Mimi......for sharing how gratitude fits so well into your life. I think it is one of those things that if you have it.....it will be much harder to cry over spilled milk. I had to learn how to grateful so it came a little later in my life than I would have liked.
Even at that I am a great proponent of your life arranging itself so to speak, so that those things that it would be wonderful to have in it, come at the proper time which in fact, usually is not the time you think is right. Hopefully it turns up when it can be understood and appreciated fully. So, the $250,000.00 lottery that I'm going to win has not arrived yet and for which I will be so extraordinarily grateful. Until then, I'll have to make do with a train load of great friends, sunshiny days and people who stop me and tell me what a nice thing I've done when I fed the feral cats. This did happen a couple of days ago.
It is one of the few times anyone has paid me the wonderful compliment of noticing that every day I go feed cats . A pastor from one of the local churches told me " I saw what you did over there, and it made it such a wonderful morning for me too ". Well, I am still walking on air. Most people have nothing much to say.....other than perhaps, here comes that crazy woman. Sigh !!!! In the eye of the beholder is my thought.
Anyway, I hope each of you have a gorgeous day. I'm planning on making sure my cupboard has the right ingredients for Rita's Peach Salad too.....................yum. Its a right up my alley kind of recipe.
Blessings,
Jackie

Well, late as usual. We had a camper caravan at the shop today. Was a fun time. We make a wisk for each couple and charge $10.00 for each broom. We used to do it for nothing, but since we started making brooms 14 years ago broom corn had went from .99 a pound to 3.09 a pound.
Yesterday was not a good day,. guess I just over did it with going to Odessa and all the places we went to. Feel better today.
Hope everyone is doing OK, need to get to bed

I'll try to get some pictures of kids in face paint tomorrow night. But since my computer crashed I have no way to put them here until IPhoto disk arrives in the mail. I need parent permission to share, but I know none of you gals will be posting them publicly so no worry here. My menu includes tiger, cheetah, snake, butterfly, giraffe and rainbow with distant birds in flight. I expect to paint 30 kids, but there will be many more. There is another painter, too. So today I made 100 balloon bracelets of turtles and ladybugs for kids who cant get painted because of show time limits. There will be other entertainers too, I'm hoping my friend comes to be a "line wrangler". I'll give paper bracelets to the first 30 kids in line and only they should stay. Sure don't want them to wait and find they need to get into the auditorium at 7:00 and stood there the whole time. I can't say I make money at this, but it sure is fun.

WWW.SweetMimiTheClown.com. The uppercase letters are not necessary, but make it easier to read.
Here is my very elementary website but no Facepaint there yet.
