I am so sorry for the loss of your friend Badger.
Great photo Mary.
Ruth, love your WWW group. How nice to have friends to walk with regularly.
Speaking of walking, my exercise today was a 30 minute walk squeezed in after a crazy busy day at work.
Now off to soak my sore muscles before bed. Good night all!

Badger prayers for the loss of your friend.
Geewiz. . .wow. My PS prohibited me from really hot temps. No immersion in hot baths, hot tubs etc. Have no idea about sauna but the meds they have me on for chemo pause cause hot enough flashes. Feels like I'm in a dry sauna.
I see MO again on Friday. Will find out whether my exercise is working. I'm with you Reader. Some days after work and exercise I'm exhausted.

(((badger))) I'm sorry for the loss of thefuzzylemon. Ruth, I like that style of Zumba (on the floor). Interesting pic, Mary. Waving back, LB!
Walked around a lake with my sister Tuesday, then tangoed last night. Will try to catch Body Pump today.

Cute picture, Ruth!! OK, I'll root for your Twins if you don't tell my MIL who is an Angel fanatic!

We're off to Tennessee at the crack of dawn tomorrow for DH's nephew's wedding this weekend. Both bride and groom are baseball nuts, so the invitation was baseball-themed. There was even a "ticket" enclosed with the wedding info printed like event info, and the stub showed Section 9, Row 26, Seat 15 (the wedding date - 9/26/15). The whole thing was full of clever touches like that. And the invitation said that dress is casual, and baseball jerseys are encouraged attire. My kind of wedding!! They're a fun young couple, and I think the wedding is going to be great. My MIL is traveling all the way from California to surprise them. My wonderful SIL (who just passed her 5 year b/c survival mark) will be coming with her, so it's going to be a lot of fun. My MIL is remarkable - this year her husband of 67 years died, she had cataract surgery, and a hip replaced and yet she's rarin' to go.
30 minute run this morning. Loving these cooler temps!

NatsFan: Love this picture and your post! I live in your area and am Nats fan, too. Enjoyed your comment that evening at lost baseball game beats most evenings elsewhere. Bryce for MVP....
Nats, I am newly diagnosed and so upset and scared. Am fortunate that my BC is very small and early stage. But I also have ALH and LCIS, dense tissue, strong family history, and am considering a CPM. Will see MO Monday morning to discuss situation and treatment options. Already thinking that, if chose CPM, want to be adequately recovered by the time pitchers and catchers show up in March!
Great to find threads here with physically active participants. I work part time in a library and do lots of lifting, pushing, etc....and I have 13-month-old standard poodle puppy with whom I'm out for two hours a day.
Thanks a lot, Nats. Finding your posts has made my day better.

Welcome Girl53! We're getting quite a group of DC area folks on this thread. Yep - Bryce for MVP! As a matter of fact, I plan to wear my Bryce All Star jersey to the wedding!
So glad you found us - this is a great group. Hang in there - I think all of us would agree that you're going through the worst part now. Your whole world has turned upside down, and you just don't know where to turn or what to do. But as you get your medical appointments and sort out your medical team, you'll start to learn more and feel more in control. And when you finally get a game plan in place, it really does get better. Meanwhile it sounds like between the library and your pup, you're getting lots of exercise. That's good - you'll sleep better if you're physically tired at night. I LOVE standard poodles! What color is yours??

I'm sorry (((Badger))) for your loss and not responding sooner and S&S, sorry to read of Pontiac Peggy's sad loss; I think she is so cool. I love this thread, Outrunning asking about cording with Mary, Reader and geewhiz offering their experience. Girl53 welcome and we all have been where you are in feelings towards what we are going through. HeidiHill, you tango too(?)..how cool is that! Ruth, a stellar photo of you and your class to inspire. Come on Cheryl, post a before and after of your posse.
Pink ribbon pilates this morning and working on refining my technique, cues and music for release #70.

Girl53 glad you found us. I got my DX at the beginning of August and the ladies here in the topics I follow have been amazing. I too am in DC. I can't join you and Natsfan in you passion for the Nats. I married a car / jazz guy so not much sports going on in my house. I enjoy watching almost all sports but sit. Really have any team allegiances.FYI I'm being treated at Sibley
My sport of choice to watch is cycling. I'm going to Richmond this weekend to watch the World Road Championships. I don't watch much now. But before husband and kids when my mom was alive we went the the U.S. Championships something like 13 out of 15 years. And we followed the Tour DuPont every year it existed and went to the Olympics in Atlanta. And to the Tour de France. Plus many other races.
Saw my trainer this morning. Due to cording he had me do no arms. Just easy on the legs and a couple core moves. I was a couple minutes late so many 50 minutes instead of 60. Still a long time to do nothing but legs. Then I walked my kids to school. About 1.25 miles there.
Now I'm in the office waiting for the RO. And then the BS re cording.

Nats, Lilac, Outrunning: Thanks SO much for your replies. Feel so much better. Am finding that, with new dx, some days are okay and other days are major meltdowns. Am trying to be patient with fear and sadness and know, as you said, that once details and treatment plan start coming into focus, it won't be as bad. This limbo stage is so hard. You should have seen me a couple of weeks ago after Drew Storen and bullpen had their bad day(s)....whew!
I come from a family of serious couch potatoes. But my wonderful late husband, who passed away of a brain tumor 10 years ago, was a sports and exercise nut. And my now (and wonderful) husband is a runner and lover of baseball and basketball. Over adult life, have been "moving" more and more and am fitter now than I've ever been. But with new dx, this will be even more important.
Am info gathering and considering the lumpectomy/radiation/AI route and the contralateral prophylactic mastectomy w/reconstruction (and probably AI?) route. Doing genetic testing due to rampant family history. And so hoping that women who chose mastectomy and take the chemopreventive are able to recover well from surgery and tolerate meds side effects and keep that body moving.
Thanks again, wonderful ladies. My puppy, Desi -- who, Nats, is a black and white parti named after our shortstop -- will be turning the game on at 4 p.m. With big hugs.

Girl - given your pup's name, does he drop the ball a lot???
(Our shortstop tends to be a bit error-prone.)0 -
Nats: He does... Maybe we should have named him Espinosa. Go Danny!!!!

(((Badger))) I was so sorry to hear about Chris passing. Welcome to the thread Girl, when I was first diagnosed I bought myself a CD with uplifting songs and I when I felt overwhelmed I would get in my car blast it and sing my heart out and that is what would calm me down and I did lots of yoga deep breathing, it really is overload at the beginning, it's like going to a new country and you've never heard the language before and they expect you to have a full blown conversation. Ruth great pictures love the before and after and what's with the WWW girls all in sweaters I am so envious, we are still in swelter mode, I hate to think what my electricity bill is going to look like we have fans going all day and night. LB good luck with 70, our programs launch on October 3rd, anyone who wants to try classes can get in for free at any 24 on the 3rd and you should be my FB friend that's where I post all my pictures but they're usually me and cute young handsome instructors - and now you know why I flit from gym to gym and take all different classes, that being said last night did Body Combat Express (30 minutes) followed immediately by Grit Cardio.

9/24- great resistance training session at the gym today for an hour. Tonight I will walk or bike!

Welcome, girl53. Major meltdowns permitted. Come here when you need a boost and we will give you a hug
Reader just keep doing what you can and pretty soon it gets easier and easier. But even I still get tired when I do a lot. But it helps you sleep!
Mary I loved your fog over the meadow picture. I see that everyday on my way to work. It's definitely a September/October thingwhen the temps are just right.
Ruth funny before and after pic.
So I said I was going to do yoga last night but when I got on you tube I ended up turning on salsa lessons and danced the salsa! Heidi maybe I'll try tango too! No exercise today because I'm going out to dinner.
PS ladies. I had cording too but never developed lymphodema and it just went away after a time. (Ha ha spellcheck called lymphodema lump harems-what???)

I got out for a 4 mile walk this afternoon followed by a 2 mile run. My fitbit was over 20,000 steps. Feeling my broken toe a bit now but hoping it calms down quickly. I have been missing exercise because I am caring for my MIL as she recovers from a serious car accident. She lives an hour away and I go every day when school gets out to settle her for the evening. But my SIL was able to go today so I wanted to make the most of my free time.

girl53-so sorry you have to be here but you will find so much support on these boards. I am BRCA2+ and had bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and AI. I became more active a couple of years after my diagnosis and have found that regular exercise keeps the side effects of the AI down and more tolerable.

Hbcheryl and TwoHobbies: Thanks for welcome. Will sing my heart out. You ladies are inspiring me to get moving!

Welcome Girl53, another DC girl here treated at Sibley. Happy with my team. As others have said as your plan comes together the tension should ease. Hang in there!
All, I'm too tired tonight to name names but appreciate all the kind comments and support. After I get the laundry up from the basement I'll hit nearly 10,000 steps.
And to all a good night

Welcome Girl53! I am not in Dc but just over the pond in No Va. Agree with everyone that the initial period is the worst due to the unknown and our own imagination. Once you have a plan in place, it will get better. Allow yourself the moments and vent to us as needed. We have all been there. By the way, I had a miniature white poodle growing up.
Ruth, funny photos.
Exercise today was bootcamp again. Tonight's circuit was a half mile run, 100 overhead presses, 200 pushups and 300 squats before finishing with another half mile run. Definitely going to sleep good tonight.
Sweet dreams all!

Welcome Girl53. Yes, you are in the worst part, once you find a plan that fits you and commit to it....then you just do it and get it over with (spoken as someone who spent a fair share of time sobbing so hard that I either had to knock it off or throw up). I kept exercising, which did help, AND I got a prescription for sleeping pills (which I absolutely needed and was very grateful for). So, you do what you need to do to get through it, and know there will be many good days to come.
Ginger, sorry about you MIL. Hope she makes a quick recovery.
Mary, glad your MIL is doing so well. The wedding sounds like a blast! You will have to give us a full report!
If you saw how cute Cheryl's exercise instructors are, you would want to go to as many classes as possible too!

I did my Cardio Sculpt this morning & Zumba tonight. I am going over to school tomorrow & being the guest speaker for my friend's class. Her kids just finished doing research projects on the presidents, and since that is a hobby of mine, she said she'd buy me lunch if I'd come over I tell them some Presidential Trivia stories.....I hope she doesn't mean school lunch!!!!!!!

Girl53: WELCOME!
Nats: the wedding sounds fantastic and very creative. Have fun!
Badger: Sorry about fuzzeylemon.
Odie: I'm sore just reading what you did tonight!
Ginger: Hope your MIL heals quickly.
Well, I did it. I turned 60 today! Went to our county's fair with a good friend of mine and out to eat dinner with my family. I love birthdays!

I've been lurking for a couple days...I just found this thread & really love reading your inspiring posts! I am 44, diagnosed in January with stage 3 IDC and have completed 5 months of chemo as well as a BMX and lymph node dissection. I will start rads next month. I am an exercise fanatic & I credit exercise to helping me fare so well through this journey. My drug of choice is running & I'm happy to say that I was able to run 25-30 miles a week throughout my chemo. On my chemo days, I would actually get up at 4:00 in the morning so I could run for an hour before leaving at 6:30 for chemo. Some might call that crazy but to me it was my happy place. It's been 5 weeks since my BMX & I'm slowly regaining those miles. Additionally, I do Pilates on the reformer twice a week and kickboxing once a week. I have found that since chemo, I've lost some motivation. Is that where this board would help keep me accountable? Thanks in advance for your support!

Lazy week but back on track tomorrow!!

Surgery tomorrow to try to put a rod in my arm with a fractured humerus. Hopefully after I finish I can get back in the swing of things. ☺

Was the last one in at Body Pump so didn't have the weights I needed anymore. I did the routine anyway, which ended up too easy or too hard. Sort of like HIIT. I left 10 minutes earlier to do HIIT on the wave runner and stretches afterwards.
Just saw this article on Tango in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/25/arts/dance/queer-tango-brings-its-liberated-style-to-new-york.html. I have not been to a queer milonga but I do dance a lot with my SIL and a girlfriend who both know how to dance the man's part.
Twohobbies, I have tried to learn the man's part for salsa but it hasn't sunk in. The woman's part makes me dizzy with all the turns.
Good luck on the surgery, socal!

Angiel hi. I'm an Angela too. And a runner, as you might guess from my screen name. But I usually don't get in the miles you do. I'm trying to convince myself I'm a real runner because I only started 2 1/2 years ago. (Also "outrunning" cancer)
There's a dedicated running thread too. A couple of us are on both. You might want to stop in at
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/58/topic/...
heidihill I swing dance. Not much these days but before kids and husband I'd dance 13 out of 14 days. I can also tango and waltz little bit. I had an instructor who did all and taught classes so the swing dancers could survive at a social dance with a mix. Despite several attempts at learning I can't lead at all. So if you can lead in any genre my hat is off to you.
I will be thinking of you SoCalLisa and praying for you and your medical team. Because as I said before my LX, no one wants the surgeon who is having a bad day.
