Thank you for the healing energy and prayers for Monday! I will think of this while I am waiting to go into surgery and I know it will really help as it did last time.
Thanks!

hlth-Thanks so much for posting that information about your estrogen levels. I had no idea how they figured the ratio. Now I can see compare my numbers. I had a very high DHEA level, but my doctor didn't think it was worth worrying about. I'm not sure if she has much experience with cancer. She is an Internal Medicine doctor who dispenses bio-identical hormone prescriptions. It seems each doctor only knows so much, in one particular area. And my oncologist discounted the studies on the vitamin D3 when I brought it up. He's probably changed his tune since it's all over the news these last few months.

makingway-
Just a note - my levels were from a 24 hr Urine test - so if your tests were done on blood /saliva- the actual values would be hard to compare. Hopefully, the message will still apply that there are natural alternatives to accomplish the goal of reducing the "bad" estrogens/metabolites and increasing the good ones.
It is hard finding the "one" doctor with that broad based knowledge. I think functional medicine comes the closest to my "ideal", just wish those visits and tests were always covered by my insurance

Dear Luna,
My husband's snoring was cured by using a saline rinser. Some people buy a neti pot, but he bought the bottle with the squeeze top. It works under pressure and has been miraculous. It is amazing. We are both sleeping better too. Of course I take my melatonin which puts me into a bit of a coma!

Railli,
Your retelling of the day is so vivid. I think we have all had days like that where we hit our limits and simply melt down.
I hope you do not have to give up your kitty. What will happen to your kitty? Do you have a new home for her? Families should stay together.
Modern medicine is all about chemistry; the science of chemistry and it's effects on our bodies. But they have forgotten about physics, an entirely different concept. We have personal vibrations, electric states, that are not addressed by chemistry. Homeopathy is a good example of a medical construct that operates within the concept of physics as a medical instrument. In homeopathy, just one molecule in billions of inert molecules has a measurable vibrational factor that affects the body.
When you feel overwhelmed as you did try and remember that there is so much going on in this crazy place, we cannot control everything.
Take "meditate" off your "to do list". By leaving it on your list it is substituting for actually doing it. I promise you that you will slip into a meditative moment before you know it.

MsBliss, thanks so much for the advice and reassurance. I'm still having a hard time with things, and gobbling the Rescue Remedy pastilles like there's no tomorrow... hoping things get better soon. I started radiation today and hated it, but I sang little healing songs to myself (in my head!) throughout and tried to breathe well.
My parents are letting my cat come with me when I stay with them in April, and my secret hope is that they will just let my cat continue living there even after I move to a new apartment...we'll see. My other choice would be to find a lonely elder person who would like a cat, because mine is especially sweet and affectionate, loves to cuddle, doesn't run/jump around like a maniac and thus would be easy to care for. She just loves to love people!! If I can't keep her, I at least hope to find her a new home where I can visit her often!
Hey, I remember there was a conversation about coconot oil in this thread a while back...
I'm baking sweet potatoes for dinner, and I do this by scooping some coconut oil out of a jar with my hands then rubbing it all over the sweet potatoes before putting them in the oven. Then I'm left with lots of coconut oil on my hands... so I just rubbed the extra all over my radiated breast!!! Is this a bad idea??

I just want you guys to know that I will not be participating around here anymore. One of my friends got banned for stating her opinion, got ganged up on and banned, and I am sick and tired of this nonsense. I need to spend time on my own site where I hope to be able to help people without having to deal with the animosity. I have been fighting it for two years, and I have had enough. I hope that you will all continue to help any newcomers and each other, and join me on my new site. We have a group set up for alums of natural girls, and we are starting lots of others. It is still a work in progress, but I am very happy about the direction we are going and I think we will be able to grow a wonderful community of like-minded people. We hope our site will be more upbeat and inspiring and I am happy that I will be able to discuss health issues without worrying about what I say for fear I will get blasted. We need to be activist for our freedom of choices in health, and that will be a part of our site too. I hope you will keep in touch. God bless you all.

raili, great news about your cat. Hope the short term solution for your cat turns into longterm, or better yet, hope you find a place where you can live with her.
Ladies, I wonder if you can give me a reality check on something off topic. I''ve had my panties in a knot over the way my bank is handling overdraft fees that resulted from an unauthorized charge. My latest statement showed an unauthorized charge, which was reversed 3 days later, but overdraft fees occurred in the interim. I called to report the unauthorized charge and requested the overdraft fees to be waived. I asked how this could happen. She said, oh, it happens all the time. Person #1 said she'd inquire and call me back. Later that day I called back because I'd forgotten to get the person's name and to make sure that they were aware that I'm not a customer of that merchant, so it's not just a botched transaction, they shouldn't have my card number at all. That was person #2.
Still waiting a week later for a callback, I followup and ask for Veronica, person #1. Person #3 says he needs the last name to locate 'veronica', which I didn't know. He looks up my record and tells me the request for waived fees was denied! He started sounding like a robot and kept repeating that it's not a bank error. I get transferred to person #4 and hear more of 'not a bank error' mantra, request is denied. I am absolutely livid by that point. She suggests I contact the merchant. At that point played the cancer card, told them I'm not a well person, I barely have energy to get out of bed in the morning, how can I be expected to pursue this, I requested reasonable accommodation. Person #4, Natasha who-refused-to-give-her-last-name, finally consented to ask the vice president again to waive the fees. She at least called me back to tell me 'denied' one more time and to contact the merchant. I asked for the vp's name, who of course was 'in a meeting'. I asked for a callback, and that never came either.
Their denial threw me completely off balance and triggered ptsd for me. It never occurred to me that they would do anything BUT waive the overdraft fees. It wasn't my fault! Doesn't that count?? Are there any bank people on this thread? Anyone else who's been treated this way as a customer? If my expectations are too high, it might be prudent to find out before I go on a letter writing rampage.
Another aspect in all this is my brain failing to put pieces together. I finally did contact the merchant to request reimbursement of my fees, which they denied, but at least they were courteous, and even helpful, suggesting that my card number appears to have been stolen. duh! It doesn't take a mental giant to realize this, yet, two whole weeks went by and this possibility hadn't penetrated my brain. Sure enough, I went in friday to check my activity, and four more charges were on my account. At least I know why my brain failed to put the pieces together -- chemobrain is still with me after all this time. ...so why didn't it occur to persons 1 through 5 (6 including the vp) at the bank to suggest I cancel my card?? I've said it before, I'll say it again -- I feel like I live at the end of the earth sometimes.0 -
althea- Welcome to my world! That stuff happens all the time. I no longer have a bank account because of a mistake my bank made, then months later wanted me to pay for. Seeing how the world functions is disheartening. It's all about the money. Rarely does anybody do a deed out of sheer kindness, compassion or just to do the right thing. There's always a self-motivating factor involved. Alas, I still have my integrity. I do what 'I know' to be right, fair and compassionate. I will not succumb to be a scum.0

Vivre-I know of what you speak because I too was banned at one time. Shssshhh don't tell anyone. It's rather discouraging tring to relay information to people not wanting to hear it. Please email me your website so that I can stay involved with like-minded individuals.
Thanks

Dear Raili,
I hope that your parents fall in love with kitty!
I am very pro coconut oil, but I don't know what is best for rads and boobies! I have heard wonderful feedback using aloe vera though!
Keep singing those songs and be well!

vivre - I am sorry to see you go and at the same time I totally understand. Please pm me your site addy.
To be honest it doesn't surprise me in the least when I see how rude some of the women are on this site because they can hide behind the anonymity of the net. I have checked out a number of different topics on this site and some of the responses just get my blood boiling. A little courtesy goes a long way and you can disagree with people without being a shrew and a jacka**s.
Vivre you will truly be missed.

althea - I work at a bank. I can not believe what you are going through! I would go to your nearest branch and talk to the manager (no one else) explain it all again. If that doesn't work take your money out and take it to your nearest credit union. I hope it all works out. Please nothing is worth getting stressed out about!!!!
Be well, Patty

Althea ~ It sounds like your bank's employees have been drilled about not giving into requests to have some of their new higher fees reversed, and are no longer using common sense. If the charge that started the domino effect of OD charges was fraudulent, there's no way you should be responsible for those OD charges! You did nothing wrong. Patty is right on about talking to someone in charge in person. Hopefully, he/she will be able to unravel it. What idiots! When I was on chemo and in that brain fog, I had a mortgage payment check go missing (heaven knows what I did with it), and our bank assured me that if it had been stolen and ended up being cashed by someone other than the rightful payee, I would not be responsible for it or for any overdraft fees that might result. I just don't think those bank clerks you spoke to totally understood the extent of your problem, and will pray that the manager you talk to has more common sense.
vivre ~ (if you're still reading) Who got banned??? Was it over alternative tx or political stuff or ??? You know I hate to see you leave BCO, not only because of your wealth of knowledge, but because of the way you empower others to seek answers that make sense for them. Of course, I'll see you on your website, but I still feel some need (albeit w/mixed emotions due to my own need to break away from daily bc talk) to be here to support my friends here, as well as newly-dx'd women. But I certainly understand where you're coming from, and admire your determination to create change where it's needed. You truly are an inspiration! Deanna

Hi Ladies, I'm new to this board
I need some advice. I will talk to my Onc about this but I don't see her until mid April.
I just had BMX, chemo and I am over 10 days past my last chemo. I'm done with chemo (hopefully) I am very interested to know when can one start taking supplements? I would like to start taking vitamin D and start drinking green tea, fish oil, B12, etc. Can anyone help me on this? I don't want to mess with the chemo that still maybe in my system. I do want it to do it's job but I can't wait to start detoxing. Thanks in advance for any input.

Wanted to thank you again for all the prayers and healing thoughts. Surgery went very well. So far, I think I am going to be VERY HAPPY with my new breasts.
Only one try on the IV this time! YAY! Thank you for the prayers and good wishes for that too.
Will read all the posts I've missed over the last couple of days later.
Need to go sleep now....but did want to stop by and let you know I thought about all of you and your prayers and thoughts while I waited 4 hours to go into surgery and especially while the IV was being put in. I also prayed for all others having surgery and other tests and procedures and awaiting results.
Going to sleep now.

Raili, I had thermography. It was quite a bit more expensive than $100 per pass. I paid for two thermograms and they are supposed to be done about 3 months apart to get your baseline. Where I live, they are extremely expensive, but I think part of the cost is for the doctor who is trained to read them and do the report. I would definitely recommend the thermography despite this. When thermograms were first marketed, conceptually it sounded great, but it was a bust. They were not done or interpreted properly. But now they are much more sophisticated and the science is better understood. My obgyn is going to start performing and recommending them! He says the time is right for them now--especially since mammography guidelines have been revised and women need some sort of screening net.

Thank you Deanna and Patty for the kind words. What's really chapping my hide in this is not just the rude treatment from the first line people answering the phone. It's a vice president that's making the final decision and she's the one being hardnosed. Patty, I am so relieved to know that I'm not out of line in expecting those fees to be waived. Yesterday I had moments of doubt over putting energy into complaining. What if, I wondered, they ALL suck and do this kind of thing? I've gathered the vp's supervisor's name and address and also the bank president's.
The good news in all this is I'm actually finding energy to even contemplate a letter of complaint. I got socked with an unfair fee 2 years ago by the city and I didn't have energy to do anything more than make a phone call that went nowhere.
Luna, great to hear your update. So glad you're happy with the results and doing well.
cancersucks, most conventionally trained doctors know little or nothing about supplements and they usually handle questions with cautions to stay away from them. Surgeons might know a bit more, since some substances can thin blood and that's not a good thing in the middle of surgery. One of my favorite authors that answers the kind of questions you have is Dr Ray Strand. I started a thread with notes from his book on nutritional medicine a while back. Antioxidants is in the title of the thread, so if you use the search tool to look in this section, you should be able to find it.
