Ladies in their 30s

hi lucky! I'm considering an ooph too - family history of ovarian cancer and 99% ER+. Still waiting on my BRCA results. My doc says menopause in your 30s has a lot of complications but what could be worse than cancer, right? I'm wondering if osteoporosis was mentioned as an issue to you?
Btw, ladies, is it not an eye-opening experience to be the youngest one in the cancer treatment waiting room? Egad!

Very new here.
I am 32 and was diagnosed today. A few weeks ago I was having some pain (probably because one of my kids decided to jump on me yet again) and noticed a lump. The mammogram and ultrasound was Wednesday. Thursday (yesterday) I had the biopsy. This afternoon I got called with the diagnosis. It will be another week before we have more details from the biopsy. I have an MRI on Tuesday and am meeting with the surgeon on Wednesday.
My husband and I just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in January. We have 2 girls (7 and 5) and an almost-3-year-old boy.
The kids are the best distraction from keeping me from self pity and worry. The 7-year-old is the only one who kinda grasps that Mom is sick and is going to go see a doctor to help me get better.
My husband just seems to be in the overwhelmed stage. It's been a whirlwind the past two days, plus the kids went back to school on Tuesday, so it has been a crazy week.
I am a scientist. I process samples (plasma, serum, tissues) as we try to learn more about diseases like diabetes and cancer. So usually I'm handling various tumor samples from collaborating institutions, so now I'm kinda on the other side of it. My husband owns and operates a window blinds company. The company is small, just him, but it's been growing since he started it last year.

Hi skittlegirl- so sorry you have to join us, but this is a great, supportive community. It sounds like you are moving along toward getting your treatment sorted out, which makes things a little tiny bit less scary, I bet! All the best!

skittle girl as you go through your diagnosis be sure to speak with your onsite socialworker. You will have to tell your kids in different ways when it is time. There are materials they can give you. The American cancer society has resources as well. My son who is 8 got different info from me versus my 3yo girl. Hugs. Again sorry for posting on the thirties thread..I just turned 40 in March and the middle age thread just doesn't resonate

Hi,
I'm 34 and was diagnosed with stage 2 mucinous carcinoma. I had a single mastectomy with breast reconstruction. I'm waiting for test results next week to see if chemo is possibly needed. If no chemo is needed, then I'm on Tamoxifen for 5 years, although the doc wants me to be on it for 10 years.
I'm single, with no kids. I used to be an elementary teacher and love kids, and hope to have some one day. My 35th birthday is a month away on October 14. I'm not always big on celebrating it, I hate planning it. However, this year will be a true celebration of life. I'm thankful for each day I get to continue to make memories.
At times when I'd be at weddings I'd be sad and sometimes have a pity party thinking why am I not married yet? At the last wedding I went to, I was so thankful for the opportunity to be able to be there to share in a great moment. I'm waiting to gain strength in my arm so I can start working out again and attack the Spartan races.
It's great to connect with you all!

unbreakeable, I'm right there wtih you. 34, turning 35 actually 2 days after my last chemo next week (happy birthday to ME!)! Single, no kids, just moved down to Florida for my dream job and to start my 'real life'. And then cancer happened. I still have my pity party every once in awhile but realize that I'll get through this, will hopefully find someone that loves me, and still live the life I've always dreamed. If I can't find anyone? It won't be the end of the world. But like you, I can't wait to get my strength and stamina back first and start going back to the gym like I used to!!! It's driving me crazy going from CrossFit 5x a week to MAYBE going once every 3 weeks. Ugh.

StefLove, happy early birthday! How many rounds of chemo did you go through? how was it? I do believe everything happens for a reason. My prince charming is out there somewhere, maybe holding a bottle of Tamoxifen for me. lol
My goal this year was to run in 12 races, I got to 6 before having surgery. The itch is there, but I know to be cautious. You'll get back to CrossFit. I watch American Ninja Warrior and see some of the cancer survivors on that show. That motivates me and gives me hope. I have a video where I went from lifting, to now just stretching.

Unbreakable, thank you! Went through 4 rounds of AC and now 12 rounds of taxol with 4 carboplatins thrown in for fun. I actually have a half marathon I'm registered for on Nov 7th and know it's a lost cause but I might try walking it. Two of my friends said they'll walk the whole thing with me, or at least as much as I can so I might just try. Walking doesn't seem to bother me much and I hopefully will be recovered from chemo before rads start (Rads will prob start the week after the race). We'll see!

Hi Stef,
That's awesome that your friends will do the half with you! I'm thinking about just finding a 5k near my birthday next month to have my friends run with me. Let me know how your half marathon goes.
I just got my Onco DX test back today, the score is low so no chemo. I'm quite happy, I just start Tamoxifen once I fill the prescription.

I just moved here a little over a year ago so I know nothing about florida geography yet, other than Orlando. If anyone wants to start throwing out ideas or somehow move this to another thread, we can!
Unbreakable, awesome news about the low onco score! Slightly jealous, not gonna lie.

Hi ladies..
i dont post much in this forum but keep reading your posts on and off.
we all have got this disease in our 30s and i am sure many got it in their 20s too.
how many of you have got their genetic testing done.
my brca1/2 is done, and gone for a repeat since nothing conclusive came out of it.
dr strongly suspects other mutations and in all probability, in the tp53 gene.
How many carry any one of these harmful genes and how are you and your children handling it? What kind of follow ups do you and your children do ( if any)
Thanks in advance

I'm waiting on a call to hopefully get genetic testing done. Luckily no children- Still though. It sucks. How many of you have had your ovaries removed/hysterectomy? How did you feel after? Were the side effects of instant menopause worse than chemopause?

littleblueflowers I just got my genetic testing results back today they tested me for 7 cancer genes which were all negative which is a relief I don't want to pass anything down to my kids but at the same time I'm like why did I get cancer?
0 -
Yeah, right? No one in my family has ever had cancer. Well I guess the testing will show...I do worry about my brother, if he ever has kids. It will be good for him to know too I suppose..

I tested negative for everything on my genetic testing. It's really kind of a crapshoot, I guess. And there might be a genetic component they just haven't discovered yet.

Hi all,
I was diagnosed a week ago tomorrow, in the midst of surgical decisions, testing, etc. I'm 29 but figured it was clos enough to say hi.
We were married less than 2 months ago, and now it seems like we're making major life decisions in a matter of weeks. It's a whirlwind, but we will get through it.
It is comforting knowing I'm not the only one.

Sorry that you have found yourself here suzer.
What a way to start off the marriage. But hopefully you will have lots more years of "in health" and just this rough part of "in sickness."
We have been on a cycle of something crappy happening every 26 months for the last few years. In May 2011 my dad passed away at the age of 50. In July 2013 I was notified that I could be laid off (didn't happen) and DH was in a car crash that could have killed him, but he escaped with only a broken wrist. Then September 2015 my cancer diagnosis. Definitely a lot of bumps in our 10 years of marriage, but we're surviving everything that gets thrown our way.

I honestly feel so lucky (strange feeling, right?) to have my husband. He is completely my positivity and strength right now, and it's rubbed off on me. We're ready for our "adventure" ahead.

hi sizer!!! Sorry your here but the support is amazing. You are NOT alone

suzer, welcome to our little family You sound like you have a great attitude about it! And feel free to vent and scream over here with us. It helps!

hi suzer and welcome. One of my best friends was diagnosed ar 25, so tough! Glad you have such an upbeat attitude.
I can't remember who asked about genetics. I'm BRCA2 +. Of course I feel sad about the possibility that I passed this to my 3 children. Nobody in my family has breast cancer, I would never have guessed. We are pretty sure my husband is not a carrier, so that gives the children a 50/50 shot.

Hi ladies, how many of you have had pet scans? My oncologist said there is no point in scanning me because by the time it shows up on the scan, it's too late. At 39, I'm worried I have cancer still lurking inside of me! Oncologist said they consider me cancer free until they learn otherwise....not very comforted by that!
