    Good Morning Ladies

I hope all of you are well.

Theresa I am praying for Skip and you are in my intentions today. I would continue the follow up and push the Docs a bit. I have been in medicine for 18 years and know that the push is what usually is needed.

I also want to post a thought to some of you regarding overall health and immunity. I really suffered so much 2 years after my dx. I felt ill much of the time, no energy, and had low white counts for some time. I went to see a Naturopath that works with an Onocologist and Rheumotolgoist, great reputation and runs everything by the MD's.

She put me on some immune builders and one of them is Cordyceps (a mushroom you can buy at any health food store). I am not sure if is these supplements or just the passing of time but physically I have been so much better. I don't get my kids illnesses I have energy and I feel pretty good. The other thing I do now that has made a huge difference is a regular practice of Bikrim YOGA it is the hot yoga. Anyone can do it any age and any fitness level. It is not easy but you can always rest in between postures and take it in your own stride. It has helped me immensely physically and mentally with the anxiety. It really helps you confront anxiety and hold it until it dissipates. I leave there feeling great and more calm than ever. It also is great for losing weight. I had gained about 10 lbs with the hormone therapy and it is almost all gone now.

    Anyway just a few thoughts!

Sheila thanks for your suggestion about helping out with Japan. We have a meeting next week and I will research a bit to see if we can act as a mediator or Hub for support and transfer.

God Bless all of you that are struggling. I offer up prayers for you all today.

Laura, Janet, Kay, Sandy, Ellie, Traci, Sheila, Maria, Paula, tori and Betty  and all that I missed much love and support come to you and may the Blessed Mother keep you in her safe arms and send blessings needed to you today.

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!  I forgot all about it, and I am almost completely Irish too!  Prayers for Skip and your fil Maria and Sandy and all.  The luck of the Irish to us all.   Just got back from the hospital for a bone scan.  I thought it was like an x-ray.  I had no idea I was going to have to stay in that contraption for so long.  It's been a whirlwind, chemo teaching (and bad news found out I'm going to be on Herceptin for a year), an MRI, two Cat Scans, and a bone scan this week.  And tomorrow I get a port.  Monday, chemo starts.  I am looking forward to it.  If I don't start it, I'll never finish it.  Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes. And the Irish sayings.  I loved those.  Everyone enjoy some ham and cabbage tonight and a pint (or two) of Ginuess.  God Bless and take care everyone.

Kay actually the Herceptin is good news that means you are Her2 positive which although it is a year of treatment it is a molecular treatment that is very effective in treating Her2 cancers. It is a fairly new treatment (last 10 years) that is becoming know as the "miracle drug".

Both Laura and I (Estepp who began this thread) have had this treatment and are doing well.

I hit my 3 year mark in 2 weeks of being cancer free!

Wow thats the first time I said that above, its scary I feel like I should knock on wood. Keep me in your prayers that this day comes for me and I am able to actualize the meaning of this big day.

    THanks MIchelle

    Dear Sweet Sisters,

I met the PS today and like him quite a bit. He has a sense of humor to add to his skills of surgery. I believe he is a talented and compentent surgeon who will do a good job with the NS one step with Alloderm. He thinks everything will go well tomorrow but, as you dear sisters know, I do have some pre-surgery jitters.

Jerry has jitters too and I really think he may need all of your prayers as much as I for he fears losing me. I suppose we all have our own personal fears... Martin and Camille still need your prayers as well. They have accepted this is my decision but do not understand why I have made the decision I have made but accept it as my choice. Please pray they are all comforted by Our Lord and the Blessed Mother.

Thank you in advance for your prayers for a successful surgery for me tomorrow. I pray I can feel your presence with me as I walk this road.

Love to all of you and May God Bless Each One of you,

    Sandy

Hello sisters - thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Skip.  He's doing much better today -- eating corned beef and cabbage with a Harp right now.  I made his follow up appointment with his primary on Monday.  Sheila, I was talking to my sister about our concerns for TIA, so they will likely follow up with that.  Skip is stubborn... thinks I'm overreacting to his migraine.  But he said he would do whatever Dr. Muir recommends.  That's all I ask.

Good luck with the chemo - Kay.  What cocktail are they giving you?  Is Herceptin the chemo or a drug like tamoxifen?

    Michelle - great recommendations!

I'm worn out, so I'll sign off for the night.  Still thinking and praying for you, Sandy!  Traci - you've been gone awhile!  I hope for good reasons! :-)  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Kay - whew!  That HAS been a whirlwind but sounds like your medical team is top notch!  You are in good hands - just take it one step at a time and before you know it, this will be behind you.  How are the kids doing?

Sandy - all good news!  They'll have to make room in the OR because we'll all be crowded in there praying with you tomorrow:)

Lord send your angels to guide our doctors and protect us.  Amen.

Sandy, I will be thinking of you and praying for you tomorrow.  I know you will be fine.

Thanks for all the prayers everyone.  The kids are doing well.  My two sons are grown (19 and 22).  They took the news in stride.  I feel badly for the older one because he is far away at college.  I haven't seen him since Christmas and won't see him again until July.  But he has called to see how I'm doing, and I appreciate it.  My daughter is 13.  She was very scared, but I think I did well talking to her and she is okay now.  We pray together for a little while every night.  I think all your advice about talking to them paid off.  I made sure I was comfortable before I told them and was confident that I was going to get better and it came across to them.

I'll be getting AC first for 8 weeks and then something with a T after for 8 weeks along with Herceptin for a yearl.  And then something else for 5 years.  I was happy they were telling me what was going to happen to me 5 years down the road.  :)  I think they are top notch.  I have really loved every medical person I've come in contact with since this started.  I feel really good about the hospital and the doctors.  Prayers for everyone tonight.  Looking forward to tomorrow's prayers.  Good night and God bless.

    Hi Sweet Sisters,

Please excuse me for not being up to speed. I promise to read all tomorrow night before prayers. I have been so very tired from work. They keep adding on to my job, and they are not my supervisors. I have talked again with my boss, and my new co-worker who is lovely is getting the same treatment. She may go back to her previous role, as she works twice as hard as she did for same pay.We push all day long, I often skip breaks as we have a constant flow of patients. And what do we get? People thinking we don't do anything. Breaks my heart. I work in a different role than that of task oriented Nursing, and they don't understand my job.  I am 75% grant funded. (meaning they only pay 25% of my salary.) Sad, as some days, I really love my job for the clients I work with.

So there you have it, I am down for the count when I get home, then wake up at late hours then fight fight to get out of the bed in the morning to get there and "show face" even though I have later arrival and stay later.

I'm pretty stressed out, as any job change would equal a year before qualifying again for long term disability. Of course, what's the solution? Take both of us offsite for a few days and let them see and absorb the flow we normally have. But we wouldn't do that to the patients.

So please excuse the DUMP...as I am grateful to have a job. I really love my clients (most :)

Sheila..I guess I didn't add the positive....alright, I used a coupon for Bed Bath and Beyond today and got a reclining lounge chair for 42.00. This afternoon I put a blanket over me and layed out on my porch, peaking up at the sky (we have buildings so it's not a full view.) It was so lovely, so restfull. It has been so long since I have been so happy in my surroundings. So I have to keep working hard to maintain it.

I will be ready for prayers tomorrow, Love to All!

I lost the post posted last night, it's not here.  Oh well....

I was all caught up on my reading the previous posts, and wrote to say:

Theresa ~ glad that Skip went to the ER and got looked at.  What a day for you dear.  Good thing you are on top of it and got him his appointment with pcp Monday.  Prayers for Skip. BTW,how is your intestinal issues,I hope you are all better.

Sheila ~ you are our blessings on this thread.  You have a wealth of medical information and is so willing to share and give advice.  I'm so grateful for that.

Sandy and Kay ~ you are in my thoughts and prayers

Michelle ~ so happy for your up coming 3 years anniversary.  Thank you for your prayers.

Tink ~ prayers for your F-I-L, how is he doing?

Janet ~ good luck with your surgery, sorry I can't remember the exact date, when is it again?

I have purchased my plane ticket to see my mom, I'll be departing on Mar 29th and returning on April 11th.  I have many tasks that needs to be completed and I had a completed a couple today.  I pray that the Lord will take care of all the logistics for me as this will be my first time travelling since BC.  I'm not 100% yet and have slight lymphedema symptoms, so I just hope that everything will be in place for me.  I am undecided whether I need to be in a wheelchair because I may exhaust myself walking through such a large airport.  Any advice would be appreciated.  I also won't be able to lift my hand carry to the bin above and is embarrassed to ask for help.  They might think that I look fine so then why don't I do it myself?

Laura et al, I will be praying along with you all tomorrow.

    Namaste!

Paula - I was thinking about you and your quietness this morning! :-)  Yes, I am feeling much better thank you!  Skip is back to his old self and read morning prayer on the commute this morning while I drove.  Are you going to be wearing a sleeve for lymphedema on the flight?  My nurse told me to put it on a hour before take off and leave it on an hour after landing.  Do not lift!  The stewardess/steward will help if you ask.  I have a new laptop for work, which is heavier than my old laptop and it came with a wheeled suitcase.  I lifted it into the car this morning and felt it. :-(  I won't do that again.  It's unfortunate that my surgery issues are on my right side and I'm right handed.  Enjoy your visit with your Mom!!!  Can you lead us in prayer tonight?

Traci - I was afraid you were burned out after not hearing from you. :-(  I'm so sorry about your work situation and would love for you to be able to find a good nursing position in one of our local hospitals.  We were just at Winchester hospital and they have many ads for nurses ... I know that's too far for you, but if Winchester has needs I'm sure the others do too.  I think we should hold you up in prayer tonight.  And Kay for her successful chemo.  And Sandy for her successful recovery from surgery today.  Janet, are you going into surgery?

Ahh, spring is here today.  I'm going to make a real effort to take at least one walk at work!

    Pax et bonum!!

SANDY..Hope you are doing well and your recovery is quick

Traci I hope you find the contentment and happiness you are looking for in your job. Good nurses are hard to find I would think they would be so lucky to have you with all the knowdledge and compassion you bring!!!

Theresa and Tink ~ so glad to hear the good news, it's calming.  I will try to find some prayers and be ready for tonight.  My DH has driven his parents back to California to pick up the rest of their stuffs (they moved to our State 1.5 weeks ago).

Theresa ~ thanks for telling me about the compression sleeve, that'll be the next thing I'm getting.  I have a long to-do lists and I'm just chipping away.  It sure is better with a ticket in hand, it made me more alert about what needs to get done, otherwise I will just procrastinate.

    See you all tonight! Namaste!

Paula - bet you're excited to visit your mama!!  And I'll bet she's so excited about you coming.

Maria - yes allergies are the pits.

Traci - agree w/Maria & Theresa.  There is such a shortage of nurses (and good ones) - they better appreciate you!  If not, stick your toe out there to see what else might be available and where you wouldn't lose benefits.  And I'm so glad you are enjoying your new place.

Who's on our list tonight?  Sandy?  Skip?  (My surgery isn't until next Wednesday so that can wait - you can be sure I'll be asking for your prayers that day though!)

Let's see - best thing that happened this week.  More flowers bloomed, Sheila's Irish blessings.  It has been kind of an uneventful week - but sometimes that's the best kind.

Janet ~ yeah I'm excited and have a long to-do list to tackle.  So far I wasn't able to talk to my mom over the phone, it is always a challenge to call just the right moment when my sister's got her cell right there.  Sometimes the signal is just not very good at the nursing home.

As I'm preparing to type up some prayers for tonight, I just noticed it is St. Cyril of Jerusalem today.

Dear Sisters, I've chosen the following prayers for our prayer meeting tonight.  I want to express the fact that we all have our worries, whether large or small.  We all encounter troubles and worries and we go and tell it to our Savior and know that he will watch over us and everything will eventually be alright.  I feel that this is very fitting of what we have been going through.

I will again ask for prayers for my mom, Terry, that she will have improved health and not feel nauseous or dizzy.  I will ask for financial stability and improvement. My family's good health.

Tink's father in law for improved health.

    Sandy for speedy recovery.

Michelle for upcoming 3rd cancerversary NED and improved finances.

Laura for speedy recovery on skin issues and improved finances.

Theresa for her improved health and Skip's improved health.

Tori for ease on Rads and her husband and troops safety.

    Apple for improved health.

Sheila for strength and calmness and improved health

Janet for next week's surgery to be smooth and quick recovery.

Traci for improved work condition and improved energy.

    Betty for improved health.

Kay and b-i-l for improved health

    LMFSM for improved health

    Renauses for improved health

Sorry if I forget anyone, all others et al, prayers for happy, calm and smooth running of things. Amen!

Friday, March 18, 2011 Prayer Meeting

    Comfort Overflowing,

When I encounter troubles, I know I take them to One who understands my pain. Suffering flows over into my life, but through Christ comfort overflows.

The abundance of Your compassion exceeds my trouble.  With that abundance I am bound, in love, to comfort others. Thank you for the unending, enfolding circle of Your love.  (One Minute Prayers for Healing)

    Beyond

What a blessing it is to know You. I draw from Your comfort and strength daily to make it through. When the sadness comes, I imagine sitting with You on a sunny hillside, and I can feel the loneliness fade as the relationship shines.

I want to see beyond my current situation. My hope is that there is joy and peace beyond this turmoil. Your love points me in the right direction. You carry me when I am weak. And as we talk, You tell me about the glory that is beyond this man-made life I worry about so much. (One minute prayers for Healing)

Do Not Worry (Matthew 6: 25-34)

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you - you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, "What will we eat?" or "What will we drink?" or "What will we wear?" For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today.

Blessings Everyone! This has been a week of serious things for everyone. I hope and pray we each find our way without more trouble.

The best this week was listening to my brother play an Irish gig last night. Then later playing on an empty beach under the super moon with Schatzi, who was trying to make sense of the waves and the freedom.

    Namaste! sheila

Love and prayers to all my sisters and thanks for the love and support we have here.

The visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo  message from our lady who is always with us

"Dear children! I am with you in the name of the greatest Love, in the name of dear God, who has come close to you through my Son and has shown you real love. I desire to lead you on the way of God. I desire to teach you real love so that others may see it in you, that you may see it in others, that you may be a brother to them and that others may see a merciful brother in you. My children, do not be afraid to open your hearts to me. With motherly love, I will show you what I expect of each of you, what I expect of my apostles. Set out with me. Thank you."
