Thanks again for the support ladies. Yesterday, I walked and walked, over 9000 steps. Today, back to the gym to try out my program on my own.
Lilac, the only thing I know for sure about the Scottish vote is that it has been affecting currency for the last few weeks. I'll have to goole the issue.

I felt the same way about Scotland, and texted my guy this AM. He has dual citizenship and lived in London for about 10 years. His father's family is Scots, and how he most identifies. Has the Celtic build too.
I didn't get to do my free weights last night as ran out of time....literally. But did do my 2 mile walk and crunches. I think less exercise this weekend as just walking in Seattle and then out to Lake Chelan where the other two ladies won't be exercising. I will do a swim in the lake which should be bracing.
Lots going on, but no time as today is a big deal, and still have things to get done to prepare. Wish me luck with the mail merge. I am thinking pub at the end as well. Our offices have TWO on the same street, both with marvelous beer. The Three Lions Pub is literally a stone's throw from my place.
Next weekend is the Wine Country Trek. Not yet sure about the wine:cycling ratio.
One way to have the Voices greatly amplified is to take up with a very fit younger guy. He manages both the marathon training and pub crawling very well. Suspect he learned this skill while in London. Balance in everything.
Tuesday is the 5 years post surgery date. More going on, but this gives a flavor. Off early to prepare for a busy day of local volunteers. As for free weights, I put things to my medical team this way: can I do these now? They were fine. - Claire

Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary, Claire, and all the interesting, exciting, and fun things you have done with those 5 years!
Great job on the turnout for the Scottish elections! That is what you want to see in any election, and they should all be very proud of themselves for making their voices heard through the ballot.
Did Insanity & am now trying to talk myself into half an hour of pilates or something of that nature......

Lilac I cried when I read your post. I JUST literally walked in from my one month post op with the plastic surgeon and breast surgeon. The waiting room was full but to my left sat a woman by herself with the dreaded pink rose in a vase which is given to new patients. I wanted so badly to say something to her but nothing at all came to me. Crap.
Anyhoo I was told I can RUN now!!!! I have only been walking (60-90 min) and riding the recumbant bike. She said I can go slow and wear good bras, which I will have to go buy tonight because tomorrow I WILL run! Any advice? On bras? On how slow to go? So excited.

I won't repost the entire thing here, but I had to skip my livestrong workout at the YMCA yesterday because the oncologist sent me to the E.R. The radiologist who read the CT I had done on Wednesday said I had a fracture! I was like What???Where??? I don't feel a thing. Thank God it was a false alarm and all is well. Plus additionally the lesions in the bones show signs of improvement! Yey!
This little "scare" will serve as a motivation to continue exercising because evidently I'm doing something right!

Aurora, I've been lurking on the Stage IV thread where you've been posting the last couple days (it is a 'no-no' for non-stage IV people to post there...but I would have once I read your news if you hadn't posted over here). THANK GOODNESS that everything is okay, how scary!!!!!
5 hours after I posted that I was going to do pilates.....I did pilates.

Yay, Aurora. Not only nothing bad but improvement. Best news of the day!
I had no vested interest in the Scotland issue except a very long-ago blood line but I think Scotland did itself proud with such a high turnout! Yes or no, they spoke!
I would have preferred to walk around the lake this evening. 74 and sunny. But its supposed to, yes, you guessed it, rain all day tomorrow so I had to mow my lawn or it won't be mow-able. So 45 minutes lawn mowing and 15 minute dog walk around the neighborhood.

Went out today for a walk at lunch but just too tired tonight so taking it off. Have errands tomorrow that will keep me on my feet so will make up for it then.
No Ruth, Cheryl and I will not overdo the Desserts. Food, maybe, but not dessert!
Night my sculpted friends.

Aurora, congrats on your great results. .
Natsfan, wishing you a speedy run .
Walked half an hour on the treadmill tonight. Kept it light to conserve energy for tomorrow's event.

Yay, auroaya!! NED or improvement is always great news. I wanted to tell you when I saw your earlier post that it could be a false alarm. I've had so many false alarms myself (knock on wood!), but then again there are so many others that don't seem to get a break. Really happy that things are on the right track for you. YES, exercise helps!
Speedy runs to you, Mary and odie. Congrats on 5 fulfilling years, Claire!
Tango yesterday. Zumba later.

I'm counting my 3 hr of weed pulling in high humidity as my exercise for today and I'm filthy and tired.

Dear Lilacblue, I just read your post, brought back memories as well! And when I see someone newly diagnosed, I feel that sadness again! I try to be as encouraging as I can!! So glad that you and your husband are doing well! Your exercise routine is awesome!! We can be survivors of this terrible beast!!

Heidi, Tango sounds delightful. My husband said he would go to classes with me the other day but I'm not sure if he was just humoring me or not!
Teacher I can testify that pulling weeds is good exercise because its plenty of squats.
So it didn't rain all day so I managed a 40 minute walk around the lake with my hubby.
Edited to add I did upper body weights. It helps to keep them near my lap top station. Then I remember to do them occassionally.

AbFab fall weather here; remember this when it's winter, and zero!
Found a walking buddy at work and we're taking energizing mind-clearing 15-min AM & PM breaks. Had a lovely long walk early this morning. Logged 22.3 miles since last post.
Must share this wonderful uplifting video, no wonder it's had 55 million views! ♥ to all

Hey, we're famous! Can't wait to add more pictures to the slide show!

This morning I did a 45 minute Denise Austin DVD, 'Shrink Your Fat Zones', and then went on a long, contemplative walk; thinking about Lilac & beth's recent experiences and something that happened to me just last night (I was thinking so hard that I missed the turn back to my house....so I guess it might be worth sharing what I came up with). I was at a college volleyball game when a lady came in and sat on a bleacher near me. She actually was one of my pom pon girls about 30 years ago, and other than to say 'hi' when we have come across each other, we have never had a conversation in all those years. I had read in the paper that her mother died a couple weeks ago & there she sat looking so sad....I thought; would it be intrusive to go say something to her? Is a volleyball game really a good place to express your sympathy? So I sat there, but finally during a break, I really felt it was something I should do, so during a break, I went over and talked to her about aging parents, and life and death, and the sadness of the passing of generations.....and she said, "I am so glad you came over. I have been so sad since she died, and this is the first time I've been out & I felt terrible about going and having any fun. But now I feel a lot better. Like it's okay to go forward.' Of course you shouldn't interrupt a private moment, but if you are in a situation where you have the feeling you should say something...do it, even if you don't know what to say (giving a little slip of paper with BCO.org on it & telling them it is a great place for information and support would be a wonderful thing to do for anyone just diagnosed). I do think that sometimes we are put places for a reason; and if we follow our instincts, we can give someone else a little (or maybe even a big) boost. Okay, that's the end of my deep thoughts for the evening.

I agree that sometimes we are where we need to be for a reason.
Today's exercise was lots of walking at a local fundraising event for Special Olympics as well as pulling a 747 Fed Ex plane. Lots of fun and I was proud of myself for not indulging in all the wonderful food options available.

Now that's a different kind of flashmob. Loved it. Thanks for finding this, Badger.

Ruth, love yr deep thoughts and that you could share & comfort.
Some of our sisters incl Ruth and RedReading have their stories on the new Members from around the World thread. Thx for doing that ladies. http://www.breastcancer.org/community/acknowledging/world
LB, that's a tough one, coming thru the dx wringer, witnessing that intense private moment, knowing what may be in store for them, and feeling it. IMHO we all have some degree of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and crying while running seems to me an OK way to blow off steam. Except if you can't see you might trip and fall. And you probably didn't bring a hankie. eew LOL. ♥

Ruth, that young lady needed you and you gave her comfort and peace!

Hi Ladies....Off for a run as haven't gotten is many as liked this past week due to long days and lots of work. Yesterday, I participated in the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk to show support for those battling brain cancer. I was humbled by the journey those patients face. I got off easy.
Then, time for some fun. Monorail to Downtown, and a whirlwind of buying hose/underwear at Nordstrom Rack, two banks, sending off overdue bills, and a trip to the resale shop. Found an amazing cashmere cardigan that will be perfect for a lot of the work I am now doing. Very high end (Barney's) and a steal for $99. I also got a great layering piece...heavy silk....which I also need.
Then a makeover at Nordstrom prior to meeting my guy. Museum, Pike Place Market for food, Bavarian Meets for wurst and smoked pork chops. My guy got a museum membership for TWO, so suspecting more visits there. Of course, the wine bar which was hopping, but I did get in a short chat so they are no longer saying "Claire who?" We bought a bottle of wonderful Syrah to have with dinner and of course each had a glass there. Back here for dinner which was extremely fresh veggies, pork chops, and a blueberry clafoutis (French dessert pancake).
Lots of great conversation and wonderful to sleep in a bit this morning. Was able to borrow my guy's tent for next weekend so good to go that way. Need to do a run prior to heading out to Lake Chelan later today. The ladies who are there with me have a different definition of "exercise" than I do!
Let's see how long my swim in Lake Chelan lasts!!!! Will report back on Tuesday. - Claire

Did some toning & took a walk. A beautiful fall day here!

Ruth, that's wonderful you could help someone on a bad day. It is hard to know what to do sometimes. You may not want to upset them more but I think people appreciate it when its acknowledged in some way rather than everyone ignoring it. Perfect work. I struggle with my work friend with BC as to how to help her through each stage with the most positive attitude, and yet I don't want her to think if she's down that there's something wrong with her - that she's not as "strong" as me. ( Ha ha didn't you hate it when people said that). She said she had only talked to me because I had such a good attitude so I guess I'm doing OK, but I kind of wanted to scream that I'm not always positive, that this disease sucks and I hate it and I don't want to play this game any more.
And thank you for the lovely tree picture. Our leaves are starting to turn. Fall is in the air today.
I almost forgot to post my exercise. 25 minute walk.

Love this time of year as Fall is my favorite season.I love the crisp mornings, warm days and beautiful colors.
Exercise today was a hodgepodge of activities. Started closing the pool, took an hour long walk, did some core exercises and leg exercises.

Ruth: you are always so kind.
Aurora: I hate that you had such a scare. So glad you've had improvement!
Odie: Wow! You took part in pulling a 747 Fed Ex plane! That is awesome!
Badger: Thanks for posting the link to the stories by Ruth and RedReading. Loved reading them.
Hi All. Fast walked this afternoon. We are expecting nice, cool weather this week and my sweaty body can't wait!

Because they said they wanted more pictures for their slideshow, I sent the mods the one of us at the Jefferson Memorial in 2013, and of the Exercise & Illinois ladies in Chicago in 2012, AND of the Minneapolis gals with Mary Tyler Moore in 2011.....then I quit because I don't know how many pictures they want of me, badger, and Cheryl (who just so happen to be in all of them
).0 -
Thanks for the autumnal inspiration Ruth, and new avatar too. Odie, you did really well with the plane pull and a real plus to have a fitness center at work. TwoHobbies, it's pretty much sacrilege to not always be positive, said the woman who was given 3 Chicken Soup For The Soul books for positive reinforcement. Read a insightful book on the subject during early dx called Smile! You've Got Cancer, by Barbara Ehrenreich. It does take effort to maintain the upbeat demeanor expected by others. Aurora, NED is super. Kindergarten, thank you. Bethq, did you get out and run over the weekend? I found, just getting out to do it is the place to start. Hope you found that to be true as well.
Off to do a run this morning and power step at the gym tonight.
