Hi Michelle, can you please add one more intention for me?  ~ "Job Offer" ~

My friend told me about a job at a credit union that is so fitting to my work experiences and personality that I pray to get that job if the Lord thinks that I should have it.

    Thank you!!

I love the iPad app for happiness Theresa, total cool! I will have to check that out. Some day my schedule will settle down. Friday nights are my 3 kids basketball and baseball games. I wish I could join you guys on Friday nights, but I know I am in the right spot cheering my family on!

The St Michael the Archangel prayer is so powerful. It's really interesting to read it here tonight. My 11 year old daughter just fully recited it in the cqr the other day to my 7 year old who was scared about something. It surprised me. I asked her how she knew it, and she sqid she prayed it every single night for a year after I was diagnosed...praying for strength for both of us. She never even told me. It definitely brought a smile to my face.

Cancer is so Limited, It cannot eat away peace, It cannot cripple love,It cannot destroy confidence, It cannot shatter hope, It cannot kill true friendship, It cannot corrode faith, It cannot shut out memories, It cannot silence courage, It can...not reduce eternal life, It cannot quench the Spirit, It cannot lessen the power of the Resurrection.

    Paula

I have updated the intention list ,but just so you know I think I was already praying for that for you as I feel your needs as we all listen and read between the lines of our posts here. I have been praying for your financial intention all along so don't worry I really think God is listening. I feel good things for all of you.

If any of you attend mass today try to leave a copy of the the saint jude prayer in your church for others to join in the novena. It is always nice to see one siting there knowing we can all pray to St. Jude and that we do!!

Hi Ladies,  I am a Catholic in New Orleans (a very Catholic city).  Just wanted to say that Blessed Father Seelos helped me get through my BC journey since I was diagosed in Sept.   We have a wonderful church here( St. Mary's)  and a visitor center for Fr. Seelos.   I was blessed with his cross and truly feel healed.  Love and prayers to all.

Well shoot.  Just lost my post.  Should know better by now than to go back a page!

    Michelle - I'm keeping up w/novena

Geewhiz...out of the mouths of babes.  God bless your sweet daughter.  Of the billions of prayers that go up to heaven each day I think probably those from children are heard first :)

Maria - great sentiments.  I REFUSE to let cancer break my spirit.

Theresa - thanks for that email - a good reminder.  Society is quick to judge any one segment for some issue even though the same problems are rampant throughout society.  Somehow that gets lost. I saw a report on TV the other day about the success of Catholic schools compared to public schools - their graduation rates are much higher, test scores higher, more structure, fewer behavior issues & costs much lower -- and that the methods used (including moral guidance along with academics) should be incorporated into public education if U.S. is to ever regain global educational advantage.

Traci - hope your friend will seek treatment.  Alcoholism is as much of a disease as cancer & many times genetic.  There should be a "BRCA" test for alcoholism so people know their risks early in life.

    Welcome Valgiri-

I love NOLA, have been there several times to help clean up after Katrina and am going down in May for another trip. I would love to hear more about your parish! My son did a fundraiser at his school for a sister school in NOLA to raise money for new windows after Katrina as they had all been damaged and there was mold and everywhere in their school. We met one of the superintendents of the diocesan schools there and he was so great.

    Glad you found us here.

    welcome valgirl....

Vickie I know you :) welcome to this thread too!

Ladies I have a prayer request. Last night I received a friend request on FB from a lady named Wendy I did not know who she was and asked her . She said she read something I wrote on the breast caner site and felt like sending me a friend request. Well she told me her story. She is a 45 year old women diagnosed with an aggressive bc and she has already had 5 rounds of chemo. She was told last week that the chemo is not working and the cancer is already spreading. Her lymph nodes on her neck are enlarged due to the cancer as well. She sais she is not in a good place right now. I invited her to join our prayer group, I hope she does but dont know if she will. I would like to offer special prayers up for Wendy. There is a reason out of all the people she friended she picked me and I feel like the power of all of our prayers is it!!

Lord please watch over your child Wendy. She is suffering now and scared. Her cancer has spread and she is looking for relief and hope. Please wrap your hands around her and let her feel your warm embrace of peace hope and love as only you can!.

     Amen.

    Thank you sisters

Thanks for the welcome ladies.  I think this is where I belong.

mmm5: St. Mary's is not my parish Ours is St. Pius X but I do love to visit St. Mary's and attend the healing mass there occasionally.  It is the parish where Blessed Fr. Seelos (he was a Redemptorist priest) served and died of Yellow Fever in 1867.  His remains are in the church.  He ministered to the sick and has 2 miracles already confirmed and the third miracle is now being considered in Rome.  I have no doubt that soon he will be a Saint.  Many people travel here to visit the shrine and church.   Here's a link to St. Mary's and some information on Fr. Seelos. www.seelos.org/lifebiography.html

Maria- I will add Wendy to my prayer list.

Welcome Valgirl and Vikki!  Yes, we are a friendly, supportive group. :-)

Prayers for Wendy and Traci's friend dealing with alcoholism and for Maria and Traci as they give them support.

It would be nice to have Wendy and Tinkerbell on the same thread! ;-)

Paula - good luck and many blessings for your job prospect!

We are having a cook out tonight. ;-)  Skip and Becky are the chefs and I'm the grandchild watcher.  I think it was Pat who said that it's easy practicing being in the present moment when you're with grandchildren.  We have the freedom to love and play and be with them but when we were young parents, we had the world of worries on our shoulders.  Maybe the BC gave us the freedom to see what's important now.

Said St. Jude novena before Mass today at church, but didn't think to bring one to leave at the church.

    Hi there Vikki! :):)

FYI - to new sisters - we just started a novena to St. Jude 3 days ago with list of intentions -- it's a couple of pages back.

That's exciting about Fr. Seelos - I googled him earlier.  Especially that he was Blessed during the Jubilee!  I was lucky enough to go to Rome for the Jubilee in 2000.  One part that stands out in my mind was walking through the holy doors of the 4 major basilicas - St Peter's, St. John, St Mary (Santa Maria Maggiore), and St Paul.  Each has a door that is only opened during holy year (every 25 years).  The pope is the first to go thru the door in St Peter's and the last before it is sealed again for 25 years. A 500 year tradition is if you walk through all four during holy year, all your sins are forgiven.    If I ever get to New Orleans I would definitely visit the shrine/church!

Well I'm late again by many days------please include my whole family in prayers each are facing trials right now.

Tickertude I love the explanation of tinkertude , just as I loved squids explanation of squidwitch. She should tell the story sometime.:) myown is simply that schatzi is my dearly loved dog.

Pray for all the priests and nuns--they lead such a lonely life. In this day all that has to happen to them is an accusation, no proof need be substaniated, the canon law does not require proof. They pretend it's there, but it is as if we were still in the days of the inquistition.Yes there are some stories that are true, but others that are not. Personally, I think anyone would be out of their mind to put themselves into a ministery that daily puts them in harms way of untrue accusations.

Recently had a dear friend who was gossiped out of the chior, the person spreading the gossip received no reprecussion. This chior was the center of this persons life for 18 years. Since I have so recently returned to the church , it only reminded me of why I left. The sense of Christian spirit was so wantonly abused. It reminded me of the words of Christ that "Ye without sin cast the first stone". pray that I get by this. I feel that I must approach the priest and chior in her defense. Gossip is such a horrid devil.

I can say my hearing loss has always been a blessing in this regard, as the very first thing a gossip will do is lower their voice. I would always have to say "What speak up I missed that?  The other thing with a hearing loss is the car always runs well.

Please add Tammy to your St Jude intentions---she has avasular necrosis in the leg --femur and tibia---highly unusual. Her livlihood depends on her legs.

Theresa dear one , please teach Skip lamaze breathing techniques, it will help him control his anger, be better for his vascular system, and sooth his being and your ears. If it helps, the techniques developed  were through the observation of animals going through the birthing process. If that isn't within the realm of Fraciscan what is? How could Skip as a lay franciscan argue with that? You may have to get a book on it, but it is well worth reading the history of how it was developed. As with chidbirth it takes practice, but he truly has no excuse to cause such an upset with each trip, when he espouses his beliefs in all other ways.

Tink,  your prayer a couple pages back regarding cancer please add to the prayer page. It brought tears to my eyes for it's truth and simplicity of spirit.

LauraI hope your husband doesn't carry through with his threat to have nothing more to do with the church. The church is Christ and the teachings he has brought us. Because of someones waywardness, should we drop our core beliefs of Christ and the goodness he brought to the world?  Theresa I believe posted the writings of a jewish man that showed many of the good things the church has done here and that the problems identified are not just problems within the Catholic church. The media does seem to have a vendetta against the Catholic church, but history does report these types of atrocities of people against people since the beginning of time. We are greatly sensitive to it in our own time because it is our time, and believe ourselves so much above these things. So much more enlightened, kinder, responsible etc? Is that why the teachings of Christ have endured through the centuries, to help us keep our faith in what is good and right in the presence of such evil of all nature-genocide, infanticide, war, all of it.  If we lose our faith , what do we have? Emptiness and no reason to go on. We prayed awhile back for a young man who committed suicide. He despaired. That to me is what  despair is- a total loss of belief that anything matters. Without our continued belief in a Supreme Being and the teachings of Christ and the old testament,  then we are but rocks and there isn't any point to our existence. That then leads to the discussion of how agnostics and atheists can deal with all of the wonders of life and no blief in an afterlife, but they have their beliefs and their own threads. But how lonely must those ideas be, your sweetheart doesn't want to go there. None here do.

    love you all sheila

I have just checked the viewings on this site and it is 47,00 plus . While if all came here it would be very hard to keep up with everyones name. Please don't hesitate, we will cope. If your need is to be with us --please come. If for whatever your reason is to be silent, thats ok. We haven't used the words in awhile, we call you are silent friends and keep you in our prayers. Please join in the ST JUude novena. Even if you have missed the first few days you can join now and then continue for the days both you and I have missed. May God and his Mother the Immaculate Heart of Mary keep you and as your hearts need support and solace let that be so. L&H&P sheila
