Wednesday Weigh In

I am very wary of the weight loss drugs. When I was a young teacher, some miracle weight loss drug came out (I can't remember it's name). Several of my friends took it as a quick fix & after awhile, it was found to case heart problems….which has permanently affected one of the ladies. So…..once the new ones have been used for awhile, what bad side effects might show up? I also don't want to have to take a medication for the rest of my life. I don't want to take something that gives me digestive upsets, and I don't want to lose muscle as well as weight. Some of the people I know who are taking it, look like skeletons. No thank you!

Ruthbru, I share some of your reservations about the weight-loss drugs.

I dare say that we are all old enough to remember different waves of weight-loss drugs going back to the 1970's!
up .5, but back to the gym this week after two weeks of low attendance…onward.

I gained 5 pounds over the holidays! 😡 But had lost 2.4 of them as of this morning...

Good for you, Ruthbru!
I've lost what I gained and am back to pre-Christmas weight, which amounts to "high maintenance." LOL.
More veggies. Simple meat preparations. Instructions to self.

Down .5
I love the idea of "high maintenance"
I am 5 lbs from my high maintenance and 10 from my maintenance…those are my part 1 part 2 goals for this year. TT

Very bad me is up two pounds.

I didn't get to the gym yesterday. I walked in the neighborhood instead. I'll weigh today with the expectation of being up.

Down .5
With school starting to boil in activity from now through February…and adding piano lessons to the schedule…I'll have to be extra diligent.
Stay safe and warm, TT

I got the 2 pounds I gained off, plus .8 of another; which is good because Saturday we're off for a week of fun in the Arizona sun. I know I will be eating more the whole week!

You both did well! I maintained. I'll take maintenance over gaining. Have fun, Ruthbru.

Up 1
Guess walking circles inside my house (due to ice/snow outside) doesn't constitute enough exercise for me!

Up 2 lbs. King cake, comfort food, less exercise. A perfect formula.

On vacation; walking a lot but also eating a lot. Next week I will let you know how much damage was done.

Enjoy, Ruthbru.

Down 1, still not getting to the gym as much as I would like, but at least am back to where I was. TT

I shockingly did NOT gain any weight on my vacation!

Good for you! That mexican dish you shared a picture of was good for an extra pound…you must of really walked a lot out in the warm sunshine.😊

I was outside almost all of the time!! Walking, reading, walking some more, and eating oranges & grapefruit right off the trees!! It was such a treat!

Ruthbru, I'm in awe!
I'm still up in the high maintenance territory. Winter has not been a weight loss time for me. Fortunately, I'm healthy.

Down 1, finally in new territory, woohoo. TT

Up two & I know why. My Book Club met last night & our hostest drowned us in chocolate!!

LOL, Ruthbru. I'm familiar with both voices.
Trmtab, I'm so glad for you. What an accomplishment, to be in new lower territory.
I'm having some back pain, so didn't go to the gym yesterday. I did step on my bathroom scale and the number was high. I'm shopping for a new bathroom scale that will be more in sync with scales at doctors' offices and the gym. Any recommendation?

I am the same, but funny enough, my 90 year old mother just yesterday said…I don't know if you know this, but you have lost weight! Oh really, okay!
If you were planning on giving something up for Lent, I read this earlier this week and liked it a lot:
In his Lent 2026 message, Pope Leo XIV urges the faithful to move beyond traditional fasting from food and instead "fast from words," specifically targeting the use of harsh, wounding language, gossip, and rash judgment. He calls for a, "disarming" of language to foster peace and create space for listening
Take care everyone, TT

LOL on your mother's comment, trmtab.

Love your mom & the Pope, TT!
Down 1 pound.

I know, I've lost 20 lbs. Within reach of my pre-Covid (as you call it high maintenance) weight. Been wondering when she would notice…I would have thought that a winter season of her saying, wow I haven't seen you wear that in 5 years, would have lead her to some conclusion…but only yesterday!

I'm in high maintenance range.
20 lbs! Wow. That's great. And would be a noticeable change in appearance.
