    Hi Sisters,

Late again!  My grandson wouldn't quiet down and go to sleep.  He's very excited because my mom and my sister who lives in Ireland are at my house visiting for the weekend.  My sister only comes to the states about once every couple years, so I've been telling him stories about Aunt Ann.  One of those stories is that the big pumpkin we bought last month that has been sitting on the porch will become a Jack O Lantern when Aunt Ann gets here because she is a good artist and will help him draw and cut out the pumpkin.  So when my sister and I picked him up from daycare, he squeeled with delight that Pumpkin Aunt Ann was finally here.  LOL  I did warn my sister, who gamely went along with the pumpkin drawing and tomorrow morning - the carving.

I've read all the postings and am continuing in amazement at the beauty and spirit in this thread and in each of you.  Love the stories about post-death and near-death experiences and visions.  Have to admit that thinking about dying for me is more sad than scary - I'll miss everyone here.  I don't want to be crossing over anytime soon - need to be here a while longer.  Hope I get to be the 90 year old grandparent!

Hugs to all of you - I'm pooped out tonight and am hitting the sack.  My sister loves to shop and after the pumpkin work in the morning, we're going to the stores at The Walk in Atlantic City.  Rented a wheelchair for my mom and figure that by the end of the day, I'll be in the wheelchair with my mom on my lap and my sister pushing!  Geez, I hope not!

    Pat,

I love your sweet sweet story of your grandson. I don't have children, and I bet the fun parts are truly fun. (I know there are other parts too :) Remember back when we were little ones, and how magical it all was? I think I would spend a lot of time re-creating those moments for my kids. You are walking the walk Pat. I hope you get to be a 100 year old grandparent! and that your Grandson will delight in taking Grams to The Pumpkin Patch to choose the Pumpkin for his children, your Great Grandchildren. Have fun tomorrow, and make sure you take rests along the way.

    geewhiz,

Children, with their wonderful innocence and open minds are much more apt to see and share experiences with our loved ones who have passed. It's like they were giving you testimony, and I hope that we all can receive great comfort from it. Such a beautiful story.

Haev been one of the quiet ones lately.

Paula so happy that you have them staighted out, sounds like they are taking it very seriously. I believe you have made it better for those that follow. some place in the building is a paper that defines "Patients Right" other than that you can pull it up on the internet.  Someone mentioned it about the rads doc being on the premises, there is something in memory that this true. I think you should ask your surgeon about the lump. There is a radiation thread. Raise the question there? You need a better answer then you are getting. Is it solid? does it pulse? does it squish?

Michelle will prayer for recovery----Was it you who said they had sciatic and band pain across the pelvis after surgery. Two thoughts 1 improper positioning on the table  2. pyriformis syndrome.since all the tests are done. youc ould ask your doc if there is any reason you could't do some stretches. One in particular is the definitive one for pyriformis. Lay on your back on a reasonably firm matteres. take the heel of the leg that hurts and put it on the otherside of the knee of the good leg. Take the good side had and place it on the knee  of the bad leg. Gently pull torwards the 1 o'clock position. hold for 15-20 seconds. You should feel a stretch in the butt at the area just above the fold. Do this several times. If it immediately starts to feel better then its pyriformis. Then Repeat so that the pull is towards 12 o'clock position. same then with 2 &3  o'clock. Everything is gently done. Pyriformis is a muscle that holds the hip joint inplace in the hip. It can go into spasm and cause the symptoms you are describing. It is dx's by physical exam by someone that understands how to do it. It will not show up on any radidiolgy testing. The first physical exam thing is to put pressure on the buttock about 2 inches above the fold with the examiners thumb. They are a few more physical things that can be done to confirm dx. Your doc may want you to see a pain mgt doc for the exam. There are several levels of treatment. First is the stretch, another is to not sit for long periods without doing a stretch, No long rides by car or plane, no twisting like skiing.  Myofascial relief massage by PT. Last ditch for only the most severe cases is surgery to cut the muscle. Only a very small % get that far.

Streching is amazing in what it does. Once the spasm is realized you should feel relief right away. If it has been a longstanding issue for months the muscle may feel sore after spasm is released. alternate cool and hot packs if doc suggests. Hope this works for you

To all if you get the flu vaccine consider getting it in the butt if you have had bmx. Even if you have't had lymph node dissection on one side. LE has been known to occur on the side without SLN done. My instincts are to not add another unknown .I had The shot this week and had SE.. very glad I got it in the butt. The butt site is ok, but you will hear them say they usually give it in the arm.   But that doen't make the butt site a wrong site.

Theresa hope your are getting everything figuired out at work. The prayer paula wrote described my 2nd last boss to a tee. Very evil person. If it's something you think you need to go to HR about do it, but you have to understand some people that are evil like that have such power. Is there a chance you could move someplace else in the buiding?

Laura-Not to worry dear, I never took offense at anything and I certainly know your heart is absent of any malice or unkindness. I pray that whomever is helping you with the LE problem is doing some good. There was a report of brasialian puff --somthing like that being a problem because of the formaldehyde in it.  By the way it was someone else that suggested Quiet ones. I particularly liked that one because it is so soothing when I write it. Therefore it felt right. I would give them credit by name , but can't remember. It is in the discussion on the couple of pges were discussing it.

I was here for prayers last night around 9:30. Pauls you do a great job putting together the prayers.

Still having SE affects from  flu vaccine. Back to bed. Namaste L&H and faith SAS

i miss the nightly prayers .. i get so tired at the time of day/night,

as to suffering, my saintly mother always used to say

'offer it up for the poor souls in purgatory'

i bet i heard that 1000 times.  I have two very Catholic piano students.  they are very open to offering the sometimes drudgery of practice for the poor souls.  One of my students is SUPER Catholic.  Her mother (Jane)  is a saint on earth.  She had 5 children  The middle boy was sick at age 18 months and his illness resulted in meningitis.  He was left severly handicapped... severely.  He got pneumonia and died a couple years ago.  It was absolutely devastating for her and the rest of the family.  About a year later she fostered and quickly adopted a VERY severely handicapped boy.  he too lives in a wheelchair and must be fed.  He looks happy at daily mass.  Jane then adopted 3 brothers.  They are not handicapped but they are VERY small.  She brings all of them to Mass almost everyday.  She has 5 boys, all weighing under 45 pounds that behave wonderfully.  She also has an adorable daughter who is about 6 and my student, Clair, who is 16.  They are all wonderful.   Clair has been homeschooled her whole life.  she 'attends

This family is a wonderful example of Christianity.  Have a wonderful day sisters.

Sheila - sorry you're having SEs from the flu shot.  So is my daughter.  Which is one of the reasons why I don't want to get one, even though my doc recommends it.  I have always had reactions.

I moved back to VA from NJ with the same company but now I'm working with a different customer on site.  My supervisor is great.  My problem is with the woman who has been leading the configuration management effort for the last few years with this customer.  I've been a configuration manager for 7 years so I don't know if she feels threatened that I'm going to take her job away, which I've told her before, I don't want.  Talked all this over with my supervisor, who had conversations the last two days with the customer about our situation, and they're only concerned that she doesn't have a trained back up... not concerned about my capabilities.  I'm not trained b/c she's not sharing guidance!!  I know my stuff, just not the local protocols.  I got the undertone from my sup that she has a problem of being a bit overbearing even with the customer... not just me.  We're all going to hash it out on Monday.  He told me if she ever comes to me and tells me something contrary to what direction he gave, then let him know.  He was not happy.

Laura - I appreciate your sharing with us about your LE.  I never gave it a second thought until I read about your suffering.  I am so sorry and will continue to pray for your relief.  I had my arm measured for a sleeve and gauntlet yesterday and was educated by the PT.  I wasn't even aware that we need to protect the lymph node removed arm and hand from cuts.   My hand has at least 3 cuts!!!  I have no idea how they got there, except the knuckle dry patch that I get every year and tends to bleed if I bother it too much.  So she suggested I always carry with me a good moisterizer and neosporin for my cuts and dry patch.

Pat - ain't it great being a grandma?  When I was a mother, I was so wrapped up in the ickiness of life (being married to an alcoholic, then being a single mother), that I never really had a lot of fun.  Now I do.  They're a treat!  Have fun with the family this weekend!!  The whole 4 years that I lived in Absecon, I never went to The Walk. :-(

Just a friendly reminder about the Sisters of Carmel prayer intentions for November.  I received some requests already in my PM and will be happy to send them -- our deadline is Nov 1, so if you can send them to me by 10/29, I'd appreciate it!!!  Also, for those of you unfamiliar with the practice, November is the month for All the Faithful Departed... they will have the priests offer up our deceased loved ones at every Mass in November... they said sometimes that can be 5 times a day:

    November 1, All Saints Day
Christian denominations celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints' Day and the Feast of All Souls' Day because of the fundamental belief that there is a prayerful spiritual communion between those in the state of grace who have died and are either being purified in purgatory or are in heaven (the 'church penitent' and the 'church triumphant', respectively), and the 'church militant' who are the living. Those who have died and are with God watch over those still living, and the saints are held to intercede with God on behalf of the living. On their part, the living pray to the saints and remember in intercessory prayers to God all who have died, particularly their deceased relatives and friends.

    November 2, All Souls Day
All Souls' Day commemorates the faithful departed. In Western Christianity, this day is observed principally in the Catholic Church, although some churches of the Anglican Communion and the Old Catholic Churches also celebrate it. The Eastern Orthodox churches observe several All Souls' Days during the year. The Roman Catholic celebration is associated with the doctrine that the souls of the faithful who at death have not been cleansed from the temporal punishment due to venial sins and from attachment to mortal sins cannot immediately attain the beatific vision in heaven, and that they may be helped to do so by prayer and by the sacrifice of the Mass (see Purgatory). In other words, when they died, they had not yet attained full sanctification and moral perfection, a requirement for entrance into Heaven. This sanctification is carried out posthumously in Purgatory.

The official name of the celebration in the Roman Rite liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church is "The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed".

She was to go home yesterday and is hoping to get on a chemo drug to stop the progression of her cancer.  Please contniue to pray her as she continues this fight. Thank you and hugs to all my bc sisters

    SHEILA!!!!

    (can you hear me?)

Dear Sister, you are just the best...you wrote about piriformis syndrome, myofascial relief and PT. I was one year into my treatment when BC hit, and since I stopped to deal with BC thing, it's gotten pretty bad. Michelle, I think Sheila's info is excellent.

and because my sister and I are in pain much of the time, she has also taught me about Iliotibial band syndrome, and psoas pain that can really affect ones leg, and pelvic/abdominal region. If you found a good Physical Therapist, one that specializes in myofascial release techniques, they may be able to evaluate you and give you a better answer than the MD. So Sheila is so very right, and I concur. One other issue, and this is JUST ME, is I have Sacroiliac Joint pain, severe. I am going to do the injections in a month or so...what a pain in the butt, literally. I wear a belt, and an incorrect step off the curb can send me into a fit of shearing pain. I have learned a lot on this back pain journey, and I didn't know pain in the pelvis can originate from the back and the same in reverse.

    It's worth a looksie.

    Torigirl,

So nice to "see" you! I am available anytime on the weekends, perhaps tonight, and tomorrow?

I will just toss out 8 PM tonight.   and 5 PM on Sunday, for those who have AM church services.

I will need all of your support to bring forth prayers for her, and to follow the Catholic faith and traditions as far as a prayer vigil.

I have an errand to run, will be back in about 2 hours.

    Thank you Sisters.

Thank you Corinne (My middle name is Corinne, spelled the same way!)

Traci, Tori, I will pray too.  I will pray a Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel.  Discovered this prayer form just recently with all our talk of angels.

The Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel

The Chaplet of St. Michael is a wonderful way to honor this great Archangel along with the other nine Choirs of Angels. What do we mean by Choirs? It seems that God has created various orders of Angels. Sacred Scripture distinguishes nine such groupings: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Virtues, Principalities, Archangels and Angels (Isa. 6:2; Gen. 3:24; Col. 1:6; Eph. 1:21; Rom. 8:38). There may be more groupings but these are the only ones that have been revealed to us. The Seraphim is believed to be the highest Choir, the most intimately united to God, while the Angelic Choir is the lowest.
The history of this Chaplet goes back to a devout Servant of God, Antonia d'Astonac, who had a vision of St. Michael. He told Antonia to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual
assistance and that of all the holy angels during life.

The Chaplet of St. Michael for Jeannine.

O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

[Say one Our Father and three Hail Marys after each of the following nine salutations in honor of the nine Choirs of Angels]

    1. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen.

    2. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Cherubim may the Lord grant us the grace to leave the ways of sin and run in the paths of Christian perfection. Amen.

    3. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Thrones may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen.

    4. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Dominions may the Lord give us grace to govern our senses and overcome any unruly passions. Amen.

    5. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Powers may the Lord protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil. Amen.

    6. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Virtues may the Lord preserve us from evil and falling into temptation.  Amen.

    7. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Principalities may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience. Amen.

    8. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Archangels may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works in order that we may attain the glory of Heaven. Amen.

    9. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Angels may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted in the life to come to Heaven. Amen.

Say one Our Father in honor of each of the following leading Angels:
St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael and our Guardian Angel.

    Concluding prayers:

O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises.

Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

just stopping in to say hi to all you sisters.. I really wonder if I am being called back to the Catholic Church.  I was going thru some old photos left by my dad before he passed away and found some old pictures of me making my First Holy Communion.  Also each day when I walk my dog, I pass the Church near my house and long to see inside.

Traci and Tori - thank you.  I like sharing, but don't like to be intrusive, so thanks for the feedback.  I'll post the rest of the Suffering Pamphlet today.

Barb - sounds to me like you are being prompted by the Holy Spirit.  He's just waiting for you to respond.

    Psalm 129

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord,

    Lord, Hear my voice!

O let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleading.

If you, O Lord, should mark out guilt, Lord who would survive?

But with you is found forgiveness: for this we revere you.

DH and I are babysitting this evening.  The youngest goes to bed at 7:30 and I can occupy the oldest on one of our laptops, so I'll be there for prayer at 8:00 EST.

Apple:  You're a piano teacher??  How wonderful!  I wish you lived close by b/c I'd like to take lessons again.  My piano is currently stuck in NJ.  We need to get a mover to get the rest of the stuff out of that house.  But I found playing the piano very stress relieving - even though I didn't like it when anyone was around to hear me.  I'm a perfectionist and, well, that's not good.

There are just some wonderful, self-less people in the world and it sounds like the family of your student is one of them.  I know if I were a young mother today, I'd try to homeschool.  My DH wishes she could.  Catholic schools are so expensive and public schools are, well, don't get me started.  I didn't feel that way when I was younger, but it seems everything in our society has deteriorated.  Our priorities are messed up.

P.S. -- that probably came across as opinionated and rude to anyone who teaches in a public school.  I'm sorry and don't want to offend anyone.  My 2 sisters in law are public school teachers and l love them dearly and they are soooo dedicated.  But some of the horror stories they share, I know I couldn't do it.  God bless all the teachers.

Thanks so much, Piraformis Syndrome is what I thought I had too, Stretching does help but always comes right back. How long can an episode go on  weeks??
I am working with a PT and like I said it has been 5 days without an issue after 7 weeks this time.
Ladies the pain stopped the exact day I touched the Image. (Our Lady) Also I felt all your prayers last night I really did and I fell asleep feeling your Grace and Kindness and put my hands on my stomach, Saying the Hail Mary over and over, Ladies this was the first morning in a week I didn't feel nauseous....seriously It is crazy but true. My Son woke up today able to go to his BBALL game because he was better too.
I really appreciate all of you and your PM's are so nice and thoughtful, I can't thank you enough!
