Sheila - Pocketful of Miracles !!! That's the one I remember. I thought it had more "famous" actors in it. Maybe it was a remake of Lady for a Day.
The best thing that happened? I found my car keys.... they've been missing since I drove back from NJ business travel and have had to use the spare key. I worried myself sick and asked help from St Jude. All week he's been nagging me to go downstairs and look in the raincoat that I washed and dried. Deep in a pocket were my keys. I'll find out tomorrow if the remote still works.
... and SFO meeting tomorrow ... a very good thing.

P F O M had oodles of famous stars. Glenn Ford couldn't do anything serious without having an Apple from Annie. He believed. ----

Thanks for including me and my brother-in-law (he's married to my twin sister) in your prayers. We both had good news yesterday. I fell asleep last night from exhaustion and was really looking forward to it, but I'm sure the sleep was good for me. I am saying prayers now for all of your special intentions. I am heading to mass soon and will remember Sandy, Debby's Mom and family, Julie, Paula's Mom and the Tsunami victims. It is an absolutely beautiful day here.
The best thing that happened to me this week was that I met my oncologist. I absolutely love her. She is such a special person. I feel so relieved and confident now.Have a blessed weekendeveryone.

Good Morning Sisters,
Prayers for the rescuers and all involved in Japan. Please keep continued prayers for the cooling of their Nuclear Reactors.
May each person's Guardian Angel be made known to them as they await rescue. Please lessen their pain. Please keep all Hospitals/clinics and mobile care units safe, and create a zone of protection so that the Medical Personnel can help save lives.
Theresa,

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26
Thinking of all that has happened in the last several weeks this verse come to mind. That our heavenly Father cares about all of us, no matter what the situtation is. Thank you for your loving care Lord. (swiped from a post in another forum)

From today's gosple:
The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples and said, 'Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?'
31 Jesus said to them in reply, 'It is not those that are well who need the doctor, but the sick.
32 I have come to call not the upright but sinners to repentance.'
In his homily, father said Hate the sin, but love the sinner.

Ok Last night while waiting for prayers I asked everyone what the best thing that happened to them this week.......... When stephen was small I asked him what first- was the worst. And then I would ask him what he thought about it. I would always allow time . Minutes to days depending on the seriousness of the worst. The next ? was what was the best thing about today? In each answer , it always amazed me what his response was. The worst response-- could be discussed right away sometimes. But sometimes I told him it would take some thought. The best times-- response were so much more fun because they were positive. ---he had action > response> positive outcome>happy. But with each I was trying to teach him to identify what he valued.
So perhaps, here we can say what was the worst that happened to us and the best that happened to us each week at time of prayers. It then would cause us to concentrate on each. Once things are identified , then we can do something about them... BY saying the best and the worst. For example, I need more Chaos in my life-------I need more people, activity, change. Tink had a talk with her FIL.
If what I'm suggesting is accepted, what we accomplish along with our prayer is our self recognition of what is negative or positive in our lives. Once we put things in print that we can reread them, and say "this is what I need to pray about" All the prayers of the past give us great solace, guidance, beauty, words can't compare". BUT we have our own thoughts and needs. We have our own prayers. We have our own time with him. When we type something, we believe it touches someone. If it touches someone , it may cause them to make a change.
The long and short
Each week at prayers if it helps your being--talk about the worst and the best
AND How It changed your life
Namaste

Sheila,
Sounds very interesting...sometimes I feel like I'm heavily weighted towards the bad..which only means I am giving the negative more attention and energy. I think it's a great idea! I actually didn't see you write that on Friday...

Good morning sisters - been dealing with intestinal issues again. Daughter and grandson dealing with sinus infections and bronchitis again. Stuff keeps going around. We had a wonderful SFO meeting on Saturday. Formation classes start up again next month ... can't wait! They have a large Inquiry group, but I'm the only one in Candidate phase. I miss my St. Leo Fraternity Brother in Christ - Harry. We were both going through classes together and he had a great sense of humor. He drove a FedEx truck for his occupation and had some incredible stories, difficult to be an ambassador of Christ sometimes in that profession! :-)
Sheila - that's a good idea for Fridays. I'm like Traci, though, and had a really hard time coming up with a good thing... I can think of the bad things immediately. I need to work on that.
My cousin Cliffy's wife wrote me back and told me the long story of how he passed. It started last year after he fell from doing a home repair (I can see him up on a ladder now). He broke many bones and had to be in a body cast for months. But they noticed blood in his stool. Sure enough, he had cancer and it got into his lymph nodes. So, you know the deal - surgery and chemo. On top of that, he started with chest pains. They found his arteries were 95% blocked! So they put him on meds for that. I think the chemo made his heart race (it made mine race too and I ended up having a stress test) so his onc wanted him to follow up with his cardiologist. One day, they came home and he went to the bedroom to rest. His wife made a quick dinner, then went in to get him and he was gone. She said she was grateful he went so quickly and peacefully.
So, my onc on my last visit wants me to have genetic counseling. I had the BRCA test and it was negative, so she thinks it's something else in our family. I have an appt for next Tuesday. I really don't know what to think of it. I'm not sure what they would do if they found something. It's another big question mark. Have any of you gone through genetic counseling? I'll have to look to see if there's a thread for that.

Theresa...I too had the BRCA test and was negative. I did NOT have any genetic counseling, I think because I had already been diagosed with BC. Anyway, why do they want you to have genetic counseling if you are negative? What else are they looking for? Curious to see what they are thinking there. Keep us posted!
PS Did you have an oncotype test?

T - I just got back from CVS picking up antibiotic Rx for sinus infection too! I'm like clockwork - soon as any of the allergy seasons start it begins. Usually have 2-3 per year. Dr. tries everything - antihistamines, nasal sprays, etc in advance, but it always ends up in an infection. I'm definitely going to an allergy dr. and try the shots. Last one was just before mastect last Sept - and now here it is a week before this one! Yikes.
I went to genetic counseling - they do a family tree with types of cancers, age at onset, etc. There are other genetic tests besides brca. I'm supposed to send blood to Cleveland Clinic on a study they are doing on genetic link thyroid & bc - but haven't gotten around to it yet. I think that gene is called PTEN. There is another one for blood cancers - but can't remember the name. They just explained to me that if one of those nasty genes is around, knowing helps you and other blood relatives to be tested and then screened more carefully for those cancers than they would the general public.
Sandy - what did you decide? Are you on for this week for surgery?
Lord, send your comfort and protection to the people of Japan. Amen.

Theresa, I'd choose peacefully going to sleep any day over anything else. Sorry you lost your friend. But we are blessed that we believe in God and an afterlife. To think our souls/energy would dissipate to nothing is so pointless.
I had Genetic counseling, BRCA neg also. We know there was a gene that came from my grandmothers side. We know this not because of counseling , but because a second cousin traced the family tree on my GF's side back to Ireland. No cancer , but lots of cardiovascular stuff. Also, a horsethief, a connection to the Carrols that signed the declaration of Independence, and Mary queen of Scots. The original Ireland atecedant on my GF's side was sent to the America's because of his political beliefs---he was 13 y/o.On GM's side --OH MY the cancers.
Many people are aware that the British sent there problem people to Australia. What I wasn't aware of until reading a T Jefferson and B Franklin biographies, is each had their own words in regard with the Brits sending their problem people here. The question after learning this and then thinking also of the Australians---we each made mistakes(us with slavery/American indians and the brits treatment of Aboriginal people), but each are incredibly resourseful and strong people.
The genetic counselor was connected with Shands in Gainesville. I believe that our family should have triggered some research because of the amount of CA in my dads family -10 kids -and then the amount in the my generation--------predominantly female.. Interesting.......But no takers. A hundred years from now Aldous Huxley's prediction of fixing genes will be true.
new thought --changing gears
We are all pretty keyed into the research with vitamin d. I suggest being tested for hemochromatosis. It is a gene carried by celtic people and afro-americans as a result of matches with celts during the slavery period in America. The celtic people covered most of europe and the isles. The romans drove them back in northern europe to the lowland countries and then weren't interested in going farther north--too cold. Same thing happened when they got to Britain, they went north into Scotland until the same thing happened. When they went to Ireland basically, they couldn't see any thing there they wanted to conquer. Most people think the celtic people were only Irish and thats not true. There is a great book, but out of print likely, called "Celtic Christianity". Many people even doc's associate hemochromatosis only with alcoholism(SIC?). But it is associated with many other diseases. Cancer is a biggy. It affects the vascular system& brain and multiple other things , but I forget---oh yeah, one of them is memory LOL. It's also known as Iron storage disease. Ca feeds on iron. It is a very common gene. Two have been identified. One more lethal than the other, but both are trouble. If you carry the gene there are ways to manage it. Long story, so I'll leave it at that for now. Having an Iron panel done once a year is a smart move for males and post menopausal females. If you are tested for the gene because someonelse has tested positive for it, than a yearly test is necessary. Since your having genetic testing done, it would be a good thing to ask for. There are laws in place to prevent discrimation on genetic information, but if you have a concern, you can get it done privately. The counseling through Shands had a completely separate computer and reporting system.
New Gear--The good and the bad identification each week with prayers. When we have a problem we tend to bring it here right away for help, support, guidance, and to blow off steam curling out of our ears. Which is good because we trust each other for help. The good tends not to be voiced as often, WE need all the GOOD we can concentrate on. Plus, it will makes us feel good---Yeah for that.
It was a moment of insight in my counseling session last week, that I realized that I need more choas. Used to thrive on it. Now I have something to work on.
Bless you all Namaste--I SALUTE THE GOD WITHIN YOU. sheila

I pray for the poor people of Japan.

I have been watching footage of the destruction in Japan. It's so hard to comprehend, and I cannot imagine the agony. A little baby girl was found in the wreckage today, and she's really just an infant. Praise God that she is alright...makes me wonder if the Angels held her for days, keeping her alive. I pray for the deep grief, and pain the people are experiencing. For those who have passed, and for those left behind.
I think I can start by appreciating my life today, and the ability to get out and be in the fray, tired or not. I am also grateful for all of the help I have had along the way in recent months. I am very lucky.
God Bless you all...Theresa and Janet, GET BETTER or I'M coming over to your houses, hands on hips, foot tapping, tsking all the way.
Rest, get plenty of fluids, and snuggle under the covers...really, please take good care.
Sandy...yes, have you decided?
Rennasus...pretty flowers, my fav color!
and Sheila, you are a fountain of knowledge...very interesting.
oh, and Janet...would like to hear more about the thyroid/BC trial.
Bless you Sisters.
