My exercise for yesterday was walking around Costco. Today's exercise was a nice 5 mile walk with a friend around a local lake before running the usual Saturday errands. Almost 20,000 steps and over 7 miles per the Vivofit.

Need daily accountability for my diet as well so I can lose the 5 lbs that I gained during the cruise in June so I am doing the Simple Start program via Weight Watchers for the month of August. Day one done.

Went to a swim practice for the Triathalon and I was able to swim the whole 1/2 mile. Such a relief since I have not been swimming at all and was concerned that the 3 weeks remainingmight not be enough time. I guess my exercise in the gym all winter carried over because I did better than I ever have. So I am confident about the swim and bike portions; I just need to get my run up to a 5k. Feeling hopeful...

Way to go Odie! On to Day 2.

    Great pictures Ruth!

Hi All. Last week was so hot, humid, and miserable that I didn't go outside for any walking/running. I did workout with my Leslie Sansone CD. The humidity dropped on Friday and it was a lovely day! We decided to go up to the mountains to go tubing on the New River. It was so much fun! 5 hours of floating down a river with little rapids is very zen-like. So peaceful.

Walked/ran early this evening. Hoping the humidity continues to stay low for awhile.

Edited to add: that's great Ginger!

Mary & Ginger, like the yearly outcomes and Ginger, I'm hopeful for you too. Mary, you can teach that running clinic for your onc and you'd be great at it. Like the photos and Scottie & Nisa, you ladies are awesome! Little Blue, wassup and Wonderland & Odie - amazing! HeidiHill, you, my european sister, have shown me a way forward in recovery - thank you!

Taught 5 body balance/flow cover classes last week after seeing my physio on Monday.

The nerve pain that started at my lower back on the right and ran down my right leg to outside ankle was wearing me thin and ragged by last class yesterday morning yet, was able to smile and mask it.

Yesterday afternoon, after being inspired by HeidiHill's previous post to me - visited for the 1st. time an acupuncturist - a excellent referral offered to me by a knowledgeable woman I trust. Wow, was that incredible and so much relief from one visit! This woman was thorough, had wonderful energy-quite a sage and enjoyed being in her presence. After treatment and a good nights sleep, this morning I'd say 83% better nerve pain wise and one area near my ankle still want's to fizz but I'm lying low today and observe if it lessens or get's stronger. I'm very pleased so far with results.

Mahalo nui loa to all our beautiful women of this active tribe.

LB you went 0 to 100 as an instructor congratulations, glad the acupuncturist was able to help, it is an ancient art that really works. Wonderland and TH I don't know how you stand the humidity it really is unbearable. Great job Ginger you hard work has really paid off and you'll knock that 5k out no worries. Ruth love the 'cheese' picture.

I have been a slug lately, Friday I went and visited with my former BodyJam instructor and her beautiful new baby and yesterday I spent the day on a boat, we just stayed tied up at the dock and visited and ate and I stayed out of the sun under a sunshade for 8 hours but wouldn't you know it I got a little burned on my right shoulder, side of my nose and under my right eye, I did have sunscreen on but I guess it was from the reflection off the water, sigh.... This morning made it to Body Step class, Mary I thought if you as I have done this release 3 times and I knew there was a lot of squats in it so when we did the squat track I counted 124 ooeeee.

hey all! It's been a while since I checked in here. I've been doing 15-20 minute walks during break when I can at work. Otherwise it's mostly just busy working woman activities. Never use the elevator at the office, lotsa steps just doing housework and running errands . Yesterday I also power washed half the garage and hauled brush from tree trimming. Currently at Atlanta airport waiting for flight to Columbia SC. Co-worker brought a Zumba dvd so we're gonna try to hit that several times while here (two full weeks this time - testing a new billing platform on-site ar our soFtware developer's office.

Had good news on the genetic testing- I don't carry any markers for any of the 27 different genes they tested 😀. Happy about that but even more happy for my daughter and her future with less worry about it. Don't have date yet but hysterectomy will probably be August 27 or sept 3. Enjoyed DS being home this weekend- it's a blast to enjoy the kids as fully functioning adults now they're incredible and my heart just overflows with love for them.

Love to all my sculpted sisters

Oh Sweet what a relief, I am so happy for you and glad you got to spend time with your kids.

Well just to prove that I am kind of crazy, tonight I drove down to San Diego with a friend for a Body Jam class, a guy we have been dancing with did the training and filmed tonight so we went down to support him, he should pass he was really good did a great presentation I counted 2 little bobbles but he was flawless otherwise so it was 2 hours down, danced then 2 hour drive home, see told you I was crazy Loopy

S&S, good news indeed for you and darling daughter on free of markers! Cheryl, I had a bobble and said so in my comments and passed. I'm sure your friend will as well. Nothing like holding a new baby and thanks to you and Ginger for acupuncture support. Feeling even more relief today- amazing.

Sweet - congrats on the good marker news. Cheryl - 124 squats? I'm up to 40 on my program and can feel them - I'd be unable to walk for a week if I did 124! Sounds like you had fun buzzing down to SD. LB - great that you got some relief from the acupuncture. Ruth - your baseball and Wisconsin cheese pix makes me eager to get up there - we fly out to Chicago this Friday morning , and will be at Wrigley by Friday afternoon!

Did Garden N Sculpt up at the cabin this weekend, plus I got in a good 30 interval training run Sunday morning.

Have not been on here for ages but nice to old faces and new. Claire, big congrats to end of Anastrozole. I am halfway to the 5 year mark and then we shall see about another five.

I am still exercising lots though today am laying around in a quiet house. I had my latest bone density test recently after 2.5 years and it showed a 3% loss in spine and 5% in right femoral neck since then and now both osteopenic but MO still thinks all the weight bearing I am doing is good. I did a 22 km hike Thursday with 700 meters of elevation gain and other than sore toes, no aches and pains. In training for yet another trek in the fall this one in Bhutan and then later, another in Nepal to an area devastated by the April earthquake to see how we can help.

    Lots of yoga too

Hi Mariane! Sounds like you are really on the move!

Sweet, glad your testing turned out as you hoped. Definitely a load off your mind.

Glad the acupuncture is working, Lilac.

    Have fun at Wrigley, Nats!

Oh my, we had such a wonderful day yesterday. My uncle was totally surprised by the birthday party. A fun, fun party (and cooperative weather which made it pleasant to be outside), yummy food, lots of people & visiting. Almost all my relatives from my mom's side of the family were there; so I got to spend time with all the great, fun people to whom I am lucky enough to be related. I want to post a picture, but don't know which one to pick!!!!!

We ended up driving all the way home last night. DH had a meeting this afternoon & it seemed smarter to drive through Minneapolis when we did instead of trying to get through the morning rush hour traffic. We got home about 2am....I went to yoga, will do zumba & plan to go to bed really early tonight!!!!!

Good luck, Odie with your WW. I'm kind of in a vicious circle because I exercise more, I'm starving and have less control over what I eat. Then because I feel I ate poorly its time to go out and exercise more. I'm trying to reform every day.

Ginger good news on the swimming! Keep up the good work. Sweet, good news on the testing. Ruth, you seem to be having too much fun this summer. I'm jealous! And Lilac, good to hear the good report on acupuncture. I have never tried it.

Yesterday I rode my bike 55 minutes. Today I walked for 35. Narrowly missed a tornado yesterday evening. We were sitting in a restaurant and everyone's phone alerts went off. Tornado warning - oh great, where is it - yikes- about 4 miles from where we were! It started about a mile farther south and 4 miles east of us and ended up about 2 miles directly north of where we were. Feeling a little lucky today.

Ginger, I am sure you will be great with the 5k. You got this!!

Lilacblue, glad the acupuncture is helping you. Way to power thru in the interim.

Twohobbies, too too close! Glad you are ok.

Wonderland, totally understand about the humidity issues. Way to go for finding an alternative.

Sweet, as a parent that news is such a relief. Now you and your daughter can breathe a bit easier.

Exercise for me yesterday was bathing my two dogs. One was a breeze while the other was quite the workout..........LOL Tonight was back to bootcamp. Staying strong with the diet and hope to drop the pesky 5lbs in no time.

Thanks all – I’ve been too busy to really worry about the genetic testing
but still a relief to get good news. Cheryl you are totally crazy but what a
great supportive friend to that far for his filming! LB – glad the acupuncture is helping. I’d
love to try it sometime but have no idea if we have an acupuncturist anywhere
nearby. Nats – really missed you in CA this year. I still plan on tats at some
point so when I see Vinnie I’ll definitely wanna hook up with you. Marianelizabeth – wow! Bhutan and Nepal – how exciting! I did the Machu Picchu trek back in 2002 and
realize now I did not appreciate what I was experiencing nearly enough. I would love to have another challenge and
experience another part of the world that way some day. Ruth – I’m not sure who on this site would
get the ‘Energizer Bunny’ award but you would certainly be in the running. Scottie – sounds like post-exchange is going
well for you. Be careful not to over-do it.
Even though you feel great there’s still lots of internal healing going
on that you don’t want to mess with. Congrats on the exchange! TwoHobbies – did you consider buying a
lottery ticket or two? So glad you were
safe and hope there wasn’t too much damage or injury. I haven’t had much time
to catch up on national news the past few days.

I managed to get in a 30 minute walk last night
and tonight in hot and humid South Carolina. I’m here with two co-workers for
two weeks doing some software testing and they’re both into walking so that’s
really good. Usually when I’m on the
computer all day at work it’s the last thing I wanna do when I get home but
since I’m in a hotel room and don’t have housework, laundry, cooking, grocery
shopping, yard work or any of that to do I was inspired to actually respond to
the posts from today. It’s feels like it’s
been forever since I’ve done much more than lurk and speed read and occasionally
report on some personal physical activity.
    Love y’all!

Oh - btw - hysterectomy (vaginal with laparoscopic (sp?) assist) will be September 3. Minimum 4 weeks for recovery - maximum 12. I'm hoping for the 4. Outpatient procedure and hospital is only 1/2 mile away so just a quick drive there and back that day. Gotta admit that I worry with another opportunity for general anesthesia I'm going to get even stupider again. I've gotten soooooo forgetful and foggy! I'm a little over half-way to the 5year mark on generic arimidex and am hoping the fog starts to dissipate when I'm all done.

    Sleep well!

    Hi all,

Just getting around to posting pix from Saturday's whirlwind adventure. Got up at 4:30 returning at 9:30p. Two ferry rides, and 160 miles of driving. 68 miles of cycling. The most glorious day and it was COOL out on the Olympic Peninsula. I think that Marianne Elizabeth will recognize some of the views as I am sure she sees Mount Baker from another angle.

    Here goes. - Claire

    Gorgeous pasture and inlet.

    image

Olympic Mountains in background. Note that I did NOT do the ride up Hurricane Ridge!

    image

View east to the Cascade Range and Mount Baker.

    image

More Cascades with San Juan Islands in foreground.

    image

    Jardin du Soleil Lavender farm.

    image

    Wildflower border with lavender.

    image

Final lavender farm with fruit trees. They made hibiscus/lavender iced tea for us.

View from the top, and fortunately downhill from here to the START!!!!

We have had lots of rain here, so not much outdoor exercise lately but a nice 35 min walk tonight and enjoyed seeing all the lush greenery and wildflowers from all the summer rains. Such a problem to have in the desert, eh?

Ruthbru- great photos and that burger pic makes me hungry and so do the cheese pics. I hope your travels are going well.

Sweetandspecial- I wish you the best on your hysterectomy. I had one right before my bc surgery and the way you are having it done should allow for a quicker recovery. Also, congrats on your genetics tests.

I have been out of the loop, as I went to Houston to visit my inlaws. It was a fun, quick getaway. I feel like I might have eaten too much, back to my normal routine now. Today, I walked 3 miles in the early morning hours. I will make the most of this week, as it is my last week of vacation. It is time to get all my fun squeezed in

Beautiful pix, Claire! Hope you got some sleep Ginger. Hate that feeling of being wide awake at 3am!

Started a new 5K app this morning - this is an interval running training app. I did 35 minutes, but unfortunately I went out too fast on the "fast" intervals, and let's just say it got pretty ugly by the end.Shocked

But the nice things about these apps is that you can just do the same day over and over again till you can do it, so I'll just repeat it a few more times. I decided to sign up for the Fall 10K running clinic that's given by our local road runner's club. It's the same clinic I took last year, and it was excellent - we learned a lot of techniques, learned about injury avoidance, and yep - they really pushed us. I lost 10 pounds last fall thanks to the clinic, but unhappily given the stress of everything we had over this spring and summer (moving, dealing with the flood, my FIL's death, our identity being stolen, plus a high pressure under-resourced project at work) I've gained it back. Sooooooo, back to Square 1. Devil The clinic starts on the 18th of this month so I'll keep working my app as a bit of preparation.

TwoHobbies, w0w, so if the tornado comes closer you drive away in the opposite direction or do establishments have shelters to go down into? Annie, enjoy your last bit of freedom, Kindergarten good on the walking, Odie, inspiring as always, Ginger, you too, S&S, hoping for fast, smooth recovery for upcoming op, Cheryl, what classes today? Ruth you seem to have a well and high functioning family. Scottie, well done and in Atlanta heat - really good.

Taught two classes today with almost two hour break in between, so spent that time practising release 69 and nearly ready to roll on it.

Went to cardio sculpt this morning & yoga tonight.

Lilac, since I've gotten home from my uncle's 80th birthday festivities, I have been reflecting on my family. Especially my uncle & his bride of 59 years, my lovely aunt. Even though they have faced many challenges in life (including the loss of a child, which to me seems the hardest thing of all), they have kept engaged, kept their senses of humor, an appreciation for the blessings in life, and have been been a blessing to others as well. Truly a wonderful example of lives well lived.

32 minute MW (muggy walk) in a nice little subdivision by the hotel with a few squats, jumping jacks, side shuffles, etc thrown in as we turned each corner. We took turns determining direction at the corner and started requiring some sort of 'extra' at each one. I'm certainly dripping liquid awesome from head to toe right now. Will do a few situps, pushups and some stretching before showering.
