Love the snow pictures (if not the actual snow itself)! Did a good FIRM toning DVD and now need to do some house cleaning.

Thanks all for the comments and tips. Another reason this thread is so wonderful. You all are very much appreciated.

Badger, love those pics; thanks for the giggles. Pita119, bite your tongue. We had enough snow last winter.

1 hour in pool this afternoon; 90% aerobics - 5% jogging; 5% swimming. Now stir-frying veggies for dinner, some cheese and an apple for dessert.

    Night mu sculpted friends.

I want snow. Looks like for the second year in a row after my expander surgery, hubby will be the only one shovelling again.

Another GREAT day for a ride. Have to admit I was dubious when I drove to the meet up place with windshield wipers going full tilt, but then the rain stopped and the skies cleared. I LOVE the low sun this time of year. Just so beautiful.

The ride was hilly and kicked my butt, but much needed. I can feel the difference in how I breathe, and I am sure that my muscles will be talking to me soon. Stopping place was a coffee shop, and yes, I had a latte and pumpkin pie. I feel like I am finally back to being fit, and something I really miss when I don't get it.

Need to get my pea soup (with ham hocks) going. I got really good multi-grain rolls to go with. Because still damp out there from all the rain. So soup is what it will be. Happy Sunday everyone. - Claire

    badger-great pics!

Patio-sorry about the diabetes. My mom was diagnosed with type 2 after her BC diagnosis. She takes metformin and cut back on carbs, added some walking and is doing great. She has lost weight and is healthier than ever! If you eat too many carbs while taking metformin, your body will let you know by sending you running to the bathroom. Good luck!

Today was beautiful and in the 50's so I got outside for a 4 mile run and then took a 3 mile trail walk with DH.

heehee, thanks Ginger. My PCP warned me a SE of metformin could be frequent bathroom visits but she didn't say it was because of carb overload. I'll remember that.

Popping in after a busy couple of days. Think the car shopping is done, just waiting for the dealer to get it from another dealership and add one or two must haves. Hope to be driving my brand new car by Thanksgiving. HappyWill definitely ease the pain of saying goodbye to my previous car (which I loved)

Patoo, I am so sorry to hear you were blindsided by the Diabetes diagnosis. We are here to help you thru the changes and I agree that the South Beach diet books are really helpful with the glycerin index info.

Twohobbies, hoping for great outcomes with minimal treatment for your son.

Badger, Dollywood sounds fun! Course I could go for anywhere in the mountains, Tennessee Pennsylvania or West Virginia.

Claire, enjoy your soup. Sounds yummy!

Mommy of 2, enjoy your new furbaby!

Exercise for me over the past several days has been lots of walking around car dealership lots. Today I went for a 4 mile run in my neighborhood before coming home to spend all afternoon doing laundry. Think I am ready for my Thanksgiving 5k run.

Wishing everyone a leisurely Sunday evening.

11/23- patoo, one of the challenges of changing your diet this time of the year is the holidays. Today I bought a sugar free (made with Splenda) apple pie and tried it! My family that is coming to town eats sugar, so we are doing some other things for them. But I decided I did not want to feel deprived so I bought a pie for me!

The brand is Jesse Lord, and not sure what your best stores are in NJ, but check the bakery section of your favorite store and ask if they have a sugar free section. Most are starting to carry sugar free cookies, cakes, pies, etc. now.

Mommy- sounds like you found a new kitten this weekend! Happy

Bitterly cold here today, but got to the gym and did 42 minutes on the bike for a total of 9.34 miles. I have not totalled up my steps for today yet, but hoping to make it to 8K today.

    Odie16,

We just bought a new car too. 2015 Mazda 3 Hatchback although I really hate the thought of getting rid of my PT Cruiser...I loved that car. But, it was giving me trouble & mechanic couldn't pinpoint what the problem was except that the next step would be to take the transmission apart. So, we bought our first brand new car. We've always had 2 cars but they were all used which was fine. So, I'll see how difficult it will be to learn all the high tech gadgets these new cars are equipped with these days.

Congrats Pita119!!!!! This car will be the second new car for me. Bought my very first new one 3 years ago and loved it. Actually planned to drive it at least 10 years but....Unfortunately someone rearended me at a traffic light hence the new car. I had a Nissan Rogue and just bought a new one. The body style has changed and my previous color is not available so it will be like a totally different car to me.

Guess we can muddle thru figuring out all the new gadgets together. Winking

    Odie16,

Getting the car home in one piece is my biggest fear. I've been driving for 39 years, no accidents but many, many, many close calls & it would just be my luck to have someone hit me coming home with it. Wish me luck!!!!

Yes i did Jazzy. She's a ball of fire in the mornings. Keeping her food and water out of the dogs reach so until she is able to get to her food and water on her own, we have to bring her to it.

Went to yoga, then stayed and did 30 minutes on one of the fancy treadmills. I have a dinner meeting tonight so will have to skip Zumba (boo hoo).

Odie and Pita, I'm sure all will/went well getting your new wheels home - lucky ladies indeed! TwoHobbies, I really hope results point to "minor" for your son. Take care of you too. Patoo, wishing you all the best in getting backed out of type 2.

No gym today yet ran a comfortable 6 miler midday as it was an absolutely fabulous, clear, sunny, blue sky, open countryside beautiful day (not to be confused with the horrible, dull gray rainy weekend weather I just suffered through).

    Winking

My exercise for last week consisted of walks (1.5-2.5 miles) most days. Been a bit chilly for the pool. Now I keep to keep up motivation this week. Just got my Kadcyla infusion and that always knocks me down for a few days afterwards.

Claire, I look forward to reading your account of the conference. I wanted to comment on a point you made a few pages back - walking to do errands adds up. I can attest to that! Both times I lost weight was when I moved to a place where I had to walk all the time - first when I moved to Africa for Peace Corps and then when I moved to NYC for work. My walking has really fallen to the wayside since I had to move in with my family in FL for treatment although I've still lost weight from various stomach/appetite/eating issues that treatment brought on. To be honest though, I've probably lost muscle mass as well. I can't wait to get back to living in a more walkable city. Hopefully NYC again.

For those who are looking for veggies while eating out - that's why I love ethnic restaurants. Love a big plate of chana masala or hot bowl of vegetable pho. Yum!

I ended up walking 55 minutes yesterday. It turned cold and snowed today so only 20 minutes today and now I'm sitting down for a cup of hot tea!

    Pita119,

I am praying we both make it home safe. LOL Lilacblue, I aspire to get to the point of running a comfortable 6 miler...

Today was a gorgeous day over 70 degrees yet we are expecting snow Wednesday. Crazy weather! Looks like I may be running my turkey trot in 3-6 inches Devil

Today's exercise was bootcamp... Happy Monday all.

I did my stretching/toning and then 30 minutes on the treadmill both on Saturday and today.

Patoo - good luck with your nutritionist appt. I'll bet that will be very helpful. I saw one in early October and she gave me some good info. It's kind of odd...I almost feel like I'm actually eating more, but I guess it's things that are good for me, so it's 'ok'!

    Good night all!

Today I rowed on the machine, 3K. Hope to do some yoga when I get home before supper
