asschercut - You painted a truly beautiful picture of Australia for us. I read that and thought "ok, we will retire there" then I read vivre's post about the snakes and NO way am I going there. I'm petrified of snakes. I have nightmares about snakes a lot!!!! flying snakes. snakes all over the house, snakes chasing me etc. When we vacationed in Arizona last year I was constantly looking for snakes Yell. lol. I lived in Az when I was a kid and didn't give snakes a second thought!

Amen to live your life the best you can!!!!!

Question: How do you gals get enough protein? I was drinking whey shakes but I read about how you should only drink organic whey (which is very expensive) and it is impossible to find any without soy. I don't eat beef and I know most don't here. So where's the protein?????

All, to get access to the picture forum, you need to contact TimTam, and she'll advise on what to do next. Above in the red header is a link called "Member List". Click on that and search for TimTam. Then PM her!

I haven't posted my rads experience in this forum - but I saw there were some posts about the damage the rads can do to lungs, heart, etc.  I did rads about 18 months ago at NYU Cancer Center - their program for early BC patients is done in the prone (face down into the machine) position and the breast is radiated from beneath the table so that the only part of the body getting rads is the breast - they also give 15 treatments vs. 33 on the back - there is over 15 years of data showing this program as effective as the 33 on the back and without the SEs - no radiated ribs, lungs, shoulders, heart, etc.  I searched for this program in the DC area where I live but had to go to NYC - SK and NYU have the program as well as MDA in Houston and UCLA.  Doctor at NYU is Silvia Formenti fyi - hope this helps someone!

Vivre - the snakes don't roam the city streets, so most of Australia is perfectly safe and snake free. The spiders, on the other hand....

What speech from Kevin did you read? (we all call our prime minister by his first name, because he is such a comfortable nerdy sort of person!)

Victoria I am having treatment at the Epworth in Richmond. Where are you? Sorry to hear you are having such a nasty pre-radiation experience.

I have been wracking my brains, to figure out a way to raise money so our girls here can see doctors who specialize in hormone testing etc etc, I know for me having an extra $1,000 for the initial tests, appointments etc was not easy, for some here its flippin impossible, wouldn't it be great to see money raised for BC awareness used in this manner? Thinking aloud here!  Its my mission to see if I can make this happen, somehow.... Cleo, if I have to sell cupcakes on the side of the street, I will see if I can raise money for your appointment!!

Fairy, while you're raising money see if you can raise some for me! I'll help bake those cupcakes!  I just stupidly spent $500 on some (blood) hormone tests (he doesn't do saliva) and thyroid tests that my GP convinced me to have so that I could take these tests to another MD ND that I found only to find out that this Naturopath MD isn't taking new patients! So Friday, I'll have results to hormone tests and thyroid tests that my GP doesn't know how to read..how's that for frustrating. The thought of spending another few hundred on proper saliva tests and whatnot  on a "retiree" budget is freaking me out! And to top it off, I still can't find anyone to help me sort out what my levels are and what things I should be taking etc... Montreal is not a small backwoods city - you'd think finding someone would be easy ... NOT!!!!

It is all way expensive. We are basically living hand to mouth to try and keep up with all of the bills, bills, bills. It was bad enough with one cancer patient in the house, but now we have two. YIKES. We are maxed out. Sign me up for baking cupcakes!!

Terri - I found this website "Quebec Association of Naturopathic Medicine and Naturopathic Doctors in Montreal" maybe you can find a doc through them?

Fairy with the new nips: You stated exactly what I have felt for a long time, that the money needs to be redirected. I hope that my site will eventually attract some sponsors and we can do exactly what you just said.  I would love to see if I can get people to offer services in exchange for listing them on my site. So how do I get in touch with this Dr. Tenpenny to see if we can make a deal?

Off on a tangent: I just read the strangest thing via the iodine group:

    http://www.lymephotos.com/index.shtml

You know there are theories that cancer is a virus or bacteria. Well these folks swear there are all kinds of "things" inside us that can be forced out by vit C and salt! It is almost funny, but then again, it makes some sense and I am almost willing to try this protocol since it seems innocuous. Heck I am my own gunea pig as it is. What is there to lose? The reason I am intrigued is that my last little health hurdle is post nasal drip. It drives me nuts and nothing seems to get rid of it. I know there is some bacteria connection. What if there are some little "thingys" living in my sinuses? So next week, I just may try this.

Hey resident geek: what do you think about the biology of this whole salt and C thing?

Did someone ask about sources of protein? Nuts, lots of nuts.

Hey gals, interesting stuff.  Fairy, glad you are feeling well.  Terri, I can feel ya on this.  I searched hi and lo and thought I finally found someone great and spent a lot of money just for them to near put me back in the hospital w/ thick clotty blood and a handful of hormonal numbers that don't make sense.  Its so frustrating but I am not giving up on finding a great ND.  I have a new lead.

viv, I think that is awesome.  I have a theory that we should have salt in our systems since we came from the sea as ungulates - the iodine supports this - also pools using salt water too.  Its far out but something I think about.  I don't know very much about vitamin c at all but I can tell you that I took vitamin c and d daily for a while way way before I got 'sick' and never felt better (I ran out of OJ and stopped taking all vitamins).  I guess that happens.

...also, you DO have living organisms in your sinus, they are called macrophages (sp?) and the histamine responsiveness gets them moving and fighting bacteria for you and even though the drippiness is annoying, I always tend to stay away from anti-histamines (except of late w/ the chemo) but getting to the root cause is smart.  it's like when you cut yourself and watery liquid forms, its to let the bacteria fighters travel to the wound - so your theory totally makes sense to me but Im no medical dr, just an old biology gal.

Thanks Geek! (I hope you know I mean this with the upmost respect). I agree with you that it is not a good idea to just try to treat the symptoms. I want to figure out what the heck is causing this PND. That is why this protocol was so intriguing. I am already sold on the idea that salt heals because the iodine protocol has made me feel so much better. My doctor told me to use Vit c and mag as a natural colon cleanse. So putting 2 and 2 together, may do the trick. Especially since that website said that all these micro organisms love to live in our heads. Anyway, what will it hurt to try? When my kids are gone next week, I am going to try it. Oh, and I think I will check out Dr. Brownstein's book, "Salt your way to Health". I have been meaning to read it, and this just seems to be a good tie in.

By the way, the fact that that site is not selling anything makes me believe it more.

That is interesting, Ill have to pick up the book - it totally makes sense to me..  Just make sure you have potassium to balance out the salt thing - and lots of water to get the isoelectric balance.  Have you tried anything homeopathic for th PND?  Curious as to how you do.  A friend of mine suffers with allergies to no end and once I find a good ND for me, Im sending her to them.

Hello Girls, I have been off the thread for awhile. My husband passed away last month from lung cancer, and copd.  I 'am lost without him, No husband, No boob, no one to tell me that I'm still beautiful without one. Where do you draw the line, like I'm going back to work, do I tell them that I had breast cancer, and a mast? I even thought, maybe if I had a new boob, put on, I would not have to tell them anything,. I'm I considered a Breast cancer surviorer? I never lost my weight yet, but now I can concentrate more on that.. I was so sorry to hear about Fla-lady what a brave women. You all are so brave and smart. Thank you for being on this thread. God Bless

PS-I tried some fenugreek(or is it Geek?) LOL and a nasal spray that I got from an herbalist. I also tried the netti pot thing, but  I keep forgetting to do it twice a day, plus I really hate doing it. If I do it late, before bed, I get water in my ears and earaches. Like you said,  I have been less about just trying remedies and more about figuring out the cause. That is why the bacteria thing has me so intrigued. I know this site is talking about lyme disease, but bacteria is bacteria, Right?

Oh, I did talk to an ND but he thinks it is diet related. I just do not know how I can clean up my diet any more, except maybe give up chocolate. Can't I have at least one vice? If I quit the choc, and this thing went away, then I would know that I cannot have any more choc. I am afraid to try it!

Smallworld, I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Sometimes life just sucks! My friend lost her Dad to lung cancer last week too. There is just too damn much cancer. But do not give up. We have work to do. We need to get ourselves healthy so that we can all be examples that there is life after cancer. We have to be living proof that diet, supplements, and a positive attitude do make a difference. We are one team here, and we need to keep going for the win. Small, you now have the time to make yourself your priority. Make your DH proud that you survive, for as long as you do, he is not forgotten. Remember that. God bless you both.

Seaotter: for the protein whey powder, I have been using the Progressive brand from New Zealand.  No soy.  It's from hormone free cattle, tested for pesticides and contaminants.   Supposed to be the purest and cleanest.  I feel much more alert since I have been adding just 1/2 a scoop to my morning veg/fruit smoothy.

Is anyone besides me trying to overdose on natural aromatase inhibitors?  I have been trying to drink as much organic chammomile tea as I can and try to remember to eat an apple a day.  Is this wrong?

Hi, everyone... I'm about to try again to sleep but wanted to jump in and introduce myself.

I'm Julie, and all I know at this point is that I have breast cancer (a 3mm to 5mm lump plus BI-RADS 5 microcalcifications -- biopsy in a week) and that I want to treat it as naturally as possible.

I just spent the last 2 hours and 45 minutes crying over being scolded about wanting to do natural treatment (nutrition/supplements, lifestyle changes such as exercise and getting sunshine every day) instead of chemo, and it looks like this is the thread for me!!

I'm 38 years old, happily married for 7 years, unhappily have no human children, but happily a mom to three hilarious Standard Poodles. Laughing (They got up and kissed my tears away when I got out of bed crying earlier!)

So nice to "meet" all of you; I just wish it were in better circumstances!

OH!!! I have been taking 400 mg of CoQ10 since I first heard the words "I think you have breast cancer" two weeks ago. At that time, this lumpie in the boobie was 5cm. Today's doctor said it's 3 to 4 cm. Coincidence? Hmmmm, time will tell..... *cue mysterious music*
