Dulci - so glad you're feeling better!

Bounce - great job girlfriend!  It's always hard jumping into the exercise routine when you've been sedentary most of your life, but look at you!  You got in 70 minutes of walking today......woo hoo!!!!  Betcha never thought of walking as an exercise plan before, huh?  ThumbsUp

Pat01 - I don't remember where you're going but if it's tropical it sounds heavenly.......

Sweetandspecial, I am going to the Dominican Republic with some good friends and their friends, none of whom I've met.  6 couples in all at an all inclusive.  I can't wait, we leave Wednesday.  haha, all inclusive, I'm going to have to do some atoning when I get back on the weekly weigh in forum!

Happy Birthday Claire (if this were an ipad - I'd add the cake, the glass of wine and the balloon).  Mary I was in your DHs parents hood yesterday, went to the Buddhist Temple for New Year Celebration with my Vietnamese friends, and oh yes, they have great food in the dining hall of the Temple.  Bounce that is a terrific accomplishment, congratulations. For some reason I stopped watching BL half way through the season and it was one of my faves, I kind of figured she'd win, she had that athlete mentality that kicked back in.  Glad to hear you're feeling better Dulci.  S&S I know your pain,  I bought myself a fancy foot massager on Saturday at Target, it's one that you can heat up or put in the freezer, not that I want my feet to hurt but I can't wait to use it......

Did a Sh'bam class this morning, my Tennessee friend is coming into town tonight to stay with me, she's out here on business so the BBQ will get fired up and I'm having a few people over for dinner so won't get to the gym tonight.

Birthday was yesterday, but a day of little exercise and much work.  This, because of the fab ski I did on Saturday so had to switch things around.  Just got in a run in what can best be described as "bracing" conditions.

Thank you so much everyone for the well wishes.  I can say that people are getting my number.  I got a bottle of wine on Friday (which I have already consumed) and a gift certificate to my fave place came in the mail today.

I need to get back to work. I think exercise may be a bit scarce until I get into March.  That with the move and Vancouver BC trip coming up.  At least great running places in my new place with days getting longer.

I am getting more and more in the hole work-wise......  Hmmmm.  But I think a couple of lucrative projects coming up.

I still want to do hut skiing, but that will be next year. - Claire

Happy belated birthday Claire. Pat01, envious of your trip to the tropics as it looks like we are getting more snow Thursday.

Hit the gym today for a 45 minute walk/run plus some toning. Almost have all the kinks worked out of my neck and shoulders just in time to start the Soldier Fit program....Singing

    Happy belated Claire Day!

"Bracing" for sure! Mom said you all got about 2" of snow and that it melted quickly.

Tuesday is my resentful day off from exercise as my schedule combined with my daughter's does not permit "me" time. Unless I get up at 4a.m. And if I heard The Voices that early I would most likely throw a pillow at you. You've been warned. Snooze

This thread is so great - I wish I had more time to compose individual responses Scared.

For now, though, I bumped up my running intervals on the treadmill this morning.  Rather than walk a lap, run a lap, I'm doing walk 1 lap, run 2 laps.  Got in 4.0 miles which means I walked 1.5 and ran 2.5......whoo hoo!  Followed by lower back, abs and stretching.

Claire - Happy Birthday!!  Nihahi - I use exercise to work off negativity too - it's hard to stay PO'd when I'm exhausted!  Dulci - absolutely you will not hear my voice at 4am!! Ruth - what a rude weather shock you got!  Glad you had a good time on your trip.  Pat - hope you have a big suitcase as I think several of us plan to squeeze in to join you on that trip!

Couldn't stand working out inside one more morning, so I bundled up in 18 degree weather and went for a pre-dawn walk this morning - 2 miles.  No wind so it wasn't too bad, and a beautiful orangy-pink dawn was breaking just as I got home.  I even heard a few birds chirping - gives me hope that spring might come someday!

Edited to add: Did anyone see that the red miniature pinscher took the Toy Group at the
Westminster dog show last night? The handler said that living with a
min pin was like living with a 2 year old that never grows up. Those of
you who have met Mikey - pretty accurate, no? Winking

    Hello Ladies

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement.

Today I walked to work - 35 minutes and 2 flights of stairs.   After work I walked around the supermarket for about an hour (though I guess that doesn't count as exercise Loopy).

I want to do some exercise that builds core and upper body strength but it will take me some time to figure out how or what to do.

In the meantime I intend walking as much as I can.  It makes me feel good.

No exercise for me the last day - dealt with some minor health issues yesterday, and then packing!  Getting a pedi at lunch today, and this time tomorrow I'll be on a plane - so excited!  Not sure if we have internet where we are staying, so I will try to catch up with you all when I can.

Here is a picture of DH & I on a walk in sunny Arizona. It was a little 'coolish' that morning.

Claire, happy belated Birthday - Ruth, welcome back to town.

I'm stalling ... haven't done the workout yet today.  I think I will do some miles at the gym first and then climb the mountain.

Weather gorgeous.  Had to turn the A/C on for a few minutes yesterday, as it go up to over 82 degrees in here!  Crazy, but loving it.  :o)

On the flip side of things, you all get to post your wonderful summer temps when it's muggy here in the South!

Have a nice day my bc sisters - xoxo

    Great photo Ruth.

And Bounce, in my book walking around the super market counts as exercise. Walking is walking!

Cold, rainy, yukky weather here today and no time to go to the gym. I did manage to do stairs at home until my legs felt like jelly.

Unfair, Ruth!  We're preparing for yet another blizzard.

Yea!  I finally was able to go to the gym today and use the cardio machines.  I didn't feel up to running but it was a nice break from my home staircases.  Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to get the Neulasta shot.  I don't have to live in a bubble any longer.

My exchange surgery is scheduled for the end of April.  It's a month after I finish chemo.  A light a the end of the tunnel appears!

Pat - have a WONDERFUL time and soak up that vitamin D

Inspired - I'm trying to vicariously enjoy your hot weather but it ain't working so good.......

Warrior - so glad you were able to go to the gym.  Before you know it you'll be running races again.

workout routine will be altered for a couple weeks....doing some volunteer work that is more like a full time job. So, got up early today and did 30 minutes on the exercise bike, and some stretching.

bounce....yoga would be a great way to get started with some core work and also works the arms, legs, heck, just about everything but your earlobes. I think one of the biggest benefits of yoga is that it teaches you to really "listen and learn" what your body is trying to tell you. Balance is also hugely important for us as we age, and again, yoga addresses that too. (yes Ruth, I know it wasn't for you....but I bet you must have been in a restorative or slow hatha class.....Have you ever tried ashtanga??? That'll keep you wide awake and eyes off the clock Winking.

It was YMCA Yoga Smile.......I think it is me, not the class, although I did try it again & will do it every once and awhile because it IS good for me to slow it down and move mindfully.
