Hi Sylvia, Mary and adagio
adagio thank you so much for your kind, encouraging words. In fact, being a good mom is the greatest responsibility that one can have even if you child is not young anymore. I really long for the days when I see my daughter is grown up and is leading a happy, healthy life full of succes. Athe the same time, as Sylvia said I shouldn't wish my life away. This is a great paradox of my life.
Mary, your suggestions are really precious and I will take all your words by heart. Night time is when all distressing news should be avoided.
Mary, what a common wish we have for snowy days. Whenever there is an even a light snow her, I feel excited to the extent all my negative feelings diappear. Today we had a light snow in Tehran which was a relief to my negative emotions. It didn't last long, but they say we may have it again in two or three days. I really wish for a heavy snow. If only my friend didn't have a recurrence, then my pleasure would be complete. But there is light at the end of tunnel. My daughter has also caught a bug and she can not go to school for some days. Tomorrow, my mom will come to our house to take care of her while I m at work. Now it's 9:30 pm and I m alone with myself. I really appreciate my husband's understanding how I need to be alone with my friends.
To be honest I am taking xanax for a week. I won't continue it more than that. I

Mary, what a common wish we have for snowy days. Whenever there is an even a light snow here, I feel excited to the extent that all my negative feelings diappear. Today we had a light snow in Tehran which was a relief to my negative emotions. It didn't last long, but the weather forecast says we may have it again in two or three days. I really wish for a heavy snow. If only my friend didn't have a recurrence, then my pleasure would be complete. But sure there is light at the end of tunnel. To be honest I am taking xanax for a week. I won't continue it more than that. I hope it helps me with my sleep problems . I wish I were ten or twenty years older when I caught this disease. Yet, I'm happy to find such great friends here. Maybe the universe wanted it to happen to me to achieve earlier maturity .
By the way last week was her 11th birthday.

Hi Hanieh,
Nice to see you again on the thread. I'm sorry to hear about your troubled friend. We know more or less what it is like to be in their places and sometimes we are prone to be very sensitive about these things. We can only pray for them. It is important however, to stay positive and focus on the other important parts of our lives like your precious lovely daughter who looks a lot like you. Thanks for sharing the pics. We still have many blessings to thank for and beautiful things to look forward to. Thinking of happy thoughts and listening to mellow music might help you to sleep better.
Regards,
Gina

Hi Adagio,
It is time for you to celebrate after five years of living with fear of recurrence. I am happy for you. I hope you will fully enjoy your planned vacation in Mexico before Trump starts building that wall! Lol!
You deserve to be happy again.
Take care,
Gina

Hi Mary,
I'm happy you're feeling much better now. Thanks for posting again. It seems not complete without you here.
I hope you dont mind but I am wondering why you are living alone. It is so difficult to do that. I admire your strong will and resilience but really it shouldn't be like that. I am sure you have friends in your community but it is still better if you have a relative with you. I feel for you.
I am sorry to hear about your 21-year old cat. I do not know cats can live that long. We had three local dogs before, with the offspring of the first two living for 12 years. The parents both died 7 years, just a month in between. I like having pet dogs but not the pure breeds because it is so painful when they die. We had a cute chiuhuahua and a Japanese Spitz before.
It is good to have pets, not necessarily big ones. They can take your mind off a lot of things. You can have a small iguana or a frog that you can keep in you pocket and take with you anywhere. Lol. Just imagine being in one of your serious meetings and suddenly your iguana jumps out of your pocket and into the nose of your guest. Wouldnt that be exciting? Lol!
I really wish for you to be happy. If i were with you, we would be frequenting the singles bars and flirt with cute guys. Lol!
I will be having my 2nd Docetaxel iv next week and I hope my two Filgrastim shots which i started yesterday stabilize my ever low wbc and rbc in time. My blood levels are always crazy, never normal. I am lucky not to have my chemos delayed. My left IV hand is slowly drying up and healing. That's a relief.
Ok, this is all for now.
Happy thoughts,
Gina

Hi Sylvia,
Thanks for sharing your daffodil and sunrise pictures with us. For me, these pictures are examples that life's cycle goes on and that Hope springs eternal.
Wish we have many more inspirational pictures, poems and songs to share on this thread that may lift us thru our journeys.
Btw, please watch the Miss Universe Pageant next week which will be held here in the Philippines. We are very excited to see how the candidates will fare and how our country's beautiful spots will be presented.
I hope you dont mind me leaving this post with a Youtube song video that i always watch and listen to when i feel depressed. I love the lyrics. It gives me hope and courage to go on.
Love,
Gina

Hello Mary
Thank you for your post. Once again thank you for all the effort you made.
Like you, I am busy and still trying to catch up. There is still a lot of information to go through from Chris Woollams first email in January and now another one has arrived. I have not looked at it yet. When I can I shall probably try to pick out the most relevant and the most useful for those going through treatment.
Talk to you later.

Hello everyone,
This is another poem by my friend. We all have our own opinions about Donald Trump, so please remember this is just a poem. I think my friend strikes a middle road here.
All the news here is about the USA and the new President or Brexit. There are interesting discussions going on with reference to Brexit about who is Sovereign, the people of this country or their MPs. I have no allegiance to any party any more and I think that the people are Sovereign. However, I think that the Establishment is trying to sabotage the Brexit vote. The people voted in a majority to leave the EU and I think that should be respected, but I have doubts that it will be.
It is a very cold day here but the sun is actually shining.
That is about all for now.
Best wishes

DONALD TRUMP
NOW THERE IS THIS MAN WHO IS QUITE PLUMP
AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S DONALD TRUMP
BUT HE'S THE RIGHT ONE SOME DO SAY
TO BE THE LEADER OF THE U S A
THE ELECTION PROCESS HE DID WIN
SO HIS TERM OF OFFICE WILL BEGIN
BUT THERE ARE THINGS THAT PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE
AND THAT DONALD TRUMP SHOULD GET ON HIS BIKE
DONALD TRUMP IN OFFICE IT SHOULD NOT BE
BUT HERE IN BRITAIN WE WILL WAIT AND SEE
IF THE PROMISES THAT HE DID MAKE
HE HAS NOT MADE THEM BY MISTAKE
SO AS WE GO THROUGH EACH YEAR
IS THERE ANYTHING WE SHOULD FEAR
BECAUSE DONALD TRUMP WILL BE OUT THERE
TELLING US WE NEED HIS HELP AND CARE

Hello Mary,
I have just read the latest email from Chris Woollams and again there is a lot of interesting information. I also clicked on all the sub headings and then printed everything out. There is a huge amount of information.
I have not yet put any information on the thread from all the subtitles from the first email earlier this month.
I was wondering how you are doing with all this?
I have just been looking again at the first subject on the first email -
1. So what are the four pillars of cancer?
In the more detailed information we have
Pillar 1 – Poor diet
Pillar 2 – Environmental causes of cancer
Pillar 3 – Infection
Pillar 4 – Mental attitude and stress
I then clicked on these four titles and got a lot more pages of information.
I think adagio reads Cancer Active but I do not know if anyone else on the thread is reading these.
If not, it is a pity, because all this information is important and empowering.
Have clicked on the Cancer Active home page and Chris Woollams' Health Watch home page. I have yet to read this in detail.
I noticed that on the latest email number 3 is entitled Having a Rotator Cuff Operation. I thought this would be of interest to you. I would be interested in any comments you have to make on anything.
Thinking of you and sending best wishes.

Hello Everyone,
I just finished 8 of 25 radiation treatments. At first, I was really run down and fed up with getting ready, going to work, leaving for treatment, changing out of and back into clothes/wig, applying aloe - and then going back to work. But my appointments are now in the morning, so I start there, then I get to work and stay. That has made a big difference for the better. The radiation techs are incredibly kind, and the treatment facility is close by. I felt my mood lift and my energy return once I got this new routine in order.
The other thing that's been going on is terrible joint soreness and pain: shoulders, knees, wrists, fingers, ankles, and hips. It seems that this might be common for those of us who are post chemo. I've been trying to do extra stretching and exercise to help with that. I'm also stretching my arms and chest muscles for BMX recovery, and because it's recommended during radiation. That seems to be helping too, though in the beginning, it just gave me more discomfort.
My eyelashes and eyebrows fell out briefly again, and they have just started roaring back. I understand that this is also part of the chemo cycle. My hair is almost long enough for me to go without my wig. I am challenged with finding clothes that don't irritate, but don't accentuate my flatness either. Other than that, I'm looking forward to being able to wear my new prostheses after radiation, and looking into reconstruction options. And I try to remember how tiny these concerns really are.
I'm wishing everyone here as much wellness as possible - those of us who are going through treatment, and those who have completed it.

Hello Pam (lilyp6)
It was nice to hear from you.
It is definitely quite a chore going for radiotherapy five days a week without a break. I was glad to know that you now have your appointments in the morning. That means you get it over with and have the rest of the day in front of you.
It is good to know that the radiation technicians are kind. It makes all the difference to one's mood. Our emotions are all over the place during this cancer treatment.
I was sorry to read that you are suffering from pain and joint soreness in so many parts of your body. Judging from other posts, this seems to be the side effect of the two taxane drugs, Taxol and Taxotere. You should mention it to your oncologist because it looks as though the taxanes are causing neuropathy and there seems to be no cure for this.
Are you getting professional physiotherapy to help you through the after effects of a double mastectomy? It is quite hard doing physiotherapy exercises but just do what you can and do not overdo it. Kath in Australia will soon be starting radiotherapy on January 30th so you may like to compare notes on your treatment and Chris (ChrisAsh) from the UK had finished chemotherapy and was waiting to start radiotherapy. I hope she will post in to let us know whether she has started and then Chris, Kath and you can all compare notes.
We still have Gina and Rhonda going through chemotherapy. Gina is on Taxotere and Rhonda is on Taxol.
Thinking of you and sending best wishes.

Hello Marias,
Thank you for two posts. It is a pity that you did not get any response from the Spanish language community, but you are very welcome with us.
I started this thread in September 2010 and have kept it up for over six years now, but I have found during those years that people come to the forum, start a thread and then it disappears. Originally I started this thread because I thought the UK was in the dark ages especially with TNBC. There have been Brits on and off throughout those years but none stay the course after treatment. I am happy to have all these people from throughout the world and it is an enriching experience. It would be nice to have more Brits, because really cancer treatment in the UK is lagging behind many other countries. Last night I was watching a programme, a proper documentary about what goes on in some of the hospitals and it was mentioned that cancer patients are having to wait months and months for treatment. This is not acceptable. The NHS is not working properly any more. There are not enough doctors etc., there are not enough beds and every day seems to be a nightmare about whether an operation will go ahead or not, whether there will be intensive care beds available or whether there will be available beds in the general wards. The NHS is underfunded and treatment seems to be rationed.
I was glad to know that you have managed to obtain some time off work while you go through treatment. Chemotherapy is the most challenging part of breast cancer treatment and you do need to rest as much as you can. I cannot believe that if you take this sick leave you will lose your job. This is inhumane and would probably be illegal in this country. I remember you said that you were a psychiatrist and that must be a very demanding job.
Take great care of yourself as the fatigue from chemotherapy seems to build up as you proceed with the treatment.
Come to us as often as you like and we shall help you all we can.
As for estradiol I think it is to do with the menstrual cycle, but I am not sure why your doctor would be sending you for a test. You might want to look up estradiol.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estradiol
Sending you very best wishes.

HI, Hanieh,
It is definitely winter here, today it is cold again, and gray. We haven't had a fully sunny day in a long time. I think that is partly why I like snow. In the winter here the all the trees are bare, all except the pines and cedars; everything is brown and gray. When the snow comes there is just a hush over everything and it makes the world so beautiful for a while.
I also like to get in my truck when there is a snowfall, and drive to the farm and drive around in it, up and down the steep hills. Everyone says "Oh don't do that, you might have an accident!" It is my little rebellion!
I hope you can get better sleep, I share that with you too! I often don't sleep enough. I wake too early and can't get back to dreamland.
Hope your daughter is better soon, she is so pretty and looks so sweet!
I will talk to you soon

Hi, Sylvia,
I did zone right in on Chris Woolams' post on Rotator Cuff Surgery. It seems I am back in the position of considering the surgery now. Since Aruba, and my Kayak adventure, my shoulder seems worse. It doesn't hurt while I am lying still in bed, but as soon as I do anything it wakes up and is a burning pain. So I printed off that article and called a doc yesterday. The doc I talked to is included in my insurance plan, it is a free service where you can call a doc 24/7 and ask questions and get advice. They can even prescribe medication for you, but not narcotic drugs. I told him I am trying to make a decision and have neuropathy and the whole story from when it all started. He listened and asked a few questions and said "Well, you may live another 20 or 30 years (eek), do you want to be in pain that long? If you have surgery, you will have pain for a while, but it will get better." He also said he has several rotator cuff patients who had surgery, and about 85% of them are happy with results. I guess I am still rather nervous about the neuropathy causing more pain than I have now, I've just had some bad experiences since the chemo, and I'm paranoid. I guess my next step is to call the orthopedic doc that I saw, and lay it all before him again. It has been a year since I saw him.
I also clicked the post on "Global Warming" and wanted to cheer as I read it! I so agree with Chris! The truth is the earth has been here for roughly 4 billion years, and much in the way of "climate change" has happened in that time. I think it is quite arrogant of many people to think we have so much control over the climate. Just 100,000+ years ago much of North America was covered by a sheet of ice, not a small sheet of ice, in some places a mile thick. No humans around to take the blame. Earth also was covered at one time a few billion years ago by volcanoes and fire, and by water later! My opinion: it is possible the climate is changing, but I doubt we can do much about it. It has become a political football like so many other things. This is not to say we shouldn't attempt to be as clean environmentally as possible, without knocking ourselves back to the Stone Age.
His latest post covers many other subjects besides cancer, very interesting. It's funny, for a while we were missing Chris, now we can't keep up with him!
I have to go out for a bit, will talk to you later!
Mary

Hello Sylvia, I think this forum make us strong because we can share our feelings and share information about the treatment and the protocols that are used in other parts of the world.
Im sorry to read u about how the NHS , from here your NHS look great because is universal, for all the person who live there and without cost.
Here in Colombia the Health system is focused is only very good for some with a lot of money, the rest have to fight to be attended, and are not attended by entities of the state but private companies that profit from the health business.
My health system is very good, thank God. I have no complaints but I can not say the same of the other women of my country who are going through this situation. But I want to know how are the protocols in other countries.
The time that I delay from my diagnosis November 19 until the beginning of chemotherapy was only one month and 10 days, other people, as you say it takes more than 4 or 6 months to be taken care of.
Health system is focused is only very good for some with a lot of money, the rest have to fight to be attended, and are not attended by entities of the state but private companies that profit from the health business.
I work as a psychologist, not as a psychiatrist.
I found this article about the estradiol and breast cancer, is in spanish.

Hello Sylvia, Mary, Hanieh, Pam, Kath, Gina, Rhonda, Maggie, Adagio, Val..
I am trying to remember all the active members here but I am afraid I forgot a few .. please accept my apologies it's been a long time since I have been in this thread.. by the way welcome to Marias and other new members and I am sorry you are with us but glad to meet you.
I am now totally back to my normal life.. but I feel that I can never become my old self again.. I am so aware of all the aches and body pains and looking out of any anomalies.. Weird! I am a new person I feel.
This thing changed me a little, I remain strong but I continuously doubt all pains and aches and I am wondering whether this will stop one day or not. It is not affecting me psychologically yet, as in I am not in depression or sad.. but kind of... in the look out ! I am hoping time will help! so will see how this evolves ..
My regards to all of you here and keep in touch.. thinking of you and sending you strength and good vibes.

Gina - you are so positive with your encouragement to all of us on here - a nice bright light to shine amongst the darkness of our fears. Look after yourself - and I do like your prayers that you share with us all - we need all the help we can get. Feeling grateful for all the wonderful ladies on this forum.

Thank you ladies.
The truth is i am also scared. especially since i come from a family history stricken with this thing, with no survivors.
I put my fate in God's hands and I won't allow myself to live whatever remains of my life in misery. My strength comes from my faith in Him.
Love you all sisters.

Hello 4everStrong,
Thank you for your post. I always look forward to what you have to say. It seems to me that your thoughts always have depth and wisdom. I was glad to know that you are living life normally, as that is the way to go. We are all changed by a diagnosis of cancer, but that does not mean we have to let it possess us. There are a lot of diseases far worse than cancer that make it really difficult for people to carry on with a normal life. It may not appear to people that a disease like diabetes is dreadful, with dreadful consequences. When you think about multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease, not to mention dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
I understand how unexplained aches and pains can frighten cancer patients, but the answer is to get these checked out for peace of mind.
How is life in Paris? Are you following the run up primaries to the Presidential elections? I have been following them. Some months ago Raymond and I bought a Freesat box and discovered that we can get a regular French channel in French (TV5 Europe). It is very interesting and has programmes from lots of French speaking countries besides France. The news is very interesting. I think it all comes from channel 2 in France. There are lots of great films.
I do hope you will pop in when you can. You did remember most of the regular posters, except for Chris (ChrisAsh). We have a new lady, Marias, from Colombia. She also has interesting things to say.
Take care.
Fond thoughts.

Hello Marias,
Thank you for your post. I do agree that the forum makes us strong because we can share our feelings and share information about treatment in other parts of the world. The chemotherapy drugs are much the same, but our breast cancers are all individual so we do not necessarily react to them in the same way. I think how we react also depends on the state of our health before we begin and what we do for ourselves during treatment. Most of the time during my treatment I listened to myself!!
I do hope our NHS survives all this turmoil. When it was brought in by the Labour government in 1945 and actually officially started in 1948, it was in a totally different country and it was meant for basic and quite simple health care. The UK is now a completely different country with a huge population of about 70 million and the NHS cannot cope with this number of people. In addition, all the tests and scans are costly (perhaps overused), and drugs are expensive and prescribed too easily. We are supposed to have a National health system, not an International one. The NHS is owed millions from foreigners coming here, not eligible for treatment, but somehow getting it and refusing to pay. People think it is free, it is free at the point of treatment but we all pay for it through National Insurance and income tax.
I understand what you are saying about the health system in your country. Running health systems to make money is morally wrong and I hope one day you will get a better system. It is the duty of all governments to take care of their people and to use taxes to give people a better life.
I am appalled that in our rich country the latest news told us that one child in five is living in poverty. That is absolutely dreadful. All the good work of the 1945 government is being undone here. Their motto was to take care of the people from the cradle to grave. Now greed is the name of the game. The wealthy people here are paying less tax now than they were a few years ago. Where is their moral conscience?
I must apologise for saying that you are a psychiatrist, instead of a psychologist. Tell us a bit about your work.
Thank you for the link in Spanish. I shall look at it later.
Keep posting. Sending you very best wishes.

Hello Mary,
Thank you for your post. It is always nice to hear from you. When I saw the latest email from Chris Woollams, and saw that heading number 3, Having a rotator cuff operation, I thought of you! It is so useful to have the other titles to click on and then get more detailed information. I do not envy you trying to make a choice, but please let us know what you finally decide.
Like you, I was also interested in number 4 Only NASA seems to think the world is getting warmer. Like you, and like Chris Woollams, I do not believe in all the hysteria about Global Warming, or as they previously called it, Climate Change. As far as I am concerned, it is changing weather patterns and that has been going on for ever and will no doubt continue for ever.
I do love the sentence "Of course, we have climate change – it was ever thus. We live on a piece of molten rock hurtling through space". Of course I clicked on the title underneath Is Global Warming a hoax? It was interesting to discover that this took me to Junk Science – Observations on the sun spinning around the earth and other such junk.
Junk Science? Number 99: The Global Warming and Climate Change Hoax. The editir is Sam Wilson.
I have not looked at Junk Science in a while, but I must remember to do it more often.
I do agree with everything you say and I believe it is all about certain people making money.
I think these newsletters are very important. There is a lot of information to absorb and at the moment I find I am trying to read both of the January Newsletters at the same time. As you know, I like to print them off so I have quite a heap of papers in front of me. I do urge people to read these, so I am just going to repeat the headings while I am writing to you.
1. So, what does research show that will increase your cancer survival?
The under-headings are:
Research shows you can increase your odds of survival.
An overview on the use of these cheap supplements with cancer.
2. A Natural Compound that reduces blood clots, blood pressure, stroke risk and more.
3. Having a Rotator Cuff operation.
Under-heading: Having Rotator Cuff surgery (blog).
4. Only NASA seems to think the world is getting warmer.
Under-heading: Global Warming: A hoax?
5. The truth about endometriosis
Under-heading: The truth about Endometriosis.
6. Proven beyond doubt to be linked to Alzheimer's and dementia.
This British research looked at people who had died with the diseases and found the highest recorded levels of this compound. I tell you about the compound and how to avoid it.
Under-heading: Confirmed link to Alzheimer's and dementia.
7. Here is a food that will reduce your blood pressure (and by 4 – 5 points within six hours).
Under-heading: The food that quickly reduces blood pressure.
8. The compound so good, we made a little video.
Under-heading: Yup, it is on both the Cancer active and chriswoollamshealthwatch sites. on the home page. Have a look.
9. Everything you need to know to help you beat cancer.
You can look at all the books that have been written about cancer by Chris Woollams.
10. Yet more evidence about Parkinson's points to the same cause – and its not in your brain.
Under-heading: Research on a cause of Parkinson's.
11. The steeple fund is off to a great start. This ia all about building a new website and donations to help.
Mary, how are you doing with this second newsletter? There is so much information and I still have not finished with the first newsletter of January. In this one I think number 1 is the most important – So, what are the four pillars of cancer?
The under-heading is: The four pillars of cancer. I have clicked on this and I am busy reading my way through it. I hope some of you will do the same. The four pillars are Diet, Environmental Toxins, Infections, Stress and Mental state and cancer.
Have you read these four pillars? There is a lot of information there by clicking on the links.
That is about all for today. I still have to put up the main titles of the first email in January.
I do hope you have a nice weekend. At some point I have to do an agenda for the next directors' meeting in my apartment complex and also write up a newsletter for the residents.
At the moment I am wondering how our Prime Minister Theresa May is getting on with Donald Trump.
Love.
